B
Now
we
all
know
that
educators
all
have
a
special
place
in
heaven,
but
some
have
a
few
more
feathers
on
their
angel
wings,
and
while
I
will
always
maintain
that
beginning
band
and
string
teachers
have
the
most
feathers
middle
school
teachers
are
a
very,
very
close.
Second,
as
a
parent
of
current
and
former
middle
schoolers,
I
know
how
most
parents
breathe
a
sigh
of
relief
when
their
children
are
out
of
that
stage
of
life.
But
then
there
are
the
angels
like
kate,
who
were
called
and
chose
to
be
with
middle
level.
B
Students
every
day
for
43
years
bless
her
heart
teaching,
guiding,
leading
and
loving
them
all
along.
The
way
kate's
journey
saw
her
spend
many
years
as
a
language
arts
teacher
at
chesapeake
may
middle
school,
and
then
it
is
administrative
intern.
There
she
became
an
assistant
principal
at
corcoran
middle
school
in
2000,
then
principal
at
old
mill
middle
school
south
in
2001..
B
She
stayed
there
until
she
became
a
director
of
middle
schools
in
2005
and
then
regional
assistant
superintendent.
Several
years
later,
kate's
entire
aacps
career
has
been
spent
at
the
middle
school
level,
with
some
others
thrown
in,
but
always
focused
on
the
middle
schoolers.
She
hasn't
had
an
immeasurable
impact
on
thousands
of
students
and
hundreds
of
teachers
as
well.
It
is
safe
to
say
that
kate
has
truly
led
from
the
middle,
so
this
middle
school
mother
says.
Thank
you.
C
Thank
you,
kate.
We've
had
in
the
last
24
hours,
I've
been
able
to
say
thank
you
in
front
of
your
colleagues
and-
and
I
want
to
do
that
for
the
larger
community.
C
You
again,
you
have
provided
as
your
time
as
a
regional
system
done
incredible
support
to
your
principals
in
schools,
particularly
at
a
time
of
crisis,
and
in
your
time
some
of
your
schools
have
gone
through
crisis,
and
you
have
always
been
that
voice
of
reason
and
calm
for
your
principles
and
communities,
and
we
thank
you
for
that.
That
will
certainly
be
missed,
as
has
been
referenced,
you've
had
a
keen
focus
on
middle
school.
Your
knowledge
has
really
helped
us
move
forward.
C
A
result
of
our
of
our
improved
math
scores,
for
example
in
middle
school.
Our
direct
direct
result
of
you
and
your
work
and
your
team.
You
have
been
a
fabulous
colleague,
a
wonderful
friend
and
you
will
be
missed.
We
are
a
better
school
system.
Our
students
and
community
are
better
off
because
of
your
43
years
with
us.
I
am
a
better
superintendent
and
an
educator
because
of
you,
so
we
thank
you.
D
Well,
I
started
in
the
county
in
1970.,
so
let
me
just
say:
kate
came
along,
and
but
I
was
a
teacher
at
lake
shore
and
I
knew
her
then
I
shared
many
of
my
friends
jenna
and
different
close
friendships,
and
it
has
been
wonderful
to
see
your
career
as
it's
gone
through,
but
I
always
agree
that
you
have
been
a
calm
voice
reason
and
quite
an
asset
to
our
county.
Thank
you.
So
much
you
will
be
missed.
E
H
I
A
Yes,
ma'am
and
our
board
members
and
doctor:
let's
see
four,
this
is
short
baby.
K
E
A
B
Last
week
mr
gillen
and
myself
were
able
to
attend
the
fort
smallwood
ribbon,
cutting
where
4
000
solar
panels
were
officially
unveiled
and
over
the
course
of
20
years.
We
expect
that
that
will
be
a
one
point,
at
least
a
1.8
million
dollars
in
energy
savings
for
the
school
system.
So
that
was
very
exciting.
If
you
ever
have
a
chance,
it's
quite
impressive.
They
go
on
and
on
and
on.
B
We
also
were
able
to
attend
summer
school
graduation,
which
is
very
exciting,
to
see
some
of
our
students
who,
for
various
reasons,
weren't
able
to
graduate
on
time
with
their
class,
but
they
stuck
it
through
with
summer
school,
and
these
kids
were
amazingly
inspiring
and
the
words
that
they
shared
about
how
special
the
teachers
were
from
summer
school,
who
helped
them
to
get
over.
That
last
hurdle
were
very
moving
and
hats
off
to
all
the
staff
of
summer
school
who
work
with
those
kids
and
helped
them
all.
To
achieve
that
milestone.
B
M
Good
morning,
president
hummer,
dr
arlatto
and
fellow
board
members,
my
name
is
josie
raya,
I'm
a
junior
at
cerrito
park,
high
school
and
I'm
the
president
of
the
chesapeake
regional
association
of
student
councils.
This
summer
crass
broke
the
tradition
of
taking
the
summer
off
and
continued
a
pretty
regular
schedule
of
wednesday
night
meetings.
This
was
especially
important
because
it
gave
our
new
team
plenty
of
time
to
get
to
know
each
other.
It
is
critical
that
we
establish
a
healthy
teen
dynamic
and
that
we
all
feel
comfortable
debating
controversial
topics
with
each
other.
M
Recently,
our
conversations
have
focused
on
charlottesville
and
the
outrageous
acts
of
racially
motivated
hatred
and
terrorism,
which
have
dominated
the
national
conversation
for
the
past
few
weeks.
I
am
sure
that
a
number
of
aacps
graduates
are
attending
uva
in
the
fall,
and
it
is
heartbreaking
to
think
how
this
might
impact
their
experience
here
at
home.
In
anne
arundel
county.
We
are
not
strangers
to
the
pain
of
hatred.
We
know
that
it
comes
in
forms
of
riots,
petitions,
essays
threats
and
symbols.
M
M
Dr
arlatto,
I
loved
your
statement
in
that
editorial
in
the
capitol
on
monday,
you
captured
the
sentiment
beautifully.
I
love
the
part
where
you
said
we
must.
We
must
replace
conflict
with
conversation,
particularly
with
the
young
minds
we
educate
daily.
I
love
that
sentence
simple,
yet
powerful
in
its
meaning.
I
really
hope
that
everyone
in
our
community
can
be
mindful
of
that
idea.
As
we
begin
the
school
year,
we
have
to
take
time
to
tackle
the
difficult
conversations.
M
Last
january,
crass
made
the
statement
at
this
podium,
acknowledging
the
need
for
more
education,
focusing
on
eliminating
bias
and
embracing
ethnic
diversity.
We
said
teaching
tolerance
is
not
enough.
You
tolerate
an
annoying
sibling
or
a
bitter
cough
syrup.
We
need
to
teach
celebration,
it's
great,
that
lessons
about
recognizing
prejudice
are
embedded
in
our
curriculum,
but
since
we
are
not
being
assessed
on
this
message,
it
is
often
not
the
focus.
We
feel
that
stand-alone
activities,
assemblies
and
events
would
be
more
appropriate
venues
to
address
this
concern.
M
Not
finished
yet
we
stand
by
that
request
for
this
school
year
and
we
additionally
ask
that
special
attention
is
given
to
discussing
how
expressions
of
hatred
while
they
are
protected
under
our
first
amendment,
are
wrong
and
unwelcome.
It
is
not
enough
to
learn
about
our
rights.
We
also
need
to
learn
about
what
is
right
on
behalf
of
the
students
of
anne
arundel
county.
I
am
asking
you
to
assist
us
and
facilitate
our
growth
so
that
we
can
learn
how
to
get
navigate
these
troubling
times
with
empathy,
open-mindedness,
patience
and
mutual
respect.
M
B
N
Good
morning,
president
hummer
vice
president
gilland
and
superintendent
arlato.
Congratulations
on
your
new
positions.
My
name
is
allison
pickard
and
I'm
the
current
president
of
the
anne
arundel
county
council
of
ptas,
like
crass.
We
also
didn't
take
a
break.
This
summer
we
had
a
very
exciting
training
if
you
could
call
it
that
we
trained
over
50
rising
pta
parent
leaders
this
summer
in
june
to
so
that
they
could
take
the
helm
of
their
local
ptas.
This
fall,
which
is
great
great
turnout
for
our
county,
we'll
do
the
same
in
september.
N
The
date
is
to
be
announced,
we're
working
on
settling
that
right
now,
and
the
focus
of
that
training
will
again
be
to
position
our
new
pta
leaders
with
the
skills
they
need
to
be
successful,
but
also
we're
going
to
revisit
our
intentional
inclusion
advocacy
effort
that
we
started
last
year,
where
we
work
with
all
of
our
local
school
ptas
to
make
sure
that
all
parent
groups
and
teacher
groups
are
represented
in
their
pta.
B
O
Good
morning,
president
humber,
vice
president
guillen
members
of
the
board
and
dr
alato
for
the
record,
my
name
is
kathy
cubic
and
I'm
in
the
office
of
school
performance.
This
beautiful
morning,
we'd
like
to
share
with
you
the
updates
for
the
readiness
of
opening
of
schools
for
school
year,
2017
2018.
O
O
Additionally,
28
schools
will
open
with
new
assistant.
Principals.
Second
is
the
little
people,
our
students.
We
are
projected
to
enroll
a
record
82
344
students
this
year
at
the
secondary
level,
our
office
of
school
performances
work
diligently
with
the
office
of
student
data
and
the
division
of
student
services
to
ensure
that
every
secondary
student
comes
to
school
on
the
first
day,
with
a
schedule
and
ready
to
go,
our
counselors
and
schedulers
are
working
diligently
to
make
sure
the
last
unique
changes
are
happening
for
our
littlest
learners.
O
At
the
elementary
level,
home
rooms
are
set
and
ready
to
go
day.
One
third:
our
school
buildings
are
busy
too
this
year,
we'll
have
six
buildings
open
one
day
late
to
in
preparations
due
to
construction
projects.
At
the
elementary
level,
they
are
arnold,
rockbridge,
manor
view
and
shady
side,
also,
seven
river
middle
and
chesapeake
high
school
opening
one
day
late.
O
Fourth,
athletics
continues
to
be
awesome
to
understand
the
scope
of
our
athletic
program.
10
921
student
athletes
participated
in
the
program
last
year
with
an
additional
878
student
athletes
in
our
unified
athletic
program.
This
year,
our
1018
coaches
are
prepared
to
start
the
school
year.
They
are
certified
in
care
and
prevention,
cpr,
concussion
training
and
heat
acclimatization
training.
O
In
addition
to
serve
the
now
over
62
percent
of
non-traditional
classroom
teachers
as
coaches
we've
provided
professional
development
in
prioritizing
student
athlete,
mental
and
physical
health
and
safety
teaching
life
lessons
through
sport
and
how
to
integrate
student
athletic
voice
at
all
levels
of
programming.
All
this
hard
work
pays
off.
Aacps
brought
home
six
total
state
championships
last
year,
bringing
our
county-wide
total
to
373
since
our
first
state
championship
in
1908..
O
Finally,
fifth,
the
people
in
osp,
our
team,
has
worked
with
all
123
principals
and
their
school
leadership
teams
to
ensure
a
successful
opening
of
the
school
year.
Specifically,
we
hosted
principals
and
lead
teachers
partnering
with
asi
this
past
monday.
At
our
opening
celebration,
this
day
was
an
opportunity
to
provide
leadership,
professional
development
for
our
principals,
and
then
we
still
celebrated
our
academic
successes.
P
Good
morning,
I
am
excited
to
share
curriculum
and
instructions,
preparations
for
the
start
of
the
school
year
during
the
july
curriculum
innovation
and
assessment
writing
academy.
Elementary
and
secondary
teachers
worked
with
department,
coordinators
and
resource
teachers
to
create
74
new
curriculum
documents.
P
The
academy
included
over
170
riders
and
partners
from
charles
prince
george's
and
queen
anne's
county
joined
in
the
experience.
Curricula
includes
real
world
connections.
Exploratory
project
based
modules,
learning
tasks
and
assessments
have
all
been
developed
in
each
discipline
to
build
students,
reading
and
writing
skills
to
connect
essential
skills
and
concepts
throughout
the
summer
staff
from
the
offices
of
curriculum
instruction,
advanced
studies
and
programs
and
professional
growth
and
development
collaborated
to
plan
and
deliver
professional
learning
opportunities
for
multiple
audiences.
P
We
increased
our
opportunities
to
interact
with
both
teachers
and
administrators
to
focus
on
learning
strategies
to
engage
students
in
critical
thinking,
problem
solving
communication
and
creativity.
Our
sessions
also
covered
various
topics,
including
unpacking
standards
and
increasing
curriculum
access.
We
work
with
school
teams
to
build
rigor
and
relevance
for
student
learning.
P
We
are
thrilled
to
launch
the
new
third
grade
curriculum
through
shared
efforts.
We
have
produced
a
student
center
curriculum
for
our
learners
built
around
the
concept
of
investigation
in
third
grade.
Students
will
investigate
new
ways
to
engage,
learn
and
achieve
through
the
21st
learning
century's
skills,
communication,
critical
thinking,
collaboration
and
creativity.
P
Students
will
have
opportunities
for
investigation
through
inquiry,
oriented
exploration,
questions
and
concept
connections
within
each
discipline.
We
continue
our
commitment
to
movement
play
and
discourse
to
support
third
grade
teachers
in
the
implementation
of
our
new
curricula.
This
year
they
will
receive
multiple
resources
to
facilitate
instruction,
as
well
as
job
embedded
support
from
specialists
in
the
academic
offices.
P
We
are
excited
to
continue
our
focus
with
middle
school
experience
to
meet
the
demands
of
the
maryland
learning
content,
standards
for
mathematics
and
science.
Our
instructional
approach
is
centered
on
developing
students,
conceptual
understanding
and
systems
thinking
to
include
modeling
and
a
context
for
ideas
to
be
learned
in
math
and
science
classroom
students
will
utilize
manipulatives
conduct
investigations
solve
problems
and
participate
in
discussions
that
focus
on
the
strength
of
evidence
used
to
generate
claims
to
support
learning.
P
Students
will
participate
in
blended
instruction
that
focus
on
coherence
and
rigor
of
the
learning
standards,
so
that
mathematics
and
science
is
engaging
relevant
and
fun
for
all
learners.
We
are
also
launching
a
new
ninth
grade.
Environmental
science
course.
This
course
affords
students
the
opportunity
to
experience
the
interconnectedness
among
the
sciences.
Our
students
will
make
connections
in
unexpected
places
and
situations
and
see
the
relevance
of
science
and
everyday
happenings
of
life.
In
this
student
center
classroom,
students
will
explore,
discover,
laugh,
learn
and
flourish.
Q
Good
morning,
advanced
studies
and
programs
is
rooted
in
the
development
and
delivery
of
powerful
teaching
that
promotes
engaged
learning
through
rigorous
instruction,
authentic
application
and
community
connections.
Our
goal
is
to
prepare
our
students
to
be
21st
century
competent
expert
learners
in
their
journey
to
college
and
career
readiness.
We
are
dedicated
to
preparing
our
students
to
communicate
precisely
work
cooperatively,
think
creatively
and
initiate
action
as
they
prepare
to
participate
in
a
global
society.
Q
At
this
time,
1
398
students

R
Good
morning,
the
division
of
student
support
services
has
hired
some
terrific
new
staff.
We
have
a
new
director
of
student
services,
four
new
psychologists
and
nine
new
school
counselors
due
to
vacancies
as
a
result
of
retirements
resignation
or
job
change.
We
have
also
increased
our
staff
diversity.
R
R
At
the
elementary
level,
our
school
counselors
will
continue
to
help
develop
strategies
to
address
the
social

emotional
needs
of
children
to
best
address
their
behaviors
at
the
secondary
level.
College

to
its
outreach
to

over
the

Regarding
the

on
implementation
of
the

on
proactive

R
A
special
note
is
our
division's
ongoing
support
of
students,
staff
and
families
with
our
trauma
teams
when
unexpected
traumatic
events
such
as
a
fatal
car
accident
or
untimely
death,
occur
this
summer
alone,
for
example,
two
elementary
students
and
three
high
school
students
won
a
2017
graduate
passed
away.
Our
division
reached
out
to
provide
assistance
to
the
families
of
these
students,
as
well
as
the
schools
they
attended.

principals
and
teams
of
educators,
so
the
conflicts
may
be
successfully
resolved.
S
Good
morning,
as
usual
summer
was
a
very
busy
time
for
the
division
of
human
resources
in
preparation
for
staffing,
our
schools
with
high
quality
candidates
for
the
upcoming
school
year.
As
you
know,
quite
a
bit
of
work
and
processing
occurs
in
order
to
prepare
a
teacher
to
enter
the
classroom
when
school
starts.
S
So
far,
our
new
teachers
came
from
a
variety
of
places,
including
recent
graduates,
other
maryland
districts,
teachers
from
out
of
state,
and
this
year
we
even
experienced
teachers
from
puerto
rico.
Currently,
21.7
percent
of
our
new
hires
are
diverse
candidates,
as
we
continue
to
explore
ways
to
recruit
diverse
candidates
to
our
school
system.
We
are
expanding
our
reach
in
recruitment.
S
S
We
currently
have-
and
this
is
changing
literally
by
the
minute
29
classroom
based
vacancies,
which
we
hope
will
be
filled
mostly
before
the
first
day
of
school,
for
positions
that
are
not
filled.
Our
sub
office
has
been
working
very
hard
over
the
summer
to
ensure
quality
substitute
teachers
are
available
to
hire
into
these
positions
until
they
can
be
filled
permanently.
We
currently
have
one
thousand
1178
active
substitute
teachers
for
this
purpose.
S
The
number
of
our
nationally
board
certified
teachers
continues
to
increase.
We
currently
have
378
active
nationally
board,
certified
teachers
and
94
percent
of
our
schools
have
one
or
more
nationally
board
certified
teachers.
Our
staff
is
con
is
working
extremely
hard
to
continue
to
fill
the
vacancies
that
exist,
so
we
look
forward
to
being
as
close
to
fully
staffed
as
possible.
On
the
first
day
of
school,
we
are
excited
about
our
new
hires
and
their
potential
impact
to
our
students
in
anne
arundel
county.
T
T
T
J
Thank
you,
madam
president,
and
you
know
just
to
say
very
briefly
and
above
all
thank
you
to
to
each
of
you.
I
think
I'm
stealing
mrs
burge's
words
from
last
year
that-
and
I
hope
I'm
not
twisting
them,
but
you
know
that
this
is
one
of
the
best
presentations
that
that
the
board
gets,
and
you
know
it's
my
second
time
sitting
through
this
one,
and
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
for
all
of
the
preparation.
I
I
really
love
hearing
about
the
four
c's.
J
You
know,
that's
something
that
I
ran
on
when
I
I
sought
this
seat
originally,
and
you
know
I
think,
when
the
four
c's
at
least
we
like
to
say
this
in
workforce
development,
when
the
four
c's
work
together.
Well,
they
do
produce.
People
are
confident
and
that
being
the
fifth
c
really
is
what
creates
our
robust
workforce
and
that's
what
employers
are
looking
for.
So
I
think
we're
we're
poising
our
students
for
success
very
well
there.
J
One
thing:
that's
that's
not
here
that
I
do
want
to
highlight,
and
I
hope
mr
mosher
doesn't
mind
me
calling
him
out,
but
you
know
this
is
the
the
first
year
that
we're
starting
the
school
year
with
a
new
website
and
the
information
that's
being
shared
with
with
our
constituency,
young
and,
dare
I
say
old,
but
everyone
is
getting
their
information
in
a
much
more
convenient
and
a
much
more
powerful
modality.
So
I
do
want
to
just
say
thank
you
for
that
and
and
then
also
just
on
a
personal
note.
J
E
I
actually
had
a
question
and
it's
for
you
miss
cooches
it
we
have
29
vacancies
right
now.
What
are
they
specialty
positions?
Are
they
the
hard
to
fill
positions?
I'm
guessing
they're,
not
elementary
school
teachers,
so.
S
Let
me
clarify
so
I
was
very
specific
to
say:
classroom
based
vacancies.
We
do
have
some
other
vacancies
that
exist
at
central
office
and
other
places.
Okay,
so
there's
a
classroom
based.
We
actually
do
have
some
elementary
openings.
Surprisingly,
I
looked
at
the
numbers
again
this
morning,
I'm
like
how
can
we
have,
but
as
staffing
adjust,
we
do
have
some
of
those
okay,
but
primarily
we
are
added.
S
We
we
need
some
more
special
education
teachers
that
continues
to
be
a
place
where
we
struggle
and
we
currently
have
five
vacancies
there
and
then,
as
we've
talked
about
many
times,
world
and
classical
languages
is
an
area
that
we
continue
to
need
to
find
other
ways
to
staff
those
positions
because
they're
simply
not
available.
S
E
Okay
and
I
I'll
own
up,
I
felt
like
you
were
looking
at
me:
I
have
the
immunization
form
clipped
to
the
bulletin
board.
It's
ready
to
go
so
bob.
Stop.
Calling
me.
C
Thank
you
yes,
miss
burger.
We
did
make
note
that
you
have
yet
to
get
your
immunization
words,
but
we
weren't
going
to
say
anything.
I'm
glad
that
you
I
I
understand.
Thank
you
for
that.
We'll
continue
to
monitor
the
numbers.
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
to
the
team
and
it
is
a
for
those
that
think
that
school
systems
sit
idle
during
the
summer.
That
is
certainly
not
the
case.
It
is
a
very,
very
weathered
staffing,
certainly
facilities
and
their
team.
C
We,
the
student
support
services,
does
not
shut
their
doors
when
the
school
year
closes.
We're
always
there
to
support
our
students
and
families,
particularly
in
times
of
crisis
or
even
during
the
summer
months.
Curriculum
instruction
is
amazing.
You
bring
teachers
together
to
write
and
prepare
curriculum
assessments.
C
B
Anyone
wishing
to
speak
on
an
item
not
on
today's
agenda
may
offer
testimony
during
this
public
comment.
Portion
of
the
meeting
speakers
will
be
allotted
three
minutes.
Each.
The
board
asks
that
comments
remain
civil
and
appropriate
for
the
various
audiences
that
may
be
watching
or
viewing
this
meeting
student
specific
and
personnel
matters
are
confidential
and
cannot
be
discussed
in
this
forum.
This
time
is
intended
for
speakers
to
voice
their
opinion
and
not
necessarily
as
a
question
and
answer
period.
B
B
L
Is
the
timer
going
right
now?
Okay,
good
morning,
superintendent,
arlato,
president
hummer
and
members
of
the
board
of
education
and
members
of
the
audience,
my
name
is
jessica

I
have
two
children
in
the
annual
county
school
system,
I'm
an
attorney
and
a
licensed
real
estate
broker
for
the
record.
I
am
not
against
cell
towers
and
telecommunications.
L
L
My
opposition
to
them
is
based
on
diminished
property
values
which
can
be
up
to
20
percent,
the
negative
aesthetics
of
them
and
ill
health
effects.
L
Dr
joshua
booth,
a
professor
of
computer
science
at
franklin
and
marshall
college,
who
has
worked
with
emf
radiation
calculates
that
a
hundred
foot
proposed
cell
tower
would
provide
the
equivalent
power
of
1.4
live
wireless,
routers,
routers,
strapped
to
the
head
of
a
child
for
seven
full
school
years,
because
children
are
smaller
and
still
developing.
They
are
more
vulnerable
to
radiation
than
adults.
L
L
L
L
Is
that
my
warning
for
like
a
minute
like
in
court,
it
goes
30
seconds,
okay,
they
came
out
and
they
voiced
their
opposition
very
loudly,
and
I
hope
that
this
board
takes
that
into
consideration
and
everything
else.
Other
people
are
saying
with
respect
to
this
matter.
Thank
you
very
much
for
your
time
and
consideration
for
all
the
hard
work
you
do
all
year
round.
I
know
what
it's
like,
because
I
volunteer
on
several
several
boards
myself.
Thank
you.
F
Your
fiduciary
responsibility
is
to
the
students,
in
this
case
children,
parents
and
citizens,
placing
cell
towers
at
elementary
schools
is
wandering
from
this
mission.
It
has
nothing
to
do
with
education
and
it's
contrary
to
safety.
Good
leadership
and
management
by
prince
george's
and
montgomery
counties
have
made
the
decision
not
to
place
cell
towers
at
elementary
schools.
F
F
F
F
At
the
public
meeting,
one
of
the
few
items
milestones
president
len
forkish
shared
with
the
citizens
of
shadyside,
is
that
he
has
a
fiduciary
responsibility
to
his
shareholders
and
investors.
He
shared
this
with
shadyside.
Your
responsibility
lies
with
the
students,
parents
and
citizens
not
milestone.
F
There
was
a
time
tobacco
was
proclaimed
to
be
safe.
Ronald
reagan
promoted
the
camel
brand
baby
powder
considered
safe
now
facing
one
half
billion
dollar
multiple
judgments.
It's
unfortunate.
You
have
renewed
a
five-year
lease
with
milestone
without
adequate
public
notice,
public
input,
legal
review
and
negotiation.
F
F
Milestones,
business
practices
have
been
called
into
question
by
other
jurisdictions
and
I
would
submit
that
they
have
made
large
contributions
to
our
elected
officials,
our
deciders,
our
councilmen.
In
this
district,
our
district,
jerry
walker,
has
taken
next
to
the
largest
milestone
bounty
with
five
thousand
five
hundred
dollars.

The
telecommunications
act
of
1996
essentially
removed
the
value
of
life
and
well-being
of
the
residents
of
an
affected
community
in
favor
of
money
and
profit.
We
are
unable
to
protest
the
installation
of
a
tower
based
on
the
latest
medical
evidence.
Current
scientific
research,
free
from
the
pull
of
the
communications
lobby,
is
proving
how
wrong
this
action
is.
We
are
left
with
only
one
avenue
to
argue
against
the
installation
of
a
cell
tower
under
the
telecommunications
act.
V
Human
lives
are
things
to
be
discarded
and
forsaken,
but
evidently
property
values
are
not
few
fully
informed
persons
would
purchase
a
home
in
an
area
with
such
deadly
risks.
Research
in
this
area
is
expanding
and
more
people
will
come
to
understand
through
hard
science,
that
cell
towers
do
pose
a
serious
threat.
V

Good

you
a

I'm
coming
to
you
on
another
side
and
that's
the
professional
side.
I've
spent
over
30
years
in
the
healthcare

majority
of
them

We
were
a
congressional
delegation
that
was
sent
on
the
20th
anniversary
of
the

nuclear

plant
accident.
We
represented
our
country
to
go
over
and
ascertain
the
health
care
concerns
and
needs
of
the
people
of
ukraine.
I
was
out.
I
was
asked
to
come
back
a
second
time
by
the
first
lady
of
ukraine
and
the
president
to
sit
on
a
panel
of
experts
from
across
western
and
eastern
europe
to
see
what
concerns
and
long-term
effects
that
the
radiation
exposure
had
across
europe.
W
That
meeting
the
indications
that
everything
to
do
with
radiation
exposure,
no
matter
what
the
size
is
cumulative,
they
are
looking
at
up
to
150
years
of
effects
and
it's
not
just
cancer.
It's
cardiac
disease,
it's
learning
disabilities
and
it's
genetic
mutations
that
have
come
out
of
all
of
these
accidents.
W
I
beg
you
as
a
board
to
sit
there
and
think
of
what's
going
to
happen
to
those
people,
and
you
probably
won't
even
be
on
this
board
when
when
the
real
effects
occur,
but
I
will
tell
you
as
a
professional,
local
state,
national
and
international.
This
is
nothing
to
play
with
remember.
The
key
word
is
cumulative
and
we
ask
that
you
do
not
allow
this
to
happen.
X
X
X
This
is
unfair
deal
elementary,
has
half
of
the
students
that
our
other
schools
do
it's
time
for
a
change,
it's
time
to
look
at
our
county
and
our
southern
district
as
a
whole
and
make
some
changes.
Please
consider
looking
into
the
communities
along
the
churchtown
road,
as
well
as
the
communities
along
chalk,
point
road.
I
will
personally
offer
my
time
and
my
assistance
to
ensure
that
this
matter
is
looked
into
now
and
not
five
years.
X
X
Take
a
little
bit
of
a
shift
here:
emergency
personnel
need
cell
service,
our
school
needs
cell
service,
our
community
needs
cell
service.
However,
our
school
is
underfunded
and
we
can't
continue
to
grow
technology
in
our
school.
We
want
our
children
to
have
updated
schools,
updated
technology,
and
we
encourage
our
students
to
learn
play
and
even
just
enjoy
themselves
on
our
tablets,
our
computers
at
our
home
in
our
school.
X
This
is
what
we've
we've
done
for
our
children
we've
given
them
these
tools,
but
we
cannot
be
hypocrites.
We
cannot
use
our
wireless
cell
phones
day-to-day.
We
cannot
guarantee
our
wireless
internet
routers
at
home.
We
cannot
ask
verizon,
comcast
and
other
companies
to
improve
their
cell
service.
We
cannot
continue
to
use
our
smart
tvs.
X
We
cannot
use
our
tablets,
we
cannot
use
our
microwaves.
We
cannot
continue
to
use
these
things
in
our
home
and
our
school.
If
we're
not
going
to
allow
change
in
our
community,
our
homes
have
more
wi-fi
and
more
issues
with
them
than
the
cell
phone
towers.
Do.
Thank
you
for
board
of
education
for
looking
for
ways
to
supplement
our
budget.
Our
county
is
underfunded.
X
We
have
to
make
a
change
make
anne
arundel
county
public
schools
awesome
by
continue
to
looking
for
other
sources
of
income
to
help
our
staff
admins
and
board,
make
our
county
school
system
better
for
our
kids.
I'd
like
to
thank
you
all
for
the
progress
that's
happening
at
shadyside
elementary
and
for
our
kindergarten
edition,
as
well
as
our
open
closure
classrooms.
Thank
you.
H
Go
ahead
okay,
good
morning
and
thank
you
for
allowing
me
to
speak
to
the
school
board
about
an
important
topic
that
I
feel
is
really
relevant.
I
am
opposing
the
cell
tower
at
shadyside
elementary
school.
Please.
H
Oh
I
apologize.
My
name
is
randy
williams,
I'm
a
registered
nurse
in
anne
arundel
county.
I
graduated
from
southern
high
school
in
1979.
I
attended
shadyside
elementary
school
in
1971
when
it
first
opened
and
my
daughter
attended,
shadysaad
elementary
school
and
is
in
southern
high
school
in
10th
grade
at
this
time.
H
So
I
have
I've
lived
in
shadyside
since
1970..
I
have
a
vested
interest
in
the
property.
When
I
excuse
me,
I
get
nervous,
let's
see
one
second,
all
right.
When
I
first
moved
to
shadyside
and
attended
the
school,
we
had
the
same
footprint
of
playground,
which
is
rather
small
in
the
time
that
I
was
there.
We
had
a
ball
field
in
the
back,
where
I
could
play
on
my
softball
team.
That's
no
longer
there.
H
The
footprint
has
changed
a
little.
The
trees
have
grown.
It's
we're
on
an
area
that
used
to
be
called
the
swamp.
It
is
still
the
swamp
and
the
trees
that
are
on
the
property
of
shadyside
are
protecting
our
property
from
being
a
massive
swamp
on
the
school
playground.
There
just
isn't
enough
room,
it's
a
very
small
playground
and
thinking
about
putting
in
a
cell
tower
taking
out
trees
to
do
that
on.
H
H
H
Let's
see
where
else
I
am
here.
Let's
see.
H
H
H
G
G
G
G
G
We
lag
in
the
hashtag
project
every
year
and
other
twitter
projects
because
of
our
poor
cell
service
on
a
personal
level.
My
service
at
home
is
poor
and
we
are
forced
to
keep
a
landline
just
in
case
I've
heard
from
other
residents
that
part
of
idle
wild
and
snug
harbor
have
the
worst
cell
service.
If
any
cell
service,
there
are
families
that
care
for
the
elderly
or
sick
that
are
forced
to
keep
their
landlines
for
emergency
purposes.
G
G
G
Y
Y
B
I
I
questioned
the
the
twitter.
Please
give
your
name
first,
like
the
school.
Has
broadband
internet,
so
okay,
hi,
I'm
john
earl,
I'm
a
father
of
six
beautiful
young
children
in
shadyside
maryland
all
right,
so
I'm
also
an
engineer
and
love
technology.
In
fact,
technology
allows
me
to
do
what
I
do
it's
very
important,
but
when
my
sister
was
diagnosed
with
stage
four
brain
cancer,
I
started
to
dig
deep
into
the
research.
I
I'm
telling
you,
after
years
of
research,
the
risks
are
real
they're
real.
I'm
I've
been
looking
at
this
for
years.
I'm
not
sure
how
how
deeply
you've
personally
looked
into
this
topic.
I
get,
and
I
get
three
minutes
to
talk
where
I
believe
industry
meets
with
you
at
the
schools
and
they
get
a
chance
to
really
explain
to
you
their
position
on
safety,
which
is
based
on
20
year
old
studies.
I
I
I
think
that
being
educated
by
industry
to
make
your
decision
is
a
conflict
of
interest,
and
I
would
love
for
you
to
set
up
a
meeting
with
independent
experts
who
are,
you
know,
can
tell
you
what
is
going
on
with
the
latest
research.
I
think
that
would
be
a
good
idea
before
you
make
your
decision,
so
I
really
think
you
need
to
look
at
this
as
an
opportunity
for
you
guys
to
be
on
the
right
side
of
history.
I
The
opportunity
excuse
me
to
stop
the
very
first
cell
phone
tower
at
an
elementary
school
in
our
county
and
regardless
of
your
personal
beliefs,
you
cannot
ignore
two
facts.
One
shadyside
community
has
been
very
clear
that
they
do
not
want.
This
tower
has
been
pushed
back
and
two.
There
is
mounting
evidence
that
elementary
schools
are
absolutely
the
wrong
place
to
place
the
cell
phone
tower
american
cancer
society,
american
pediatric
association.
I
I
I
don't
think
anyone
wants
their
children
to
be
part
of
the
long-term
studies
that
have
yet
to
be
conducted
right
as
far
as
money
goes
we're
talking
about
lives
here,
it's
not
a
frivolous
matter
and
you
have
an
opportunity
to
protect
these
kids,
an
obligation
really
to
protect
these
kids
and
the
dollar
amount
on
a
life
we're
talking
about
15
of
revenue
for
the
school
system
per
child
at
shadyside
elementary
school.
It's
not
going
to
get
more
teachers.
I
It's
not
going
to
do
all
the
things
that
the
people
that
want
the
tower
think
is
going
to
happen.
I
just
want
to
say
that
you're
gambling
with
lives
and
the
truth
is
you
don't
know
enough
to
say
it's
safe.
In
fact,
nobody
has
come
out
yet
to
say
cell
towers
are
safe.
This
is
your
moment
to
look
within
and
simply
do
what's
right.
I
You
vote
now
on
this
tower.
People
are
going
to
respect
you
for
being
responsible
and
not
gambling
with
people's
lives.
Pg
county,
montgomery,
county
school
boards,
they've
already
taken
the
opportunity
to
say
no
about
cell
towers
at
elementary
schools.
You
should
talk
to
them.
You
should
do
the
same
thing.
It's
a
no-brainer.
Thank
you.
Z
Hello,
my
name
is
jeddah.
Earl
smith.
I
live
in
shadyside
maryland
and
I
just
want
to
say
I
really
don't
want
a
cell
tower
to
go
up
on
my
school.
I
don't
think
it's
a
very
smart
thing
to
do,
and
I
just
hope
and
that
you
will
vote
no.
Thank
you.
AA
B
Patricia
mathis,
I
am
not
going
to
get
this
name
very
well:
vk
holsendorf,
james
fonfana,
from
pharah
and
jennifer
dwyer.
AB
Hi
I'm
patricia
mathis
and
I
live
in
anne
arundel
county.
I
live
in
annapolis
actually,
but
I
have
grandchildren
and
children
in
shadyside.
I
was
a
teacher
for
40
years,
so
my
concern
was
for
the
safety
of
the
children
in
this
in
shady
side.
AB
It's
to
me,
it
seems
like
it's
the
worst
place
that
you
could
put
something
that
will
possibly
cause
disease,
10
or
20
years
down
the
road
due
to
the
accumulative
accumulative
effects
of
radiation
exposure.
This
kind
of
reminds
me
of
the
warnings
heard
in
the
40s
and
the
50s,
which
I
remember
concerning
the
danger
of
cigarette
smoking.
AB
For
many
years,
the
industry
claimed
that
cigarettes
were
safe
and
look
how
long
it
took
for
that
fight
with
many
unjust,
unnecessary
deaths
along
the
way.
Is
this
going
to
be
the
same
thing
with
even
worse
results
in
the
years
ahead?
AB
AC
AC
I
I
don't
have
any
children,
I
don't
have
any
children
in
any
elementary
school
or
ever
have,
but
I
do
pay
property
tax
and
I've
done
the
calculation
just
rough
back
at
the
envelope
and
I
the
portion
of
my
property
tax
every
year
that
goes
to
support
the
school
system,
is
about
eight
thousand
dollars
a
year.
That's
what
you
guys
getting
my
money
to
spend
and
I
depend
on
you
to
spend
that
money.
I'm
not
complaining.
AC
I
think
it's
a
really
really
important
thing
that
we
do
collectively
is
to
contribute
funds
for
the
education
of
our
children,
not
the
sickness
of
our
children,
the
education
of
our
children.
So
I
calculated
over
the
17
years
that
I've
lived
in
the
state
shadyside
area
about
130
000
of
my
tax
dollars
have
gone
into
the
school
system.
AC
Now,
let's
look
at
that
relative
to
what
milestones
giving
you
and
I
almost
had
the
thought
is
you
know
me,
I'd
really
I'd
be
a
lot
better
off.
If
I
just
took
my
money
and
paid
it
into
jerry
walker
and
had
him
vote
my
way,
so
it's
really
not
a
fair
fight.
I'm
happy
to
give
you
my
money,
I'm
happy
to
educate
the
children.
AC
I
spent
my
years
in
corporate
america
very
similar
to
diane
and
I
was
responsible
for
all
the
high
performance
computing
business
for
hewlett-packard,
and
so
I
negotiated
joint
engineering
agreements
between
universities,
other
governments,
a
lot
of
the
department
of
energy
and
national
science
foundation
labs,
and
I
can
tell
you
by
living
through
all
that
doing
a
contract
when
it
comes
to
technology
is
really
sophisticated,
and
I
had
legions
of
smart
lawyers
and
engineers
working
on
my
staff
to
make
sure
we
got
that
contract
right.
AC
We
understand
that
you
got
lots
of.
Our
phones
are
ringing
off
the
wall
by
people
who
own
property
that
would
be
willing
to
host
that
self-service
tower,
and
the
elementary
school
is
certainly
not
the
only
location
in
that
area.
That
could
do
it.
So
you
want
you,
don't
have
to
make
that
decision.
Based
on
that
there's
lots
of
other
options
might
cost
milestone.
A
little
bit
more
money,
but
that's
not
our
problem.
Thank
you.
AD
Hi,
my
name
is
james
von
fair.
I
live
in
westerville
maryland
my
daughters
go
to
shadyside
elementary
school,
I'm
the
father
of
three.
AD
So
it's
kind
of
the
reason
why
I'm
here
the
cell
tower
it's,
you
know
I
don't
want
to
have
my
kids
in
a
school
where
they're
going
to
have
radiation
or
anything
on
top
of
them
all
day
long,
while
they're
there
supposed
to
be
learning
mind
developing
one
of
my
daughters
has
epilepsy,
so
she
already
has
a
brain
condition,
and
you
know
further
agitation
in
her
brain
is
not
really
going
to
help
her
and
you
know
from
all
the
community
and
and
our
community
meeting
and
stuff.
AD
I'm
sure
it's
pretty
obvious
to
everyone
that
shadyside
does
not
want
this
tower.
None
of
our
residents
do
no
one.
I've
spoken
to
does
and
people
that
claim
that
they
have
poor
cell
service,
though
maybe
should
look
at
your
carrier,
because
mine
works
just
fine
on
the
school
now
as
far
as
our
kids,
using
cell
phones
and
stuff
in
the
school,
I
don't
see
whether
that's
a
po
or
there
is
ever
a
place
for
that
in
schools.
AD
Our
children
should
be
learning
not
on
devices
to
do
the
learning
with
all
that
said,
a
point
that
was
made
at
the
community
meeting,
which
you
all
may
be
aware
of-
maybe
maybe
not
I
don't
know
the
president
of
milestone
communications
own
child
had
a
form
of
cancer
when
he
went
to
a
school
that
was
right
next
to
a
cell
tower
right
next
to
a
cell
tower.
AD
AD
I
guess
I'll
leave
that
up
to
you
all
to
decide.
You
know
it.
I
really
pray
that
this
doesn't
happen.
I
really
do
pray
for
my
children,
it's
not
for
me
it's
for
my
children
and
you
know
you
all,
as
board
members
have
the
opportunity
to
be
their
heroes
right
now
to
stop
this
from
happening
before
it
ever.
You
know,
before
anything,
does
happen,
you
know.
AD
Maybe
we
should
paint
play
on
the
points
be
made
already,
the
other
counties
that
have
banned
this
from
their
districts,
the
other
countries
for
that
matter
that
have
banned
this
from
happening
in
their
countries.
They
didn't
do
it
for
no
reason
you
know
if
you
know
they
could
make
profit
off
it.
Just
like
you
know,
anne
arundel
county's
going
to
make
profit
off
it.
Why
wouldn't
they
do
it?
Because
there's
a
risk
involved-
and
you
know.
AA
AE
AD
AE
AF
Hi,
my
name
is
jennifer
dwyer
and
my
son
henry
will
be
starting
kindergarten
at
shadyside
elementary
in
a
few
weeks,
my
family
actually
just
moved
to
shadyside
back
in
march,
and
we
were
a
big
part
of
what
convinced
us
to
plunk
down
more
money
than
we
ever
imagined.
We
would
on
a
house
was
all
the
really
good
things
that
we
heard
about
shadyside
elementary.
AF
So
and
here
we
are
not
five
months
later
worrying
about
whether
or
not
the
school
board
is
about
to
approve
a
potentially
carcinogenic
cell
phone
tower
at
the
behest
of
some
corporation
trying
to
make
a
buck,
I
mean
this
is
just
mind-boggling
to
me.
I
was
at
the
community
meeting
in
shadyside
a
few
weeks
back
with
over
a
100
of
my
neighbors,
which,
if
any
of
you
have
experience
with
community
meetings,
you
know
that
100
people
don't
show
up
to
a
community
meeting
in
the
middle
of
august
unless
it's
something
real
serious.
AF
That
people
are
really
concerned
about,
and
I
went
to
this
meeting
to
find
out
more
about
the
exact
proposal
on
the
table
and
I
left
the
meeting
completely
horrified
by
what
I
saw
and
heard.
Basically
the
rep
from
milestone
came
over
and
said.
You
know
when
we
asked
him
do
cell
phone
towers
cause
cancer
he's
like
well,
we
don't
think
they
cause
cancer,
but
the
school
board's
gonna
make
25
000
off
of
this,
and
you
guys
are
gonna,
get
a
fraction
of
a
fraction
of
that.
AF
That's
like
five
dollars
a
year
extra
for
your
son's
education,
totally
worth
it,
which
it's
I'm
sure
many
of
you
have
children.
Imagine
if
some
salesman
was
trying
to
con
your
school
board
into
making
a
decision
that
could
potentially
jeopardize
the
life
or
health
of
your
children.
I
mean,
wouldn't
you
be
livid?
AF
AF
There
are
plenty
of
other
parcels
in
the
shady
side
area
to
stick
a
cell
phone
tower.
I
mean
it
really
just
does
not
need
to
go
in
my
kids
playground.
It
could
go
easily
anywhere
else,
and
you
know
if
folks
are
noticing
a
discrepancy
in
the
sizes
of
our
classes
compared
to
other
schools.
Then
that's
something
as
a
community
that
we
need
to
investigate
and
get
down
to
the
bottom
of
as
to
why
that
is.

AG
When
will
you
direct
aacps
to

to

those

When
will
you

When
will

testimony
one
of
the
most
gut-wrenching
need
for
change
feedback
times
you
received
as
a
board
came
on
april.
AH
It
was
one
of
the
few
nighttime
board
meetings
where
working
teachers,
administrators
and
parents
could
address
you.
It's
the
360

that
leaders
need
to
hear
to
have
their
organizations
function.
Well,
they
came
to
you
at
a
risk
of
their
careers,
the
principal
teachers
and
parents
of
meat
heights
elementary
a
title.
One
school
of
67,
low-income
students
from
a
large
portion
of
military
families,
came
to
explain
to
you
the
particular
needs
of
their
school.
They
asked
you
for
relief
from
the
inappropriately
structured
bell
times
for
the

AH
Last

the
school
started
at

This

it
will

at

told

at

for
enrichments.
AH
I
imagine
if
you
accept
these
phrases
from
your
eighty,
two
thousand
students
in
your
system.
We
can't
that's
just
the
way
it
is
it's
complicated,
but
are
you
willing
to
accept
them
from
your
transportation
department?
You
can
do
better.
You
were
given
no
cost
and
low-cost
options
to
improve
mead
heights
and
harm
in
hebron.
By
a
professional
traffic
engineer,
you
had
the
were
offered
the
expertise
of
the
phenomenal
university
of
maryland
transportation,
routing
professionals
at
no
cost
or
low
cost.
AH
AH
You
have
to
lead
to
build
the
grudging
consent
of
the
public
for
needed
change.
No
one
else
can
do
it,
but
you?
How
does
this
appointed
board
want
to
be
remembered?
Hopefully
for
your
action?
Please

safe

appropriate

Thank
you.
B
B
J
All
right,
mr
gilliam,
thank
you,
madam
president.
I
know
during
saturday's
retreat.
You
had
referenced
that
we
engage
and
participate
in
a
number
of
co-ops
and
that
some
of
them
would
be
up
for
for
vote
today,
and
I
just
wanted
to
get
clarification
and
there
are
a
few
we
don't
have
to
go
through
all
of
them,
but
but
in
particular
4.03,
which
is
the
daily
contract
daily
computers.
J
I'm
sorry,
so
it's
got
a
95
million
dollar
cooperative
price
tag
attached
to
it,
but
is:
is
there
any
indication
of
what
that
would
be
for
aacps?
J
T
Certainly
alex
shacknow
chief
operating
officer,
so
we
have
a
cyclical
computer
replacement
program
here.
It's
called
refresh
and
we
do
not
outright
purchase
or
acquire
those
computers
because
they
have
a
relatively
short
life
cycle
and
we
don't
have
the
funding
to
be
able
to
replace
them
on
a
player
plan
an
organized
basis,
so
anne
arundel
county
public
schools,
like
many
organizations
similarly
situated,
goes
through
a
leasing
program
where
we
lease
the
computers
and
therefore
on
a
periodic
schedule.
They
are
replaced
in
total
with
new
hardware.
T
The
the
latest
software
upgrades
and
the
computers
are
also
serviced
and
maintained
by
the
leasing
entity
as
well.
So
this
is
the
capitalized
expected
cost
of
that
leasing
program
over
the
duration
of
the
contract.
T
Right
but
it's
it's
not
a
one-year
cost.
It's
just
understood
that
refresh
program
and
its
totality
thank.
J
B
I
see
4.08
is
the
to
put
the
new
fields
in
at
tiknik
park
and
that's
exciting
to
see-
and
I
know
that
that
was
in
cooperation
with
the
county
executive,
with
parks
and
rec,
so
that
both
that
can
be
used
throughout
the
county.
And
I
love
seeing
that
that
will
be
a
great
benefit
to
our
schools
and
to
the
whole
community
out.
There.
T
It's
a
terrific
partnership
with
the
county
government.
We
look
forward
to
it
as
well
will
benefit
not
just
the
our
student
athletes
and
physical
education
students,
but
if
you
drive
by
the
complex
at
any
hour
of
the
evening
or
any
day
on
a
weekend
or
a
holiday,
it
is
extensively
used
by
both
adult
and
youth
rec
and
park.
Leagues
as
well.
So.
B
All
right
do
we
do.
Are
there
any
other
board,
questions
or
comments?
Is
there
any
public
comment?
So
all
those
in
favor
of
wanting
these
motion
passes
seven
zero,
all
right
item
5.01
is
an
action
item.
Administrative
personnel
appointments,
dr
arlotto,
your
recommendation.
E
B
B
C
This
is
a
board
decision
board
recommendation
on
your
calendar
regarding
the
october
calendar
dates
for
the
upcoming
board
meetings
for
this
school
year.
B
All
right,
so
we
are
making
the
recommendation
to
change
the
october
meeting
date
to
7515
on
october
18th
because
of
the
maryland
association
boards
of
education
annual
conference,
which
most
board
members
will
be
attending
the
previous
week.
Are
there
any?
Are
there
any
board
questions
or
comments
on
this?
Oh
make.

B
C
J
U
B
K
C
Yes,
ma'am
in,
in
short,
we
are.
Let
me
let
me
take
a
step
back
as
you're,
well
aware
that,
as
we
take
on
as
we
bring
on
charter
schools
and
contract
schools,
those
are
those
schools.
C
A
K
Good
afternoon
jeannette
ortiz
for
the
record
legislative
and
policy
council.
Yes,
so
the
policies
that
we
are
recommending
to
rescind
today
have
been
incorporated
into
other
existing
policies.
So
the
subject
matters
are
covered.
Currently,
yes,
correct,
so
they're,
essentially
duplicative.
B
B
B
I
understand
there
was
no
public
comment
on
this
item
as
well.
Correct.
B
B
B
K
Yes,
correct:
there
were
a
couple
of
emails
that
we
received
from
the
public.
K
One
was
just
thanking
us
for
the
policy
and
in
support
of
the
policy,
and
then
a
second
comment
felt
that
it
was
not
did
not
believe
that
the
school
system
should
be
telling
ptas
and
schools
and
students
and
parents
what
their
children
should
be
eating,
and
so
we
were
able
to
clarify
that
this
is
all
federal
law
and
regulation,
and
so
this
is
not.
This
does
not
originate
from
the
school
system,
but
rather
to
be
in
compliance
with
state
and
federal
laws
and
regulations.
B
B
So
this
concludes
the
meeting
of
the
board.
The
board
of
education
next
board
of
education
meeting
is
wednesday
september
6
at

B
B
C
Idea
that
we
are
a
school
system
and
our
clients
are
our
students,
certainly
serving
families
in
the
community
as
well.
But
but
our
primary
responsibility
is
educating
kids
and
so
student
voice
is
very
important,
so
you'll
see
school
boards
across
the
country
have
a
student
board
member,
but
there's
no
place
like
anne
arundel
county
across
the
country.
AJ
Is
the
county's
44th
student
member
on
the
board
and
will
serve
a
one-year
term?
The
student
board
member
position
is
the
only
one
in
the
nation
with
full
voting
privileges.
Just
before
the
kickoff
to
summer,
students
across
the
county
receive
some
amazing
gifts
to
end
the
school
year.
At
marley,
middle
school
students
were
treated
to
a
visit
from
the
bay
hawks,
professional
lacrosse
team,
mascot
and
cheerleaders.
We.
AK
Came
to
marley
middle
school
and
we
actually
made
a
presentation
to
the
students
and
to
the
faculty
as
part
of
our
initiative
for
anne
arundel
county
schools,
we're
giving
away
a
ticket
to
every
middle
school
participant.
That's
18,
000
all
tall,
and
we
just
think
it's
a
really
great
way
of
reaching
out
to
the
community
and
congratulating
them
for
the
accomplishment
of
their
hard
work
for
the
year.
And
we
want
to
support
the
youth
of
our
county
and
certainly
the
comeback
for
us.
AK

Bay

The
rotary
club
of

delivered
an
abundance
of
google

in
support
of
student
achievements.
AI
You
put
it
in
front
of
them;
they
know
how
to
use
it,
there's
joy
in
their
hearts
and
smiles
and
they're
playing
with
it
and
they're
learning
with
it.
That's
the
most
important
thing:
they're,
not
using
outdated
books,
they're
doing
something
their
parents
never
had
an
opportunity
to
do
they're
staying
abreast
of
what
everybody
is
doing
today,
technologically
wise,
which
is
really
important
for
these
kids.
AM
It
keeps
their
interest
in
class,
it
keeps
them
more
tech
forward.
You
know,
because
a
lot
of
these
kids
don't
have
computers
at
home,
so
they
actually
get
to
use
a
computer
when
they
come
to
school.
It
gives
them
that
forward
advantage
over
the
other
kids,
who
already
have
computers
and
doesn't
leave
them
behind
and
that's
the
biggest
thing
about
it
and
they
learn
they
learn
better
because
their
interest
is
in
computers.
AN
This
gift
is
very
special
to
us
and
we
appreciate
everything
that
the
rotary
club
is
doing.
A
gift
like
this
is
priceless
to
our
kids
and
we
really
want
to
thank
them
for
that.
And
hopefully
this
can
now
make
a
partnership
where
we
have
a
partnership
between
tyler
heights
and
the
rotary
club,
and
they
can
continue
to
come
see
our
kids
and
watch
them
learn
and
grow,
and-
and
hopefully
the
partnership
continues.
