Hello,
everyone
hard
to
follow
that
introduction,
so
thank
you.
I
I
can't
tell
you
how
thrilled
I
am
to
be
here.
I
know
what
a
long
time
coming
this
has
been
for
the
hillsmere
community
and
I
truly
appreciate
the
incredible
advocacy
and
support
of
the
community
as
folks
have
been
going
through
this
process.
I
know
we
have
councilwoman
Julie
Hummer
here
who
was
on
the
board
when
this
was
initially
coming
through
and
fought
so
hard
for
it
and
and
I
think
councilwoman
Pickard
also
was
involved
in
that
so
I
think
it's
just.
F
F
F
How
that
building
was
managed
and
used
through
its
long
long
life
and
I.
Remember,
specifically
speaking
with
some
of
the
custodians
and
I
know
the
work
they
did
day
in
and
day
out
to
ensure
that
that
building
up
till
the
last
moment
students
were
in
it
was
kept
in
the
best
possible
condition
it
could
possibly
be
and
that
principal
Terry
and
her
team
used
every
inch
of
that
building
to
make
sure
the
students
always
had
what
they
needed.
F
But
now
we're
here
this
is
spectacular,
it
will
serve
our
students
and
our
amazing
teachers
and
staff
here
beautifully
for
many
years
to
come
and
I
know
this
community.
The
hillsmere
community
has
always
been
such
a
strong
community
and
I
know.
This
will
continue
to
be
just
as
hillsmere
Elementary
always
has
been
a
place
where
generations
of
children
come
and
receive
the
best
possible
education
and
are
part
of
this
amazing
community.
So
thank
you.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
Congratulations.
G
H
Listen
I.
This
is
important
for
me.
I'm
looking
in
this
at
the
audience
right
now
and
as
people
were
walking
in
I
was
just
looking
at
The
Joy
on
many
of
our
faces
of
our
students,
parents,
community
members
who
are
here.
This
is
something
to
definitely
be
proud
of.
You
know,
being
a
person
who's
been
here
only
a
year
and
coming
from
a
school
district,
where
the
last
time
we
were
able
to
pass
a
bond
to
fix
schools
was
1969.
H
H
This
comprehensive
School
construction
program
is
something
that
is
phenomenal
to
me
and
I,
find
myself
bragging
about
it
and
also
I.
Tell
people
how
guilty
I
feel
that
I
get
to
be
superintendent
of
a
school
district
like
this,
when
there
are
some
school
districts
where
buildings
and
infrastructure
are
just
crumbling.
So
that's
something
that
you
all
need
to
be
commended
for
because
we
know
it
costs
money.
It
costs
taxes,
and
we
also
know
that
we
have
to
get
results
it's
more
than
just
having
beautiful
amenities.
But
then
what
is
the
outcome?
H
You
see
it
in
the
school
ratings
and
you'll,
hear
a
lot
about
some
of
our
data
getting
ready
to
come
out
in
a
press
release
later
today
around
the
progress
that
this
school
district
is
making,
but
what
you
get
in
facilities
like
these
they're
equipped
with
video
linked
security
systems,
Double
Entry
security,
vegetables,
climbing
walls
and
gymnasiums
and
all
of
our
elementary
schools,
fully
outfitted
computer
labs,
interactive
whiteboards
in
every
classroom,
state-of-the-art
resources
that
all
of
these
schools
are
equipped
with
this
facility
was
38.9
Million.
H
H
So
when
you
go
and
you
have
an
opportunity
to
tour
this
facility
today,
you
are
in
for
a
treat:
I
have
already
toured
all
of
our
replacement
facilities
and
even
some
of
our
new
builds
and
I'm,
finding
myself
taking
pictures
and
sending
it
to
other
superintendents
across
the
country.
So
with
that
being
said,
I
just
want
to
congratulate
this
community.
I
want
to
thank
this
school
board.
H
I
J
J
This
is
because
to
operate,
maintain
and
renew
the
school
during
the
coming
30
years,
so
that
the
teachers
can
teach
and
the
students
can
learn
in
a
good
environment.
Anne
Arundel
County
will
need
to
invest
another
45
million
or
more,
and
the
state
will
be
contributing
millions
of
dollars
as
well
to
those
coming
Investments
we're
all
here,
because
we
know
we
know
that
the
students
and
teachers
that
this
building
will
serve
are
worth
every
penny
of
these
Investments
and
they
will
pay
dividends
into
the
future
and
the
health
of
our
community.
J
Viet
known
that,
on
behalf
of
the
citizens
of
the
state
in
recognition
of
the
grand
opening
of
hillsmere
newly
constructed
campus,
this
achievement
stands
as
a
testament
to
the
dedication
of
students,
faculty
and
staff
in
upholding
the
highest
standards
of
Education
academic
Excellence.
The
remarkable
commitment
you've
shown
ensures
a
bright
future
for
generations
to
come.
Congratulations
on
this
remarkable
milestone.
K
L
I
mean
if
Senator
mcculski
can
walk
around
with
the
stool,
so
can
I
so
good
morning.
Everybody.
This
is
an
amazing
day
and
I'm
super
proud
to
represent
the
County
Council
in
honoring.
The
commitment
that
we've
made
to
invest
in
schools
today
is
the
first
ribbon
cutting
of
three
that
we'll
embark
on
in
the
next
couple
weeks
of
Elementary,
School's,
opening
and
I.
Just
it
really
is
amazing
to
see
numbers
on
a
spreadsheet
and
votes
for
investment,
become
an
amazing
amazing
building
for
students
to
learn.
I've
brought
Julie
Hummer
up
with
me.
L
Julie
Hummer's
name
is
on
that
plaque
as
a
board
School
Board
member,
when
we
agreed
to
fund
these
schools
she's
also
now
a
County
council
member
representing
District
Four.
So
we
would
like
to
present
a
citation
from
the
County
Council,
which
is
signed
by
all
of
our
members
to
the
school
Community.
You
want
to
come
up,
I
guess:
I'll
get
off
the
stool
now.
L
M
I
just
want
to
say,
I
think
the
last
time
I
was
in
the
hillsmere
building
was
a
few
years
back
when
Lion
King
Jr
was
being
held,
which
was
a
wonderful
performance,
but
my
main
takeaway
besides
the
performance
of
the
kids,
was
that
the
building
was
dark
and
it
is
so
wonderful
to
come
in
here
and
there's
so
much
light
and
the
yellow-
and
this
is
what
a
transformation
so
I'm
so
excited
to
be
here
and
I
look
forward
to
seeing
whatever
the
show
is
going
to
be
this
year.
That
comes
out.
Thank
you.
B
I
am
so
grateful
to
many
individuals
who
worked
on
this
project.
First
I
want
to
thank
each
and
every
person
honor.
My
amazing
hillsmere
staff.
I
cannot
express
enough
to
you
that
every
single
staff
member
in
our
Hornet's
Nest
is
special.
Throughout
this
project.
They
have
shown
teamwork,
resilience
and
tremendous
flexibility
to
make
sure
that
student
safety
and
learning
always
came
first.
I
am
grateful
for
their
example
of
positivity
and
diligence.
They
are
the
reason
our
students
come
to
school
every
day
with
smiles
and
leave
with
hope
students.
B
B
B
They
were
instrumental
in
bringing
some
of
old
hillsmere
to
new
hillsmere.
So
when
you
tour
you'll
get
to
see
some
of
the
great
things
we
were
able
to
save
and
keep
here,
I
also
want
to
recognize
the
impressive
work
of
The
Architects,
Janet,
Patterson
and
Dave
goudreau
with
Ewing
Cole,
the
general
contractor
contractors
at
Whiting,
Turner,
Contracting,
Company,
Craig,
Shanahan,
Greg,
Kyle,
Dinesh,
Pereira
and
Arista
Pine.
B
They
are
forever
Hornets
and
the
team
at
Durham
furniture
for
making
this
process
almost
fun
at
times
as
you
walk
around
the
facility
after
the
ceremony,
I
think
you
will
agree
that
everyone
involved
did
an
incredible
job
on
the
design.
The
construction
and
the
furnishings
I
also
want
to
acknowledge
the
patient's
love
and
sacrifice
of
my
family,
my
husband
Jay,
my
daughter
Lexi,
and
my
son
Malcolm,
as
you
can
imagine,
being
a
principal's,
not
only
a
personal
commitment,
but
one
of
the
entire
family
Lexi
got
all
her
service
hours
this
summer.
N
A
N
Once
again,
thank
you
all
for
coming
today.
We
are
sure
to
have
an
aacps
awesome
school
year.
At
this
time,
students
and
families
will
be
able
to
tour
the
building,
find
classrooms
and
greet
teachers
while
Mrs
Terry
leads
our
special
guests
on
a
brief
tour.
Thank
you
for
coming
and
have
a
great
day.
