A
Hi,
my
name
is
Sandra
I
go
to
South
forever
and
I
am
a
junior,
so
I'm
gonna
start
off
with
the
transition
from
elementary
to
middle
school.
I
think
we
can
all
agree.
It
can
be
quite
dramatic
and
at
least
for
me
it
went
from
really
exciting
to
really
scary
I
started
becoming
aware
of
my
surroundings.
This
isn't
just
recess
anymore.
A
If
somebody
noticed
I
started
middle
school
I
made
friends,
I
learned
where
my
classes
were
even
all
the
new
rules,
but
I
looked
forward
to
my
3a
class,
which
happened
to
be
avid
because
you
had
to
get
an
interview
to
get
in,
so
it
had
to
be
cool
right.
Well,
that
was
the
first
time
any
teacher
genuinely
tried
to
get
to
know
me
miss
Taylor.
Thanks
to
her.
She
focused
my
attention
on
to
school
and
outside
of
school
does
not
matter.
A
She
shared
tips,
tricks
and
pasts,
personal
experiences
that
I
believe
went
far
that
year
and
that
year
only
I
made
principals
on
a
roll
for
the
first
time,
I
felt
confident,
but
that
confidence
only
went
so
far.
Then
it
all
came
back
the
fear,
the
depression.
It
found
its
way
back
into
my
life
significantly
scarier
than
ever
I
had
come
to
know
that
my
great
grandfather,
great
grandmother
and
grandmother,
had
all
passed
within
the
same
12
months.
Also
during
that
year.
My
greatest
injury
had
been
stripped
from
me
due
to
that
injury.
A
I
was
stripped
of
my
purse,
my
personal
space
and
what
little
independence
I
had
I
felt,
worthless
and
lost.
I
became
so
sad
and
lost
trust
in
anyone
in
our
advisory
classes.
They
always
tell
us
if
we
need
to
talk.
We
can
go
to
our
Gardens
counselor,
but
my
guidance
counselor
was
always
so
busy
one
day,
I
finally
decided
that
I
had
enough
of
the
yelling
tired
of
feeling
sad,
tired
of
not
being
heard
and
not
understood.
A
I
was
going
to
go
to
the
guidance
counselor
one
final
time
again:
I
was
left
alone,
I
wrote
on
a
guidance
slip
of
paper.
My
name
is
Kassandra,
barber
I
am
an
eighth
grade.
Student
and
I
want
to
die.
Those
four
words
are
more
powerful
than
I
could
ever
imagine
and
later
that
night
I
was
surrounded
by
my
worst
fear
the
unwanted
attention
my
dad
and
my
mom.
We
were
all
talking
about
how
I
feel
and
why
that's
all
I
ever
tried
to
avoid
I've
always
kept
to
myself.
Exploring
my
sexual
identity.
A
My
depression
in
my
anxiety
were
all
things
no
one
could
ever
find
out.
Everyone
has
their
own
issues
and
I
believe
these
were
mine.
That
uncomfortable
time
came
and
it
passed
then
came
High
School,
where
all
over
again
I
had
to
decide
who
I
was
going
to
live
with
where
I
was
going
to
school,
but
now
will
I
even
pass
high
school
I
started
high
school
at
the
thought
that
I
would
never
become
somebody
I
would
just
be
an
extra
in
the
background.
A
I
was
worthless,
I
am
stupid
and
no
one
will
ever
like
me,
I,
believe
challenging
your
limits
means
you
pause
long
enough
to
understand
what
it
is
all
about
before
deciding
what
to
do
for
me
challenging
my
limits
was
overcoming
the
feeling
of
worthlessness
it
took
years
and
the
right
people
in
my
life
to
help
me
overcome
my
so-called
limits.
There
are
seven
steps
that
I
have
learned
can
help
anyone
overcome
their
limits.
Step
1
find
someone
to
help
push
you.
This
person
is
my
best
friend.
A
She
saw
me
for
me
and
not
the
person
I
put
on
she
told
me
a
positive
attitude
will
go
far
and
she
always
had
a
smile,
which
I
believe
means
a
lot
step.
2
take
on
a
little
more
than
what
you
think
now.
My
dad
has
always
told
me
plan
for
more
than
what
you
think
and
eventually
you'll
be
able
to
do
it
and
not
only
do
it
but
make
it
look.
Effortless
step
3.
Imagine
reaching
your
next
school
now.
My
mom
has
always
said.
A
If
you
really
visualize
your
goal,
eventually,
it
will
be
complete
and
step
4.
Look
at
how
others
reached
to
where
you
want
to
go
now:
I,
don't
know
where
I
want
to
go,
but
I
just
look
around
the
people.
In
my
life
they
are
all
different.
Yet
all
the
same,
they
each
have
different
backgrounds,
thoughts,
opinions
and
aspire
to
do
different
things,
but
they
achieve
their
goals
relatively
the
same.
They
all
respect
reflect
on
past
experiences,
missed
opportunities
but
decide.
The
past
has
only
helped
them
to
become
more
successful
and
wise
for
the
time
coming.
A
Step.
5
inspire
yourself
to
action.
Now
this
stuff
was
the
hardest
for
me.
It
seemed
like
I
almost
didn't
want
to
feel
better.
I
never
wanted
to
make
the
first
step
to
dealing
with
my
feelings.
It
took
until
my
ovid
teacher
last
year
to
tell
me
focus
on
what
you
can
do
and
then
change
it
don't
think
step
6
is
don't
stop
until
exhaustion.
Now,
by
the
end
of
the
day,
if
you
feel
like
you
can
do
more,
don't
reminisce
get
up
and
do
something.
A
Each
little
thing
you
do
can
add
up
there's
24
hours
in
a
day,
but
over
a
million
things
you
could
do
you
just
have
to
progress
a
little
further.
Finally,
step
7
is
work
on
your
weakness
now,
step
7
really
has
no
end.
If
you
think
about
it
each
day
you
work
on
a
weakness,
maybe
even
without
thinking
to
overcome
our
own
challenges.
We
must
create
a
goal
now.
My
current
goal
is
to
find
the
perfect
balance
between
school
work
and
maintaining
a
good
social
life.
