Description
A segment from the NewsMakers program produced by Arlington Virginia Network featuring the Safety First event, an interactive afternoon of awareness seminars, safety tips, and crime prevention that took place at Kenmore Middle School in February 2008.
A
I'd
like
to
thank
everybody
for
coming
out
here
today.
My
name
is
jay
farr,
I'm
the
commander
of
the
operations
division
I'll,
be
assisted
today
by
cath,
michelle
nunneville,
and
michelle
and
her
crew
are
really
the
people
most
responsible
for
putting
this
program
together.
Today,
they've
got
a
really
great
presentation
of
a
number
of
things
for
you
lined
up
all
afternoon
things
that
will
help
you
and
help
your
family
be
safe
and
secure
here
in
arlington
county
while
you're.
A
Here,
you
also
have
the
opportunity
it's
unusual,
but
you
have
the
opportunity
to
speak
with
the
sheriff's
department.
The
fire
department
office
of
emergency
management
planning
is
here
as
well
plus
members
of
the
arlington
county
police
department.
So
you
have
an
opportunity
to
go
down
the
hall
talk
to
people
questions
you
might
have
about
what
we
do
the
businesses
we're
in
and
how
we
can
be
of
assistance
to
you.
B
We're
actually
having
a
vast
array
of
our
agencies
within
arlington
county
to
include
the
orange
county
police
department,
our
fire
department,
the
office
of
emergency
management.
Also,
we
have
the
sheriff's
office
and
we
have
a
officer.
The
virginia
state
police
are
here
today
to
represent,
because
we
also
do
a
lot
of
things
with
them.
D
The
big
red
truck
is
our
pride
and
joy.
That's
our
command
unit.
The
ladder
trucks
coming
in
later
they'll
put
the
ladder
up
for
the
kids
to
watch
and
so
we'll
be
recycling
a
lot
of
different
apparatus
through
here
today.
D
E
All
it's
good.
What
we're
doing
in
this
particular
booth
is,
we
are
doing
kid.
Fingerprinting,
that
is,
every
parent
should
have
a
set
of
fingerprints
for
his
or
her
child
in
case
of
an
emergency,
and
then
you
have
the
card
that
you
take
home.
We
don't
keep
them,
you
take
the
card
home,
put
it
in
a
safe
deposit
box
and
you've
got
the
record
that
you
might
need,
hopefully
never
will
need,
but
it's
available.
If
you
have
it.
B
E
E
It's
an
event
that
is
designed
for
the
family,
as
has
been
mentioned
before,
there's
the
demonstration
of
the
canine
dogs.
There's
a
bomb
dog,
there's
a
drug
dog
that
demonstrate
their
skills,
there's
also
the
lectures
that
are
for
mostly
for
the
parents,
but
some
of
them
may
even
be
interesting
for
the
kids.
