From YouTube: NewsMakers: Courthouse Marriott Opening
Description
The Courthouse Marriott finally opened it's doors after years of construction. Arlington County Board Chair Barbara Favola was there to cut the ribbon as for the grand opening. A special and unique art exhibit was also unveiled and dedicated in hopes to give the community another place to gather.
A
After
many
years
of
planning
and
construction,
the
residence
inn
marriott
in
courthouse
proudly
opened
its
doors
for
business.
Arlington
county
officials
know
that
the
opening
of
the
hotel
will
help
bring
jobs,
travelers
and
income
into
the
county
and
hopes
that,
with
the
new
interactive
art
exhibit
in
the
courtyard,
the
community
will
have
another
place
to
gather
neighbors.
C
Grand
opening
of
a
hotel
is
a
special
event.
It
is
for
many.
The
completion
of
years
of
work
sounds
like
for
this
hotel,
maybe
many
years
of
work
to
have
a
great
piece
of
art,
not
just
literally
the
art
in
front
of
us,
but
the
art
that's
associated
with
this
building
behind
us,
come
to
fruition
and
complete
the
work
of
so
many
of
the
people
that
are
here
and
that
by
itself
is
a
very
special
event.
C
D
Everybody
here
we
have
the
best
example
of
what
we're
trying
to
create
in
Arlington
in
terms
of
public
art
that
I
have
seen.
This
is
the
courtyard
new
Marriott,
just
open
them
and
take
a
look
at
what
we
got
here.
We
got
something
that
has
flowing
water.
Kids
can
take
off
the
shoes
and
walk
in
it
without
any
fear
their
parents
that
I'm
drowning,
because
it's
only
a
half
an
inch
thick.
It's
got
movement,
you've
got
places
to
sit,
you've
got
places
to
gather
together,
but
you
can
also
walk
through
this
public
art.
D
E
The
courthouse
Plaza
is
the
name
of
fountain
is
the
name
of
the
piece
and
the
original
concept
came
from
the
water's
coming
down
off
of
the
Appalachia,
so
the
water
comes
out
of
the
fountain
there
and
the
benches
are
the
plateaus
and,
and
then
the
rivers
that
come
down
to
the
arlington
area,
the
Potomac
and
then
this.
These
three
columns
here
are
representing
the
trees
that
that
you
encounter
coming
down
to
the
shoreline,
but
also
the
tree
that
we
also
took
down
from
this
area
that
that
that
replaced
the
hotel.
E
So
we
kind
of
put
it
all
as
a
little
diorama
of
things
that
hopefully
it's
all
hands
on
you
know.
I
saw
the
kids
playing
the
earlier
today
and
you
can
sit
and
and
face
any
direction
on
the
benches
you
can
on
the
other
one.
You
can
sit
and
turn
your
direction.
It
swivels,
so
I
I
think
that
I,
never
from
what
I've
heard
it's
very
successful,
already
being
and
an
interactive
component.
