Description
In the April 14 edition the County Executive will anser residents' questions on bulk trash pickup, community stream clean up initiatives and more.
A
Welcome
to
another
edition
of
ask
Jim
Smith.
The
first
question
today
comes
from
susan
in
catonsville.
Susan
wants
to
know
how
her
community
can
get
involved
in
a
stream
clean
up
in
the
catonsville
area.
Susan
I
really
appreciate
your
question.
It's
great.
When
the
community
responds
with
an
understanding
of
how
important
they
are
to
LOL
quality
of
life.
Quite
frankly,
a
stream
clean
up
to
run
through
the
Department
of
Environmental
Protection
and
resource
management
in
Baltimore
County.
A
You
can
call
Steve,
Stewart
Steve
Stewart
of
watershed
management
at
410,
887,
5683
5683,
and
he
can
help
you
coordinate
that
and
I
look
forward
to
the
results
of
your
screen
clean
up
and
really
do
appreciate
your
your
interest
and
the
commitment
of
your
community.
Our
second
question
comes
from
for
tisha
in
randallstown.
Patricia
wants
to
know
why
Baltimore
County
doesn't
do
bulk
bulk
trash
pickup
Patricia.
We
haven't
done
bulk
trash
pickup
for
a
while.
A
It's
just
really
not
cost-effective,
and
in
these
tough
economic
times
it
would
really
be
impossible
to
initiate
that
and
really
at
this
time.
In
fact,
you
may
have
noticed
that
even
in
Baltimore
City
as
part
of
their
cutbacks,
they
have
cut
out
bulk
trash
pickup,
but
you
can
obviously
get
bulk
trash
pickup.
You
can
go
to
your
yellow
pages
and
look
under
trash,
pickup
and
and
frankly,
there's
so
many
telephone
directories.
You
might
want
to
go
to
the
web
and
just
do
a
search
on
the
web
for
for
for
trash
for
hauling
for
trash
pickup.
A
A
A
The
budget
that
just
is
announced
for
next
year
provides
for
no
layoffs
and
no
furloughs
for
county
employees
and
frankly,
these
are
two
year
agreements,
so
it
also
provides
for
for
that
to
continue
not
only
in
fiscal
year
11,
but
also
in
fiscal
year
12.
Now
this
is
the
result
of
doing
a
lot
of
things
over
a
long
period
of
time,
doing
doing
them
well,
managing
with
real
fiscal
responsibility
and
with
a
lot
of
cooperation
of
everybody
involved
in
the
process.
