From YouTube: Baltimore County Dedication of Artificial Turf
Description
Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith, joined by Councilman T. Bryan McIntire and Recreation and Parks officials, dedicated the new artificial safety turf field at Seminary Park in Lutherville and announced the County's initiative to install eight additional artificial safety turf fields. With two fields already completed at Seminary Park and Catonsville High School, Baltimore County is one of the leaders in Maryland - with ten publicly owned artificial turf fields -- in providing its citizens with the benefits that artificial safety turf offers.

What
we're
doing
with
the
artificial
turf
is
we're
protecting
open
space,
we're
protecting
Mother
Nature,
because,
what's
happened
is
we
have
so
many
activities
on
these
athletic
fields
that
mother
nature
cannot
handle
it
in
the
sense
that
the
grass
immediately
very
quickly
gets
eroded
off?
Then
we
have
nothing
but
mud.
We
have
ruts.
We
have
an
unsafe
condition
for
for
for
children.
What
this
does?
It
protects
open
space
tremendously
and
allows
for
active
of
open
space
to
be
used.
