Description
Kathleen Young, Programming Manager, Senior Centers and Community Services
Baltimore County Department of Aging
A
Welcome
back
to
the
time
of
your
life
I'm,
your
host
Ethel
Rasmussen,
whether
you're
interested
in
day
trips,
dinner,
theaters
cruises,
and
everything
in
between
our
next
guest
offers.
What
you
need
to
know
about
travel
options
with
the
Baltimore
County
senior
centers
with
us
today
is
Kathleen
young
programming
manager
for
senior
centers
and
community
services
at
the
Baltimore
County
Department
of
Aging
Kathleen.
Welcome
to
the
show,
thanks
for.
B
A
B
Sure
so
all
most
of
our
senior
centers
have
in-person
offices
staffed
with
volunteer
coordinators
that
plan
the
trips.
You
can
call
the
center
to
find
out
the
hours
as
they
do
vary
from
Center
to
Center,
but
most
are
open
during
the
center's
operating
hours,
which
are
usually
8,
30
to
3,
30
or
8
30
until
4.
again,
I
would
call
them
to
verify
their
hours
and
then
some
Centers
do
not
have
travel
office
hours,
but
they
have
more
of
a
self-service
station
where
you
can
come
in
fill
out.
B
B
So
you
do
need
to
be
a
senior
a
member
of
a
senior
center
and
you
do
have
to
be
60
and
over
or
your
spouse
has
to
be
60
and
older.
There
are
a
few
of
our
centers
where
you
can
be
50
and
older
to
join
some
of
those
centers.
So
we
do
ask
you
to
be
a
member.
You
can
sometimes
bring
a
guest
if
there
is
space
on
the
trip.
B
If
you
have
a
guest
that
is
under
60,
that
is
also
allowed,
and
occasionally
some
senior
centers
will
offer
intergenerational
trips,
where
children
could
be
allowed
to
go
on
those
trips
as
well,
and
if
you
have
any
Ada
accommodation
requests.
Those
should
be
made
at
the
time
that
you
sign
up
for
the
trip
and
the
center
will
do
their
best
to
make
those
accommodations
for
you.
B
A
B
There
is
a
lot
so
I'm
just
going
to
give
you
a
couple.
There
is
a
murder
mystery
coming
up
at
the
Mount
Hope
mansion
with
lunch
and
a
visit
to
Mount
Hope
Winery,
and
that
is
through
by
Coda
Senior
Center
on
April
18th,
the
Cockeysville
Senior
Center
is
doing
a
visit
to
the
National
Cathedral
Flower
Mart
and
lunch
is
also
included.
There
is
a
riverboat
cruise
on
the
Choptank,
River
and
dining
on
steamed,
crabs
and
more,
and
that
is
through
Edgemere
Senior
Center
on
July
20th
at
East.
B
Senior
Center
has
a
trip
scheduled
to
the
Dutch
Apple
Dinner
Theater
for
the
show
Footloose,
and
that
is
on
May
17th
and
at
ease
is
going
to
New
York
for
the
911
memorial
and
Museum
on
June
14th.
There
are
also
a
number
of
overnight
trips
that
are
very
exciting
Essex
Senior
Center
is
traveling
to
Chicago
for
six
days
and
five
nights
to
explore
all
that
Chicago
has
to
offer,
and
that
is
from
April
24th
to
April
29th
Catonsville
Senior
Center
is
going
to
Nova
Scotia
from
July
8th
through
the
19th
by
Coda.
B
Senior
Center
is
offering
a
trip
to
Montreal
and
Quebec
City
Canada
from
August
14th
through
the
18th
and
Parkville
Senior
Center
is
going
to
the
Smoky
Mountains
August
25th
through
September
1st
and
lastly,
Essex
Senior
Center
is
offering
a
Norwegian
Escape
cruise
to
Virginia,
Beach
and
Bermuda
from
October
29th
to
OCT,
November
5th
and
the
cruise
does
depart
from
New,
York
and
bus
transportation
is
included
and
I
would
like
to
sign
up
for
that
trip.
They.
A
B
Senior
box
office
celebrated
their
40th
anniversary
last
year,
so
they
have
a
special
of
25
membership
for
the
year
and
what
senior
box
office
does
is
they
allow
their
members
to
enjoy
theater
concerts,
museums,
lectures
and
other
events
with
two
for
one
prices,
reduced
ticket
prices
or
complimentary
tickets
for
shows?
So
all
the
members
can
enjoy
and
have
those
options
they
do
offer
trips
as
well,
and
you
do
not
have
to
be
a
member
of
senior
box
office
to
travel
with
them.
They
have
an
early
bird
special
that
I
want
to
mention.
B
If
you
join
before
July
you'll
get
six
months
free,
so
you'll
get
an
18-month
membership
for
the
price
of
12
at
25.
You
can
go
to
their
website
at
seniorboxoffice.org.
You
can
find
out
how
to
join.
You
can
actually
register
online
to
be
a
member
of
senior
box
office
and
you
you
can
see
all
of
the
tours
that
they're
offering
and
trips
as
well
and
you're
50.
You
know.
B
55
and
older
is
the
age
to
join
senior
box
office
and
if
I
could
tell
you
about
a
couple
of
their
trips
coming
up
on
March
10th,
they
have
a
Philadelphia
Flower
Show
April
13th.
They
are
going
to
see
Moses
at
Sight
and
Sound
in
PA,
and
lunch
at
the
Miller
Smorgasbord
is
included
on
May
2nd.
They
are
going
to
visit
the
national
museum
of
Africa,
American
history
and
culture
in
Washington,
D.C,
May,
17th,
they're,
going
to
tour
the
National
Shrine
of
Saint
Elizabeth
and
Seton,
and
dine
at
the
Carriage
House
restaurant
on
June
1st.
B
You
can
view
bcda's
travel
calendar
on
the
website
that
is
on
the
screen
there.
You
can
also
call
your
local
Senior
Center
for
more
information
about
their
trips.
You
can
visit
the
SBO
website
and
also
travel
opportunities
are
printed
in
bcda's
print
publication
of
the
time
of
your
life,
and
you
can
get
a
big
listing
in
the
newspaper
for
there.
A
B
Thank
you
and
I
just
want
to
encourage
our
older
adults
to
take
advantage
of
these
travel
opportunities.
It's
a
great
way
to
meet
new
people,
visit
new
places
and
see
new
things,
and
you
don't
have
to
have
a
travel
partner
to
travel
with
any
of
our
centers.
If
it's
an
overnight
trip
and
if
you
don't
want
to
pay
the
single
price,
they
are
happy
to
try
and
pair
you
up
with
the
knuckle
another
single
person.
