formed

support

character

their
children.

we're
celebrating
the
characterized
student
of
the
month
exhibiting
the
character
traits
of
friendship
and
kindness.
Friendship
is
defined
as
the
emotions
or
conduct
of
friends.
The
state
of
being
friends
relationship,

known
him,
he

always
someone
that
will
greet

with
the
kindest
smile
in
the
hallway

look

helping

whether
it's

students
and

successful

staff

day
was
September
17th.
As
far
as
I
can
see.
Only
Hilton
Head
Island
Elementary
engaged
the
students
in
some
type
of
program
to
learn
about
the
constitution
on
Friday
September
16th
Federal
Law
requires
students
which
require
schools
that
receive
federal
funds
to
engage
their
students
in
a
lesson
about
the
constitution
on
Constitution
Day
or
the
week
prior
to
or
after
when
Constitution
Day
falls
on
a
weekend.

are
still
three
days
left
for
all
the
schools
in
Beaufort
County
to
have
lessons
about
the
United
States
Constitution,
a
special
thank
you
to
miss
Brockway,
Mr
Juan
and
all
the
teachers
and
staff
at
Hilton,
Head,
Island
Elementary
for
working
so
hard
to
help.
The
kids
learn
something
about
the
Constitution
last
Friday
the
kids
were
encouraged
to
wear,
colors,
red
white
and
blue
is
a
symbol
of
their
support
for
the
US
Constitution
and
may
I
remind
everyone.

with
rights,
duties
and
responsibilities,
and
our
constitution
is
here
for
everyone.

District
staff
about
the
protection

people's

felt
it

more
important
to
train
teachers,

Cook,
is
an
advocate
for
our
children
and
their
rights,
along
with
our
rights
as
their
parents
and
all
the
families
in
the
community.
He
fights
for
what
he
believed

right
and
fair
for
all
of
us.
However,
it
has
come
to
my
attention
recently
that
his
name
is
being
tossed
around
as
a
troublemaker.

is
even
more
frightening
the
fact
that
yesterday
we
received
an
unannounced
visit
to
our
home
by
a
social
worker
from
the
Hilton
Head
creative
arts
school
due
to
some
sort
of
issue
related
to
our
child's
registration,
which
is
not
even
the
school
he
goes
to,
since,
when
social
workers
are
deployed
to
deployed
to
homes
for
enrollment
issues,
with
our
first
trying
to
conquer
parents
via
phone
mail
or
email,
even
two
school
principals
admit
it.
That
is
not
the
protocol,
so
why
did
this
happen?

all
very
strange
and
honestly,
it
makes
me
think
we
have
a
Target
on
our
backs.
It's
very
sad.
It
is

disappointing
because
we're
good
members
of
the
community-
and
we
want
to
raise
good
kids
that
participate

hope
that
is
not
the
case.

hope
that
his
name
is
not
being
used

what
we're
saying

heard

has
very
good
intentions.

move

Yet
the
audit
is
going
on

we

a
fund
balance
of

tax
revenues.

5.8
million,

increase

our
fund
balance.
The
fund
balance
is
at
a
level
where
we
are
able
to
reduce
our
tax
anticipation
note
in
the
fall,
so
this
fund
balance
is
as
of
June
30th
and,
as
you
all
know,
as
we
continue
to
spend.

we
start
the
new
school
year
have
our
make
payroll
and
pay
the
bills
that
balance
that
cash
balance
does
decline,
continue
to
decline
in
the
fall
as
we
do
not
receive
tax
revenues
until
December.
So
it
is
necessary

borrow
a
7.5
million
dollar
tan
this
year,
as
opposed
to
what
we
would
have
normally
with
the
15
million.

that
is
a
benefit

there

number
of
questions
during

board
meeting,

it
took
some
lengthy
conversation
in
in
interest
of
time.
I
thought
it
would
be
best
to
further
dive
into
some
of
the
details
to
provide
some
clarity
of
the
information
we
do
have
a
number
of
Grants.

have
five
different
grants
in
the
Esser
plan
and
it
does
Each
of
which
expire
annually,
and
so
it
provides
it.
It
generates
some
confusion
between
when
we're
talking
about
the
various
spending
and
activities,
and
so
I
thought
that
it
would
be
best
to
bring
some
further
detail
of
the
activities,
maybe
in
a
Consolidated
format.
So
you
can
see
actually
what
we're
spending
on
the
programs
themselves
in
totality
and
not
just
by
individual
Grant
like
you've,
been
seeing
the
middle
monthly
basis.

Additionally,
budget
trans
transfers,
as
we
are,
transferring
funds
around
from
one
Grant
to
the
other
to
spend
the
oldest
funds.
First,
those
budget
transfers
were
requested
to
come
before
the
board
as
well,
and
so

suggestion

recommendation
was
to
bring
it
to
committee
first
and
then
to
through
to
the
full
board
so
that
a
lot
of
the
questions
can
be
vetted
at
the
committee
level,
but
certainly
it's
purview
of
the
board.

committee
meeting
last
week
we
had
it
at
Battery
Creek,
High
School,
which
is
in
one
of
our
big
projects
we
had

new
ROTC
Wing.
We
walked
past
the
beautiful
new
weight
rooms
and
saw
what
the
work
being
done
out
in
the
fields,
and
so
that
was
a
really
nice
way
to
start
off.

remotely
and

wanted
to
take
a
moment
to
express
my
appreciation
for
Mr
Rob,
Corbin,
Mr,
Robert
otting
and
his
staff,
because
it
is
a
lot
of
information

present
and
I
am
going
to
do
my
level
best
to
give
a
quick
synopsis
of
that
meeting
and
save
time
for
questions,
but
I
want
the
public
and
other
board
members
to
know
that
we
go

this
very
thoroughly

this
packet

operations

contractor,

essentially

I'll
call
human
resource
questions
regarding
custodial
Services,
Staffing
salary
benefits,
and
we
spent
quite
a
bit
of
time
going
over
some
of
those
questions
with
the
staff
in
October.
They
are
already
planning
on
coming
back
with
the
maintenance
contractors
to
do
our
bi-annual
sort
of
evaluation
of
those
two
contracts,
so
kind
of
where
I
would
like
to
leave.
This
report
at
this
time
is
that
we
gave
them
a
lot
of
feedback.

addressed
a
lot
of
concerns.
We
asked
a
lot
of
questions
and
we
told
them
to
come
back
in
October
with
some
good
answers.
They
did
share
that
hiring
has
been
challenging,
particularly
in
areas
like
Hilton
Head,
where
you
know
there's
so
much
pressure
for
for
staff,
but
that
they
were
improving,
so
we're
going
to
be
looking
to
for
those
Trends.
So
that's
kind
of
where
we
left
it.

did
spend
a
fair
amount
of
time
with
them,
but
they
will
be
coming
back
in
October
and
I'll
bring
a
more
fulsome
report

that

then
we
moved
on
to
a
construction,
update
and
I'm
going
to
give
you

five
word
summary

the
construction
update
budget
and
scheduling
concerns
persist
that
pretty
much
sums
it
up.

staff
is
working
very
hard
to
limit
the
budgeting
and
budget
scheduling
concerns
right
now.

big
issue
that
was
on
the
table
was
what
we're
calling
mid
program
reset
2.0
and
basically
the
aforementioned
budget
and
scheduling
concerns
have
required
some
extra
funding,
and
fortunately,
we
had
a
30
million
dollar
bid
premium,

I
have
tried
to
explain
to
friends
and
family
that
have
asked
what's
a
bid
premium,
it's
just.
Basically.
If
someone
wants
to
ask
that
question,
they
can
answer
it
for
me.
Essentially,
we
just
got
more
money.
We
they
loaned
us
more
money
than
we
asked
for.

has

to

full
and

scope

to

to

High
School
access
realignment.

was
a

expansion,

Memorial
Bridge

they

pushback
on

framework

to
eliminate
barriers
and

outcomes

an
equitable,
tiered
approach
to
monitoring,
analyzing
and
supporting
student
needs

achievement.

focuses
on
quality
core
core
instruction,

emphasis
on
Intervention
tier
one

all

our

happens
daily
within
the
classroom.

are
those
instructional
practices

schools
that
focus

teachers

our
students

mastery
tier

instruction
is
specific
for
student

supplemental

are

would
qualify
to
be
a
vet
tech,

weldert
or

heavy
equipment

getting
into

in

of

want

make
now
is
to
respond
to
report
comment
in
regards
to
some
of
the
programs.
If
you
really
want
parents
to
come
to
schools
to
work
with
their
kids
or
work
with
them
at
home,
you've
got
to
consider
engaging
in
them
a
little
bit
more
and
maybe
perhaps
educating
them
on
what
their
actual
rights
are.
As
far
as
education
goes,
not
many
parents
understand
the
protection
of
pupils,
rights,
I,
think
having
a
little
parental
education.
There
would
be
very
successful
in
the
classroom
with
their
students
one.

successful
students

what

change
or
modify

are
hearing

teachers

asking
because
children
need
to
be
taught
how

what
to
think
the
lessons
in
social
emotional
learning
are
absolutely
destabilizing
the
emotional
Horizon
of
the
children
in
our
schools
they're
doing
the
exact
opposite
for
which
they
were
intended.

inherently
good

born

hate,
but
when
you
teach
children
that
the
kid
across

classroom
might
be
treated
better

the
color
of
his
skin
and
might
get
more
things

of
the
color

skin,

only

children

but

are
also
teaching
them
to
be
hateful
of
people
that
have
a
different
color
skin
teaching.
Children
that
our
country
is
inherently
racist
is
the
practice
of
teaching
critical

Theory
legislation
has
been
passed,
declaring
the
teaching
of
this
material
violates
the
budget.

funding
can
be
withheld

these
violations.

teaching
them
the
wrong
things,

know
the
teachers
don't
decide
the
curriculum
and
they're
not

fault.
For
this
critical
race
theory
is
in
our
schools.

look

the
books
like
stamped
the
hate
you
give
anti-racist
baby,
which
is
actually
in
an
elementary
school
titles
that
are
in
all
of
our
school
libraries.
In
regards
to
classroom
libraries
from
what
I
understand
in
Hilton
Head
Island
Elementary,
almost
every
classroom
has
its
own
Library.

don't
we
require
the
media
specialist
to
catalog
all
the
books
in
the
classroom,
libraries,
let's
give
the
teachers
a
break
with
this
I'm,
estimating
they're
anywhere
from
eight
thousand
to
ten
thousand
books,
just
in
Hilton
Head,
Island,
Elementary,
IB
classrooms
that
are
not
cataloged
and
I'm
sure
there
are
books
that
contain
material.
That's
inappropriate
if
read
to
or
read
by
an
elementary
school
age,
child.
