I've
been
here
got
here
in
june,
so
we're
crossing
the
eight
month
mark
and,
as
I've
learned,
the
county
three
things
popped
out
of
me
that
I
did
not
understand
for
the
first
six
months
until
I
really
started
digging
into
things:
open
land,
trust,
rural
critical
lands
and
pass
the
parks.
Okay,
I
thought
they
were
all
the
same
thing.
I
didn't
know
what
that
meant.

I've
come
to
learn
what
each
aspect
of
those
things
do
and
kind
of.
I
think
starting
to
incorporate
them
a
lot
better
for
our
citizens
to
learn
what
each
one
of
those
are
all
those
are.
I
normally
cage
off
my
wife
and
neighbors
because
they're
the
perfect
examples
and
because
my
wife
doesn't
pay
attention.
The
only
thing
she
knew
about
when
we
moved
here
was
the
husky
fairy
literally
she's,
like
I've
heard
about
this
fairy
thing.
Everything.

gauge
it
off
of
that
my
neighbors
and
we're
in
the
south
of
the
county,
so
a
little
different
perspective
and
most
of
them
have
moved
from
the
north,
where
everything's
already
preserved
pretty
much,
except
for
some
houses

have
these
humongous
state
parks
and
stuff.
So
trying
to
get
them
to
understand
has
been
kind
of
where
I
gauge
my
messaging
off
of,
but
the
average
person
thinks
that
all
three
are
kind
of
the
same
or
don't
understand
or
just
kind
of
move
on
with
life.

pastor
parks
was
the
most
common,
oh
yeah.
I
know
what
that
is,
because
that's
what
people
use?
That's
what
people
go
to
and
that's
what
people
can
walk
through
and
do
those
types
of
things
so
that
one,
I
think
I
kind
of
stepped
off
off
to
the
side
and
said:
okay,
that's
pretty
much
taking
care
of
itself.

So
that
is
what
the
media
always
wants
up
front,
so
you'll
see
that
within
the
either
the
first
reception
paragraph
of
every
one
of
our
releases,
the
beaufort
county
council
through
the
rural,
critical
land
preservation
program
provided
funding
for
and
then
we
went
into
the
project.
Okay,
so
that's
kind
of
how
I'm
I'm
marketing
it.

And
I,
at
the
end
of
this,
I
welcome
your
feedback,
because
people
view
that
as
oh,
that's,
where
the
money's
coming
from,
they
don't
understand
how
the
money
gets
there,
but
they
understand
that's
where
the
money
is
coming
from
to
make
it
possible
to
not
have
a
development
go
up
in
mr
glover's
backyard,
not
to
how
they
got
the
passive
part
and
be
able
to
use
that
passive
part.
So
that's
kind
of
the
beautiful
that
I'm
using
to
catch
the
public's
attention
to
help
them
understand
so
different
ways
that
we've
been
doing.
That
is.

much
I
will
tell
you.
One
thing
would
do
better
because
I
actually
just
found
it
today,
and
that
was
my
fault
because
I
didn't
know
you
had
your
own
facebook
page.
They
had
a
lot
of
great
information
about
it.
So
we'll
start
tagging
and
doing
all
those
social
media
things
we
hired
a
social
media
specialist.

She
comes
from
appalachia
state
on
western
north
carolina,
so
she
knows
about
these
issues.
She
is
fully
focused
on
social
media
and
informing
and
getting
our
platforms
and
growing
our
following
on
that,
which
will
be
a
good
thing,
because
the
more
people
we
get
following
the
more
they
share.
The
more
people
understand
about
the
programs
and
then
when
they
see
it
in
the
newspaper-
and
they
see
another
thing
on
tv,
they
then
understand
what
it
is.

Obviously,
this
is
a
long-term
strategy.
It
won't
happen
overnight.
The
other
thing
that
we're
starting
we
actually
started
it
today
is
what
we
call
flicker
page.
It's
essentially
just
albums
of
pictures.
What
I've
found
in
past
job
experiences
is
people
love
to
go,
find
pictures
and
use
them.
So
if
I
can
provide
them
the
pictures
with
the
tag
underneath
it
they're
much
media
charities,
other
anybody
that
wants
to
talk
about
it,
they'll
start
using
them,
and
you
have
some
of
the
best
pictures,
so
the
most
popular
social
media
site
in
the.

Is
nasa
why
they
have
amazing
pictures
of
planets
and
gases
and
explosions
and
everything
else
right?
So
natural
pictures
of
beaufort
county
have
come
to
learn
very
fast
people
absolutely
love
them.
They
love
to
pull
them,
they
want
to
use
them
for
their
presentations
and
then,
if
we
have
a
tag
in
there
that
says
you
know
this
land
is
protected
by
royal
critical
lands,
though
it
starts
that
process
right.
I'm
in
got
voted
vice
president
of
my
alumni
chapter
four
attorney
and
they
were
like
we.

It
was
like,
oh
yeah,
okay,
so
it's
just
natural
people
start
using
it'll,
start
searching
and
start
finding
that
stuff.
Another
thing
we
can
do-
and
I
think
this
will
be
another
great
one
too-
is
we
get
a
30
second
add
on?
What's
called
gas
station
tv,
so
I
don't
know
if
any
of
you
have
been
at
the
independent
gas
stations,
not
parkers
or
but
those
shells,
other
ones,
and
pull
up
the
pump
and
they've
played
tv
commercials.

then
my
daughter
was
like:
oh
did
you
hear
what
happened
and
I'm
like?
Why
do
I
know
that
happened?
Oh,
I
was
standing
at
the
gas
pump
pumping
my
gas,
for
you
know
two
minutes
and
I
had
to
listen
to
the
thing.
So
it's
the
same
same
kind
of
concept
down
here.
People
have
actually
started
coming
up
to
detention
officers
that
were
in
it
when
in
a
commercial
hurricane
preparedness.
Other
things
like
that,
then,
like
I
saw
you
as
a
guest
on
me
outside
thing.
So
it's
been
very
successful.

It's
much
more
cost
effective
and
tv
commercials,
because
normally
a
lot
more
they'll
put
you
on
at
midnight
and
since
you're
on
tv
to
get
the
actual
like
six
o'clock
news
slot
is
for
coca-cola
and
pepsi
and
that
type
of
stuff.
So
there's
another
good
thing
that
we're
doing
and
then
the
final
thing
is.
We
have
opportunities
on
hhi
tv,
along
with
the
county
channel,
so
the
county
channel
broadcasting.
This
we've
started
to
kind
of
zone
in
the
shows
to
hit
topics
during
the
year
between
coastline.

The
other
thing
is:
I've
talked
to
rob
from,
he
does
coastal
kingdom,
so
if
they're
ever
on
or
around
property
that
has
to
do
with
this,
I'm
going
to
make
sure
he
makes
sure
that's
part
of
the
dialogue
that
goes
in
there,
because
that's
another
great
show
that's
actually
picked
up
and
watched
in
a
lot
of
different
places.
We
also
bought
ad
time
on
hhi
tv.

Actually,
a
partnership
is
quite
a
better
way
to
put
it
to
where
we
get
every
four
months,
a
30
minute
block
that
we
can
talk
about
the
different
programs
and
around
hilton
head.
We
get
to
run
it
on
county
channel
tv,
they
run
it
on
their
programs
and
then
we
can
also
share
it
on
tv
and
they
break
it
up
into
the
10-minute
block.
So
it's
more
manageable.
So
the.

Did
was
the
library
and
then
we
did
engineering
at
two
different
spots,
because
karen
has
too
much
going
on
a
lot
of
times
the
engineering
stuff
and
before
that
I
think
we
did
parks
and
rec,
and
you
know
some
other
things
like
that,
so
those
are
all
the
types
of
things
that
we're
trying
to
get
out
into
the
market.
This
is,
as
you
all
have
lived
and
learned.
Beaufort
county
is
really
fragmented
when
it
comes
to
what
populations
know
about
and
what
they
care
about
and
how
they
get
their
information.

don't
say
that
a
negative
way
is
just
the
way
the
county
is
set
up.
So
you
know
mr
glover
had
to
teach
me
that
shaking
hands
was
much
more
effective
north
of
the
river
than
putting
anything
on
social
media
or
doing
those
types
of
things
where
I
live
in
bluffton.
If
you
don't
put
it
on
next
door,
facebook.
Nobody
knows
what
the
heck
you're
talking
about
and
then
hilton
head
is
kind
of
a
mix
of
everything.

To
be
honest
with
you,
you
know
that
watch
hhi
tv,
definitely
cable,
cable
people,
but
then
they
also
dabble
most
likely
because
their
kids
and
grandkids
are
on
facebook,
so
they
they
catch.
That
type
of
thing
from
there,
so
that's
been.
The
biggest
challenge
is
messaging
the
different
parts
of
the
county,
but
I
really
think
we're
moving.

luckily,
since
I
fall
underneath
it,
patrick
has
a
a
very
nice
budget
because
he
needs
to
update
his
computers,
all
that
type
of
stuff
and
we
kind
of
work
hand
in
hand
with
broadcasting,

we've

able
to
this
year
squeeze
out
some
money,
but
next
year
I
plan
on
actually
submitting
a
budget
which
I'm
doing
right
now
we're
hoping
to
get
almost
about
40
000
for
marketing,
slash
informational
stuff.

addition
to
what
we
already
do.
This
was
for
those
gas
station
tv
buys
ad
buying.

then
we've
been
working
a
lot
with
the
and
I've
been
told
by
multiple
people
so,
like
I
think
that
you
were
talking
about
the
co-op
opening.
That
guy
was
some
really
good
media
coverage
and
the
people,
so
our
market,
everyone
here
likes
to
say
they
were
associated
with
charleston,
because
naturally
I
think
you
are
it's
in
the
same
state.
However,
the
media
market
is
savannah
and
that's
where
the
savannah
tv
stations
come
from.

Three
papers:
four
papers,
if
you
want
to
call
them
that
just
kidding
and
actually
do,
and
now
I've
done
a
much
better
job
of
covering
the
county
government
as
well,
and
then
I
can
get
the
charleston
tv
stations
to
come
down
for
something
big,
but
all
the
ones
that
savannah
talked
about.
What
do
you
got
going
on
and
saying
helena?

What
have
you
got
going
on
in
ladies
island
that
that's
what
they
specifically
want
to
know
about
when
they
come
up
here,
because
they
have
to
sell
it
to
their
editors
or
their
producers?
For
them
they
can
normally
sneak
in
across
the
border
right
in
the
bluffton
and
sneak
back
out
pretty
easily,
but
they
always
they're
and
their
producers
want
it.
They're
like
listen.
This
is
this
gets
some
of
the
highest
ratings,
there's
things
that
are
happening
on
good
things,
not
bad
things
happening
in
the
northern
part
of
beaufort
county
now,
charleston.

you
go
to
a
charleston
tv
station
and
go
down
the
website
about
beaver
county,
I
thought
I
moved
into
the
bronx
of
the
80s.
Okay
like
it's.
They
don't
cover
anything
other
than
somebody
getting
murdered
or
somebody's
house
getting
burnt
down,
but
when
it
comes
to
southern
stations,
they're
much
better
at
that
in
savannah-
and
they
really
do
especially
wtoc
and
wsab.

so
I'll
say
you
know
hats
off
to
chris
and
thank
you
for
being
here
and
continuing
to
think
about
how
we
can
all
work
together
to
market
the
rural
and
critical
program.

think,
in
the
short
time
we've
both
been
in
these
roles,
we've
been
able
to
collaborate
on
the
three
press
releases
for
the
three
projects
from
2021,
which
has
been
great
I'll.

think
these
are
great
opportunities
for
us
to
continue
thinking
about
how
we
get
our
message
out,
not
just
say
a
press
release
when
we
protect

property
which
is
typically
toward
the
end
of
every
year
right,
but
the
work
that
we
do
throughout
the
year.
And
so,
if
we
talk
later
in
this
meeting
about
tours
of
properties,
you
know,
let's
talk
about
ways
we
can
talk,
we
can
describe
what
we
see.

last
year

or
two
years
ago
why
I
serve

talk
about
ways,
we
can
continue
to
do
that,
highlighting
the
work
of
rural
and
critical
board
members
like
with
the
co-op.

think
these
are
all
really
good
things
that
we'll
continue
to
build
upon,
and
I
think
the
media
coverage
from
the
three
property
closings
has
been
good
and
I
think
we
have
also
opportunity
to
expand
where
those
where
that
information
is
placed,
but
also
once
the
property
is
protected.

the

pick
daffodil
article,
that
was
in
the
island
packet
two
weeks
ago,
I
posted
on
the
facebook
page
because
it's
a
protected
property
and
that's
really
cool
that
you
can
go
out
and
pick
daffodils
on
a
property.
That's
protected
forever
with
your
tax
dollars,
so
I'm
terrible
with
rural
and
critical
facebook
page,
but
I've
resolved
to
be
better,
and
that
was
one
of
the
articles
that
I
wanted
to
share
expressly
for
that
purpose,
because
I
think
it's
important
that
the
island
packet
and
other
media
outlets
know
and
they
report
on
something
cool.

we
have
two
two
things
that
can
add
to
that.
So
as
a
social
media
specialist,
what
I've
done
is-
and
we
used
this
in
the
army-
was
a
program
called
sprinkler,
which
most
people
have
no
clue
what
it
means,
but
essentially
what
it
is
is
it
allows
you
to
schedule
all
of
your
platforms
out
of
one
server
and
the
other
thing
it
does,
and
this
is
not
illegal.

you
have
access
to
private
you're,
not
doing
that,
but
that's
especially
what
it
is.
So
if
you
are
open,
then
that
we
can
start
hearing
all
those
different
things
and
then
we
can
see
where
what
people
are
saying
are
they
is
it

mentioned

last

one
once
has
mentioned
in
social
media
other
than
ourselves.

how
do
we
break
down,
or
there
are
some
people
that
have
been
really
active
about
supporting.

trying

up

thing

then
we

pierce
the
corporate
bail
and
get
in
there

actually
start
getting
this
stuff
moved

love

people
search
certain
property
names
if
they
would
just
pop
up
and
because
I
know
that's
one
of
the
biggest
fears
of
some
property
owners
that
do
you
know
easement
protections

my

phase

we've
already
received

inquiries,
so
just

are
people
that
are
just
kind
of
cold
calling

inquiries
or
you
know,
maybe
there's
a
landowner
or
the
neighboring
landowner,
etc.
We're
also
doing
proactive
outreach
and
we
meet
as
a
planning
staff,
both
myself
coming
from
the
open
land,
trust
and
the
county.

to
talk
about.

know
what
kind
of
proactive
conversations
we
need
to
have,
so
that's
just
a
little
snapshot
of
where
we
are
since
we
opened
this
application
period
and
as
a
reminder,
since
you
all
are
ambassadors
for
the
program.

can
be

the
wimpy

landing

ahead,
I
think
if
we
were
able
to
meet
on
site
and
experience
a
property
on
a
regular
basis.
This
is
also
a
good
example
of
information
we

media

marketing,

it
would
be

interview

y'all
take
pictures,
write
a
blog
post
put
something
on
our
website.
After
the
fact
do
that
type
of
thing,
so
citizens
of
beaufort
county
can
learn
how
impactful
this
program
has
been
and,

you
all
can
come
to
see,
properties.

One
is
via
conservation,
easement
and
one
is
by
purchasing
the
property
and
the
properties
that
are
purchased
by
beaufort
county
come
into
the
program
with
their
previous
zoning.
So
maybe
that
zoning
was
t3n
and
the
property
could
have
been
developed
as
a
neighborhood,
but
it
was
protected
as
a
park.
Stephanie
nadjad
and
the
passive
parks
program
has
proposed
a
list
of
passive
parts
to
be
re-zoned
from
their
incoming
zoning
category
to
t1n
natural
preserve,
which
fits
now
the
intention
for
that
property.

It
would
allow
stephanie
to
plan
for
passive
parks
and
to
provide
for
public
access
and
all
the
things
that
passive
park
requires,
but
it
won't
allow
for
p3n
type
zoning
houses,
subdivisions
that
type
of
thing,
and
so
you
all
asked
questions
about
it
as
a
board.
It
was
before
the
cleaning
commission
and
passed
unanimously
in
january,
and
it
was
before
natural
resources.

past
monday
february
6th,
so
it
will
go
before
county
council
it'll,
be
three
readings
and
a
public
hearing,
beginning
february
28th,
and
you
all
asked
to
consider
writing
a
letter
of
support
for
this
premise
in
the
meeting
materials
amanda
attached.
The
letter
of
support
the
open
land
trust
wrote.
So
obviously
you
all
are
a
different
body
than
the
open
land
trust
and
are
entitled
to
write
a
support
letter
any
one
way
or
the
other.

Opportunity
and
we
think
it's
really
great.
It
just
affords
another
layer
of
protection
to
county-owned
properties
and
if
you
all
would
like
to
issue
a
statement
of
support
or
not
support,
I
guess
you
could
choose
as
well.

letter
expressing
your
opinion
on
the
matter
and
present
it
to
county
council.

item

some
direction
on

and

at
the

situations

the
applicant

the
town

hilton

buying
the
cherry
hill
school
and
the
st
james
church
that's
across

road

reimbursed

faa

that
relocation
project
there.

cherry
hill
school
is
actually
in
the
flight
path
of
the
jets
going
into
the
hilton
head
island
airport.

parcels
just
down
the
road
here,
long
beach,
city,
road

town

hilton

that's
adjacent
to
the
metroville
historic
site,
and
so
what
will
happen
is
it
will
preserve
these
properties
from
future
development
that
might

a
negative
impact
on
the
flight
space
and
the
airspace
of
the
hilton
head
allen
airport?
There
is
a
possibility
if
this
property
is
purchased
with
ruined
critical
lands,
money
that
in
a
few
years
it
could
be
reimbursed.

has

Cherry
hill
school
will
eventually
be
relocated
and
moved
