From YouTube: Annual MA 9/11 Commemoration 9-11-20
Description
A Virtual Commemoration for those we lost on September 11, 2001.
A
We
welcome
you
to
the
19th
annual
commemorative
ceremonies
on
the
anniversary
of
september
11
2001.,
my
husband,
kenneth
zellman,
was
on
the
99th
floor
of
the
north
tower
on
september.
11Th,
our
children
were
only
three
in
one
at
the
time.
One
of
the
hardest
things
that
I
have
ever
done
was
to
try
to
explain
to
my
daughter
why
her
daddy
wasn't
coming
home.
A
A
He
will
forever
be
in
our
hearts,
though
we
are
unable
to
safely
gather
together
in
person
this
year
at
the
state
house
and
the
boston
public
garden
due
to
the
covid
19
pandemic.
We
hope
that
this
virtual
commemoration
service
inspires
you
and
your
family
to
do
a
simple
act
of
human
kindness.
Today,
as
we
remember,
our
family
will
be
providing
extra
help
to
several
senior
citizens
in
our
area
by
delivering
groceries
and
helping
with
yard
work.
I
hope
that
it
will
bring
a
smile
to
their
face
in
the
way
ken
had
done
for
so
many.
A
A
A
We
will
surely
miss
seeing
everyone
in
person
today,
but
know
that
we
are
all
still
together
in
spirit.
The
strength
of
our
massachusetts.
9
11
family
is
unmistakable
and
we
will
do
everything
we
can
to
be
together
in
person
next
year
and
now.
Please
join
our
service
with
governor
baker.
At
the
massachusetts
state.

H
Is
we
made
a
commitment
here
in
massachusetts
that
we
would
never
forget
you
and
we
would
never
forget
your
loved
ones
and
I
hope,
by
continuing
to
gather
even
if
it's
virtually
as
we're
doing
this
year,
we
are
sending
a
message
loud
and
clear
that
almost
20
years
later,
we
have
not
forgotten
and
we
will
never
forget
the
loss
and
the
sacrifice
of
so
many
on
that
terrible,
tragic
awful
day.
I
do
also
want
to
say
how
much
we
appreciate
the
sweeneys
and
all
they
do
to
make
this
award
day
possible.
H
It's
another
part
of
the
day
that
I
think
in
many
respects
brings
some
joy
and
some
comfort
to
many
of
us
amidst
all
the
tragedy
that
9
11
was
all
about
to
the
sweeneys.
I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
the
award
winners.
I
want
to
say
congratulations
and
to
everybody
who's
part
of
making
this
day
such
an
important
part
of
our
remembrance.
Here
in
massachusetts.
I
want
to
say
thank
you,
and
god
bless.

We
remember
them
when
we
have
joy,
we
crave
to
share,
we
remember
them
when
we
have
decisions
that
are
difficult
to
make.
We
remember
them
when
we
have
achievements
that
are
based
on
theirs.
We
remember
them
as
long
as
we
live,
they
too
will
live,
for
they
now
are
a
part
of
us,
as
we
remember
them,.

U
Good
morning,
I'd
first
like
to
recognize
governor
baker,
lieutenant
governor
polito
senate
president
spilker
attorney
general
healey,
emil
walsh,
and
my
colleagues
in
the
house
and
the
senate
as
speaker
each
year.
Typically,
it
is
my
role
to
welcome
guests
and
dignitaries
to
our
historic
house
chamber
for
ceremonial
events
of
many
kinds
like
so
much
in
this
very
unusual
year.
U
U
U
A
W
W
14
am
that
bright,
beautiful
tuesday
morning
bound
for
los
angeles,
california,
but
the
five
terrorists
on
board
had
different
plans
and
at
902
and
59
seconds
united
175
was
crashed
by
the
hijackers
into
the
south
side
of
the
south
tower
of
the
new
york
world
trade
center,
murdering
the
nine
united
175
crew
members
and
the
56
passengers,
which
included
three
children.
Under
the
age
of
five
on
9
11
2001,
I
was
working
as
a
middle
school
nurse
in
a
metrowest
suburb
at
9
00
a.m.
W
I
was
informed
by
the
assistant
principal
that
a
plane
later
identified
as
american
flight
11.
The
plane
amy
called
to
alert
the
ground.
What
was
happening
had
hit
the
world
trade
center
and
there
would
be
an
immediate
crisis
team
meeting
in
the
principal's
conference
room
by
the
time
I
locked
my
office
and
got
to
the
conference
room.
The
second
plane
had
hit
the
south
tower
united
175.
W
My
brother's
plane,
I
knew
my
brother-
was
traveling
to
california
that
week,
but
didn't
remember
the
specific
day.
Innocence
was
bliss
for
a
few
hours.
We
made
plans
to
have
three
15-minute
assemblies
to
tell
the
grades
of
the
national
tragedy,
starting
at
10
a.m.
With
grade
8.,
we
also,
as
a
team,
helped
draft
the
statement.
The
principal
would
share
with
the
students,
but
before
that
was
finished,
the
principal
secretary
knocked
on
the
door
and
informed
us
a
third
plane
had
hit
the
pentagon,
but
about
12
30.
W
W
I
decided
it
would
be
better
for
me
to
talk
to
the
eighth
graders
in
my
middle
school
as
the
voice
of
living
history
about
the
events
of
9
11..
I
did
this
till
I
retired.
In
2017.,
when
the
mass
911
fund
started
an
education
committee
I
joined
and
I'm
still
a
member.
Today
there
was
talk
of
making
911
a
national
holiday.
W
The
families
pushed
for
9
11
to
become
a
national
day
of
service.
With
the
help
of
the
late
massachusetts
u.s
senator
edward
kennedy,
11
became
a
national
day
of
service
and
remembrance
in
2009
by
an
act
of
congress,
a
simple
act
of
kindness
like
holding
open
a
door
smiling
or
visiting
an
elderly
neighbor.
W
I
I
I
X
Thank
you
so
much
for
your
kind
words.
It
means
so
much
to
our
family
and
chris.
Your
actions
on
that
day
mirror
so
much
of
what
my
mother
and
her
courageous
act
and
what
was
done
on
the
11th
and
with
everything
going
on
right
now.
I
think
it's
really
important
to
highlight
all
the
good
that's
been
done
in
the
community
and
act
such
as
yourself
really
shed
to
light
how
good
the
people
can
be
and,
on
behalf
of
my
family,
we're
so
honored
to
present
you
with
the
2020
madeleine
amy
sweden
award
for
civilian
bravery.
Y
I'm
truly
honored
to
receive
such
an
award
in
the
name
of
somebody
who
showed
selfless
action
ourselves.
Thank
you
very
much.
I
really
don't
know
what
else
to
say.
I
I
I
guess
that's
a
testament
to
you
for
not
wanting
to
be
one
of
many
words
and
you
don't
need
to
because
your
actions
speak
louder
than
any
words.
I
Thank
you
thank
you,
chris,
and
to
you
and
your
family.
I
know
that
you
have
family
front
and
center
in
your
life,
beautiful
wife
and
three
children.
I
So
it's
not
a
surprise
to
us
that
when
you
saw
something
happen
on
that
night
that
you
wanted
to
respond
as
best
you
could.
A
G
Oh
one
of
my
favorite
memories
of
anna
comes
from
a
time
just
before
september
11,
when
we
were
vacationing
together
on
an
island
in
penobscot
bay
off
the
coast
of
maine.
I
have
a
picture
from
that
time
that
I
look
at
and
can
never
help
but
feel
better.
Her
joy
is
infectious
and
I'm
give
thanks
for
the
time
we
spent.

I
told

bill.
I
need
a
sign
from
you
honey,
knowing
that
you
are
okay
soon
after
I
started
to
find
a
penny
here
and
there
in
the
most
unusual
places,
while
families
place
flowers
or
pictures
on
the
september
11th
memorial
in
boston,
I
always
put
a
penny
on
bill's
name,
because
I
am
certain.
It
is
a
penny
from
heaven.

My
husband
joseph,
was
very
engaging
and
charismatic
he
had
the
gift
of
the
gab
all
these
years
later.
I
see
him
in
his
kids,
who
has
pride
and
his
joy.
His
daughter
is
kind
and
caring
like
he
was,
while
his
son
can
charm
a
room
with
his
extemporaneous
and
humorous
speeches.
We
will
never
forget
him.
His
disarming
smile
and
good.

There
is
a
street
named
after
my
brother,
richard.
It
is
called
richard
b,
ross
way
in
boston,
just
off
of
boylston
street
and
one
block
from
fenway
park.
Richard
was
the
co-founder
of
the
brain
tumor
society,
which
is
nationally
coast
to
coast
and
has
helped
thousands
of
people
inflicted
with
brain
tumors
and
their
families.
He
has
missed
every
day
and
his
presence
is
with
us
every
day.

We
had
a
project
that
we
were
working
on
together
and
it
was
refurbishing
dollhouse
that
I
had
built
for
her
in
about
20
years
beforehand.
When
she
was
a
little
kid,
it
was
just
a
beautiful.
F
I
guess
you
could
call
it
new
england
house
when
it
was
all
done,
and
it
was
one
of
the
great
satisfactions
and
one
of
the
best
feelings
that
I
think
I
ever
had
doing
it
together
working
on
the
house
together,
and
I
think
that
life
just
really
doesn't
get
much
better
than
experiencing
times
like.

I
graduated
a
couple
weeks
ago
and
out
of
nowhere,
there
was
nothing
anywhere
in
the
sky
except
right
about,
as
they
began
calling
names,
a
yellow
and
black
butterfly,
and
then
my
mom
told
me
that
it
came
to
her
after
it
went
by
me
whenever
we
see
the
black
and
yellow
butterflies.
We
know
that
they're
from
here.

This
is
a
strong
reminder
of
who
we
are
and
where
we
came
from
and
that
we'll
never
be
separated.
Absolutely
nothing
can
defeat,
love
and
absolutely
nothing
can
defeat
the
power
of
this
country
and
the
people
in
this
country,
as
we
remember
those
victims
of
9

our
heroes.

I'd
