Mayor Walsh dedicates the offspring of the Survivor Tree of the September 11th attacks to the victims of September 11th and the Boston Marathon bombing.

I had the honor of going down to new york uh on september 11th uh to receive uh our sapling, uh which has grown from the famous survivor tree uh of the 911 site.

Her parent was burned and buried under two towers. She was left for dead, but she came back and we said we cannot let her memory die and we thanks to the bartlett folks. We seeded her grabbed fruit from her and we got offspring from her when recovery.

Workers found the parent of this tree at ground zero. It gave hope to a weary city. It was a symbol of the fighting spirit that would carry new york through those dark times.

That was the same kind of resilience we drew on here in boston after the marathon last year as it blossoms. It will remind us of the relationships between the two cities and as visitors from all over the world. Come to this beautiful place in the heart of our city.

They will honor the memories of those affected by 911 and the 2013 boston marathon.
