Description
At the Garden of Remembrance in Boston Public Garden, Mayor Wu joined with family members of those who passed on September 11th for the annual wreath-laying ceremony.
A
Good
afternoon
my
name
is
Karen
Gian
Santi
and
I'm,
a
member
of
the
Massachusetts
911
funds
family
advisory
committee.
My
husband,
Ken
zelman,
was
on
the
99th
floor
of
the
World
Trade
Center's
North
Tower
on
September
11th,
our
children,
Olivia
and
Ethan
are
here
with
me
today
is
my
privilege
to
have
the
honorable
Michelle
Wu
mayor
of
Boston,
preside
over
the
wreath-laying
ceremony.
A
This
beautiful
sight
of
quiet,
contemplation
memorialized
this
206
victims
of
9
11
with
ties
to
Massachusetts
the
Survivor
tree.
A
calorie
pair
tree
was
gifted
to
the
Boston
Garden
of
Remembrance
in
May
of
2014.
severely
damaged.
The
original
tree
was
removed
from
Ground
Zero
rehabilitated
and
returned
to
the
New
York
City
Memorial
in
2010.,
representing
resilience,
survival
and
rebirth.

B
We
pray
that
you
would
use
us
to
bring
your
peace
to
not
only
our
brothers
and
sisters
in
this
city,
but
around
the
world.
We
pray
that
we
learn
to
see
each
other.
As
you
see
us,
your
children
made
in
your
own
image
and
likeness.
We
pray
for
an
end
for
all
that
divides
us.
Hatred,
bigotry,
jealousy,
evil
ideology.

A
C
This
is
a
day
that,
across
the
country
reverberates
with
such
emotion
and
gravity
and
I'm
thankful
that
here
in
Boston,
we
hope
to
focus
most
of
all
on
the
families
who
experience
this
every
single
day
of
the
year
and
that
by
coming
together,
following
your
lead
and
standing
with
you,
bearing
witness
to
the
experiences
that
you
continue
to
have
the
grief
and
joy
and
memories
that
you
continue
to
share
that.
C
I
know
it's
a
long
day
for
everyone
as
well.
We
started
bright
and
early
on
the
steps
of
the
State
House
reading
and
remembering
each
and
every
one
of
the
names
of
those
who
we
lost
and
still
feel
deeply,
and
so,
if,
in
the
morning
that
ceremony
is
about
really
reflecting
on
the
full
force
and
strength
of
our
government
and
everyone
in
needing
to
ensure
we
never
forget
and
that
we
will
continue
to
do
whatever
possible
to
Serve
and
Protect
and
follow
in
this
Legacy.
C
The
afternoon
I
hope
is
meant
to
be
a
little
bit
more
personal
in
a
space
that
is
intended
to
be
a
sanctuary
among
the
silent
Witnesses
of
of
trees,
including
those
that
carry
such
special
meaning
from
Ground
Zero
and
to
be
able
to
just
sit
and
contemplate
and
reflect
and
be
here
together,
so
I'm,
very
thankful
that
you
share
this
extra
time
with
us
on
on
a
very
long
day.
Thank
you
to
our
Gaelic
column
for
making
this
such
a
special
and
important
commemoration
as
well
and
I'm.
C
Grateful
to
my
colleagues
in
elected
office
and
in
public
service,
who
are
here
and
many
of
those
who
couldn't
be
here
in
this
moment,
but
passed
along
their
their
wishes
and
and
condolences
as
well.
