honor
the

a
truly
noble

We
ask
blessing
upon
it.
That

Its
Journey

a

this

every

every

everyone
who
is
serving
the

Boston,
the
many
many
Community
leaders
and
friends
who
are
gathered
here
and
thank
you
for
all
that
you
do
for
our
Boston
communities.
Welcome
to
the
minister,
Consul
General,
so
many
leaders
and
in
some
ways,
someone
who
is
the
the
backbone
and
the
Heart
of
services
to
the
Cape
Verdean
Community
Paolo,
we're
so
thankful
for
all
that.

councilor
and
I
have
the
honor
to
represent
so
many
Cape
verdeans
within
my
district,
and
you
guys
bring
enough
vibrancy,
whether
it's
the
food,
the
culture
and
the
activism
and
I
also
want
to
just
give
a
big
shout
out
to
my
good
friend
and
partner
in
crime
when
it
comes
to
doing
the
good
work
on

history,
Paula

Barros,
who
is
constantly
showing
up
for
our
community
and
it's
no
longer
an
independence
day.
E
But
it's
a
weekend
right
right
now
right.
So
it's
two
or
three
days
that
we're
celebrating
Cape,
Verdean
Independence
and
one
of
my
favorite
quotes
that
inspires
me
and
leads
me
and
keeps
me
moving
here
on.
The
council
is
a
quote
from
cabal
and
Cabral,
and
it
goes
always
bear
in
mind
that
the
people
are
not
fighting
for
ideas
for
the
things
that
anyone's
heads.
E
They
are
fighting
to
win
material
benefits,
to
live
better
and
in
peace,
to
see
their
lives
go
forward
and
to
guarantee
the
future
of
the
children,
and
this
grounds
me
and
keeps
me
rooted
in
the
work,
and
this
is
how
I
want
to
show
up
and
continue
to
show
up
for
our
community.
Thank
you
and
happy
Independence
Day.

Today
We
Gather,
here
in
this
vibrant
city
of
Boston,
to
commemorate
an
extra
ordinary
moment
in
history.
The
independence
of
Cape
Verde
as
I
stand
before
you
not
as
a
cape
Verdian,
but
a
representative
who
represents
a
lot
of
cape
verdians
in
Massachusetts
and
the
Massachusetts
state
house,
I'm
deeply
honored
to
pay
tribute
to
the
Cape
Verdean
community,
whose
spirit
and
Rich
culture
Heritage
is
here
in
Boston.
G
G
Apollo
always
got
jokes
now
now,
I'm,
not
even
gonna,
say
that
joke
okay
on
the
on
the
cape
verdian's
path
to
Independence
was
not
an
easy
one.
The
cape
Verdian
people
confronted
numerous
obstacles
and
it
made
immense
sacrifice
and
their
quest
to
self-determination.
They
face
political
oppression,
economic
hardships
and
social
Investments.
Yet,
though,
the
leadership
of
Cabral
they've
United
and
the
determination
to
bring
about
change
and
break
free
of
the
shackles
of
communism,
Cabral
philosophies
of
empowerment,
masses
of
embracing
the
truth,
even
facing
of
adversity,
has
continued
to
inspire
the
generation.
G
His
vision
of
unbravoring,
commitment
of
justice
and
equality
has
lessened
an
ethical
Mark
in
the
cape
Verdian
identity,
As
We
Gather.
Here
today
we
raise
this
flag
of
Cape
Verdean
Cape
Verde
in
the
Heart
of
the
City
of
Boston.
Again
today
we
recognize
the
achievements
and
contributions
of
the
Cape
Verdean
Community.
We
acknowledge
their
history,
their
struggles
and
their
triumphs,
and
we
pledge
to
stand
with
I
pledge
to
stand
with
them,
fostering
and
understanding
and
embracing
the
diversity
and
promoting
equity
and,
in
this
great
state,
again
happy
happy,
happy,
Independence,
Day,

birth.
