Description
This week in Boston Neighborhood Sports, we bring you highlights of the 2016 Boys Division 2 State Basketball Championship, as the New Mission Titans faced the Concord-Carlisle Patriots. We also bring you some details about the upcoming City League All-Star Game.
A
2016,
high
school
basketball
season
all
came
down
to
Saturday
with
four
boys
and
four
girls
state
championship
games
happening
out
in
Springfield.
The
one
team
from
the
Boston
Public
Schools,
who
was
able
to
get
to
the
state
finals,
was
of
course,
the
new
mission
Titans.
They
took
on
the
concord-carlisle
patriots
and
the
boys
division
2
state
championship.
This
game
was
a
rematch
of
the
2014
state
finals
when
the
Titans
defeated
the
Patriots
by
20,
and
you
can
believe
new
mission
was
hoping
for
that
same
result.
A
This
time
around,
let's
head
out
to
Springfield
College
for
this
one,
and
there
you
see
the
new
mission
Titans
looking
to
win
their
fourth
state
championship
in
seven
seasons.
I'm
gonna
pick
it
up
in
the
first
quarter,
titans
started
out
rolling
there
you
see
Jerry
and
Jordan
Thomas
scored
on
the
break
right
there
from
the
feed
from
Tyreke
Lee.
Then
it's
Lee
driving
inside
the
paint
he
scores
the
bucket
for
new
mission.
They
started
the
game
off
with
an
80
run
in
the
first
quarter,
but
concord-carlisle
would
respond.
A
That's
Eric's
ello,
knocking
down
the
three
right
there
for
the
Patriots
charging
right
back
in
the
first
quarter
later
on
great
block
there
by
Austin
hoey.
He
kick
starts
the
fast
break
as
Spencer
patented
scores
on
the
fast
break
right
there
off
the
block,
as
concord-carlisle
was
up
by
three
points
after
the
first
quarter,
then
it's
sello
in
the
second
quarter
score
in
the
basket
in
the
foul.
A
He
would
not
hit
the
free-throw,
but
Karl
I
would
get
up
by
as
many
as
five
but
new
mission
would
respond
off
the
Miss
from
Cooper,
dairy
and
Jordan
Thomas
all
over
the
offensive
glass.
He
had
eight
points
in
the
first
half
for
the
Titans
then
later
on.
In
the
quarter
they
feed
it
inside
to
Isaiah
low-rent.
He
gets
the
basket
and
one
three-point
play
a
three-point
lead
there
for
concord-carlisle
just
before
half-time
and
then
later
on,
it's
Tyreke
Lee
again
on
the
drive.
Somehow
he
gets
that
one
to
go.
A
We
were
tied
at
the
half
at
29
apiece,
we're
gonna
skip
forward
to
the
third
quarter.
Now
it's
lead
laying
it
down
again
to
Jordan
Thomas
Darren
had
14
points
for
the
new
mission
Titans
there,
the
sophomore
for
new
mission
later
on
the
third,
it's
Alonso
Cooper
on
the
drive
squeezes
that
one
home
for
run
for
new
mission
in
the
third
quarter.
It
took
a
three
point
lead
after
three
fourth
quarter
now
concord-carlisle
climbs
back
into
it.
A
Patnode
again
on
the
fast
break,
scorn
for
the
Patriots
brings
them
within
three
and
then
it's
jevon
grant
scoring
inside
the
paint
for
concord-carlisle
one-point
lead
now
for
new
mission.
Let
the
Titans
held
on
strong
may
see
Isaiah
rent
again
scoring
the
hoop
and
one
he
puts
it,
tightens
up
by
four.
Then
concord-carlisle
not
going
away
easily
as
grant
it's
to
the
corner.
Aiden
sire
with
the
mid-range
jumper
right.
A
There
brings
concord-carlisle
within
two,
but
as
he's
done,
all
season,
Tyreke
Lee
with
a
strong
basket
right
there
for
new
mission,
puts
them
up
by
four
and
then
on
the
other
end,
Isaiah,
a
rent
control
in
the
paint
with
that
rejection
and
the
new
mission
Titans.
Thanks
to
that
defensive
effort,
we're
able
to
hang
on
and
win
the
division.
2
state
championship,
they
defeat
the
concord-carlisle
patriots
52
to
48
fantastic
job
by
the
new
mission
Titans.

A
What
a
season
ad
has
been
for
the
new
mission-
boys,
basketball
team-
they
won
the
city
championship
and
then
the
state
championship
it
sort
of
mirrors
what
the
team
did
just
two
years
ago
back
in
2014.
So
congratulations
to
the
new
mission
Titans.
While
saturday
marked
the
end
of
the
2016
