Description
It's city championship time in the spring high school sports season for the Boston Public Schools! Hundreds of BPS student athletes converged to White Stadium for the 2018 City Track Championships and we bring you highlights of all the action from hub of BPS high school athletics.
A
As
Memorial
Day
approaches
we're
creeping
towards
the
end
of
the
spring
sports
season,
one
of
the
biggest
spring
sporting
events
for
the
Boston
Public
Schools
is
the
Outdoor
Track
Championships,
where
hundreds
of
athletes
gather
at
white
Stadium
to
compete
for
a
chance
to
call
themselves
Boston's
best.
This
year's
outdoor
track
championships
were
held
last
week.
We've
got
highlights
for
you,
so
let's
get
straight
to
it.
Let's
head
out
to
white
stadium
and
we're
gonna
get
straight
to
the
action.
A
That's
the
girls
200-meter
dash
and
West
Roxbury
Jeff
I,
a
Gil
yard,
wins
it
for
the
Raider.
She
finished.
25.8.
Second,
stand
the
girls
200
meters
when
a
fast
four
down
to
the
girls,
400
meters
and
guess
what
Gilyard
wasn't
done
once
again:
Jaffe
ax
they're
in
the
inside
lane
and
she
gets
going
early
there
at
the
turn.
She
cruises
to
this
win
59
seconds
flat
for
gilyard
very
good
afternoon
for
her
and
the
West
Roxbury
Raiders.
Then
it
was
the
boys
turned
400
meters
and
it
was
a
three-man
race
down
the
stretch.
A
Then
you
see
the
start
of
the
400
meter
race
and
it
was
promised
a
bougie
obby,
winning
it
for
Snowden
as
he
finishes
it
off
right.
There
tight
race
just
towards
the
end
for
the
boys,
400
meter,
girls,
800
meter,
run
and
once
again,
Snowden
finishing
strong,
that's
Sarah,
Lawton
finishing
in
2
minutes
30
seconds
flat.
She
takes
home
the
win
for
the
snowden
cougars
boys
800
meters
now,
and
that
was
a
tight
race
as
well.
A
Until
we
got
towards
the
end,
it
was
gyre
Alice
at
Xcel,
High
School
sprinting,
towards
the
finish
line,
as
he
picks
up
that
win
for
the
Excel
night.
Girls
one-mile
run
Katherine
Keating
for
O'brien
she's
right
there
in
the
front
at
the
start,
and
she
led
from
start
to
finish
for
the
O'bryant
Lady
Tigers
and
she
wins
the
one
mile
in
544.
Then
it
was
the
boys
turn
one
mile.
A
Once
again,
it's
a
Alice
again
finishing
in
first
place,
502
for
him
for
excel
high
school,
and
it
was
the
girls
100
meters,
and
this
was
a
good
one
check
out,
Alesia
Alejandro
in
the
middle
and
Courtney
lamb
right
to
the
right.
They
both
with
a
photo
finish.
Let's
take
another
look
at
this
as
slow-mo
replay,
we're
gonna
freeze
it
here
at
the
end
and
all
the
way
to
the
right.
That's
Courtney
Lambright
up
O'brien.
A
She
wins
it
by
a
hair,
bun
and
defeats
Alicia
Alejandra
too
close
to
comfort
there
for
her
Courtney
lamb,
bright
boys,
100-meter
hurdles
now
and
the
only
East,
Boston
runner
non
East
Boston
runner
in
that
one
was
Christopher
Michelle
for
Charlestown.
He
wins
it
for
the
Townies
boys,
long
jump
able
floor,
wet,
Flint
Eze.
Excuse
me
for
East
Boston
carrying
the
torch
for
Joe
Alf
Estrada,
who
won
it
three
years
in
a
row.
He
wins
it
for
the
East
Boston
Jets
girls
shotput
tell
you
drum
from
Jeremiah
Burke.
A
A
Then
it
was
the
boys
4
by
400
relay
final
race
of
the
night
in
Charlestown
once
again
picking
up
the
win
so
both
of
Brian
and
Charlestown
Wing
Bowl
team
relay
races.
Let's
take
a
look
at
the
rest
of
the
results
from
the
city
championships:
girls,
100
meters,
Josiah
Gilyard
from
West
Roxbury,
also
winning
the
100-meter
race,

Theresa
high
yard
out
of
O'brien
and
also

Clarissa
Vasquez
at
a

Then
it
was
Courtney,

winning
the
triple
jump.
A
Girls,
discus
throw
was
taya
drum
out
of
Jeremiah
Burke
girls,
javelin
throw
was
Aminata
Sesay
at
Avvo

it
was
boys

now
and
os
said.
Monda
soar
at
a
tech.
Fosston
won
that
race
for
the
tech,
Boston
Bears

200
meters,
Marcus,
heard
out
of
East
Boston
the
winner
boys,
two-mile
Kemsley
cajuste
out
of
O'brien
boys,
400
meter
hurdles.
It
was
Christopher
Michelle
at
a
Charlestown
and
boys
high
jump
de
santé
Bowen
at
up
O'brien.
A
Something
else
was
starting
point
guard
for
the
basketball
team
boys
triple
jump,
Reggie
Osiris
at
a
Charlestown
boy,
shot,
foot
Francis,
so
Sophia's
out
of
Brighton
Heat,
also
when
the
boys
discus
throw
and
to
round
off
the
night
for
the
boys
who
his
boys
javelin,
Cortney
Chu
for
Jeremiah
Burke,
then
for
the
team
results
on
the
girls
side.
No
surprise
here
are
Bryant
Tigers
win
it
in
a
landslide
168
total
points
for
the
O'bryant
Lady
Tigers.
A
A
Several
impressive
performances
from
hundreds
of
athletes
throughout
the
city
on
that
afternoon,
a
lot
of
those
kids
will
be
competing
in
the
state
and
regional
outdoor
track

over
the
next
couple
of
weeks.
