From YouTube: Mayor On Main: Boston Main Streets Awards: Day Three
Description
Mayor Walsh is taking the 2017 Main Streets Awards on the road to the neighborhoods! Visiting locally owned small businesses in Allston/Brighton, Roslindale, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Mayor Walsh honors this year's awardees for their outstanding work and contributions to their neighborhoods.
A
I
sort
of
welcome
everyone
we're
on
trolley
tour
around
the
city
of
Boston,
we're
going
to
be
visiting
businesses
in
different
neighborhoods
in
total,
as
well
to
be
able
to
give
out
awards
that
business
the
year
and
volunteer
idea
for
Macy's
program
in
the
past.
We've
done
in
one
location
issue
were
taken
out
to
the
neighborhood.
B
Good
morning,
everybody
are
we
doing
I'll,
keep
it
short
and
sweet.
Send
a
lot
of
us
are
standing
in
the
Sun.
My
name
is
cliff
Sullivan
I'm,
the
executive
director
of
Brighton
Main
Street
and
we're
hosting
today,
I'm
hosting
with
my
dear
friend
and
mobile,
the
executive
director
of
Alton
Village,
Main
Street,
and
what
in
Warren
as
well
and
I,
wanted
to
give
it
that
up,
Emma
and
Warren,
who
have
really
onboarding
me
and
mentored
me
because
I've
only
been
in
this
role
a
couple
of
months.
B
So
thank
you
guys
and
I'd
also
like
to
say
hello
to
Kevin
Honan,
our
state,
rep
and
Marcio
MO
is
here
as
well
as
a
counselor.
Thank
you.
So
much
for
all
you
do
for
all
them
Brighton,
and
it's
really
special
for
me
to
be
here
today
in
front
of
Daniels
bakery,
because
Wanda
actually
made
my
wedding
cake
eight
years
ago,
so
very,
very
meaningful,
and
so
absolutely
just
just
thank
our
mayor
and
as
much.
B
He
cares
about
right
and
all,
and
he
really
also
cares
about
our
Main
Street
cares
about
our
small
business
and
he
really
puts
funding
behind
that.
We
could
not
do
what
we
do
without
mayor
Walsh
and
the
Boston
Main
streets
program,
all
of
our
most
part
funding
that
much
of
our
funding
comes
from
that
and
so
all
of
the
concerts
in
the
farmers
markets
and
the
taste
of
all
sent.
All
of
that
that
you
see
all
the
exciting
buzz
on
our
main
streets
is
all
due
to
that.
A
Thank
you.
Listen!
Let
me
just
stop
by
by
thanking
Liz
and
Emma,
and
everyone
at
Main
streets
having
I,
know
the
sun's
you
can
hit
by
the
Sun
deflation,
it's
beautiful
under
the
awning.
A
What's
going
on
in
these
stores,
these
bakeries
in
these
shops,
it
that
that
I
hear
in
all
over
the
city
of
Boston
are
the
lifeline
in
a
lot
of
neighborhoods.
When
you
think
about
the
neighborhood,
it's
the
community,
it's
the
people
who
live
there,
but
it's
also
the
shops
where
I
grew
up.
We
had
a.
We
had
a
grocery
store
down
the
street
that
had
two
aisles
and
that
we
did
all
the
shopping
that
we
have
CBN.
We,
let's
not
see
us,
be
the
pharmacy
back.
A
In
the
day
we
had
a
corner
store,
we
did
a
lot
of
shopping
in
the
local
neighborhoods
and
that
really
helped
build
the
character
of
a
community
and
what
we're
trying
to
do
a
Main
Street
does
help
continue
to
build
that
character
of
the
community
and
brighten
Main
streets
and
also
village
Main
streets.
Certainly
a
to
strong
Main
streets
in
the
city
of
us.
So
I
want
to
thank
all
of
the
folks
here
that
are
involved
in
both
those
Main
streets
of
the
boards
of
directors
and
all
the
folks
at
disappointment.
A
The
first,
the
first
one
I
get
to
do
is
is
Brighton
main
streets.
The
business
of
the
Year
award
goes
to
Daniels
bakery
and
that
you
can
just
anywhere
you
want
buy.
Why
a
fixie
have
over
40
years,
supports
Main
streets,
donates,
coffees
and
baked
goods
to
different
organizations
supports
the
community.
Fundraising
certainly
worked
on
the
city's
vision,
retail
vision
project,
and
you
know
these
are
the
businesses
that
are
the
sponsors
of
our
little
leagues.
These
are
the
businesses
that
support
our
hockey
and
soccer
league.
These
are
the
businesses
that
our
schools
come
to.
A
These
are
the
business.
We
have
these
big
box
stores
that
come
in
and
they
might
give
a
donation
once
in
a
while,
but
these
these
these
stores
and
on
the
backs
of
people
shirt.
So
I
want
to
congratulate
if
the
family,
for
your
family
for
being
here.
If
what
you've
done
on
behalf
myself,
a
Marciano
and
Kevin
hone
it
and
then
II
saw
sabe.
Congratulations
and
I
have
a
plaque
somewhere.
A
C
A
That
this
method,
that
is
an
active
member,
also
promotes
the
main
streets
inside
the
community,
just
basically
what
this
was
important
about
the
volunteer.
What
is
that
these
organizations,
as
Liz
said
earlier,
talked
about
financial
support?
There
is
financial
support
from
the
city,
but
it's
not
big
money.
These
main
streets
are
really
meant
to
kind
of
feed
off
each
other
and
go
out
and
bring
in
businesses
and
corporations
to
do
things.
A
A
A
I've
got
the
memo
it's
away.
The
shoe
is
the
memo,
but
open
in
the
spring
of
2016
has
been
the
success
ever
since
offers
upscale
pub
food,
a
cozy
atmosphere,
so
it's
become
a
popular
spot
in
the
neighborhood.
That
also
has
two
other
businesses
in
the
community
and
again
I
want
to
thank
that,
because
this
is
the
family.
Investment
and
supporting
him
is
important,
but
also
his
support
in
the
community
was
what
he
does
in
this
family
does
I
want
to
thank
you
for
everything
that
you've
done.
A
And
the
volunteer
of
the
year
what
goes
to
John
McCarten?
It
was
joining
point
of
it.
John,
remember
of
always
one
of
the
most
important
committees
to
design
committee,
deservin,
planning
and
art
experience
helped
increase,
austin's
villages,
Main,
Street,
public
art
initiative,
certainly
dedicated
to
the
division
and
also
when
you
think
about
what
I
want
to
say.
A
little
bit
here
is
that's
important
is
when
we
think
about
businesses.
We
don't
always
think
about
public
garden,
art
and
I.
Think
Austin
is
changing.
A
It
was
time
to
see
more
and
more
people
look
at
public
art
as
part
of
the
community
as
a
way
to
express
the
neighborhood.
It's
a
way
to
talk
about
City
of
Austin.
So
I
want
to
thank
you
for
that
as
well.
I
think
it's
important
for
us.
We
think
about
the
jujhar,
our
city.
We
cook
it
a
little
bit.
So
congratulations.
A
Over
there
open
my
give
a
once
it's
one
of
our
biggest
beasts,
but
it's
for
free
I
want
to
thank
you
to
people
with
us.
We
have
mission.
Philly
opens
with
us.
No
stranger,
this
neighborhood
music,
Apollonia
BS,
still
at
LSU
McCarthy's
with
a
few
policies
with
a
co
Smith,
is
down
there.
Chief
of
the
neighborhood
services
I
give
this
title
wrong
everything
the
time
we're
going
to
take
two
pictures.
We
have
want
to
be
your
boy.
B
B
D
Welcome
everyone
to
rod
and
Dale
village,
we're
so
happy
to
have
you
on
this
beautiful
Saturday.
We,
my
name
is
Rob
orphan
I'm,
the
vice
president
of
the
board
of
Roseville
village,
main
streets
and
co-chair
of
the
Economic
Development
Committee.
We're
really
excited
to
have
you
here
at
this
very
special
location.
Today,
Saturday
mornings
are
particularly
special
time
in
Roslindale
village,
with
the
farmers
market
and
everything
going
on
so
in
luckily,
the
weather
sells
out
before
I
turn
over
to
his
honor
mayor.
Walsh
just
want
to
say
a
few
words
of
thank
you.
D
I
wanted
to
recognize
the
Board
of
Roscoe
Village
Main
Street
sit
here
today.
Anthony
Giordano
and
our
president
and
the
rest
of
our
board
is
here.
Our
executive
director
alia,
Hamada
Forrest,
is
on
a
very
well
deserved
and
earned
vacation,
but
she
says
hello
and
sends
her
greetings
and
I
wanted
to
especially
welcome
our
friends
and
neighbors
from
West
Roxbury
for
most
rocks
remain
streets.
The
executive
director,
Danielle
Joseph
and
their
board.
D
D
With
that,
it
was
about
a
month
ago
that
we
were
with
Mayor
Walsh
at
the
opening
of
the
farmers
market
for
green
mobility.
Today,
that
was
a
wonderful
day,
and
this
is
another
beautiful
day.
We
are
so
happy
to
have
the
mayor
here
and
have
the
support
of
the
mayor
in
the
Office
of
Economic
Development
and
everyone
from
the
city.
That's
been
so
supportive
of
Roseville
village
without
further
ado,
we'll
turn
it
over
to
his
honor
mayor,
Marty,
Walsh
Thank.
A
A
We've
had
an
event
at
a
hall
or
we
had
event
the
Strand
Theatre
at
different
places,
and
we
thought
it
was
important
to
bring
it
out
to
the
community,
bring
the
event
out
to
the
community,
so
people
can
actually
see
the
fuzz
going
on
in
the
neighborhood
and
and
the
Main
Street
really
are
the
lifeblood
of
a
lot
of
our
different
neighborhoods
and
and
rising
rising.
The
Main
Street
Village
Main
Street
is
just
one
of
the
ones
that
you
hear
about
all
the
time.
A
A
So
I
want
to
thank
everyone
was
something
too,
with
the
Main
Street
I
want
to
thank
all
the
businesses
here
for
being
involved
and
I
want
to
encourage
people
to
makes
little
when
you
shop.
If
you
go
to
a
mall
or
you
go
someplace,
just
don't
forget
your
neighborhood
shopping,
your
neighbors,
that
you
can
shop
with
the
local
stores
shop
at
the
local,
supermarket
or
a
little
market,
because
these
are
the
folks
that
when
times
are
tough
they're
going
to
stay
here.
A
These
are
the
folks
that
support
the
Little
League
season,
support
folks
and
support
the
Soccer
League.
They
support
all
the
different
organizations
we
have.
So,
let's
support
them
Mac
so
again
for
rosin
Dale
I
wanted
to
I'm,
also
joined
by
sorry
city.
Councilor
Nisha
shall
be
George's
with
us
and
it
means
this
is
our
third
day
of
doing
this
and
with
hit
nine
ten
eleven.
A
This
is
our
eleven
soft
I
believe
purpose
for
Main
streets
and
needs
to
spend
every
single
one
and
that's
the
type
of
City
Council
she's,
just
all
over
the
city
of
Boston,
cares
about
every
corner
of
the
city
and
I
want
to
thank
her
for
being
part
of
this,
because
it
shows
a
commitment
not
just
on
behalf
of
the
mayor's
office,
but
we
thought
we
did
a
budget
the
other
day
and
then
the
budget
is
Main.
Street,
funding
and
East
is
a
big
part
of
making
sure
the
Main
streets
get
funding.
A
A
You,
don't
you
don't
see
a
local
grocery,
showing
a
lot
of
neighborhoods
and
I
was
talking
at
the
last
part
in
Brighton
in
my
neighborhood,
where
I
grew
up,
we
had
to
with
bond
market,
we
had
Gina
Paul's
that
had
one
or
two
aisles
and
in
those
aisles
that
everything
you
could
imagine
and
to
have
a
local
grocer
like
this.
That's
able
to
be
here
for
such
a
long
period
of
time
people
to
kind
of
compete
with
the
big
boys,
but
also
being
such
a
strong
supporter
community's
important
for
us
to
recognize.
A
A
A
What's
important
about
volunteers,
particularly
in
organizational
a
matrix,
is
that
there's
not
a
lot
of
money?
The
money
that's
in
Main
streets
comes
from
some
of
the
businesses,
some
money
from
the
city
of
Boston,
but
for
the
most
part
it's
a
volunteer
organization,
and
we,
you
see
some
create
incredible
creativity
and
other
odd
zeros
in
their
village.
You
see
some
great
creativity,
and
this
gentleman
next
to
me
is
part
of
that.
I
want
to
thank
you
for
your
involvement
and
making
sure
that
such
a
great
great
organization
and
a
strong
private
business
district.
Thank
you.
C
A
Just
for
the
record,
one
of
the
best
restaurants
in
Boston
selfie
knows
right
behind
me.
So
there's
a
lot
of
great
restaurants.
We
have
any
kind
of
little
special
place
in
my
heart
for
that
one
I
had
it
before.
As
the
mayor
actually
a
quick
story.
The
night
of
our
two
heads
before
the
mayor's
race
in
November
of
2013.
A
The
plan
was
for
me
to
go
out
to
dinner
somewhere
to
see
how
we're
going
to
do
so.
I
came
over
to
Rossville
and
I
went
to
tell
Pinos
I
was
in
there
that
night,
and
this
is
the
Sunday
before
the
Tuesday
election
and
I
walked
out
of
the
restaurant.
I
centralized
we're
going
to
win
Tuesday
I.
Take
you
just
feel
it
because
the
people
that
were
in
the
restaurant
from
West
Roxbury
in
Roslindale
on
high
parking,
the
response
was
great,
so
I
do
have
that
in
my
head.
Because
of
that.
So
thank
you.
A
He
wasn't
the
boy
at
one
point
from
my
office
who
were
budget
director,
so
thank
you,
Katie
and
all
those
all
the
board
members
I
want
to
thank
Danielle
is
one
for
the
great
work
that
she's
doing
there
and
really,
when
you
see
we
need
to
every
time
you
drive
down
Center
Street
you
seeing
the
new
restaurant
come
up,
I
seen
business
with
God,
you
seen
storefronts
being
done
over
there
shown
as
an
incredible
job
of
revitalizing,
quite
honestly,
penetrating
with
luxury.
So
thank
you
for
what
you're
doing
that
means.
It
looks
very
looks
great.
A
The
first
award
is
to
a
small
company
of
a
coffee
company,
but
just
open
a
lavish
shop
in
City
Hall
downstairs
a
Rico,
coffee
and
Miriam.
Is
here
come
on
up
here
and
Hector's
here,
sorry
Hector
and
we
have
a
stand
at
the
farmers
market
around
the
corner.
You
can
buy
the
coffee,
the
coffee
from
the
family
table
in
Nicaragua.
A
They
participate
in
all
local
local
events.
The
cafe
is
a
gathering
spot
in
West
Roxbury,
but
it
is
we
just
hoping
you
this.
They
just
open
the
shop
now
when
you
go
into
City
Hall,
plaza
City
Hall,
when
you
walk
in
the
front
door,
you'll
see
the
security
and
like
to
the
left
of
that
is
a
coffee
shop.
These
guys
are
there
we're
excited
about
it.
The
reviews
in
a
very
short
period
of
time,
have
been
spectacular.
People
talking
to
raven
about
your
coffee.
So
congratulations
and
you
guys
in
this
recognition
today.
A
A
forensic
report
and
the
volunteer
he
is
camera
variety.
The
race
became
illegal
party
party,
come
on
Pamela
lifelong
member
of
the
neighborhood,
killing
the
district
as
a
business
owner
2014,
always
giving
back
to
the
community.
Amazing
work
in
the
West
Roxbury
spring
and
fall
festivals,
says
on
the
economic
development
committee
focus
on
the
hints
in
the
business
district,
and
they
said
earlier.
You
know
the
strength
behind
any
great
organization.
A
C
E
Hi
everyone.
Thank
you
so
much
we're
just
so
happy
to
have
the
mayor
here
today
and
to
have
all
of
you
celebrating
our
local
businesses
shopping.
Local
is
so
important
to
our
communities.
We
have
some
great
places
here
in
Roslindale
and
in
West
Roxbury.
So
we
appreciate
you
shopping
local,
going
to
our
local
bakery,
such
as
Donna's
cake,
going
to
risk
a
say
going
to
Breck
Rio
and
also,
if
you
have
time
today,
we'd
love
you
to
check
out
the
farmer's
market
in
Rostov.
Thank
you.
A
When
you
see
the
Main
Street
kind
of
going
down,
you
hear
a
lot
of
complaints
of
our
neighborhood.
You
see
that
Main
streets
come
back
strong.
You
hear
a
lot
of
positives
about
the
naval,
so
it's
great
to
be
here
today.
It's
great
to
see
so
many
people
we
have
people
from
all
over
the
city
of
our
service
today,
but
I
want
to
thank
you
all
for
coming.
I
want
to
thank
city
companies
for
sabe
George
here.
A
Was
a
big
supporter
of
Main
Street
she's,
a
small
business
owner
in
Dorchester?
She
opened
up
a
shop
in
a
neighborhood,
they
didn't
have
a
lot
of
businesses
and
when
they
did,
it
really
brought
and
revitalized
kind
of
a
little
corner
of
Dorchester
Avenue
in
Columbia
Road
that
they
be
open
their
shop
in
and
it's
been
a
big
supporter
of
businesses,
not
just
since
then,
but
since
being
on
the
City.
Council
I
also
want
introduce
and
thank
him
for
coming
performance
that
he
comes
with
a
register.
A
TV
Murphy.
A
So
we
here
today
to
celebrate
businesses
and
the
first
one
is
the
business
of
the
year.
Would
what
we're
going
to
do
is
we're
going
to
invite
the
businesses
will
come
up,
take
a
photo
and
then
we're
going
to
ask
all
the
folks
from
from
the
High
Park
Main
Street
board
to
come
on
up
here
as
well
I,
also
here
in
Paris
from
the
firefighters
here,
they
Richie.
A
Is
rom-com
to
reveal
and
I
would
say,
equated
to
mother
Pedro?
This
restaurant
is
a
staple
in
a
high
bar
community.
It's
been
an
incredible
member
since
it
opened
in
2008
and
it's
hosted
dozens
of
neighborhood
functions
catering
and
you
know
these
are
the
businesses
that
are
the
lifeline.
We
see,
especially
a
family
business.
You
see
they're
coming
in
so
I
want
to.
Thank
you.
Let's
get
a
photo
here.
A
She's,
the
treasurer
of
the
hypotenuse
board
serves
on
the
board,
but
also
the
YMCA
gala,
and
is
also
on
countless
other
volunteer
organizations.
But
I
want
to
thank
her
because,
as
I
said
earlier
today,
the
businesses
in
the
association's
are
only
astrology
volunteers
and
you,
volunteers,
don't
get
paid
and
they
are
the
lifeline
of
a
different
organization.
So
congratulations
and
thank
you.
C
F
Thank
you
so
much
for
coming
out
to
Matapan
what
is
what
a
great-looking
crowd
a
great
community
coming
out
to
celebrate
our
21st
and
you
are
busting
Main
streets
award
ceremony.
Let
me
give
yourselves
a
round
of
applause.
This
is
great.
You
guys
are
coming
out
to
celebrate
with
us.
Today
is
May
on
May
I
think
River
last
stop.
This
is
fantastic.
They
saved
the
best
for
last
absolutely
Mattapan.
F
And
so
I
just
want
to
welcome
you
here
today.
Thank
you
for
coming
out
to
celebrate
and
with
no
further
ado.
We
want
to
get
this
started.
We've
got
some
great
folks
to
celebrate
today
our
volunteers
a
year
and
our
business
of
the
year,
who
are
Boston,
Main
Street
here
in
Mattapan.
So
no
further
ado,
our
mayor's
display
City
Monday
wall
Thank.
A
You
Tina.
Thank
you
very
much.
I
wanted
want
to
thank
Tina
I
want
to
thank
Mattapan
Main
streets,
but
for
the
great
work
they
do.
There's
a
lot
of
great
life
happening
in
Mattapan,
a
lot
of
great
rejuvenation
with
the
elected
officials
helping
and
the
community
helping
and
the
police
department
helping
and
all
of
us
helping
me
some
great
things
man
so
I
wanted
to.
A
Thank
you
all
with
what
we're
doing
with
this
event
is
we'll
bring
this
event
to
the
neighborhood
in
the
past
has
been
in
the
hall,
but
we
want
to
bring
it
out
to
the
community.
I
just
want
I
want
to
give
a
couple.
Thank
you
to
few
people.
I
want
to.
Thank
me.
Counselor
nature,
sabe
Georgia's
with
us.
A
Captain
who's
hanging
out
friends
for
the
police
raid
and
everyone
for
coming
out
now
this
year,
the
business
of
the
Arrowwood.
Is
this
rich
soup
microbiome
in
America's
food
basket?
Let
me
just
tell
you
one
story:
I
snuck,
in
a
que
it
was
a
board
member
and
he
told
me
that
in
1978,
when
the
blizzard
of
78
was
hitting
this
vapor
and
then
hitting
all
of
Boston
Massachusetts,
where
we
got
pounded
into
the
ground,
many
businesses
were
closed
for
weeks
while
over
for
days
a
lot
of
soup
most
supermarkets
were
closed.
A
This
supermarket
stayed
open
for
the
community.
So
from
that
point
till
now
it's
been
great
to
see
the
snare
line.
Neighborhood
so
I
want
to
congratulate
America's
fruit
basket
for
the
great
work
you
do.
Aw
honey
I
can
come
up
here
me
they've
been
supporting
and
the
restaurant.
Actually
it
wasn't
so
my
cover
for
that
thing
on
that,
but
no
we're
going
to
take
the
building
itself
all
right,
but
this
business
building
went
open
in
2013
and
a
strong
supporter
of
the
Main
Street
dedicated
to
supporting
community
organizations.
A
A
Going
to
ask
I'm
going
to
ask
all
the
boy
to
come
up
for
a
photo
after
we
do
that
reward
and
the
next
one
is
probably
the
most
important
one
you
can
get
to
an
organization
and
that's
Hans
here
the
Year
award
and
you
see
a
Castro
which
she
here
Chris
end
yeah,
where
you
get
exam
I
took.
They
took
a
picture
with
Eugenia
and
their
sister
a
minute
ago.
A
So
mobile
looks
like
a
sister,
so
I
want
to
just
out
I
want
to
thank
just
a
couple
of
quick
things
always
brings
energy
and
excitement
everything
she
does
donates,
wrap
on
rocks
items.
Then
a
jewelry
business
during
the
event
helped
ms
raise
hundreds
of
dollars,
but
I'll
tell
you
what's
important
to
an
organization.
Is
the
volunteer
basic
and
you
don't
have
a
strong
organization
and
you
simply
don't
have
a
strong
Main
Street
if
you
don't
have
a
strong
board
and
a
strong
base
of
that
board.
So
we.
C
C
A
C
C
F
Community.
This
concludes
the
program
here
in
Madison
Square
for
our
main
sheets
of
what
ceremony,
but
it
does
not
conclude
the
fact
that
you
should
go
in
and
shop
right
now
in
America
fool,
bastard
go
grab,
some
fruit
go
grab
something
for
drink
shop,
small
shop,
local,
go
in
and
celebrate
your
are
being
worried
today.
So
make
sure
you
go
in
and
grab
something:
oh,
the
small
business
center.
Yes,
Madison
lots
of
small
business
center.
F
We
had
our
second
event
this
past
Tuesday
make
sure
you
stay
abreast
of
information
that
we
send
out
around
every
Tuesday.
Sometimes
the
Thursday
next
Thursday
at
the
Matapan
library
come
out,
learn
everything
about
entrepreneurs
Islam
and
without
starting
your
own
business.
And
if
you
have
your
own
business
already
so
make
sure
you
come
out
to
the
library,
5:30
6
o'clock,
alright,
so
make
sure
we'll
go
inside
and
there's
a
school
bus
is
waiting
for
you
fresh
fruits
and
go
pie
shop
shop
shop.
Small!
Thank
you.
