From YouTube: Mayor on Main : Boston Main Streets Awards 2018 : Day 4
Description
Mayor Walsh is taking the 2018 Main Streets Awards on the road to the neighborhoods! Visiting locally owned small businesses in East Boston, Allston/Brighton, and Mission Hill, Mayor Walsh honors this year's awardees for their outstanding work and contributions to their neighborhoods.
A
A
A
One
one
quick
announcement
that
I
would
hope
you
could
share
with
your
friends
and
family.
The
East
Boston
cooling
center
is
the
Pierce
Street
youth
center
and
I
was
just
told
that
people
can
bring
their
pets.
So
I'll
say
one
more
time.
The
cooling
Center
for
East
Boston
is
Paris.
The
Paris
Street
Youth
Center
and
people
are
able
to
bring
their
pets.
So
if
you
could
share
that
with
everybody
had
appreciated.
A
B
A
To
diverge
from
the
program
for
just
a
second
and
say
something
about
Main
streets
and
East,
Boston
Main
streets
as
Steve
Gilman,
the
director
of
pasta,
main
streets,
knows
we
have
had
an
incredible
year
in
pasta,
main
streets
and
East
Boston
long.
We've
had
over
12
restore
projects,
he's
a
project
to
re
renovate
storefronts
and
do
new
science.
A
We've
had
over
3,000
volunteer
hours,
we've
had
over
37
special
events
and
were
just
about
to
kick
off
Easter
week,
the
post
of
which
you
got
to
see
right
here
behind
mayor
Walsh,
which
is
over
week
of
free
free,
family-friendly
events
in
East
Boston.
It's
just
a
wonderful
wonderful
series
of
events.
Now
one
thing
I
wanted
to
point
out
is
enough
of
the
work
we
do
in
East.
A
A
Please
take
a
look
at
these.
Two
people
get
their
business
cards.
They
are
incredible.
They
work
day
in
and
day
out
on
behalf
of
East
Boston.
They
keep
me
honest.
They
Shepherd
whatever
needs
to
be
Shepherd
through
the
various
departments
at
City
Hall
there
and
the
cat'll
resource
for
all
of
us.
So
thank
you
so.
A
As
I
break
the
mic
without
further
ado,
so
we
have
come
together
this
morning
to
celebrate
the
business
of
the
year
in
East
Boston
and
the
volunteer
of
the
year
in
East,
Boston
and
I've
got
to
tell
you
I've
been
doing
this
for
a
while
I
am
so
thrilled
this
year.
I
really
feel
that
we
have
an
opportunity
to
celebrate
some
of
the
best,
the
finest
the
most
dedicated
advocates
and
friends
of
East
Boston,
who
have
dedicated
so
much
time
and
energy
in
making
this
the
best
neighborhood
that
it
can
be
for
all
of
us.
C
But
that
one
wife
I
want
to
just
I'm.
You
know
what
we've
been
doing
this
down
since
our
second
year
of
going
around
in
acknowledging
businesses
and
volunteers.
We
used
to
do
this
at
an
event
and
The
Strand
Theatre
in
a
hall,
and
we
thought
it
was
really
important
to
bring
this
event
to
the
community
so
that
we
can
encourage
people
to
make
sure
they
shop
on
the
Main
Street
districts
and
just
a
word
briefly
about
about
Main
Street.
It's
that
it's
it's
a
largely
volunteer-based
organization.
C
It's
Max's,
the
tech
director.
He
doesn't
have
a
big
staff.
He
has
employed
all
volunteers.
A
lot
of
the
work
that
gets
done
in
Main
Street
is
volunteers
that
do
the
work,
whether
it's
cleanups
or
setting
up
for
festivals,
and
things
like
that
Main
streets
with
when
they
brought
were
brought
to
the
city
over
25
years
ago,
really
were
brought
by
annunciation
20
in
certain
areas.
C
The
tractor
bring
to
the
community
and
that
takes
that
takes
the
effort
of
the
business
community
in
the
volunteers,
but
it's
also
the
neighbors.
The
people
that
community
live
here
is
best
here.
They
want
to
make
sure
that
Main
streets
are
busy,
so
the
one
before
we
give
up
the
awards
I
just
want
to
just
ask
you.
One
thing:
I'd,
like
you
to
do
is
spread
the
word
that,
when
you're
shopping
and
you're
looking
to
buy
things
online
have
a
lot
of
people
doing
online.
Today
they
go
to
malls
and
things
like
that.
C
Don't
forget
your
Main
Street
districts,
because
the
people
that
are
in
our
Main
Street
districts,
the
majority,
the
people
that
businesses
in
our
districts
they
have
family-owned
business,
is
a
lot
of
them.
Immigrant,
all
businesses
that
came
to
this
country
that
made
an
investment,
that's
not
as
a
business
that
employs
people
that
puts
food
on
the
table
that
pays
page
for
their
own
family,
but
also
provides
a
service
to
the
neighborhood.
So
that's.
Why
we're
here
today
to
celebrate
those
businesses
I
want
to
say
thank
you.
I
also
just
want
to
thank.
C
We
have
crystal
from
from
the
office
economic
development
I
want
to
thank
you,
Emily
Shea,
from
ldq
missions
here
as
well
programs.
We
work
with
our
seniors
and
making
sure
we
have
a
lot
about
seeing
you
is
that
that
shop
and
meet
statistics
I
want
to
thank
them
for
that.
I
want
to
thank
Jean
offend
our
hometown
girl
from
eesti,
Thank,
You
Gina
for
being
in
our
leader
in
transportation
here
in
the
in
the
in
the
city
and
I
would
argue
in
the
state.
C
So
thank
you
Gina,
for
you
then,
and
I
want
to
thank
Commissioner
Evans,
also
who's
here
with
us
today
who
doing
the
tour
today
and
a
bunch
of
other
folks
in
the
city
as
well.
The
first
award
we
have
is
right
here
where
we
are
Hector.
Guerrero
embodies
the
American
dream
and
it's
important.
He
arrived
in
the
United
States
34
years
ago,
25
years
ago,
his
son
was
born.
The
shop
was
named
after
a
son.
He
started
a
business
that
same
year
he
opened
the
business
named
after
his
boy
today.
C
This
is
an
anchor
business
in
East
Boston.
This
is
this
is
about
how
do
you?
How
do
you
continue
to
move
forward?
They're
not
only
dedicated
at
the
business
due
to
customer
service
they're?
Also,
an
employer
in
our
community
and
I
know
that
we
spend
a
lot
of
time
talking
about
all
these
big
companies
that
are
moving
to
our
city.
But
when
you
look
at
the
numbers-
and
you
add
them
all
up-
our
small
businesses
like
this
I've
got
to
have
more
jobs,
employing
more
people
than
all
the
big
companies.
C
C
And
we
have
one
from.
We
have
also
a
citation
from
the
State
House
from
matter.
Oh
come
on.
If
you
graduate
you
and
I
want
to
congratulate
you
on
Jim
Gendry,
all
I
want
to
get
it
right.
I
want
to
make
a
mistake,
collision
center
in
recognition
of
your
commitment
to
the
name
of
what
the
boss
means
this
program,
it's
signed
by
myself
and
John
bardos
chief
economic
development.
We
want
to
congratulate
you
being
East
Boston's,
Main,
Street,
2018
business
of
the
year.
E
We
wanted
to
recognize
your
25
years
of
excellent
service,
making
sure
that
East
Boston
has
a
thriving
economy,
also
wanted
to
recognize.
Other
folks
have
been
working
at
the
city
and
with
making
sure
that
everyone
has
access
to
and
thriving
economy.
I
wanted
a
recognize.
My
friend
and
the
new
I
think
ahead
of
women
advancement,
Tanya
Del.
E
D
H
H
C
And
now
we
have
the
honor
of
presenting
the
volunteer
of
the
Year
award
and,
let
me
just
say
this:
any
Main
Street,
that's
successful
the
volunteers
that
make
it
successful,
save
the
streets,
it's
enough
for
the
festivals,
do
the
work
that
a
lot
of
other
people
want
to
do
that
are
at
events
early
morning.
Setting
up
like
this
one
here
today
are
the
ones
who
stay
behind
afterwards.
Don't
always
get
a
chance
to
enjoy
the
celebration
that's
going
on,
but
without
the
volunteers
we
don't
have
such
successful.
C
C
And
one
of
the
in
strengths
is
his
ability
to
bring
people
around
and
get
them
involved,
and,
and
that's
really
what
makes
tech
the
talked
about.
What
makes
Boston
special
and
it
really
is
the
people
of
our
city
that
makes
it
special
and
it's
about
the
volunteers
and
the
people
that
get
active
in
making
sure
that
our
programs,
successful
I,
want
to
congratulate
you.
E
So
I
just
wanted
to
say,
I've
been
very,
very
blessed
to
get
to
know
dan
and
his
work
and
how
passionate
he
is
about
keeping
history
alive
and
making
sure
we
all
have
access
to
it
and
can
value
it
and
a
lot
of
that
work
goes.
You
know
a
lot
of
people
don't
see
that,
but
the
history
of
a
neighborhood
is
its
character
and
it's
something
that
we're
still
fighting
and
making
sure
that
we
can
maintain
as
we're
developing
a
vibrant,
beautiful
world-class
city.
E
It's
that
balance,
and
it's
been
the
conversations
that
we've
had,
that
you've
helped
to
educate
me
and
helped
me
understand
the
best
way.
The
city
can
make
sure
that
we
love
and
respect
our
history
and
love
our
character,
so
I
want
to
say
for
all
of
that
work.
Thank
you
so
much
and
thank
you
for
making
sure
he's.
Boston
continues
to
have
its
character.
So
half
of
the
city
I
have
a
citation.
G
G
I
I'll
try
to
keep
this
short
because
I
know
it's
really
hot
out
here,
but
I
want
to
thank
max
and
everyone
on
the
Main
Street
support.
I,
look
forward
to
continue
to
working
with
them
on
historic
preservation.
Efforts
in
the
East
Boston
I've
lived
in
the
neighborhood
for
about
six
years
now,
which
I
know
isn't
a
long
time
in
this
neighborhood,
but
I
really
fall
in
love
with
it.
During
that
time,
it's
a
wonderful,
diverse,
welcoming
community
and
I.
C
So
I
want
to
just
again
just
thank
everyone
for
coming
out
today
and
just
if
you
leave
here
today
and
you
go
on
with
your
day
two
things,
one
is
it's
very
hard.
The
Kiev
will
check
on
your
all
play
neighbors.
We
declare
the
heat
wave
in
the
city
of
Boston.
Yesterday
we
put
a
notification,
the
cooling
centers
are
open.
If
you
know
parents,
readers,
open,
they're,
gonna
be
open
for
the
next
I
think
it's
read
straight
days,
and
potentially
we
have
to
expand
that,
but
also
I
just
make
sure.
J
Across
the
Main
streets
and
many
more
than
certainly
but
it's
very
exciting
to
be
here
and
also
with
the
mayor
to
celebrate
Main
Street's
programs.
This
is
a
neighborhood
that
knife
called
home
since
I
moved
here
in
subasta
in
2009,
for
college
and
I
truly.
Do
think
that
Austin
and
Brighton
really
represents
some
really
incredible
things
about
the
city
that
make
the
city
of
Boston
a
great
place
to
be
and
I
think.
That's
where
a
young,
dynamic
and
vibrant
neighborhoods
I
have
really
rich
arts
and
culture.
J
Then
we
do
this
by
providing
technical
assistance
working
with
this
city.
We're
also
working
very
hard
to
celebrate
and
protect
and
promote
our
cultural
district
identities,
and
our
work
really
wouldn't
be
possible
without
the
dedication
that
we
have
from
our
volunteers.
The
partnerships
that
we
have
with
our
local
businesses,
and
also
the
collaboration
that
exists
between
our
Main
Street
programs,
I,
would
definitely
say
that
Liz
and
her
team
at
Bryan
Main
streets
are
our
partners
in
crime
in
the
incredibly
important
and
difficult
work
that
we
do
here
in
Austin.
Right.
J
I
would
say
that
it
wouldn't
be
possible
without
the
collaboration
and
support
and
efforts
from
the
mayor's
office
in
the
city
of
Boston
economic
development
and
Boston
Main
streets.
It's
very
clear
for
the
city
of
Boston,
under
the
mayor's
leadership,
truly
understands
that
small
businesses
are
the
backbone
of
our
community
and
our
local
economy.
J
So
from
watching
the
city's
first
business
plan
to
doing
an
opening
with
Small
Business
Center
to
increasing
funding
for
Main
streets
programs,
mayor
Walsh
is
certainly
understanding
and
supporting
and
making
sure
that
Boston
is
a
viable
place
for
small
businesses
as
we
work
towards
a
really
vibrant
economy
here
in
Boston,
so
the
partnership
they
have
between
Main
streets
programs
in
the
city
is
incredibly
invaluable.
So
without
further
ado.
C
We're
celebrating
today,
business
of
the
year
in
volunteer
of
the
Year
award
for
both
Austin
Village
in
Brighton
Main
streets
here
today
and
I,
want
to
thank
everyone
for
coming
out
today.
This
is
been
exciting
a
couple
years
ago.
We
changed
the
way
that
we
we
do
this
program.
We
used
to
do
it
at
the
Strand,
theater
and
celebrate,
and
it
was
great
people
came
out,
but
it
was
most
of
the
businesses
of
those
neighborhoods
that
we
recognize
came
out.
C
What
we're
doing
today
is
really
bringing
trying
to
bring
awareness
to
the
overall
greater
community
that
let
the
people
know
that
most
of
the
businesses
that
we
have
on
Main
streets,
if
family
owned
they
invest
all
of
their
life
savings.
They
try
to
make
sure
that
they're,
obviously
being
successful
in
meeting
some
a
few
dollars
for
their
family,
but
they're
also
adding
to
the
vibrancy
of
a
community
and
when
you
think
about
an
able
and
having
a
complete
neighborhood.
It's
not
just
about
the
residents
in
in
those
neighborhoods.
C
It's
about
what
services
are
actually
being
brought
to
those
residents.
So
I
want
to
thank
all
the
businesses
that
are
here
today
and
involved
in
Main
streets.
I
want
to
thank
all
of
the
all
of
the
residents
that
are
here
today.
I
want
to
thank
all
the
volunteers
that
I
hit
today,
because
without
all
of
you,
we
don't
have
excitement
like
we
do
here
in
the
Main
Street
program.
C
But
last
year
we're
able
to
make
an
investment
in
Main
streets
and
Mike
was
the
chair
ways
and
means,
and
it
was
able
to
help
us
navigate
that
through
the
process
and
and
we're
going
to
continue
to
make
supports
to
support
our
Main
Street.
So
Thank
You
councillor
for
all
you
do
we're
also
joined
by
state
representative,
Kevin,
Honan
and
I
can
talk
about
small
business
with
Kevin,
but
one
of
the
things
Kevin
accomplished
this
year
is
passing
the.
It
is
not
passing.
C
You
know,
there's
all
kinds
of
proposals
and
developments
coming
all
over
the
place
and
we
look
at
them
and
sometimes
it
they're
not
for
everyone
across
the
board,
and
we
need
to
do
more
from
water
at
low
income
housing
in
the
city
of
Boston
for
people,
so
they
can
stay
in
a
community
because
when
I
say
low
income,
housing,
low
income,
housing
is
the
middle
class
in
a
lot
of
ways
and
neighborhoods.
So
I
want
to
thank
heaven
for
passing
that
legislation.
C
We
also
have
a
ton
of
folks
from
the
city
here
and
I
want
to
thank
them.
All
for
being
here
today
was
balling
around
said
this
stuff.
It's
not
third
day
of
doing
this.
We
have
to
cancel
one
on
Wednesday
because
of
the
rain
and
when
I
reschedule
it,
but
we're
going
around
the
different
district.
So,
let's
get
to
the
let's
get
to
well
we're
here:
the
business
of
the
Year
award,
kirino's
Austin
it
opened
in
2016
it's
a
family-run
business
as
deep
roots
in
the
neighborhood.
C
C
B
Ever
want
to
welcome
you
to
the
neighborhood.
Is
such
a
good
friend
of
Austin,
bright
and
I
want
to
thank
your
administration
for
being
here
as
well,
we're
very
fortunate
in
our
neighborhood
to
have
such
a
vibrant
business
district.
When
people
talk
about
Austin
Brighton,
they
talk
about
the
diversity
of
the
community
and
the
wonderful
restaurants
we
have
and
I've
been
inside,
met
your
mother
and
I
know
the
mother,
mother's
the
boss,
right
Hank,
Austin
buildings
main
streets
with
their
wonderful
work
and
I'm
going
to
present
you
a
citation
after
the
event.
K
F
Keep
it
quick,
Thank
You
mayor
for,
acknowledge
us,
as
this
is
of
the
year,
thank
you
for
Emma
Walters
and
all
the
great
staff
at
Boston,
Main
Street
Village,
for
providing
us
this
opportunity.
You
know
my
family
and
I
had
been
coming
here
for
over
20
years.
This
is
a
great
city
and
we're
glad
that
we
can
finally
be
part
of
this
community.
You
know
when
we
started
up
this
restaurant.
You
know
we
had
Alston
in
mind.
F
C
I
think
the
next
award
is
to
volunteer
the
volunteer
and
I.
Think
Elizabeth
and
Mo
both
admit
this-
that,
without
having
a
strong
volunteer
base,
people
that
help
prep
the
events,
people
that
help
break
the
events
down
after
they're
over
people
that
get
the
information
out,
people
that
sweep
the
streets,
people
that
clean
the
community
that
that's
the
hot
and
soul
of
our
programs.
The
businesses
are
hot
and
so
obviously
need
them
to
run,
but
to
keep
the
Main
Street
program
moving
and
successful
the
heart
and
soul.
C
First
of
all,
he's
great
with
kids
I
just
watched
him
control
two
little
boys
that
are
ready
to
gradient
and
climb
trees
and
a
little
guy,
but
also
and
he's
adding
new
promotions
to
the
committee,
bringing
new
ideas
about
how
to
market
the
the
Main
streets
that
took
continued.
The
businesses
coming
and
making
sure
people
coming
brought
his
pet.
His
talent
and
passion
to
this
organization
over
the
last
year
he's
dedicated
to
keeping
Austin,
Village
and
accessible
district
for
business
and
artists,
something
that
is
really
important
as
we're
coming
in
today.
We're
talking
about
that.
C
It
worked
on
a
new
video
series
focusing
on
Austin
business
as
an
artist
and
basically,
what
would
Matthews
that
he's.
Some
of
these
big
companies
I
talked
about
earlier.
They
hire
graphic
designers
and
they
hide
these
promotional
companies
and
they
spend
tens
and
millions
of
dollars
promoting
their
brands,
and
this
man
right
here
is
doing
it
for
this
community
for
as
a
volunteer
and
that's
what
we
need
in
this
community
so
Matthew.
Thank
you
very
much.
L
So,
thank
you
so
much
mayor
Walsh
for
being
here
in
Austin
Brighton.
It
is
true
that
the
neighborhoods
are
the
heart
of
Boston
and
the
commercial
districts
are
the
heart
of
the
neighborhoods.
So
without
the
support
of
Mayor
Walsh
and
the
Office
of
Economic
Development,
we
couldn't
do
what
we
do
so.
Thank
you
very
much
and
thank
you,
councilor
co-moh,
for
all
your
support
and
thank
you
rep
Honan
for
your
support.
But
okay,
if
I
say
a
few
words
about
sure,
okay.
Well,
one
thing
I
wanted
to
say
about
about
Polly
Grealish.
L
Our
volunteer
is
that
some
of
you
may
know
that
in
the
70s
and
80s
some
people
left
the
city,
especially
with
families.
Paul
is
stuck
with
Brighton.
L
Paula
raise
your
kids
here
and
some
people
would
say
her
say
to
her.
Oh
you're
still
here,
she
said
yeah
I'm
here,
I'm
Brighton.
So
thank
you
for
that.
Another
thing:
I'd
like
to
say
about
Rockland,
which
is
our
business
of
the
year
I,
don't
know
if
you've
heard
the
term
8
and
80.
So
if
the
city
works
for
8
year
olds
and
works
for
80
year
olds,
it
probably
works
for
everyone.
L
C
Anyways
and
before
I
recognized
visit,
the
h1-
oh
just
quick
I-
should
have
done
this
earlier
bill.
Christmas
special
services
here.
Thank
you.
Buddy
for
buddy
has
spent
a
lot
of
time
and
the
also
great
neighborhood,
particularly
around
student
move-in
weekend,
making
sure
that
we've
tried
to
organize
some
of
the
the
I
guess.
Chaos
is
the
right
word
of
that
weekend
and
I
think
since
buddy
who's
been
there.
My
first
year,
we've
heard
a
lot
of
concerns,
and
the
last
after
that
we
didn't
hear
a
lot
of
concerns.
We
were
planning
in
place.
C
C
C
You
know
when
we
think
about
businesses.
All
of
these
different
organizations,
you
know,
are
part
of
making
sure
that
we
are
business
successful,
so
whether
it's
immigrant
advancement,
a
woman
advancement
working
with
our
immigrants,
with
our
small
business
development
and
Economic
Development
Office,
to
make
sure
that
people
have
opportunities,
and
we
want
to
continue
to
push
those.
So
thank
you.
Everyone
for
coming
business
of
the
year
for
Brighton
Main
streets
is
Rockland
trust.
One
asks
Kathy,
Kathy
Kathy
come
on
Kathy.
C
C
Ymca
scholarship
funds
for
seniors,
and
so
many
other
things
so
I
want
to
thank
Kathy
and
also
I,
don't
know
if
Jennifer's
here,
two
of
the
assistant
branch
manager,
she's,
not
vacation
enough
player
she's
on
her
way
to
Maine
right
now,
so
she
should
be
here
with
us
right.
Brighton,
awesome
right!
It's
great
to
be
here,
wants
to
go
to
the
nice.
Why
doesn't
make
but
I
want
to
congratulate
you
in
Rockland
trust
and
on
behalf
of
myself
in
City,
Council,
Marshall
and
state
representative
Kevin
Harlan.
M
So
I
just
like
to
say
thank
you
very
much
to
Liz
in
the
board
of
directors
of
Brighton
Main
streets,
I'm
Jennifer,
my
assistant
manager
is
pod
of
that
board,
and
so
she
is
always
participating
in
whatever
Main
streets.
It's
got
going
on.
We
love
giving
back
to
the
community.
That's
one
of
the
huge
things
with
Rockland
Trust
is
that
we
are,
and
so
I'm
very
lucky
today,
to
have
the
manager
from
Austin
here
with
me
and
two
of
my
originators
for
the
Austin
Brighton
area
too.
So
thank
you
again
and
thank
you
Liz.
M
D
C
Paul
has
strong
ties
to
the
community
and
she
certainly
has
gone
above
and
beyond
to
make
sure
not
only
her
community
is
strong,
but
the
Main
Street
is
strong
and
again,
as
I
said
earlier,
I
can't
stress
enough
the
importance
of
having
good
volunteers
and
and
when
you
recognize
as
a
volunteer,
the
that
means
that
you've
gone
above
and
beyond
all
the
other
volunteers
in
some
way.
So,
if
you're
a
volunteer
and
you
want
this
award,
you
have
to
do
more.
F
K
My
name
is
Richard
rouse
I'm,
the
director
of
Mission,
Hill,
main
streets
and
I
guess
I
have
to
get
this
show
on
the
road
and
I
want
to.
Thank
all
of
you
all
the
department
heads
all
the
people
from
City
Hall
who
came
up
kids
and
helped
make
this
a
splendid
event.
We
have
a
couple
of
our
elected
officials
here,
I
should
have
them
say
a
word
or
two
with
Sameach.
Before
you
know,
our
senior
men
in
the
delegation
is
a
guy
who
makes
us
proud
every
single
day.
He
happens
to
be
my
state
representative.
K
D
D
Everybody
Thank
You
Richie
I.
Thank
you.
Mr.
mayor
for
this
tour
I
see
our
counselors
Josh
taken
legit
Josh.
How
are
you
buddy
good
to
see
you
guys,
thanks
for
coming
out
on
a
beautiful
day
to
celebrate
our
community,
our
matrix
program
and
rich,
and
this
team
have
done
an
incredible
job.
We've
had
a
beautiful
celebration
a
few
nights
ago
when
we
had
a
packed
house
and
Richie
and
the
board.
Thank
you
for
pulling
it
out.
There's
you
know
today
is
a
great
day
we're
recognizing
the
great
new
business
in
this
community.
D
My
friend
end
up
hearing
the
Laughing
monk.
Where
is
he
he's
wearing
somewhere
there?
He
is
give
a
round
of
applause.
You
know
the
mayor's
got
stuff
to
say
I,
just
wanna
say.
Congratulations
and
Chad
is
also
our
volunteer
of
the
year
Thank
You
Chad.
Thank
you.
Okay,
I
won't
take
any
more
time
because
you
know
how
much
I
love
a
microphone.
D
K
Thank
you
very
much
Jeffrey.
We
have
our
district
city
councilor
here
and
it's
nice
to
have
Amir
he's
like
Martha's
Vineyard,
Charlton
Burke.
She
amounts
and
places
like,
but
he's
here
today,
instead
of
on
the
cake,
relaxing
doing
that
because
he's
trying
to
do
something
he's
trying
to
run
for
office.
So
why
don't
I
just
have
Josh
taken?
Please
just
come
safety
all.
N
N
It's
an
incredible
partnership
between
those
city
departments,
particularly
fire
and
ISD
when
it
comes
to
small
businesses,
opening
up
and
the
people
in
these
neighborhoods.
So
it's
a
privilege
to
be
here
to
represent
you
on
the
Boston
City
Council
I
just
wanted
to
stop
by
and
say,
congratulations,
the
exciting
I
know
it's
been
a
lot
of
work
to
get
this
place
up
and
running
and
to
see
it
being
honored
here
today
with
the
mayor.
Is
incredibly
exciting,
so
thank
you
all
and
a
congratulations.
K
D
K
We
are
very
fortunate
here
at
Mission
Hill
to
have
such
a
good
cooperative
business
community
neighborhood
institutions
who
get
along.
This
is
a
special
neighborhood
because
of
the
wonderful
residency
and
people
who
do
things
and
we
honor
a
gyah
just
a
couple
of
people
who
go
on
the
way
to
do
something
special,
and
we
have
so
honored
that
our
mayor
comes
and
recognizes
this
and
he's
somebody
I'm.
K
K
C
Thank
you
rich.
You
know
I
want
to
thank
I'm
Ritchie
in
the
Main
Street
program
here
with
Mission
Hill,
to
doing
incredible
work,
which
he
talks.
A
lot
about
the
past
and
I
can
tell
you
this
one
of
them.
One
of
the
first
races
that
I,
really
truly
remember,
is
when
Richard
I
was
running
for
state
represent
him
in
Dorchester.
He
was.
C
He
was
my
state
representative
before
redistricting
came
and
it
was
signs
everywhere
for
Ritchie
and
and
I
saw
the
importance
of
really
Ritchie
won
that
first
race
like
door
to
door
and
knocking,
and
it
wasn't
about
it,
wasn't
about
it.
The
best
conversations
about
policy
in
the
neighborhood,
like
Mission,
Illinois,
sure
it's
people
are
concerned
about
policy,
but
the
more
concerned
about
having
somebody
there
for
them
to
represent
them
and
I.
Remember
that
researchy
look
like
it
was
yesterday.
C
C
We're
out
here
today.
Celebrating
businesses
and
volunteers
from
Main
streets
and
Main
streets
is
a
key
component
to
a
thriving
community
and
a
good
strong
neighborhood
base
is
a
key
component
to
a
thriving
neighborhood
community
and
you
can't
really
have
one
without
the
other
and
our
businesses
here
in
Mission,
Hill
I
diversified
are
the
needs
that
people
need
in
communities
are
on
Main
streets,
I,
just
left,
Austin,
Village,
Main
Street.
We
got
off
the
trolley
and
there
was
a
shoe
shop
there
and
I
ran
and
I
bought
some
shoelaces
and
what
that
would
have
been.
C
Then
it
was
a
small
purchase,
but
what
that
might
have
been
was
going
online,
ordering
shoelaces
having
delivered
web
ie,
Amazon
or
somebody
in
the
box,
and
that
local
business
wouldn't
have
the
opportunity
to
make
that
sale.
And
that's
what
we're
asking
people
here
for
this
week
and
what
we're
doing
in
Boston
is
really
the
people
that
own
these
restaurants
and
businesses.
C
We
have
their
individuals
they're,
not
company,
they're,
not
corporations,
they
think
their
life
savings
into
these
businesses
that
they
put
everything
they
have
their
blood,
sweat
and
tears
in
these
businesses
to
make
them
successful.
And
it's
important
for
us
that
we
repay
them
back
by
coming,
not
today,
recognize
them,
but
by
shopping
here.
So
I'd
ask
all
of
you,
as
we
leave
here
today,
make
sure
you
tell
the
other
community
members
you
know
buying
online
and
going
the
malls
all
great
I'm,
not
saying
it's
not
doing
that.
C
So
that's
important,
so
I
want
to
take
thank
Jeff
as
well
and
then
Josh
the
same
thing
is:
we
have
a
good
partnership
right
now
in
Mission
Hill,
with
the
three
of
us
working
on
issues
and
Johnson,
trying
to
screw
that
up
and
run
all
the
state
trying
to
run
for
office.
So
you
know
you
know
we'll
figure
that
out
later,
but
I
want
to
I
want
to
thank
Josh
as
well
the
business
of
the
year,
the
laughing
Month
Cafe
offers
incredible
food
as
you
can
eat
right
now.
C
It
helps
make
our
neighborhood
that's
another
destination
benefits,
other
businesses
as
well,
very
active
in
the
community,
and
what
you're
getting
out
of
this
business
is
what
you
want
out
of
a
business,
not
a
business
that
comes
in
and
has
a
corporate
sign
on
the
top,
and
no
one
knows
the
connection
to
the
person
and
it's
that
the
manager
changes
every
five
minutes.
We
know
when
you
walk
into
this
restaurant,
the
people
behind
the
counter
own
the
business
or
they're
connected
to
the
owner.
C
C
D
C
C
And
if
they
said
and
said,
early
a
Main
Street
program
is
a
program
to
decide
in
the
city
about
25
years
ago,
the
executive
directors
and
doesn't
get
paid
a
lot
of
money.
The
Boyd
volunteers
that
time
what
keeps
a
Main
Street
program
moving
is
the
volunteers.
Just
like
I
said
the
businesses
can
be
the
heart
and
soul
of
a
community,
but
the
Main
Street
directors
board
the
board
of
directors
and
the
people
who
volunteer
are
the
ones
actually
keep
the
program
moving
forward.
C
Jadon
president
of
the
Community
Alliance
mission
Hill,
he
devotes
countless
hours
for
the
betterment
of
a
neighborhood,
and
you
can
tell
that
here
in
this
community
he's
obviously
a
big
supporter
of
Main
streets
and
he's
the
first
person
to
step
up
and
help
help
with
what
anything
happening
in
Mission
Hill.
And
you
need
that
person,
because
I
said
earlier
today,
when
the
event
is
happening,
it
has
to
be
people
to
set
up
when
the
event
is
over.
There
needs
to
be
people
to
break
down.
