D
Good
morning,
everyone
shall
we
just
bow
our
heads
for
a
moment
of
prayer
god,
our
father.
We
thank
you
today
for
this
beautiful
day
of
celebration.
D
90
graduates
have
graduated
and
they
have
completed
their
core
training
and
we
thank
you
for
their
family
support
systems.
We
thank
you
for
their
spouses
and
their
immediate
family
who
have
supported
them
through
all
their
training
as
they
embark
upon
a
wonderful,
wonderful
career
of
sisters
and
brothers
within
the
fire
department.
D
Well,
we
pray
today
a
special
blessing
upon
them
and
the
entire
department
that
you
will
protect
all
of
them
from
life's
hurt
harm
and
dangers,
and
god
we
pray
today
for
our
boston,
mayor
wu
and
for
all
those
who
work
with
her
in
her
cabinet
and
for
the
retiring
chief
of
department.
Commissioner
dempsey,
we
pray
that
you'll
bless
him
as
he
enters
into
a
new
realm
of
peace
of
mind.
God,
we
pray
that
you
will
bless
this
city
today
and
all
who
work
in
collaboration
to
make
this
a
great
city.
D
We
pray
in
the
name
of
the
father,
the
son
and
the
holy
spirit.
Everyone
say:
amen,
amen,.
E
Good
morning,
everyone
thank
you
so
much
and
thank
you
reverend
thompson
for
a
beautiful
invocation
and
prayers.
Thank
you,
rabbi,
korff
also
for
for
your
service
for
many
years.
I
I
want
to
start
where
the
reverend
led
us
a
little
bit,
which
is
to
really
channel
our
thanks
and
appreciation
to
commissioner
jack
dempsey.
E
E
36
years
is
a
lot,
but
I
will
say
in
fact
that
the
last
three
years
that
he
has
served
as
commissioner
probably
have
felt
like
36
just
by
themselves,
and
so
we
are
so
grateful
for
your
leadership
and
especially
as
for
me
as
a
new
mayor
in
this
role.
I
I
would
not,
I
would
have
been
totally
lost
and
so
your
partnership,
your
guidance
as
I
will
never
forget
that.
Thank
you,
jack.
E
E
You
knew
heading
into
this
that
you'd
make
lifelong
friends
and
those
sitting
next
to
you
and
you're
about
to
step
into
the
deep
lifelong
camaraderie
and
friendship
that
we
know
as
the
legacy
of
the
boston
fire
department.
First
in
the
country,
the
skills
that
you
have
learned,
the
technical
training
that
you've
gotten
fits
in
that
legacy
of
knowing
that
in
boston.
E
When
things
happen,
we
are
at
a
different
baseline
than
other
places
around
the
country
and
around
the
world,
but
for
all
the
things
that
you've
had
to
learn
and
memorize
and
practice
and
all
the
little
details
at
the
bottom
of
it.
It's
a
very
basic
human
thing
that
you
are
now
completely
trained
to
do
to
be
there
for
other
people
when
they
need
it
most
we're
in
a
moment
in
our
world,
where
sometimes
that
sense
of
trust
is
fleeting.
E
All
of
our
city
can
draw
inspiration
from
the
work
that
the
boston
fire
department
does
and
that
our
first
responders
do,
which
is
that,
if
we
think
about
what
trust
is
at
the
core
of
it,
it
is
believing
and
having
faith
that
your
fellow
human
being
is
going
to
be
there
for
you,
even
if
you've
never
met
them.
Even
if
you
might
not
ever
see
them
again.
E
Unfortunately,
also
we've
gotten
to
see
each
other
over
these
last
four
months
at
a
number
of
big
events
and
incidents
that
really
show
showcase
and
highlight
the
risks
that
you
are
stepping
into
as
well
building
collapses,
incidents
in
the
frigid
waters
in
the
charles
and
in
the
harbor
fires,
as
the
commissioner
and
I
are
getting
updates
just
right
now
about
a
four-alarm
fire
that
that
was
quickly
taken
care
of
and
very
professionally
and
swiftly
with
no
injuries.
And
we
thank
god
for
that.
E
You
could
have
done
anything.
You
could
have
gone
to
any
path.
You
could
have
served
in
any
number
of
ways
and
what
you
have
chosen
and
what
you
are
now
trained
and
ready
to
do-
is
that
most
noble
sacrifice
of
putting
your
lives
on
the
line,
so
that
our
city
will
be
a
place
where
everyone
can
count
their
family
members
and
their
loved
ones
as
being
safe
and
healthy
and
cared
for.
E
We
swore
in
90
of
you
16
weeks
ago,
and
today
we
have
90
of
you
all
of
you
back
today,
and
that
is
incredible
accomplishment
as
well.
So
I'm
just
here
to
say:
congratulations
in
just
a
few
moments.
You
will
officially
be
boston,
fire
department,
firefighters,
the
oldest
department
in
the
country,
a
legacy
of
bravery
going
back
nearly
350
years.
E
You
represent
every
single
one
of
our
neighborhoods
here
in
boston
and
the
people
you
serve
and
protect.
Are
your
neighbors,
your
family,
your
friends,
these
communities
that
we
are
entrusting
to?
You
are
your
communities
and
we
will
all
be
safer
because
you
are
here
today
for
every
resident
in
every
neighborhood,
in
every
corner
of
our
city,
on
behalf
of
the
entire
city
of
boston.
E
G
Thank
you.
So
we
have
a
bunch
of
dedicated
firefighters,
but
look
how
dedicated
our
civilian
staff
is.
Lenny
gets
up
here
and
belts
out
such
a
rendition
of
the
amer
national
anthem.
It's
unbelievable.
I
hope
the
boston
garden
or
family
park
didn't
hear
you,
because
we
can't
afford
to
lose
her
so
good
morning,
mayor,
wolf,
chief
of
operation,
michelle
mcmahon,
deputy
chief
of
labor
in
hr
and
legal
connie,
wong
reverend
thompson,
local
70
team
president,
sam
dillon,
members
of
the
boston
fire
department,
families
and
friends.
G
G
G
G
G
G
G
Look,
listen
and
learn
from
the
senior
firefighters
in
your
offices
find
a
senior
firefighter.
You
can
talk
with
and
ask
a
million
questions
as
you
move
on
today
go
to
work
each
day
with
a
positive
attitude
and
a
willingness
to
learn,
respect
others
and
learn
your
job
and
that
will
earn
respect
that
will
earn
me
respect
and
return,
treat
your
fellow
firefighters
and
civilians
with
kindness
and
care
and
heart
enjoy
this
great
job,
but
understand
that
you
have
been
given
a
trust
that
must
not
be
violated.
G
G
H
Good
morning,
everyone
I
want
to
thank
vice
president
leroy
haywood
of
local
718
members
of
the
executive
board
for
being
here
today.
Commissioner
dempsey,
thank
you
for
your
leadership.
Thank
you
for
your
decades
of
service
to
this
city,
whoever
your
successor
may
be.
They
have
some
very
large
and
impressive
shoes
to
fill.
We
know
they'll
be
up
for
the
challenge,
but
on
behalf
of
local
718
and
the
boston
fire
department.
Thank
you
for
everything.
You've
done.
H
Mayor
wu,
I'd
like
to
thank
you
as
well
for
being
here
today
we're
a
profession,
that's
defined
by,
as
you
said,
our
legacy
and
our
calling
of
of
showing
up
and
showing
up
to
help
others,
no
matter
the
situation
and
no
matter
our
beliefs
or
their
beliefs,
differences.
H
H
You
cannot
let
them
down,
and
I
know
that
you
won't
the
challenge
you
face
before
you
is
outweighed
only
by
the
opportunity
as
boston
firefighters.
You
now
have
the
ability
to
directly
change
someone's
life,
don't
ever
waste
it.
We
are
this
city's
lifeline
on
their
darkest
days
and
in
their
most
trying
moments.
The
citizens
of
boston
know
that
they
can
call
on
us
and
we
will
always
answer
their
crimes
for
help.
H
H
Courage
in
the
face
of
fear
and
a
life
will
be
forever
changed,
because
a
boston
firefighter
was
on
duty
that
day
on
behalf
of
local
718
and
the
boston
fire
department.
Congratulations,
I
wish
you
all
the
very
best,
and
I
promise
to
always
advocate
strongly
on
behalf
of
you
and
your
families
enjoy
your
day
and
enjoy
it
well
because
tomorrow,
it's
time
to
go
to
work,
we'll
see
you
out
there
and
we
look
forward
to
everything
that
you're
going
to
accomplish
and
bring
to
your
new
family,
the
boston
fire
department.
A
I
I
I
During
the
past
last
17
weeks,
our
foundation
was
laid
for
you
to
become
a
professional
firefighter,
a
boston
firefighter,
a
foundation
that
you
found
out
was
not
built
on.
Sand
was
pressed
into
your
lives
and,
from
now
on,
you
will
be
a
tactical
athlete
somewhere
ready
somewhere
close,
and
some
of
you
guys
need
a
little
encouragement.
I
I
A
G
Could
all
the
ffops
rise
please.
I
Before,
if
again,
I
feel
I'd
be
remiss
if
I
did
not
congratulate
sam
dillon
on
the
birth
of
his
son.
I
I
I
F
A
J
J
J
I
did
not
understand
that
when
we
were
conducting
hundreds
of
flutter
kicks
and
endless
lectures
about
how
we
should
not
curse
by
instructor
spence,
but
with
each
passing
week.
I
started
to
see
why
that
is
some
people
would
say
it's
for
the
pay
or
the
schedule.
But
now
I
see
it's
because
of
the
people.
J
The
third
is
always
keep
your
pma,
your
positive
mental
attitude
with
you,
for
it
is
contagious
and
will
spread
to
those
around
and
finally,
four
there
is
no
such
thing
as
a
goodbye
only
to
see
you
later
so
to
the
graduating
class.
I
will
see
you
all
later
on
days
that
we
may
think
will
never
end
or
days
when
either
you
or
I
are
detailed
out.
J
J
At
this
time,
I
would
now
like
to
present
our
class
plaque,
a
special
thanks
to
jacobson
jones,
who,
on
day,
one
of
the
academy
stepped
up
to
be
in
charge
of
the
house
fund
with
the
money
left
over.
We
purchased
this
plaque
so
that
our
class
will
forever
be
enshrined
at
the
boston
fire
academy.
Thank
you.
A
K
K
May
they
be
conscious
of
your
power
and
your
protection
o
lord,
that
in
the
rigors
of
their
duties
and
the
pressures
of
the
moment,
these
firefighters
will
know
and
feel
in
their
hearts
in
their
minds
and
souls
the
wonder
and
the
grace
and
the
protection
of
your
peace
and
guidance.
Oh
lord
guide
them
and
their
families
protect
them,
sustain
them
in
this
holy
noble
work
that
they
do
for
you,
o
lord,
and
for
all
of
us.
Your
people
bless
them
in
their
new
tasks
for
in
their
tasks.
They
bless
us
in
your
name.
