We open up our coverage of the 50th season of the Boston Neighborhood Basketball League, as we head to the historic Tobin Community Center in Mission Hill for a Boys 15 & Under game between the BLA Dragons and Marshall Spoilers.
A
Hello
Boston
and
welcome
to
the
historic
Tobin
community
center
as
we
kick
off
our
coverage
of
the
50th
Boston
neighborhood
Basketball
League
season
tonight
in
Mission
Hill.
As
tonight,
the
PLA
dragons
we're
taking
on
the
Marshall
spoilers
hello,
everybody
I'm
pat
flowery
de
jour
tonight,
I'm
joined
by
my
partner
Seth,
our
rensky
and
Seth,
we're
in
the
50th
season
of
the
Boston
neighborhood
Basketball
League.
A
C
Is
it's
really
impressive
how
this
league
has
been
able
to
grow?
You
just
look
at
how
many
different
community
centers
have
been
added.
The
level
of
play
you've
seen
some
really
dominant
players
over
the
years.
In
the
last
couple
years,
we've
seen
quite
a
few.
These
players
make
the
leap
to
the
college
level
and
had
some
success
in
part,
because
what
they've
done
over
the
summer
and
working
to
better
their
games,
no.
A
Question
which
a
lot
of
good
players
come
through
here
over
the
years
and
we're
hope
to
continue
to
see
some
over
the
next
couple
years,
as
we
cover
this
league
now
for
more
in
this
game
and
some
of
the
players
that
have
come
through
here,
we'll
go
to
our
sideline
reporter
Leverett
ball
Leverett.
What.
D
D
Thanks
guys,
so
the
bmbl
has
really
produced
a
lot
of
top
talent
over
the
years.
One
of
those
players
includes
current
Minnesota
timber,
wolf,
Shabazz,
Napier
and
plenty
of
other
players.
Who've
gone
on
to
play
for
various
professional
and
college
teams.
Now
it'll
be
interesting
to
see
what
some
of
the
players
suiting
up
this
evening
can
do
in
the
long
run
with
their
basketball
careers.
The
bmbl
is
the
place
to
play
in
the
summer.
D
A
Thanks
very
much
and
as
usual
bmbl
we're
set
to
go
as
soon
as
they're
ready
to
go
with
both
teams.
We
are
set
to
go
in
the
announcer
booth,
Tobin
community
center
here
in
Mission
Hill,
as
you
mentioned,
as
Leverett
mention.
A
lot
of
good
players
have
gone
through
here.
That's
the
DLA
dragons
in
the
light
blue.
Meanwhile,
the
Marshall
spoilers
in
the
dark
green
and
the
BL,
a
Dragons
comprised
of
several
Latin
Academy
Dragon
players.
C
E
C
Gm
so
he'll
give
some
tips
here
and
there,
but
he's
not
allowed
to
fully
coach
the
team.
They
also
their
18-under
team,
big
focus
here
at
the
1500
level,
gaining
chemistry
in
game,
and
that
should
help
them
here.
Don't
get
as
many
practices
don't
get
as
many
games,
but
at
three
you
know
already
they
showing
a
little
bit
of
that
chemistry
working
from
the
JV
level
and
into
the
summer.
Dragons
control
be
opening.
A
C
A
As
you
mentioned,
they
open
it's
a
15
and
under
game.
Sometimes
you
watch
some
of
these
players,
not
sure
what
age
they
are.
Some
of
these
guys
grow
over
the
summer
for
three,
no
good
that
time
for
marshal
spoilers,
but
they
get
their
own
rebound
and
feed
it
inside
Sasha,
wolf,
Garen's,
going
to
be
whistled
for
the
foul
and
that's
gonna
stay
on
the
floor.
C
C
A
C
A
C
The
issue
for
PLA
is
this:
is
a
pretty
big
gift
eating
on
her
team.
The
Marshall
spoilers
they've
got
a
couple
guys
who
are
probably
standing
close
to
6
feet,
Boog
Erin's,
probably
enough
to
go
to
the
bench.
I
mean
the
running.
Clock
helps
but
they're
still
1252
to
go
in
this
first
half
and
they're
gonna
have
to
replace
him
with
the
guy
who's.
Clearly,
maybe
growing
into
his
body
a
little
bit
more
in
number
22
on
this
roster.
Never
you
Kesava.
C
C
A
C
C
A
C
C
C
C
A
C
And
that's
what
the
Dragons
need
to
do.
More
of
it
was
a
nice
job
to
get
the
ball
to
Apple
in
the
corner,
got
past
his
defender
and
when
you're
beating
the
press
down
court,
you
don't
want
to
slow
it
down
and
let
them
get
numbers
back.
You
need
to
swing
the
ball,
the
defenders
movie
and
then
get
it
either
an
open
look
at
a
three
or
trying
to
drive
down
towards
the
basket
and
get
an
open
layup
or
take
it
back.
Oh.
A
C
C
Vla
is
just
not
making
enough
of
those
50/50
plays
against
the
team
is
long
and
they're
really
missing.
Osasco
Garen
with
those
two
early
fouls
I
think
he's
got
to
come
in
sooner
rather
than
later,
not
really
wearing
as
much
with
foul
trouble
with
a
running
clock.
He
gives
you
a
little
bit
more
time.
A
Dragons
take
a
timeout
with
5:21
left
to
go
in
the
first
half
right
now.
The
school
is
with
a
10-point
lead
and
one
of
their
biggest
players
so
far
has
been
Nathan.
Roberts
who's
done
really
well
on
both
ends
of
the
floor
for
the
spoilers
folks,
you
want
to
follow
us
on
social
media.
Certainly
follow
us
on
Facebook
facebook.com,
slash

A
C
A
C
A
C
A
C
Like
the
substitution
pattern
for
both
of
these
teams-
Dan
ain't
talking
to
Dan
bunker,
he
said
that
we've
got
11
or
12
guys
we're
gonna
cycle
everyone
through.
They
need
to
see
the
game
minutes
it's
less
about,
though
the
wins
and
losses,
especially
during
the
regular
season
here,
pmbl
and
more
about
getting
guys
a
chance
to
really
learn
in
the
game.
A
C
C
A
C
A
C
C
A
C
A
C
That
chemistry,
knowing
where
work,
was
going
to
be
that's
a
PE
basket
with
only
two
or
three
seconds
left
in
the
half
and
down
by
nine.
It
doesn't
seem
like
that
much
the
difference
between
nine
and
eleven,
but
it
gives
the
guys
some
confidence
and
again
the
defense
just
hasn't
been
good
enough,
but
this
Oilers
team,
we
didn't
really
know
what
we're
gonna
see
didn't
know
as
many
of
the
names
going
in
there
long
they're,
athletic,
very
talented
and
we
thought
BLM
might
have
the
edge
in
chemistry.
It
has
not
been
the
case.
A
You
mentioned
that
last
basket
at
the
end
of
the
first
half.
It's
such
a
difference
when
you
go
into
halftime,
saying
we're
down
by
nine
as
if,
instead
of
being
down
by
11,
the
single-digit
instead
of
doubled,
it
just
makes
a
big
difference
in
young
players
heads
especially
when
you're
you've
only
got
a
16
minute.
Half
it's
mostly
running
time,
so
the
half
cooks
by
a
lot
faster
than
they
normally
think
it
does
but
you're
right
though
it
seemed.
C
And
they
do
such
a
nice
job
in
the
press
a
lot
of
times
when
you
see
a
team
that
has
a
male
to
practice,
the
press
a
lot,
a
couple
guys
look
where
they're
supposed
to
be,
but
the
rest
of
the
guys
won't
and
it
leads
to
easy,
looks
the
other
way.
Instead,
everybody
is
moving
exactly
where
they
need
to
be
creating
some
turnovers,
making
it
difficult
and
getting
back
once
they've
been
able
to
break
the
press.
No
question.
A
D
F
D
F
A
Thanks
very
much
Leverett
and
West
McClain
certainly
gives
the
props
that
the
LA
dragons
he
knows
that
they
are
a
very
solid
team
and
we
saw
PLA
miss
a
few
layups,
especially
in
that
first
half,
so
he
probably
thinking
in
the
back
of
his
head.
You
know
if
they
hit
a
couple
of
those.
This
could
be
a
four
or
five
point
game,
yeah.
C
And
there
were
some
50/50
balls
where
B
la
got
their
hands
on
a
chance
for
a
defensive
rebound,
didn't
grab
that
I
mean
there's
a
reason.
This
boy
isn't
leading,
but
it
could
be
a
four-point
game.
They
could
be
a
13
or
14
point
game.
I
like
the
fact,
though,
the
focus
was
on
their
really
good,
passing
and
being
unselfish.
That's
what
they've
done
so.
Well,
though,
this
is
a
long
three
for
the
most
part,
they're
passing
the
ball
around
until
they
get
the
best
option,
rather
than
looking
for
that.
First
look.
A
C
C
C
Yeah,
there's
chato
Santos
wide
open.
You
got
to
do
better
on
the
two-on-one
has
to
get
a
shot
off,
preferably
a
wide
open
one
Santos,
that's
a
nice
job,
putting
a
little
pressure
on
the
ball
there
with
Ethan
Robertson
to
force.
Another
turnover
spoilers
had
not
started
all
that
well
offensively
here
in
the
second
half.
C
A
C
Right
decision
from
Robertson
right
decision
from
Werth,
but
too
often
we've
seen
whoa
Garen
or
this
case
worth
being
the
lone
defender
back
and
look
at
this.
We
just
talked
about
web
with
another
great
save
I
mean
that's
an
NFL
wide
receiver.
Tiptoeing
along
the
line
he's
been
really
really
impressive,
with
his
vision
and
a
couple
of
great
defensive
plays
and
a
couple
great
space.
C
A
C
But
it
was
interesting
to
Yahoo
Santos
kind
of
baited
in
you
see.
Santos
is
the
only
guy
back
and
did
a
nice
job
of
defending
both
the
shot
and
the
pass
Robertson
needed
to
take
one
more
dribble.
If
he
had
given
up
a
second
later,
the
defender
would
have
had
to
commit,
then
it
would've
been
the
easier
look
is
said
there
was
some
contact
force
at
the
two
free
throws.
So.
C
A
C
C
A
C
C
C
As
much
as
this
has
to
be
frustrating
for
Omar,
beretta
and
Dan
bunker
to
watch
because
their
team
hasn't
been
consistent,
enough
they've
been
frustrated,
they
have
been
doing.
Some
of
the
things
that
PLA
is
known
for
watching
Martinez
in
Santos
gives
me
a
lot
of
confidence.
What
the
backcourt
should
look
like
the
next
couple
of
years.
These
guys
Cooper,
talented
and
really
good
with
the
ball.
C
As
I
announce
our
curse,
yeah
then
you've
tried
to
get
a
little
too
aggressive
there,
but
that's
gonna
happen
and
that's
part
of
why
they're
getting
a
little
more
experienced
at
this
level.
These
guys
will
probably
play
15
and
under
and
if
needed,
will
be
called
upon
to
play
in
some
of
the
18
under
games.
C
And
Pat
it
it's
interesting.
This
is
a
BL,
a
team.
That's
three!
You
know
we
don't
know
what
the
record
of
the
marshal
spoilers
is
coming
into
this
one,
but
we
talked
about
the
50th
year
of
bmbl.
Well,
the
tolven
is
a
center
known
for
their
basketball,
always
have
really
highly
competitive.
Very
warm
games,
typically
in
the
Tobin's
right.
C
Helps
you
once
you
get
to
a
cooler
site
because
you've
been
playing
it
in
a
hot
summer,
maybe
you're
a
little
less
likely
to
get
fatigued
if
it's
20
degrees
cooler,
but
look
up
at
that
banner
across
the
way
from
us.
They
won
their
first
one
in
87
and
then
won
a
lot
more
have
not
wants
to
see
you
wonder
if
this
boilers
group
could
be
one
of
the
few
teams
that
has
a
chance
to
bring
one
back
for
the
tolls.
Maybe
this
summer
in
the
fiftieth
year,
Roberts.
A
Are
able
to
hit
the
lay
up
after
a
nice
move
towards
the
rim?
That's
a
good
point
set
to
me.
I
can't
imagine
another
15,
other
team
be
much
bigger
and
longer
an
athletic,
miss
Marshall
spoilers
soon,
we'll
see,
I
mean
there's
so
many
games
throughout
the
EMBL
season
that
we
don't
get
to
see.
Every
single
team
Robert.
C
But
there's
a
good
chance
that
these
guys
have
played
together
before
maybe
a
you,
some
kind
of
lead,
maybe
they're,
even
a
team
that
we
don't
necessarily
cover
in
the
Boston
City
League,
but
what's
been
really
impressive
to
me,
is
the
teamwork
and
how
well
they
execute
that
press,
because,
especially
in
the
summer,
where
you're
not
getting
to
practice
as
much,
you
don't
get
really
much
time
between
the
games
having
an
effective
defense,
they
can
surprise
the
opponents,
or
at
least
slow
them
down,
can
cause
a
lot
of
problems.
Our
sideline.
D
Guys
so
one
player
who
stood
out
for
the
spoilers
of
thus
far
has
been
number
15
Nathan
Roberts
Roberts
can
do
a
lot
of
different
things,
he's
able
to
drive
to
the
hoop
and
shoot
from
outside,
which
makes
him
especially
hard
to
defend
he's.
Also,
unusually
quick
for
a
player
of
his
height,
he
got
off
to
particularly
hot
start
at
the
beginning
of
this
game,
with
nine
just
the
first
half
alone.
He
continues
to
add
to
that
total
back
to
you.
Thanks.
C
H
C
And
halftime
now
Jordan
at
the
free-throw
line
it
kind
of
looking
across
I,
don't
know
if
it's
father,
son
uncle
son
either
way
they're
definitely
related
in
one
way,
and
typically,
when
you
have
a
coach
and
a
player
who's
related
to
a
coach
cho's,
typically
they
have
a
higher
IQ
may
be
able
to
pick
off
certain
things
on
the
court
that
another
player
might
not.
So
it's
great
to
have
it.
Someone
related
to
the
coach
on
the
team
as
well.
It's
just
that
added
benefit.
C
A
C
A
Is
one
of
the
downfalls
of
having
the
running
clock
when
you
get
fouled?
Is
that
normally
in
a
basketball
game
when
you're
down
you
try
to
get
to
the
free-throw
line,
they
try
to
stop
the
clock
and
you
try
to
get
points
when
the
clock
isn't
moving,
but
in
bmbl,
because
it's
running
time
it's
almost
a
disadvantage,
because
a
lot
of
time
goes
off
the
clock
when
you're
at
that
free-throw
line.
C
C
C
I,
like
the
timeout
Santos,
there
tried
to
dribble
through
three
or
four
guys,
almost
got
the
ball
over
to
well
Garrett
and
then,
when
the
ball
went,
the
other
way
just
sat
there
with
his
head
down
a
little
dejected,
which
you
understand,
you're
down
by
18,
haven't
lost
this
summer.
But
this
team
needs
to
just
reset
a
little
bit.
There's
a
wide
open
player.
It
mean
it's
fine
to
have
eyes
on
the
ball,
but
you
have
to
recognize
there's
three
guys
back.
C
A
Seen
both
back
court
made
siano,
Santos
and
Eddie
Martinez,
trying
to
dribble
through
this
press
for
the
Marshall
spoilers
and
every
coach
on
any
level
of
basketball
will
always
say.
The
best
way
to
move
through
a
press
is
to
pass
it
up
the
floor
out
of
the
dribble
folks
will
follow

good,

C
I
think
that
time
for
Santos
it
was
more
Martinez,
isn't
on
the
floor.
I
kinda
have
to
take
it
upon
myself
as
finally
drop
out
of
the
press
and
Santos
read
able
to
take
advantage,
breaks
it
up,
calling
that
a
hard
cut
little
coupe,
although
he
almost
had
a
steal
after
that,
it's
one
of
those
things
you
have
to
learn
them,
it's,
okay,
to
occasionally
dribble
it's
just!
You
can't
consistently
try
to
dribble
in
you
have
to
pick
and
choose
that
time.
There
were
four
guys
who
were
focused
on
him.
C
A
A
C
Forward
to
the
next
meeting
between
these
two
teams,
because
I'm
sure
GLA
will
talk
about
how
do
we
break
the
press?
We
need
to
make
some
of
those
50/50
plays.
We
did
make
in
the
first
half
on
the
game
was
a
little
bit
closer,
only
9
points
at
halftime,
but
the
big
thing
is
this
Marshall
team
if
they
have
all
nine
players
on
their
roster,
because
sometimes
in
the
summer
you
do
maybe
not
have
a
couple
of
guys
they're
on
vacation.
They
can't
make
it
for
this
or
that
and
yeah.
A
C
A
Seven-Point
win
here
for
the
Marshall
spoilers
as
they
take
down
the
LA,
dragons
44
37,
and
a
really
nice
effort
here
from
the
spoilers
tonight.
You
saw
the
depth
of
this
team.
You
saw
the
size
of
this
team
and
the
athleticism
it
seemed
like
they
had,
especially
like
probably
four
or
five
guys,
maybe
even
five
or
six
guys,
who
could
just
basically
do
a
little
bit
of
everything
out
on
the
floor.
Yeah.
C
I
mean
the
first
time
that
we
saw
them
bring
their
bench
in
a
Samoa.
Mota
came
out.
He
was
one
of
their
biggest
players
and
Copeland
didn't
score.
All
that
much
showed
a
nice
little
touch
there
very
deep
everyone.
It
knows
what
they're
supposed
to
do
in
terms
of
the
press,
which
is
huge,
because
if
you
got
three
players
playing
the
press
right
and
two
playing
it
wrong,
it
typically
leads
to
easy
baskets,
but
they
had
a
lot
of
good
ball
handlers,
couple
good
shooters
and
what
I
liked
cuz?
They
were
very
unselfish.
It
wasn't.
C
A
Right
we
saw
that
throughout
the
game,
both
in
the
first
and
second
half
how
a
lot
of
different
guys
got
involved.
We
mentioned
I,
won't
bore
in
the
game.
Eight
of
the
nine
players
on
the
roster
had
scored
points
and
several
of
those
guys
had
more
than
just
two.
So
a
lot
of
guys
getting
a
lot
of
good
looks
this
Marshall
spoilers
team
folks
we're
gonna
head
to
break.
When
we
come
back,
we
will
have
the
MVP
of
this
game.
The
winning
coach
in
our
final
stats
here
for
the
tobik
community
center
right.
E
E
J
K
J
So
there
you
are
shuffling
through
a
stack
of
resumes
and
you
come
to
mind
this.
Is
it
first
impression
my
way
in,
but
can
my
resume
show
you
how
I
truly
stand
out
like
that
I
was
studying
going
to
night
school,
while
working
two
jobs
just
to
help
my
parents
pay
for
groceries
or
being
the
first
one
now
always
step
up?
No,
that's
something!
You
just
can't
put
on
paper.
Look
beyond
the
resume
and
discover
new
ways
to
develop
great
talent
that
is
dedicated,
hardworking
and
determined.
H
B
I
A
Welcome
back
to
the
Tobin
community
center
in
Mission
Hill
at
the
conclusion
of
game
of
the
week
as
the
Marshall
spoilers
took
down
the
BL,
a
dragon's
44
to
37
and
Seth.
Throughout
this
game,
we
saw
a
lot
of
guys
make
a
lot
of
contributions.
You
pointed
out.
Julian
Webb,
who
had
a
great
game,
didn't
quite
fill
up
the
scoring
side
of
the
stat
sheet.
That
did
a
lot
of
different
things,
but
Nathan
Roberts
really
had
a
great
game.
A
C
Roberts
11
points,
7,
rebounds,
4
assists
or
7
assists
and
4
steals.
You
look
at
that.
Even
if
all
of
the
assists
were
twos
you're
talking
about
25
of
the
team's
44
points,
he
was
dominating
this
game.
His
length
really
helped.
He
showed
he
could
shoot
the
three
and
has
a
nice
little
touch.
He
is
a
young
big
who
has
a
chance
to
be
a
very
good
young,
big.
It's
it's
scary
because
he's
one
of
many
guys
who
could
be
an
MVP
on
any
night
for
a
team
with
the
amount
of
depth
they
show
tonight.
A
D
D
H
D
F
D
F
D
F
Well,
trying
to
get
I
definitely
try
to
get
every
player
in
the
game
and
I
think
we
just
trying
to.
We
know
we
got
ten
games
for
the
whole
season,
so
we
want
to
grow
every
game,
so
the
kids
all
play
on
different
AAU
teams.
They
all
play
on
different
school
teams,
so
they're
going
to
somehow
try
to
create
some
chemistry
within
the
next
ten
ten
weeks
then
hopefully
we'll
leave.
This
site
will
win
this
site
and
we'll
play
against
some
other
site.
But
we
got
a
lot
of
competition
over
here.
Well,.
D
A
Thanks
very
much
Leverett
and
coach.
The
clan
again
saying
you
know,
certainly
has
a
lot
of
respect
for
this
PLA
Dragons
team
and
is
happy
with
the
win
I
believe
now.
The
marshal
spoilers
are
for
and
oh
and
sitting
pretty
here
in
the
Toba
community
center.
As
we've
said
before,
though,
this
is
a
site
where
anything
could
happen
at
any
night
there's
so
many
good
players
and
teams
that
come
through
here,
good
coaches,
God,
you
know
we
saw
Chuck
Davis,
who
was
in
the
game
before
ours.
A
C
Kind
of
felt,
like
we
were
watching
a
Patriots
postgame
press
conference.
It
was
all
about
complimenting
the
opposing
team
talking
about
energy
talking
about
working
hard,
which
is
not
a
bad
thing
when
you're
talking
about
a
summer
league
team
we're
supposed
to
be
having
fun
and
it's
interesting.
The
last
question
might
have
been
the
most
revealing
to
me
and
that
all
these
guys
play
for
different
AAU
teams.
All
these
guys
play
for
different
teams
near
chels
talking
about
building
chemistry.
G
A
No
question
we
certainly
enjoyed
watching
them
play
tonight
and
they're
gonna
be
fun
to
watch
down
the
stretch
and
possibly
in
the
B
NBA
championships.
It's
probably
it's
way
too
early
to
say
that
it's
only
week
two
but
we'll
see
what
happens.
It
looks
good
tonight.
Let's
look
at
take
a
look
at
the
final
stats
here
from
the
Tobin
CC
before
we
sign
off
here
from
Mission
Hill
and
first
up
its
the
PLA
dragons
yeah.
C
You
see
Werth,
he
started
off
strong
hit
a
couple
of
buckets
finished
with
the
team
leading
11
Martinez
did
a
nice
job,
getting
some
line
finished
with
nine
Bulgarian
very
nice.
Young
big
needs
to
work
on
his
touch,
got
a
team
high
8
rebounds
worth
adding
six
more
and
then
two
assists
each
of
the
team's
two
point:
guards
Santos
and
Martinez,
who
did
a
nice
job
moving
the
ball
when
they
were
able
to
get
it
past
that
press?
Let's.
C
I
mean
Roberts
you're
gonna,
see
a
lot
of
him
led
the
team
with
his
11
points
and
seven
assists.
My
guy
was
Webb.
He
had
a
really
impressive
game,
despite
not
looking
for
his
own
shot
a
lot.
He
had
six
points.
Six
rebounds
and
three
assists
from
the
point
guard
position
and
then
McLean,
adding
four
rebounds
for
the
coaches
relative
in
somewhat
yeah.
A
You
mentioned,
we
saw
Webb,
see
Webb
and
Roberts
there
a
couple
of
times
on
that
snap
sheet,
so
that
just
shows
you
the
overall
impact
that
those
guys
made
on
this
game
so
certainly
a
fun
one
here
tonight
at
the
Tobin,
as
we
always
expect.
This
is
our
first
of
several
regular
season.
Bmbl
games
will
be
covering
throughout
the
next
couple
of
weeks
before
we
had
the

here
in

in

50
