From YouTube: Three Kings Day Celebration 2020
Description
In City Hall's Mezzanine, Chief Marty Martinez and the Deputy Consul of Mexico, Rita Maciel joined the Latino community to celebrate Three Kings Day, or "El dia de los Reyes." In Latin America and the Caribbean, January 6th is known as the Epiphany, which is the day the three kings arrived bearing gifts for the newborn Jesus.

My
name
is
Jose

I
am
the
Latino
liaison
for
the
our
mayor,
Mary

a
here
in
the
city
of
Boston.
It
is
a
pleasure
for
me
to
a
welcome
to
every
one
of
you
here
at
the
City
Hall
and
well.
We
are
here
to
celebrate
the
annual
three
kings
day
celebration.
D
The
other
radius
in
this
is
a
tradition
that
is
happening
for
several
years
already
here
at
City,
Hall
and
well
again.
This
is
my
first
time
that
actually
hosting
this
event
and
I
appreciated
so
much
that
a
the
response
for
every
one
of
you
well
in.
Thank
you
so
much
to
order
the
sponsors
and
the
Consulate's,
the
electro

They
are
here
also
with
us.
D
G
Thank
you
so
much
hey,
Zeus
and
I
just
want
to
recognize
councillor
Flynn
who's
here
with
us
as
well
today,
so
hello,
everybody
were
in
SDS
on
behalf
of
Mayor
Walsh
and
the
mayor's
office
for
immigrants
meant
want
to
wish
you
happy
Kings
day
celebration,
feliz
de
los
tres,
estrellas,
Margo's,
I
I
know
that
this
is
a
very
important
celebration
and
particularly
to
our
for
our
Latino
community
and
its
celebrated
in
diverse
ways.
I
think
you
all
know
the
story
of
this
day.
It's
it's.
G
G
There's
a
small
figurine
of
baby,
Jesus
and
tradition
holds
that
whoever
gets
this
figure
will
have
to
host
the
tamales
party
on
February,
2nd,
so
hey,
soos
I
do
expect
you
or
someone
here
to
host
a
tamales
party
and
then
in
Spain
in
people
eat
Roscoe
are
known
as
rose
corn
instead
of
hosting
a
party.
However,
whoever
gets
the
figurine
of
baby
Jesus
will
be
in
charge
of
paying
the
following
year's
Kings
cake.
G
So
someone
needs
to
take
care
of
that
as
well
for
us,
but
it
varies
across
the
different
communities
and-
and
so
we
celebrate
that
here
and
and
celebrate
different
cultures
and
religions,
as
you
know,
we
had
a
menorah
candle
lighting
just
a
little
while
ago
in
Ramadan
we
have
an
iftar
and
those
are
the
values
that
the
City
of
Boston
and
Mayor
Walsh
is
about.
So
wanna
again
congratulate
you
for
this,
and
you
know
and
delighted
to
be
here
to
celebrate
this
with
you
all.
Thank
you
so
much.
D
A
D
H
H
H
Thank
you
to
Deputy
Council
of
Mexico
Marita
maciel,
who
we're
going
to
hear
from
I.
Think
after
me,
thank
you
for
being
here
w
Council
and
thank
you
to
the
leaders
that
are
here.
I.
Think
city
councilor,
ed
Flynn
is
with
us
as
well
Thank
You,
councillor
Flynn
for
joining
us,
and
thank
you
for
the
all
the
city
hall,
folks
that
are
here
with
us
today
we're
here
to
celebrate
a
three
kings
day.
It
was
on
Monday,
I
know:
I
was
like
it
wasn't
us
on
Monday.
H
It
was
on
Monday,
but
I'm
glad
we
have
an
opportunity
to
celebrate
together.
First,
what
we
want
to
do
I
want
to
read
the
remarks
that
the
mayor
had
intended
to
give,
because
the
mayor's
message
is
a
message
for
all
of
you
and
he
wishes
he
could
be
here.
He
may
still
try
to
sneak
it
at
the
end
if
he
can
get
back
in
time,
but
first
he
wanted
to
remind
us
to
keep
our
Puerto
Rican
brothers
and
sisters
in
our
prayers.
H
So
we
just
want
to
make
sure
that
that
we
do
that
together,
their
people
have
proven
time
and
time
again
that
they're
strong
and
resilient
and
will
continue
to
be
strong
and
resilient,
not
only
there,
but
here
in
Boston,
and
so
we
stand
with
them
together.
We
also
urge
the
federal
government
to
give
them
the
support
they
need
and
deserve
as
American
citizens.
It's
important.
H
We
don't
forget
that,
and
so
I
want
to
make
sure
folks
know
that
again,
three
kings
day
is
a
great
time
to
celebrate
the
strong
and
vibrant
spirit
of
the
Latino
community
in
Boston,
but
they
knows
make
up
over
20%
of
our
population.
They
account
for
almost
all
of
our
city's
population
growth.
In
the
last
40
years,
I'm
gonna
say
that
again,
if
we
didn't
have
Latinos
in
Boston,
we
would
not
be
the
size
of
the
city
we
are
today,
and
so
that's
an
important
thing.
Keep
in
mind
our
community.
H
It
says
there
their
contributions
are
endless,
touch
all
parts
of
Boston
life
and
help
make
Boston
the
thriving
city
it
is
today.
Latinos
are
a
big
part
of
our
future
as
well.
Two
days
ago,
the
mayor
gave
his
annual
State
of
the
City
address.
He
talked
about
how
we're
moving
Boston
forward
on
issues
like
education,
transportation
and
housing.
H
The
success
of
our
city
is
rooted
in
in
our
shared
values
and
belief
that
we
are
a
great
city
of
opportunity
for
all
for
all
of
our
people
and
our
diversity,
our
greatest
assets,
and
that
includes
our
Latino
community-
he's
proud,
I'm
proud,
and
he
is
appreciative
I'm
trying
to
do
this
here.
I'm
proud
and
he's
appreciative
of
the
Latino
leaders.
He
has
here
in
City
Hall,
who
are
advancing
some
of
the
most
important
work
in
Boston,
Health
and
Human
Services,
of
course,
he's
proud
of
his
Health
and
Human
Services.
H
Work
he's
also
proud
of
the
work
that's
happening
in
women's
equity,
small
business
growth,
veteran
services,
Housing
Census,
food
access,
just
to
name
a
few,
so
many
Latino
leaders
serving
mayor
Walsh
in
the
administration,
and
we
have
many
more
dedicated
city
employees
working
to
ensure
everyone
is
included
in
welcome
here
at
a
time
when
national
division
is
holding
people
back.
All
you
have
to
do
is
turn
on
the
news
to
see
that
Boston
is
moving
forward.
We
continue
to
stand
united
as
a
proud
city
of
immigrants.
H
H
This
is
what
Boston
is
all
about
and,
as
we
look
ahead
to
a
new
year
in
a
new
decade,
it's
a
good
time
to
renew
our
commitment
to
make
Boston
the
best
it
can
be
for
everyone
and
to
make
sure
that
the
Latino
community
is
lifted
up
in
celebrations
and
traditions,
but
also
more
importantly,
and
opportunities
that
everyone
gets
to
take
advantage
of
in
our
city.
On
behalf
of
the
mayor,
let
me
thank
you
for
joining
us
here
today.
H
D
I
Thank
you
very
much
Vidal.
Thank
you
very
much
for
being
us
today.
It's
a
honor
for
the
Mexican
Consulate
to
be
with
you
today
in
this
special
celebration.
I
were
to
take
the
city,
the
boss
of
Austin
and
particular
major
Martin
Walsh,
and
the
office
of
neighborhood
service
for
bringing
the
community
together
so
to
to
the
Latino.
Listen
Jesus
Garcia
for
inviting
us
I
want
to
talk
a
little
for
the
kinky.
I
I
D
Consul,
thank
you
so
much
well.
She
was
talking
about
one
of
the
traditions
in
Latin
America,
which
is
in
this
case
Mexico.
We
have
the
roast
carriages
they
actually
they
bro.
So
an
example
for
us.
So
after
this
program,
please
I
invite
everyone
to
join
the
food,
also
provided
by
a
the
organization
maja,
which
is
the
attornies
of
the
spanish
attorneys
in
massachusetts,
and
they
collaborate
with
us
today
in
please.
D
A
Something
that
we
cannot
touch
is
something
that
we
really
can
feel
in
our
community.
So
just
the
fact
that
protecting
that
love
with
with
the
the
Virgin
Mary
who
was
protecting
Jesus
on
their
journey,
so
she
was
protecting
the
faith
of
the
human,
so
the
law
of
the
peace
and
the
hope.
So
that's.
What
for
us,
is
very
important
to
pass
on
this
tradition
and
it
goes
beyond
an
original
religion,
because
it's
love
is
the
love
that
a
mother
and
a
father
gives
to
their
child.
That
child,
that
is
gonna,
become
an
adult
somebody.
A
That's
gonna
become
a
leader,
somebody,
that's
gonna,
become
a
father,
a
mother,
so
that
is
what
we
have
to
protect.
That
is
why
we
are
in
advocate
Robles
cultural
center.
We
are
so
focused
on
this
kind
of
traditions,
because
we
want
them
to
continue
with
that
in
mind
and
all
of
the
traditions
of
Latin
America
and
we
want
to
embrace
the
traditions
of
other
cultures,
so
I
invited
to
also
get
to
know
a
little
bit
about
Veronica
Robles,
and
thank
you
very
much
because
we
just
move
to
our
new
location.
A
Stay
tuned
for
more
information
about
the
grand
opening,
but
last
Saturday
we
celebrate
our
first
event
on
a
rush
moving
and
celebrating
putting
together
the
three
kings,
which
is
a
blessing
we
have
over
400
people
coming
in
warm
in
the
house.
So
thank
you
very
much
to
the
city
of
Boston.
I
am
Boston,
we
are
Boston
and
we
are
so
proud
of
our
mayor
and
our
people
who
works
here,
a
big
round
of
applause
to
all
of
you,
their
staff
and
from
every
world.
Thank
you
very
much.
