From YouTube: Goodwill Inc.'s Thanks-for-Giving Event 2019
Description
At the Goodwill Headquarters in Roxbury, Mayor Walsh showed his thanks to the community by serving turkey and stuffing at the annual Goodwill Thanks-for-Giving event. Other servers in attendance included Senator Ed Markey, Attorney General Maura Healey, State Rep. Jon Santiago, and City Councilors Annissa Essaibi George, Kim Janey, Matt O'Malley, and Ed Flynn.
A
And
this
is
the
first
goodwill
internationally
and
we
can
track
back
a
celebration
for
Thanksgiving
through
the
people
in
the
program
and
the
people
serving
for
over
a
hundred
years.
It's
a
long-standing
tradition,
and
as
with
every
year
this
year,
we
have
so
much
to
be
grateful
for
we're
grateful
for
our
board
of
directors.
It's
very
committed
and
engaged
in
our
board.
Chair
thing,
I
think
we're
grateful
for
all
the
businesses
and
community
agencies
who
support
us,
and
today,
I,
would
point
out
we'll
reforms
that
every
year.
B
A
B
God
bless
you
all
hello.
Everyone
bless
you
I'd
like
to
do
something
a
little
different
in
my
prayer
this
year,
I'd
like
to
get
you
to
help
me
so
I'd,
like
anyone
in
this
section
here
to
shout
goodwill
toward
all
very,
very
good
goodwill
toward
home
brothers.
Goodwill
toward
all
in
this
section
here
good
will
say
that
goodwill
toward
all.
B
B
B
You
are
named
interdependence
in
life.
We
all
need
each
other.
We
all
require
support
from
each
other,
just
to
survive
so
from
all
our
elected
officials
to
all
our
business
and
civic
leaders,
all
our
volunteers
from
every
walk
of
life
may
your
grace
and
mercy
bless
the
food,
those
who
will
receive
those
who
will
serve
and
maybe
carry
out
this
spirit
of
goodwill
toward
all.
When
we
leave
this
place
today
and
go
into
our
own
world,
then
your
Holy
Name
I
pray.
We
pray.
A
A
A
So
what
we're
well
aware
that
we're
somewhere
between
dessert
and
dancing,
so
what
we
have
some
incredible
supporters
here
that
would
like
a
chance
to
say
hello
and
have
let's
recognize
them
so
I'm,
going
to
start
with
mayor,
Marty,
Walsh
she's
right
behind
him,
so
he's
going
to
kick
us
off
and
we'll
just
slow
down.
Thank
you.
A
D
Wait
good
morning,
if
you'd
have
to
do
everybody
how's
the
turkey
how's,
the
sweet,
potatoes
how's,
the
pine.
Is
everyone
ready
to
go
dancin
all
right,
I
won't
talk
too
long.
Let
me
just
say
first
of
all,
I
wish
everyone,
a
very
happy
Thanksgiving
everyone
here
and
food
will
probably
get
around
applause
with
all
the
staff,
who
do
an
amazing,
probably
low.
D
I'll
probably
give
a
round
of
applause
to
all
the
special
service.
Today,
Thank
You,
serving
and
I
wanted
to
seek
knowledge.
I
want
to
take
out
from
the
city
of
Boston
and
there's
a
there's.
A
bunch
of
people
here
and
I
want
to
thank
them
for
coming
city
councilor
and
he's
a
sobbing
George
naked
console.
Detroit
City,
Council
man,
O'malley
Thank,
You
council
malli
will
give
up
breaking
city
council
kidding
Gini
up
in
a
minute
to
say
a
few
words
Thank
You
councillor
Janey.
D
We
have
city,
council
and
Flint
is
here
Thank
You
council
and
we
have
our
Commissioner
Boston
fight,
Obama
Joe,
finding
information
of
of
being
in
today
you
have
Sheila
Dillon,
chief
of
housing
with
us
today.
Thank
you.
Sheila
deal
Irish
from
inspectional
services,
then
you'd
be
on
Brenda
cassellius
from
our
superintendent
superintendent
school
is
here:
Thank
You
Brendan.
Thank
you.
Jim
Green,
there's
a
lot
of
work
on
transitional
housing
and
helping
the
homeless.
D
Thank
you
Jim
and
there's
a
whole
bunch
of
other
folks,
any
of
I
didn't
mention
and
I
still
love
you
I
wanna
I
just
want
to
come
by
and
thank
everyone
for
a
beautiful
year.
Thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
come
by
MIT.
My
team
is
helped
me
to
services
Thank
You
mighty.
Thank
you
for
all
you
do
every
year,
it's
an
honor
to
be
here.
I
know
that
there's
a
lot
of
speakers
here
so
I'm
gonna
hand
the
microphone
off
in
a
minute.
D
I
want
to
give
a
special
shout
out
to
treasure
Deb
Bober
for
her
great
work,
training,
general
Maura,
Healey,
US,
Senator,
Ed,
Markey
and
I
want
to
thank
the
Speaker
of
the
House.
From
yesterday
we
signed
into
law
the
governor
signed
into
law
a
bill
on
education.
That's
going
to
bring
a
lot
more
money
to
Boston
in
the
car.
D
And
also
also
in
this
neighborhood
we've
been
dealing
with
the
opioid
crisis
and
John
Santiago
he's
a
fairly
new
state
representative.
He's
done
an
amazing
job
of
jumping
in
on
the
issue
he's
a
doctor,
so
he
understands
the
issue
but
working
with
Aaron
and
the
speaker
to
get
money
in
a
supplemental
budget
at
the
State
House.
It's
so
important.
So
I
want
to
thank
you
guys
for
doing
that.
D
D
Think
I
got
the
Attorney
General
already
shouldn't
come
up
here
and
speak
in
a
minute.
Thank
you.
So,
let's
turn
the
microphone
over
to
city
councilor,
Kim
Gini,
who
else
yesterday
we
passed
also
van-like
legislation
regarding
that
the
new
industry
in
Massachusetts
that
the
marijuana
industry,
so
we
kind
of
landmark
to
make
it
equitable
for
people,
city
council
congenial.
E
E
You
heard
our
mare
introduce
all
of
the
folks
who
are
here
in
elected
office,
but
all
of
the
other
folks
who
work
in
our
city
departments
and
at
the
state
level
to
ensure
that
Boston
and,
in
fact
is
the
city
where
we
can
all
try
and
be
happy
that
our
families
can
be
safe
and
goodwill
is
an
important
part
of
that
puzzle,
and
so
I
just
want
to
thank
the
leadership
here.
I
want
to
thank
the
staff.
E
I
want
to
thank
the
board
for
this
amazing
work
that
you
do
every
day,
I'm
currently
new
on
the
Boston
City
Council
I've
just
completed
my
first
term.
This
is
only
my
third
time
coming
to
this
event
and
I
can
honestly
say
this
is
one
of
my
favorite
events
and
the
fact
that
it
happens
right
here
at
my
district
I
am
so
blessed.
So,
thank
you
for
the
work
that
you
do.
This
is
an
amazing
way
to
keep.
E
E
F
F
F
And
every
Thanksgiving
is
we're
starting
to
approach
that
day.
This
is
an
event
that
I
stopped
thinking
about
it.
This
is
an
event
that
I
that
I
really
look
forward
to
coming
to,
because,
quite
frankly,
Thanksgiving
is
one
of
my
favorite
holidays
and
I.
Think
that
that's
just
what
it's
all
about,
giving
thanks
and,
quite
frankly,
I
can't
think
of
a
better
place
to
be
with
our
group
of
people
better
to
be
with
in
those
who
are
here
today,
who
not
only
give
thanks.
F
You
know
we're
very,
very
fortunate
to
have
the
leadership
that
we
have,
whether
it's
in
our
city,
whether
it's
state,
whether
it's
our
great
United,
States,
Senator
rocky,
that
we
have
people
who
really
watch
out
to
make
sure
that
everyone
most
vulnerable
young
whole
whatever
it
may
be
taken
care
of.
So
with
that
I
sincerely
want
to.
Thank
you
want
to
thank
you
for
your
hospitality.
We
want
to
thank
you
for
having
me
here
today.
I
am
very
fortunate
to
be
joined
by
Jamie
enough
ways
of
means
he's
the
guy
with
the
money.
F
G
G
Not
only
going
to
take
a
picture
with
helmet,
an
apron
now
take
a
couple
pictures
be
serving
turkey
yeah
the
turkey
head.
Mr.
speaker,
thank
everyone.
Good
afternoon
I
gave
my
name
is
John
Santiago.
The
new
state
representative
I
only
been
in
office
for
11
months
now,
and
I
really
realize
the
honor
of
my
life
to
serve
the
constituents
here
in
the
Southland
and
Roxbury
and
Julian
also
simultaneous
to
service
emergency
room
doctor
and
when
I
think
about
Thanksgiving.
G
It's
it
is
the
best
day
of
the
year
cause
it's
really
about
being
thankful
and
serving
the
community,
and
today
the
fact
that
I
get
to
be
with
so
many
outstanding
public
servants
and
serving
the
community.
It
means
something
to
me
so
I
want
to
thank
you
all
I'll
be
working
side
in
the
emergency
room
if
anyone's
wondering,
but
thank
you
because
serving
the
community
and
serving
the
public
at
large
I
think
about
the
last
couple
days.
G
The
fact
that
we
passed
an
extraordinary
education
bill
with
an
extraordinary
anti-tobacco
flavor
build
an
amazing
distracted,
driving
bail.
I
can
go
it's
great
to
be
in
there
11
months,
a
my
catch.
The
other
relay
but
I'm
glad
I
got
to
play
a
role
in
out
of
the
other
team,
sir
and
I
think
I'm
going
to
be
introducing
dead
Goldberg.
Our
distinguished
treasurer,
it's
good
to
see
you
all
over
the
district.
Thank
you.
H
Thank
you
everybody
for
being
here
today.
This
is
my
sixth
year
serving
on
the
day
that
we
are
able
to
celebrate
Thanksgiving
and
candidly
I
am
thankful
for
the
opportunity
to
thank
all
of
you
and
serve
all
of
you
in
this
room.
Thanksgiving
would
not
have
meaning
to
me
as
much
as
it
does
by
being
able
to
be
here
and
see
everyone's
happy
faces
and
be
even
fine
people
who
wanted
seconds
on
their
vegetables
who
raise
your
hand
if
you
had
seconds
on
your
vegetable.
H
There
you
go
there,
you
are
so
I
want
to
thank
the
people
from
goodwill
for
giving
me
this
opportunity.
I
want
to
thank
all
of
my
friends
who
are
standing
here
behind
me
for
the
work
that
we
do
to
make
people's
lives
better,
but
be
able,
but
to
be
able
to
be
in
this
from
to
share
this
occasion.
With
all
of
you
touches
my
heart
and
I.
I
To
always
note
about
massachusetts
in
in
this
day
in
particular,
is
that
I
think
the
measure
of
a
community,
the
value
the
worth
of
the
community
is
really
in
how
we
take
care
of
those
most
vulnerable
among
us.
That's
really
the
true
measure
of
the
greatness
of
a
community
and
as
I
stand
here
today,
I
can't
think
of
a
place,
an
institution
and
effort.
It
celebrates
that
that
exudes
that
more
than
goodwill,
morgan
memorial
and
the
likes
of
all
of
you.
So
thank
you
for
that.
Happy
Thanksgiving.
I
J
I'm
really,
really
sorry
to
say,
with
your
me
dancing
as
a
Cuban:
that's
the
last
thing
I
ever
want
to
do,
but
happy
Thanksgiving,
everyone
I'm
so
happy
to
be
here
again.
This
is
my
second
second
year
I.
Think
if
I
would
know
this
for
many
other
years,
I
would
I
would
have
been
here,
but
I've
only
been
with
the
administration
for
two
and
a
half
years,
so
here
I
am
and
I'm
coming
back
every
year,
so
you're
stuck
with
me
I
just
want
to
say
thanks
keeping
from
me.
J
It's
just
such
a
happy
time
and-
and
everyone
just
gave
all
these
great
thank-yous
and
I
and
I
just
did
Oh
everything
everyone
just
said,
but
for
me
it's
so
much
about
the
stories
and
I
think
as
I
as
I
get
older.
I
start
reflecting
upon
different
things
and
and
I
am
very,
very
fortunate
to
be
having
Thanksgiving
tomorrow
with
my
husband
and
my
five
children
and
my
new
puppy,
but
it
is.
J
It
is
a
time
for
me
to
think
about
what
is
going
on
in
my
life
and
the
things
that
I'm
thankful
for
and
you're
part
of
that
and
you're
part
of
that
community
and
you're
part
of
my
story
and
I.
Thank
you
all
for
helping
me.
Have
you
part
of
my
my
story
today
and
forever
I
love
being
here?
I
think
you
guys
are
awesome.
I
have
new
friends
here,
my
boss,
re-entry
group,
which
it's
a
fabulous
program
that
by
my
friend,
lots
of
re-entry.
J
Everyone
deserves
a
second
and
third
chance,
and
even
more
so
I'm
really
happy
that
we
have
this
incredible
program
here.
It
was
higher
with
Joe
and
you
have
a
fantastic
Thanksgiving
and
we
were
very
happy
to
serve
and
your
pumpkin
pie
is
ready.
So
joy
and
I
just
want
to
recognize
Commissioner
Tony,
Wolfe
and
Amy
Kershaw
from
department
of
transitional
assistance
at
our
also.
J
K
Blessed
are
the
prisoners
and
blessed
and
goodwill
for
remembering
everyone
on
Thanksgiving
and
the
mayor
has
already
gone
down
this
litany
of
saints
who
are
here
and
helping,
and
we
thank
you
in
your
great
city.
Mr.
mayor
Kim,
thank
you
for
hosting
us
representative,
but
this
is
a
special
day.
The
best
day
of
the
year
is
Thanksgiving,
because
we
have
an
opportunity
to
bring
the
whole
community
together
and
wish
everybody.
