From YouTube: Mass Golf Amateur Tournament Trophy Presentation
Description
History is made at George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park! For the first time since its inception in 1903, the Mass Amateur Golf Championship was held at municipal golf courses, with rounds being played at both William J. Devine Golf Course in Franklin Park and George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park. Mayor Walsh joined Mass Golf Executive Director Jesse Menachem and Mass Golf President Bunk Reed, to present the trophy to the tournament winner on the final day of match play.
A
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
good
afternoon,
thank
you
all
so
much
for
being
here
for
the
final
round
of
the
110th
Massachusetts
Amateur
Championship.
My
name
is
Jesse
menachem
I'm,
the
executive
director
of
mass
golf
I've
got
some
very
special
guests
with
me
up
here
today.
They'll
be
introduced
momentarily,
but
I'd
like
to
take
a
moment
and
just
recognize
what
a
special
week.
This
was
not
only
for
the
city
of
Boston,
but
for
mass
golf
for
the
first
time
hosting
our
marquee
championship
at
truly
public
municipal.
A
A
We
really
had
some
stellar
play
this
week.
We
had
fantastic
weather
I,
for
one
am
glad
this
was
not
last
week.
It
would
have
been
a
little
bit
challenging
for
everybody,
but
nonetheless,
I
am
I'm
so
proud
that
144
players
that
seated
up
Monday
Tuesday
and
our
Match
Play
competitors
that
made
it
Wednesday
through
Friday,
and
here
we
are
with
our
runner-up
in
our
champion.
So
congratulations
to
all
the
competitors
this
week.
A
A
And
now
I'd
like
to
point
out
the
individuals
involved
in
this
championship
from
day,
one
like
I
alluded
to
before
this
has
been
a
true
partnership
for
the
last
10
years,
not
only
through
hosting
amateur
competitions,
whether
it
be
the
Amateur
Public
Links
qualifying
rounds
for
the
USGA
we're
here
this
week
at
the
State
Amateur
Championship.
In
addition
to
that,
we
have
our
first
tee
programming
youth
development
programming
at
the
Franklin
Park.
So
we
are
so
proud
of.
A
What's
been
accomplished
here
in
the
city,
we
look
what's
ahead,
but
without
further
ado,
I'd
like
to
recognize
this
gentleman.
Just
to
my
right.
Mr.
mayor
mr.
Cheeseman
mayor
Marty
Walsh,
we
also
have
Dennis
roach
director
of
administration
in
Scott
Allen,
the
head
professional
here
at
George
Wright.
They
should
be
recognized
with
a
tremendous
round
of
applause.
A
For
gentlemen,
who
are
not
here
at
the
moment,
I'd
like
to
recognize
first
and
foremost
of
two
superintendents
that
have
done
phenomenal
work
here
on
these
golf
courses.
The
last
ten
years
there's
been
projects
through
mark
lunging
to
restore
these
to
what
they
become
today.
So
I'd
like
to
point
out
and
recognize
mr.
Len
Curtin
here
is
George
Wright
and
mr.
Russ
Heller.
How
about
a
big
round
of
applause.
B
So
thank
you
for
being
here
with
us
I,
also
on
thanked
that
the
council,
City
Council,
needs
to
sabe,
Georgian
and
state
senator
Collins,
who
here
this
is
an
exciting
time
in
the
city
of
Boston,
and
you
know,
golf
is,
is
a
great
game
in
these
courses
that
you
play
it
on
Franklin,
Park
and
George
Wright
many
young
kids
in
the
city
of
Boston,
who
otherwise
were
not
a
chance
to
understand.
I'll
get
a
chance
to
play
the
game
of
golf.
B
We
have
great
programs
through
our
Parks
and
Recreation
Department
and
they
get
a
chance
firsthand
to
see,
and
some
of
some
of
our
young
people
in
Boston
have
gone
to
our
schools
and
actually
got
their
start
playing
golf
here
and
going
on
to
college
and
getting
scholarships
so
excited
to
have
all
of
you
here
today
to
the
winner.
That's
Trenholm
and
congratulations
good
thing.
I
wasn't
playing.
B
C
B
C
Well
I've
been
hearing
this
week
is
everybody
knows
her,
it's
really
true,
I
mean
so
I
won't.
I
won't
say
much
more
about
her,
be
except
to
say
that
if
you
don't
enjoy
being
with
her
be
weather
on
the
golf
course
or
off
the
golf
course,
you
should
find
another
line
of
work
because
he's
one
of
the
nicest
guys
in
the
golf
world
or
in
any
world.
So
he
played
great
today
ran
into
a
bit
of
a
birdie
train
in
the
former
patrick
throated,
but
nevertheless
he's
our
runner-up
for
the
2018
amateur.
D
D
The
course
was
just
in
great
shape,
and
you
could
feel
the
excitement
that
the
golf
courses
had
to
have
this
event
and
it
was
an
honor
to
be
playing
and
it's
an
honor
to
so
to
finish,
where
I
did
I
played
with
a
great
guy
today
and
he
is
putting,
and
his
golf
game
was
amazing,
so
I
can
keep
my
head
up
and
I
know
that
I
played
well
I
just
got
beat
by
a
great
champion.
So
thank
you
to
the
staff.
Thank
you
Scott
and
everybody
I
really
appreciate
it.
A
C
A
pleasure
to
watch
a
play
golf
just
such
a
tree.
I
made
some
notes
as
I
went
along.
There
were
13
Bart
birdies
in
the
match
today
and
all
my
notes
about
Patrick
have
the
word
putt,
but
I
think
what
stands
out
to
me
in
this
in
the
match
today
was
the
way
you
played
number
14,
both
times
first
time
over
the
green
to
the
left
chip
back
hit,
the
stick
pick
it
up.
First,
second
time
a
flop
shot
from
somewhere
made
a
long,
putt,
two
big
holes.
E
I'd
also
like
to
say
a
couple
words
and
build
off
about
Herbie
said.
Thank
you
again,
sub
mass
golf
not
only
for
providing
another
great
championship
for
144,
so
competitors
to
playing,
but
also
George,
Wright
and
Franklin
Park
I
know
when
I
saw
that
these
two
courses
were
hosting
the
masa
I
thought
it
was
awesome
that
finally,
two
public
courses
could
be
brought
up
to
the
limelight
and
this
course
is
unbelievable.
E
Franklin
Clark
is,
and
the
superintendent's
and
the
grounds
crew
here,
we've
done
a
phenomenal
job,
not
only
to
make
this
the
conditions
great,
but
I'm
how
firm
it's
been
and
how
lush
everything
is.
What
the
heat
is.
Pretty
spectacular,
I
didn't
see
anybody
even
working
on
moving
around
here,
which
is
pretty
pretty
cool,
but
again,
thank
you
to
everybody
is
pretty
cool
to
do.
This
is
my
last
year,
probably
being
in
Amador,
not
only
with
my
family
here,
but
with
also
a
lot
of
my
friends.
A
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
before
we
do
wrap
up
for
the
day,
I
would
like
to
make
one
final
introduction
gentleman
by
the
name
of
Harry.
Mccracken
has
been
a
mainstay
here
at
George
Wright
working
with
the
city
of
Boston.
We
were
able
to
introduce
the
stroke-play
medalist
award
on
Tuesday
afternoon,
which
is
now
named
after
Harry
he's
now
the
executive
secretary
of
the
New
England
Ulf
Association,
the
past
president
of
mass
golf
and
today
is
his
93rd
birthday.
A
And
with
that,
we
would
like
to
welcome
everybody
back
for
the
Women's
Amateur
Championship
in
just
a
few
weeks,
something
we're
very
excited
about
also
the
first
time
we'll
be
hosting
this
Championship
at
a
public
and
municipal
golf
course.
So
another
big
and
exciting
week
ahead
towards
the
end
of
this
month
and
we'd,
also
like
to
welcome
everybody
next
year
for
the
111th
Massachusetts
Amateur
Championship
at
the
Country
Club,
just
a
few
miles
down
the
road.
So
once
again,
congratulations
to
Kirby
Aikens,
our
runner
up,
Patrick
Brodie,
our
2018
Massachusetts
Amateur
Championship.
