Description
For the first time ever, the Massachusetts Amateur Golf Championship is coming to a public course. The good news was shared by City Councilor Tim McCarthy and the Massachusetts Golf Association at the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park which, along with Franklin Park, will see the action in 2018.
A
Well,
thank
you
on
behalf
of
the
Massachusetts
Golf
Association
we'd,
like
to
thank
you
all
for
coming
here
today
to
George
Wright
golf
course
for
what
will
be
a
historic
day
and
surely
a
historic
year
ahead.
My
name
is
Becky
blazer
and
I
have
the
pleasure
of
serving
as
director
of
communications
for
the
Massachusetts
Golf
Association.
A
Before
we
begin
with
today's
program,
I'd
like
to
just
fall
back
in
time
for
just
a
few
minutes,
it
was
actually
an
October
day
back
in
1890,
probably
a
day
similar
to
this,
where
George
Wright
had
a
new
set
of
clubs,
and
he
walked
over
about
three
miles
to
Franklin,
Park
and
just
to
play
a
few
holes.
The
story
goes
that
he
got
a
few
holes
in
before
the
Boston.
Parks
Department
told
him
that
he
had
to
leave
to
go
and
only
to
come
back
with
a
permit.
A
A
Gulf
leaders
soon
took
their
lead
on
March
5th
1900
a
met
on
Commonwealth
Ave
in
Boston
informed.
What
is
now
today
the
women's
Golf
Association
of
Massachusetts
when
they
came
together,
they
put
together
intrasquad
matches,
which
today
is
still
a
staple
a
program
for
them.
They
also
hosted
and
launched
the
inaugural
championship
in
the
fall
of
1900
Oakley
Country
Club
won
grace
Keyes
defeated
Harriette
Curtis.
A
On
that
day,
nearly
three
years
later,
the
men
followed
suit
and
they
organized
their
first
statewide
golf
championship
on
September
of
1903
at
myopia
hung
Club
Arthur
Lockwood
won
that
tournament
with
a
Haskell
rubber
ball.
The
history
of
golf
continues
to
this
day
with
innumerable
stories
of
pioneers
innovators,
visionaries
and
heroes.
Today
marks
a
very
important
milestone.
A
Today,
you
will
hear
from
modern
day
innovators,
whose
leadership
encouraged
led
to
an
incredible
renovation
of
to
city
of
Boston
golf
courses,
visionaries,
who
knew
how
important
was
to
bring
together
the
best
men
and
women
amateurs
and
have
them
compete
and
be
tested
on
two
challenging
and
historic.
Golf
courses
and
heroes
whose
play
on
the
links
is
matched
only
by
their
character
and
leadership
off
the
course
to
get
things
started
today.
I
welcome
our
leader,
Jesse
menachem
executive
director
of
the
Massachusetts
golf
Association.
B
Becky,
thank
you
so
much
good
morning.
Everybody
thank
you
so
much
for
being
here
for
this
momentous
and
celebratory
day
here
in
the
city
of
Boston,
we
have
many
representatives
from
the
city,
many
representatives
from
the
Massachusetts
Golf
Association,
the
women's
golf
Association
of
Massachusetts
and
several
of
our
past
amateur
champions,
both
from
the
Massachusetts
ammeter
and
the
women's
ammeter
and
Presidents
Cup.
We
understand
mayor
Marty.
Walsh
cannot
be
with
us
today,
nor
could
Commissioner
cook,
but
we
do
have
city
councilor,
Tim,
McCarthy,
so
Tim.
B
B
In
addition
to
that,
the
Massachusetts
Golf
Association
and
the
women's
golf
association
are
at
the
doorstep
of
a
historic
merger
combining
two
100-plus
year
organizations
together
to
help
streamline
our
operations
and
services
for
all
member
clubs
and
member
golfers
statewide,
effective,
January
1st
we're
hoping
to
make
golf
more
inclusive
and
accessible
for
all.
As
we
begin
our
new
journey
again
as
one
statewide
golf
organization,
our
partnership
with
the
city
of
Boston
has
been
going
on
for
decades.
B
Most
recently,
we've
held
numerous
qualifying
events
and
championships
for
state
wide
events,
and
in
addition
to
that,
back
in
2015,
we
launched
the
first
tee
of
Massachusetts
Boston
program
at
William.
J
Devine
we've
been
able
to
bring
the
city
youth
to
these
facilities
to
teach
them
the
core
values:
life
skills
of
the
game
of
golf
to
set
them
up
for
their
career
through
school
and
through
life,
Jim,
Tobin
and
marshmallow.
Our
league
coaches
have
done
a
phenomenal
job,
as
have
the
head
professionals
and
their
staff
at
both
facilities.
B
So,
for
the
first
time
in
our
history
of
the
Massachusetts
Golf
Association
and
the
women's
golf
Association
of
Massachusetts
I
am
thrilled
to
announce
in
the
summer
of
2018,
we
are
going
to
bring
the
Massachusetts
Amateur
Championship
and
the
Women's
Amateur
Championship
and
Presidents
Cup
George
Wright
Golf
Course
in
Franklin
Park.
As
noted.
B
This
is
going
to
be
the
first
time
that
both
events
have
been
held
and
run
at
a
true
public
municipal
facility,
a
major
feat
for
both
organizations
and
a
true
testament
to
the
partnership
that
we've
created
with
the
city
of
Boston
for
the
men's
ammeter
or
the
ammeter
championship.
It'll
be
the
hundred
tenth
plane.
B
The
dates
will
be
July
9th
through
13th
round
1
will
be
held
at
Franklin
Park
round,
2
and
match
play
will
be
held
at
George
Wright
and
then
two
weeks
later,
starting
on
July
30th
through
August,
2nd,
the
Women's
Amateur
Championship
and
Presidents
Cup
for
the
hundred
and
15th
time
will
be
played
at
George
Wright,
something
we
are
truly
excited
about.
We're
going
to
hear
a
lot
more
in
just
a
few
minutes.
So
with
that,
we
again
want
to.
B
C
First
off
I'd
like
to
welcome
and
thank
all
of
you
guys
for
attending
on
behalf
of
the
golf
course.
The
golf
pros
kevin
Frawley,
Scott
Allen,
the
golf
superintendents
blend
curtain
in
Russ
Heller
at
both
facilities.
We're
really
honored
to
have
you
guys
here
and
we
are
proud
and
honored
to
be
chosen
as
the
host
of
both
the
women's
and
men's
amateur
golf
tournament.
This
summer,
I
think
it's
something!
That's
been
a
long
time
coming
for
this.
C
These
golf
courses
we're
very
enriched
in
history,
as
both
Becky
and
Jesse
noted
at
both
these
golf
courses,
Franklin
Park,
being
the
second
oldest
golf
Municipal,
Golf
Course
in
the
United
States
George
Wright,
being
a
pioneer
of
golf
in
Massachusetts
in
the
United
States,
and
also
this
golf
course
being
built
during
the
WPA
funding
Administration
back
in
the
1930s
after
the
Great
Recession
I
think
it
shows
that
we
have
a
long
history
here
at
this
golf
course
in
hosting
these.
These
two
tournaments
in
making
new
history
is
something
we're
very
proud
and
honored
to
do.
C
I'm
up
here.
Speaking
on
behalf
of
the
city,
the
Boston
Parks
Department,
Chris
Cook
and
the
mayor
of
the
city
of
Boston,
we
could
not
do
this
without
the
support
of
the
mayor,
the
administration
and
the
Boston
Parks
Department,
and
the
support
that
it
gives
to
public
golf
around
this
city.
It's
it's
a
priority
of
the
city
to
have
public
off
here
we
make
it
a
priority.
The
city's
initiatives
within
the
Boston
parks
department
is
access,
equity
in
excellence.
C
I
think
both
of
our
golf
courses
do
a
great
job
of
recognizing
all
of
these
attributes
within
the
city
of
Boston.
Let
me
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
access
part
of
it.
One
of
our
most
proud
accomplishments
is
something
that
Jesse
touched
upon
a
little
bit
earlier
and
that's
the
first
tee
partnership
we
have
with
the
mga
bringing
that
to
Franklin
Park
a
few
years
ago
in
granting
access
to
all
of
the
youth
Boston
city
of
youth
Boston
across
the
city.
To
this
great
game
of
golf
free
of
charge
has
been
a
great
benefit.
C
Partnership
for
all
of
us
I
think
it's
something
we're
most
proud
of
in
and
I
think
it's
something
that
public
golf
should
be
most
proud
of
and
is
opening
up
the
game
to
the
city,
youth
in
terms
of
equity,
public
golf
opens
up
golf
to
all
socio-economic
statuses,
I
think,
that's
very
abundantly
clear
in
the
history
of
both
George
Wright
in
Franklin
Park,
we
have
a
very
diverse
background
of
golfers.
We've
always
had
a
diverse
background
of
golf
for
us,
and
now
you
know
joining
in
the
celebration
that
Jessie
mentioned
a
partnership.
C
Both
the
women's
and
men's
organizations
together
I
think
it's
a
showcase
that
they
took.
They
chose
our
golf
course
as
a
place
to
kind
of
highlight
that,
because
this
is
what
we've
always
an
about
throughout
an
entire
history.
Here,
Balt
Boston
golf
has
been
a
leader
since
its
obsession
in
inception
in
welcoming
all
golfers
and
then
the
final
piece
is
excellence.
I
think
this
is
a
pinnacle
of
the
excellence
that
we've
tried
to
achieve
here
at
both
golf
courses
over
the
last
10
15
20
years.
C
Since
the
city
took
both
of
these
golf
courses
back,
they
decided
to
run
these
as
a
non-profit.
They
decided
to
run
these
in-house
it's
taking
years
of
renovation
of
these,
both
these
golf
courses
to
bring
them
where
they
are
today,
we've
had
accolades
along
the
way
we've
had
you
know
many
of
the
Gulf
Cup
locations
recognize
us
as
a
place
to
play
with
in
Massachusetts,
then
pinnacle
in
2009
with
George
Wright
was
ranked
the
14th
best
municipal,
and
they
in
that
in
the
country
in
the
best
in
Massachusetts
and
I.
C
Think
today
is
kind
of
the
pinnacle
and
highlight
of
all
the
accomplishments
Eve
coming
up
to
the
state
and
I.
Think
it's
a
it's
a
vision
into
our
future
of
where
we're
going
in
that
you
know.
Championship
golf
course
doesn't
have
to
be
that
pasture
of
golf
that
public
horses
have
been
it's
it's
it's
the
proud,
Golf
Course
that
we
have
out
at
both
facilities
today,.
C
So
to
wrap
this
up,
we
couldn't
be
more
proud.
We
couldn't
be
more
honored.
We
couldn't
be
more
excited
to
host
these
golf
tournaments.
You
know
in
combining
with
the
the
merger
of
both
groups,
I
think
we're
going
to
turn
this
as
a
celebration
of
public
off
we're
gonna
welcome
you
guys
all
out
here
to
view
this
next
next
summer,
but
we
are
truly
gonna
host
this
and
celebrate
public
off,
and
hopefully
we
can
live
up
to
the
expectations
of
both
organizations.
Thank
you
guys
for
coming
today.
I
really
appreciate
it.
D
D
That
goes
without
saying
so,
I'm
very
happy
to
be
here.
I,
don't
know
if
the
city
chatter
covers
dispensation
to
go
play
nine
today,
but
it's
like
55
degrees.
So
you
could
you
know
if
you've
not
blown
into
your
hands
too
many
times
we
could
probably
get
in
a
quick
nine.
Just
just
saying
I
think
I
could
probably
do
that
today.
That
would
be.
That
would
be
nice.
Mayor
Walsh
has
made
a
great
commitment
to
the
courses
here
at
George
Wright
in
Franklin
Park,
and
you
can
see
it.
You
can
reflect
in
it.
D
If
you
have
not
played
here
before,
please
do
if
you
haven't,
played
Franklin
Park.
Please
do
it's
amazing.
When
people
come
walking
up
the
hill
and
see
the
new
clubhouse,
the
new
design,
how
the
roof
has
been
done,
how
the
bricks
have
been
set,
how
the
copper
gutters
shine,
I'm
gonna
date
myself
here,
but
every
time
I
walk
up
the
hill.
D
It
reminds
me
of
the
old
Batman
when
they
say
back
at
stately,
Wayne
Manor
and
you
see
the
brick
bill
and
that's
what
it
reminds
me
of,
and
it's
such
a
gorgeous
place
to
be
we're
also
committing
money
to
redo.
This
very
Hall
dennis
again
has
been
instrumental
in
getting
a
team
together
to
take
a
look
at
maximizing
this
this
hall
and
making
sure
that
this
place.
This
clubhouse
is
a
12
month,
a
year
facility,
a
destination
point
for
people
in
the
summertime.
D
We've
had
our
concerts
out
on
the
on
the
plaza
incredibly
successful
150
200,
plus
people
out
here,
listening
to
acoustic
music
watching
the
golfers
come
in
a
lot
of
pressure
on
the
first
tee
box,
if
you're
teeing
off
at
6:30,
but
it's
a
great
great
venue.
You
know
I
love
coming
here
to
gorge
right
when
you
take
a
look
at
especially
when
you
bring
new
people,
that's
what
I
love
to
really
see,
and
especially,
if
you're
playing
with
some
decent
golfers.
D
You
know
you
get
out
there
on
one
straight
shot,
not
too
hot
greens
a
little
tricky,
nothing
really
to
it
to
make
it
kind
of
short,
powerful
or
nothing
to
it.
Threes,
along
5-4,
uphill.
You
know
the
whole
thing,
then,
all
of
a
sudden
you
get
to
five
and
then
it's
blind
shot
on
five
blind
shot
in
six
seven,
eight,
nine,
ten
11
12
welcome
Donald
Ross
to
your
world
and
it's
a
wonderful
question.
D
It's
a
great
place,
but
I
think
what
makes
this
place
is
the
men
and
women
who
come
and
go
there's
city
folks.
There
people
who
care
you
can
always
tell
a
George
Wright
or
a
Franklin,
Park
golfer,
if
you
play
with
them,
because
generally
they'll
get
on
the
green
they'll
fix
27
pitch
marks
and
mutter
to
themselves
of
how
people
can't
take
time
to
fix
their
pitchers.
But
that's
what
we
produce
here.
We
produce
phenomenal
people
and
I'm
very
proud
of
this
course.
I
always
have
been
I
love
playing
here.
D
I
look
forward
to
playing
here,
I
look
forward
to
next
next
year.
These
both
of
these
tournaments
are
incredible.
Next
year,
hi
Parker
a
hundred
and
fifty
years
old,
so
there's
gonna
be
a
big
celebration
in
High
Park.
This
will
be
part
of
our
celebration
to
celebrate
really
one
of
Boston's,
hidden
secrets,
Franklin
Parkin
and
George
Wright
and
after
the
events
over
we'd
like
to
kind
of
keep
it
a
secret,
because
you
know
we
don't
want
to
be
too
crowded.
But
I
really
want
to
thank
everybody
for
being
here.
D
B
Timid
dentists,
thank
you
so
much
not
only
for
your
commitment,
but
your
support
in
what's
to
come
with
our
celebration
in
2018
I'd
now
like
to
introduce
kevin
eldridge,
our
director
rules
and
competition.
So
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
details
and
operations
of
next
next
year's
championships.
Kevin.
E
All
right,
Thank,
You
Jesse,
thanks
to
everyone
here
for
joining
us
this
afternoon,
as
well
as
to
the
city
of
Boston
and
the
staff
from
both
george
wright
and
franklin
park,
we're
really
looking
forward
to
bringing
our
two
premier
championships
to
the
City
of
Boston
next
year.
That's
really
gonna
allow
for
us
to
to
showcase
the
two
fantastic
golf
courses
that
are
here
in
the
city
of
Boston,
as
Jesse
mentioned
earlier,
the
men's
immature.
E
For
the
first
time
we
played
at
two
different
golf
courses
during
the
course
of
the
event
we'll
see
round
one
or
stroke
play
played
at
William,
J
Devine
on
Monday,
July,
9th
and
then
round
two
stroke
play
in
all
of
match
play
played
here
at
George
Wright,
really
giving
the
144
player
field
first-of-a-kind
experience
in
this
year's
Amateur
Championship.
Both
golf
courses
are
really
going
to
provide
a
unique
set
of
challenges
during
the
during
the
event:
the
open
field,
the
Parkland
Golf
Course
in
Franklin
Park
supervisor
for
some
scoring
opportunities
during
that
first
round.
E
However,
this
won't
come
without
its
own
set
of
challenges,
which
include
that
uphill
demanding
404
yard
par-4
12th
hole
as
well
as
a
set
of
four
par
threes.
That
will
really
require
some
accuracy
off
the
tee
here
at
George.
Wright
players
in
both
championships
will
really
be
presented
with
a
classic
Donald
Ross
design,
testing,
every
part
of
that
players,
game
and
their
course
management
and
their
ability
to
successfully
manage
the
green
complexes
across
the
golf
course
here.
E
Speaking
of
match
play
the
need
for
a
well-rounded
game.
The
ability
to
execute
a
wide
array
of
shots
and
will
provide
for
plenty
of
excitement
here
during
match
play
plenty
of
risk
reward
opportunities
throughout
both
events,
however,
before
making
it
to
match,
play
the
championship
field
of
144
for
the
2
throat
plate
rounds
of
the
men's
Amateur
will
take
shape
during
the
month
of
June.
During
that
time
we
will
hold
10
sectional
qualifiers
throughout
the
state
total
of
about
700
plus
entries
are
expected
for
the
men's
championship,
which
will
also
consists
of
35
exempt
players.
E
E
36
hold
match
on
that
Friday
July
13th,
the
field
for
the
woman's
Amateur
Championship
and
Presidents
Cup
will
be
made
up
of
approximately
hundred
of
the
best
golfers
from
across
the
state
who,
just
two
weeks
later
after
the
men's
Amateur
champion
is
crowned,
will
compete
in
their
one
round
of
stroke
play
here.
George
Wright
on
July
30th,
the
low
64
scores
from
that
field
will
be
separated
into
two
brackets
of
32,
pending
their
qualifying
score
to
compete
in
match
play
over
the
course
of
the
next
three
days.
E
To
crown
the
2018
woman's
Emirates
champion
and
the
2018
Presidents
Cup
champion,
it's
being
said,
I'm
now
happy
to
welcome
and
introduce
some
of
our
past
champions,
who
are
here
with
us
today.
First
year
to
my
right,
we
have
mark
Matt,
parsy
Ally,
the
reigning
massa
a.m.
champion
and
u.s.
midair
champion
from
thorny
league
all
Club.
A
Thank
you
Kevin,
as
he
as
he
noted,
we're
very
fortunate
to
have
a
total
of
nine
State
Amateur
champions
here.
Titles
represented
here
at
this
one
table
and
I
can
tell
you,
as
someone
who's
been
fortunate
enough
to
speak
to
many
of
these
folks
after
their
victories
and
after
their
good
in
their
bad
days.
These
are
true
champions
and
their
experiences
really
shed
light
on
the
exceptional
play
that
you
need
to
bring
to
each
state
ammeter
and
the
character
that
you
have
to
have
to
to
be
the
final
one
on
that
day.
A
So
I'd
like
to
start
today
with
Steve
Tasha,
who
was
the
first
of
all
these
folks
to
win,
and
you
have
not
only
won
two
state
amateurs,
but
it's
important
to
note
I
think
you've
won
over
25
individual
titles
in
your
career,
which
has
been
exceptional
and
you
as
a
champion.
You
have
played
this
game
in
this
area
for
a
long
time,
can
you
speak
to
the
importance
of
the
state
ammeter
and
what
it
means
to
you
as
players,
to
have
the
opportunity
to
compete
at
such
a
high
level.
F
A
F
A
And
Steve
John,
just
like
Steve
you've
won.
You
won
this
in
2008
and
2010
at
two
different
golf
courses
and
I
have
to
note
that
both
of
them
now
we
see
them
in
our
father-son
father-daughter
Championships,
which
I
think
speaks
to
golf,
bringing
together
families
as
well.
But
John
can
you
reflect
on
your
two
victories
and
what
Golf
has
meant
to
you,
both
as
an
individual
and
now
as
a
father.
A
Right
and
Frank
Frank
just
returned
home
with
Matt
and
Shannon
doing
so
well,
Frank
also
advanced
to
the
semi-finals
of
the
u.s.
Senior
Amateur
Championship,
so
we've
had
probably
I
can't
remember
a
year
of
golf
with
so
many
exceptional
champions,
but
Frank
you
have
played
this
event.
You
were
the
one
the
last
one
to
win
it
back
to
back
talk
about
how
challenging
this
championship
is
and
how
excited
you
are
to
play
these
courses
as
I
know,
you've
been
able
to
play
here
in
recent
tournaments.
G
A
That
you
just
came
off
probably
a
whirlwind.
Few
few
weeks,
Matt
one-hour
ammeter
championship
earlier
in
the
summer
went
on
to
win
the
that
we
met
and
then,
of
course,
as
we
all
know,
we
watched
him
capture
a
national
championship
with
the
u.s.
mini
amateur,
where
you
were
down
in
one
match,
talked
about
the
highs
and
lows
battled
back
into
win.
Now
we
Massachusetts
now
has
a
female
and
a
male
championship
for
the
u.s.
midium
international
title.
So
Matt
talk
about
the
emotion
of
this
summer.
H
H
A
You
mentioned
pan
Pam
had
another
exceptional
year.
She
always
does
she
one
and
oh
eight
in
2010
and
actually
just
returned
home
from
competing
at
the
u.s.
women's
MIDI
amateur
championships.
So
Pam
I
have
to
ask
you
as
a
past
champion
female.
What
does
it
mean
for
the
women
to
be
able
to
compete
at
the
same
course
as
the
men's
this
year
and
how
significant
it
is
and
for
the
women
in
2018.
I
I
A
I
can
tell
you
in
the
men's
side
one
person
who
doesn't
need
an
advantage,
but
probably
has
one
is
our
last
speaker
here
who
then
spits
if
anyone
got
to
Pine
Hills
I
had
the
pleasure
of
walking
with
him
when
he
captured
that
title
and
a
playoff
and
and
talk
about
adversity
and
the
mental
toughness
on
this
final
regulation
hole
found.
The
water
on
the
left
came
back.
A
You
know
within
a
half-hour
and
captured
his
victory
and
Ben
is
not
only
a
past
champion
of
this
event,
but
he
also
is
a
member
here
at
George
Wright
and
has
a
unique
perspective.
Then
talk
about
your
experiences
here
at
George
Wright
and
in
your
emotions
and
excitement.
When
you
heard
that
you
would
be
battling
for
this
title
on
your
ear
links.
J
A
I'm
gonna
put
you
all
on
the
spot
quickly
and
I'll.
Give
you
a
couple
minutes
to
think
about
it,
but
I
think
you've
all
had
a
chance
to
play
this
course,
but
maybe
talk
about
the
in
both
courses
actually
of
your
favorite
part
or
the
biggest
challenge
you'll
see
in
plane
that
type
of
tournament
here
so
I'll
start
with
John
over
there
and
move
around.
G
I
A
H
B
Becky,
thank
you
again
and
really
to
close
out
what
is
a
celebration.
It
will
be
a
celebration
through
2018.
This
is
the
first
formal
opportunity
we've
had
to
be
with
Matt,
as
it's
known
he's
been
a
pretty
busy
man
these
last
couple
of
weeks,
since
he
he
was
crowned
the
37th
US
mid
Amateur
champion
as
Becky
noted
and
and
others.
Today,
Matt
really
had
a
tremendous
and
historic
year
of
Massachusetts
golf
going
down
to
Atlanta
the
capital
city
club
to
take
down
this
championship.
B
He
had
his
father
Vick
on
the
bag
and
we
all
know
Matt
and
vicar
are
at
the
Brockton
fire
department,
but
their
relationship
has
morphed
on
the
golf
course
and
they've
become
really
a
championship
team
that
is
tough
to
beat
I'd
like
to
rally
off
just
a
few
of
the
stats
from
from
Matt's
championship
win
after
36
holes
of
stroke
play
Matt
finished
at
a
score
of
-2
in
9th
place
for
the
round
of
64.
He
won
that
match
one
up
in
the
round
of
32.
B
He
won
that
match
in
19
holes
in
the
round
of
16.
He
won
that
match
at
2
up
and
then
we
get
to
the
quarterfinal
match
I'll.
Let
you
decide
where
the
momentum
went
here
in
20
holes,
Matt
won
this
match
and
he
was
5
down
through
10
holes,
pretty
remarkable,
then
in
the
semi-final
match,
Matt
won
five
and
four
and
finally
took
the
final
match:
the
36-hole
at
eight
and
six,
an
absolutely
tremendous
accomplishment
for
that
36
hole
day.
Matt
had
many
familiar
faces
in
Atlanta
with
him.
B
Several
of
his
friends
and
family
flew
down,
including
including
his
fiancee
Ally,
which
must
have
been
tremendously
special
and
now
with
this
win.
Matt
is
fully
exempt
into
the
2018,
the
United
States
Open
Championship,
which
actually
is
a
brand-new
exemption
that
was
announced
at
the
players
dinner
at
the
Mid
M.
In
addition
to
that,
he
has
an
exemption
into
the
US
Amateur
at
Pebble
Beach,
a
ten-year
mid,
Amateur,
Championship
exemption
and,
last
but
not
least,
a
likely
invitation
to
the
Masters.
B
This
really
does
cap
off
one
of
the
best
competitive
seasons
in
math
golf
history,
as
we
know
several
regional
event
championships
that
we
met
Memorial
and
finally,
Matt
shattered
to
Richard
D
Haskell
Player
of
the
Year
points,
with
a
total
of
1600
and
three
points
to
cap
off
the
2017
season,
so
Matt
on
behalf
of
the
of
Massachusetts
golf,
the
entire
community.
We
like
to
present
this
to
you,
a
state
and
national
winning
season
for
the
ages.
H
H
All
these
guys
and
Steve
son
actually
flew
down
for
the
final,
and
it
was
so
great
seeing
friends
from
thorny
Lee
people
I
compete
with
here
in
the
state
coming
down
at
different
times
during
the
day,
I
told
him
they
were
all
crazy,
but
it
made
it
that
much
more
special
when
I
was
able
to
win.
This
is
a
very
exciting
year.
He
had
george
wright
franklin,
I'm
looking
forward
to
competing
and
trying
to
defend
my
title
at
the
state
am
and
looking
forward
for
what's
to
come.
Thank
you.
B
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
that
does
conclude
today's
announcements.
We
welcome
you
to
stick
around
and
enjoy
some
food
and
beverage
and
then
for
those
that
would
like
to
play
some
golf
this
afternoon.
It
is
a
beautiful
day,
please
fee
for
you.
There
check
check
in
with
us
and
check
in
with
the
golf
shop,
but
we
wish
you
all
a
great
and
enjoyable
holiday
season
and
we
look
forward
to
celebrating
many
of
these
champions
in
addition
to
our
remaining
champions
at
the
Massachusetts
champions
dinner
on
Thursday
January
4th
at
Wellesley.
