B
Yeah
good
evening,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
we
are
very
excited
here.
We
have
a
couple
of
presentations,
we'd
like
to
begin
with.
Our
I
see
that
they
were
here,
but
then
they
walked
outside
Wayne
Jose.
Thank
you
so
much.
We
actually
have
a
group
that
was
formed
just
two
years
ago
and
it
was
formed
by
a
former
student
Perkins.
Actually
graduated
a
number
of
years
ago,
I
was
principal
of
the
high
school
when
he
was
here.
B
He
went
on
to
college
where
he
did
a
dance
team
at
college
and
wanted
to
bring
it
back
to
the
high
school
and
he's
actually
been
he's
just
an
incredibly
talented
young
man.
He
and
a
few
other
alumni
have
actually
been
teaching
kids
on
their
own
in
the
afternoons
and
net
and
they
began
competing
last
year.
This
is
only
their
second
year.
They've
actually
won
a
number
of
awards.
B
They've
actually
hosted
their
own
step
program
a
few
weeks
back
and
they
actually
bought
in
lots
of
teams
from
across
New
York
state.
It
was
pretty
exciting,
so
we
are
excited
to
introduce
them
to
the
community
this
evening,
so
I
I
thought
Mr
gessig
was
going
to
be
here.
I
I
spoke
to
him
earlier,
Dr
dooling
I
didn't
say:
is
he
here
he's
walking
in
okay?
He
actually
is
serving
dual
role
tonight
right
because
he's
also
we
have.
The
second
presentation
is
a
surprise.
B
C
Know
we
prepped
so
we're
actually
kind
of
waiting
for
Mr.
B
Gessie
because
he's
he's
going
to
introduce
the
team.
C
We're
kind
of
waiting
for
you
and
it's
working
so
Mr,
gessig
I
did
this
wonderful.
Intro
turned
it
over
and
you
weren't
here.
Oh.
B
E
The
last
two
years,
Perkins
ultimate
and
Ashley,
Houston
to
Brentwood
alumni,
approached
the
Brentwood
High
School
last
year
about
starting
its
first
ever
step
team,
something
they
advertise.
As
everybody
can
step,
it
was
open
to
all
students.
They
have
students
quickly
learned.
It
is
a
dedicated
practice.
E
This
Saturday
they
have
another
competition
in
April.
They
are,
you
can't
miss
them.
They
are
at
the
Ross
Auditorium
practicing
two
to
three
times
a
week,
and
it
goes
a
little
something
like
this,
but
they're
gonna.
Do
it
much
better
than
I
can
Americans?
Where
are
you
come
on
over
Mrs
Perkins
Ashley
come
on
over
here,
no
way,
all
right,
all
right,
fine.
F
E
E
You
for
the
chance
they
really
they
represent
Brentwood,
so
well,
every
time
everywhere,
we've
gone.
We
get
complimented
and
also
I,
wanted
to
add
that
the
competition
we
hosted
right.
We
got
the
feedback
that
we
received.
It
was
one
of
the
best
organized
events
that
the
the
schools
had
ever
been
to.
So
thank
you
very
much.
Thank
you.
A
A
B
Okay,
we
actually
are
going
to
take
the
time
out
this
evening
to
honor
an
incredible
incredible,
Community
member
and
an
administrator
here
in
the
school
district,
so
who
should
I
honor?
That
is
probably
one
of
the
most
dedicated
people
to
this
school
Community
ever
who
has
given
their
heart
and
soul
from
early
early
morning
to
late
late
night
has
been
involved
with
different
organizations,
has
traveled
Upstate
to
Syracuse
more
times
than
I
can
count,
as
here
on
the
weekends.
B
To
give
you
an
example,
probably
this
morning,
I
think
we
had
one
of
the
most
incredible
send-offs
for
our
our
Long
Island
Championship
boys,
basketball,
team
and
I
heard
early
this
morning.
This
outstanding
person
just
to
illustrate
the
type
of
person
she
is.
She
was
out
decorating
the
hallways
prior
to
the
beginning
of
school
Not.
A
C
B
Getting
a
few
Clues,
probably
the
nicest
and
kindest
actually
now
I'm
gonna
cry,
but
probably
the
nicest
and
kindest
person
and
the
most
loving
person
of
our
kids
and
Community.
So
it
is
my
distinct
honor
now
I'm
not
actually
going
to
say
who
it
is:
okay,.
C
We
are
actually
okay.
Let
me
just
do
a
trivia
two
kids.
B
G
So
this
person
said
person
came
by
my
office
today
and
she
sits
down
and
we're
talking
about
the
building
related
things
and
she
said
so.
What
are
you
doing
this
evening?
I
said
you
know,
the
regular
stuff
is
Thursday,
it
may
go
by
the
board
meeting
and
she
said
so.
What
what
are
they
going
to
be
talking
about
there
I
said
I
I,
don't
know
I
said.
Is
there
anything
else?
Do
you
need
right
now,
because
there
are
other
things
that
I
need
to
take
care
of.
G
She
probably
won't.
Let
me
let
this
down
and
if
we
actually
told
her
where
she
was
going
this
evening,
she
wouldn't
have
gotten
in
the
car.
Thank
you.
Mr
gesick
Judy
Crawford
began
her
career
in
the
Brentwood
School
District
in
1993.
as
a
school
counselor
in
the
Freshman
Center,
where
she
later
became
an
assistant
principal
following.
She
then
ventured
over
to
the
realm
of
guidance
Administration,
but
quickly
determine
the
role
of
a
building.
Administrator
was
really
where
her
heart
lied
over
her
career.
She
has
mentored
more
students
than
anyone
can
count.
G
Students
go
to
Miss
Crawford
when
they
need
a
pick-me-up
when
they're
struggling
with
something
that's
too
hard
to
manage
alone
or
simply
just
to
say
good
morning,
because
she
is
often
the
first
face
they
see
as
they
enter
the
building.
I
have
even
overheard
teachers
say
if
Miss
Crawford
is
going
to
be
there
I'm
more
than
comfortable
taking
a
tough
meeting.
G
G
Miss
Crawford,
you
know,
students
always
try
to
you
know,
do
something
and
then
say
that
someone
gave
them
permission
to
do
that
when
they
know
that
they
shouldn't
so
one
day
a
young
man
in
the
hallway
I
stopped
him
for
something
that
he
shouldn't
be
doing,
and
he
said
not
have
permission.
I
got
permission.
I
did
I
get
from
from
the
other.
Lady
and
I
said
what
other
lady
are
you
talking
about?
He
said
the
little
one.
G
So
ever
since
then,
you
know
I
chuckle
when
I
think
about
how
she's
called
the
little
one
and
in
the
high
school,
where
the
kids
Tower
over
her
many
of
them.
You
still
hear
Miss
Crawford
as
a
force
in
our
hallway.
She
moves
kids
along.
She
addresses
what
needs
to
be
addressed
in
the
hallway
she's,
not
afraid
to
have
those
hard
conversations
with
kids,
she's,
not
afraid
to
almost
pull
them
by
the
ears
into
her
office.
To
let
them
know
that
we
have
standards
here
and
there
are
expectations
that
she
needs
them
to
follow.
G
G
H
With
us
so
I
have
to
say
that
I
suspected
that
something
was
going
on
today,
but
I
do
whatever
I'm
asked
to
do
and
when
Dr
Doolin
asked
she
said
last
week,
are
you
going
to
be
available?
You
know
and
I
said
whatever
you
need
and
that's
been
my
role
for
the
district.
Whatever
you've
needed
me
to
do,
I've
you
know
done
it,
and
so
I
just
want
to
thank
the
board.
H
H
So
what
are
you
gonna
do
and
I'm
like
I'm,
just
gonna
hang
out
by
my
pool
for
a
few
months,
but
if
you
need
me,
there
I'll
be
and
I
thank
the
Brentwood
School
District
from
day
one
for
all
that
you've
done
to
me
for
me
and
I
love,
you
all
and
thank
you
very
much.
A
Okay,
so
without
further
Ado
Miss
Judy
as
I
always
call
her
certificate
of
recognition.
This
certificate
is
awarded
to
Judy
Crawford,
in
recognition
of
your
three
decades
of
service
to
the
Brentwood
Community
and
your
vital
role
in
building
confidence,
empowerment
and
self-esteem
in
the
young
women
of
our
schools.
Congratulations.
Thank
you.
D
J
Hi
everyone
I'm
not
sure
how
to
top
all
that,
but
I
should
I'll
try
Jose
said
just
said
to
say:
hi
to
everyone
he's
sorry
he
couldn't
make
it
tonight.
A
B
J
I
just
like
to
start
by
talking
about
a
new
program
that
will
be
introduced
to
the
high
school
next
year,
the
business,
the
business
Enterprise
program,
where
students
will
learn
to
build
their
own
business
and
practice
Real
World
ex
real
world
real
world
experiences
within
business
and
finance
within
the
business
program.
They
will
compete
at
the
the
trade-off
with
other
students
and
other
schools.
J
Not
only
will
this
allow
them
to
build
their
skills,
but
also
get
practice
in
as
many
of
them
look
to
either
major
in
business
or
in
finance
in
the
future.
J
I'd
also
like
to
talk
about
this
year's
annual
anti-bullying
fashion
show,
which
Mr,
lochner
and
Miss
Ortiz
looked
very
wonderful
in.
J
J
The
alumni
shared
very
personal
stories
with
the
audience
and
student
body
and
at
the
end
I,
could
feel
that
growing
connection
within
the
community.
So
I
just
want
to
thank
everyone
who
can
make
that
night
possible.
It
was
really
one
I'll
remember,
as
well
as
everyone
else,
I'm
sure.
J
I'd
also
like
to
recognize
the
DECA
team
at
the
high
school
just
this
past
week,
they
competed
at
Rochester
the
entire
Deca
team
placed
within
the
top
50
in
the
competition
with
Brian
Delgado
coming
in
the
top
10
no
coming
in
10th
place
for
his
role
play
and
Seventh
Place.
Overall.
A
B
Yes,
I
think
you
know
I
think
the
community
knows
that
we
were
exploring
there
were.
There
were
two
options,
the
first
option
being
that
you
would
keep
the
mascot
or
the
the
logo.
If
you
actually
spoke
to
a
local
tribe,
in
this
case
the
shinnecocks,
and
we
actually
did
contact
the
Shinnecock
tribe
out
east.
They
actually
I'd
spoken
to
them
a
number
of
times
and
they
did
Express
to
us
that
they
actually
do
find
the
word
Indian
offensive
and
would
not
be
in
support
of
us
maintaining
that
name.
So
that
was
the
first.
B
We
did
explore
that
because
we
did
want
to
go
out
to
the
community.
I
know
the
Board
of
Education
felt
strongly
about
this.
We
did
want
to
go
to
the
community,
particularly
the
alumni,
and
our
current.
You
know,
students
to
say
that
we
explored
that
particular
option.
Now
they're
the
only
federally
recognized
tribe
on
Long
Island.
There
are
actually
a
called
smaller
tribes,
but
they're
not
actually
federally
recognized.
So
it
really
would
only
be
the
Shinnecock
Indians
that
actually
would
Shinnecock
tribe,
I
shouldn't
even
say
Shinnecock
Indians.
That
actually
could
sponsor
us.
B
So
we're
going
to
do
this
completely
student
and
driven
student
and
Community
Driven
will
ask
for
some
recommendations,
we'll
get
them
back,
we'll
compile,
probably
the
top
five
or
top
10,
whatever
we
choose
and
we'll
send
that
out
to
the
school
Community
for
a
survey
and
then
we'll
collect
the
the
results
and
we'll
share
that
with
the
school
community
and
really
buy.
We
have
till
June
to
the
end
of
June,
but
really
you
have
some
more
time.
I've
spoken
to
the
state.
B
J
Yes,
we've
had
multiple
meetings
within
different
student
body
organizations
with
including
student
council
senior
class
and
the
principal's
Council.
So
at
a
recent
meeting
we
did
speak
about
a
few
options.
I
know,
Rachel
is
very
adamant
about
the
snapping
turtles,
while
personally
I
believe
Brentwood
bears
would
be
a
great
option.
So
you
know
if
you
see
that
on
the
ballot
guys
Brentwood
bears.
A
J
I
believe
it
will
work
through
Miss,
Lewis
and
Dr
Doolin
to
conduct
a
school-wide
survey.
So
all
students
have
an
opportunity
to
express
recommendations
and
then
I
feel
like
as
Mr
solution
said,
we'll
compile
the
ones
that
are
most
voted
on
and
then
shorten
the
list
from
there.
B
All
right,
yeah,
no
I,
I
and
I
really
appreciate
you
bringing
that
up.
I
know
the
board,
you
know
has
been
anxious
about
this
as
well,
but
we
really
felt
you
know
we
should
go
through
the
steps,
rather
than
just
rush
into
it
and
I
think
it's
important
to
know
that
our
history
will
always
be
Brentwood
Indians
for
many.
Obviously,
players
who've
played
I'm
talking
to
sports
now,
but
obviously
all
alumni
feel
strongly
about
the
word.
B
Indians
Brentwood,
Indians
I,
think
that
will
always
be
part
of
our
history
and
I
did
make
it
clear
to
the
shinnecocks
that
it
was
never
meant
to
obviously
insult.
It
was
only
meant
to
really
honor
the
the
Indians
I
believe
that
I
was
not
around.
Obviously
I,
don't
think
any
of
us
are
around
in
the
in
the
early
days
of
this,
this
school
Community
who
decided
on
Brentwood
Indians
but
I,
am
certain
because
I
know
the
Brentwood
Community
that
it
was
only
meant.
B
B
However,
they
come
back
to
us
they're,
the
Long,
Island
Championship
championship
team
right
now
it
will
always
be
a
long
island
championship
and
hopefully
the
New
York
state
champions
as
well,
and
that's
the
way
we
have
to
look
at
this
history
that
hour-long
and
storied
history
will
always
be
Brentwood
and
the
name
may
change
a
little
bit.
It's
going
to
rub
some
people
the
wrong
way.
I
know
it's
going
to
bother
some
people,
but
I
think
we're
going
to
get
through
this
together,
because
we
do
have
a
great
history
here.
B
We
have
a
tremendous
history
in
monahil,
you
just
you
know
we're
semi-finalists
in
the
regeneron.
Could
we
give
heart?
We
have
a
large
audience
here.
B
You
know
manage
Hill
is
one
of
the
the
kindest
people,
but
incredibly
bright
and
she's,
also
extremely
humble,
and
we
have
a
larger
audience
here.
So
I
wanted
to
say
that,
but
you
you
know
you,
you
won
that
as
a
Brentwood
India
and
that
will
never
be
removed
from
us.
You
know
no
matter
what
our
name
is.
It's
only
a
name,
but
our
history
will
always
be
alive
and.
A
Juke
and
Julie,
Burgos
and
I
were
speaking
about
this
last
night
about
how
we
can
still
kind
of
honor
the
legacy
of
the
Brentwood
Indian
logo
and
so
we're
you
know
we're
repairing
the
schoolhouse,
we're
renovating
it
we're
in
the
process
of
that.
So
there
will
be
some
memorabilia
there
to
to
pay
homage
to
our
our
Legacy
and
also
maybe
we'll
put
something
somewhere
in
one
of
the
buildings,
maybe
specifically
here
in
the
administration
building,
maybe
a
wall
to
kind
of
commemorate
our
paths.
Yeah.
F
K
J
Yes,
I
feel,
like
that's
really
important,
to
remember
the
past,
but
I
also
feel
like
it's
really
important
to
acknowledge
like
times
have
changed,
and
it's
also
really
important
to
remember
that
we
have
to
include
everyone
in
a
way.
That's
not
offensive
and
I
feel
like
it's
really
really
good
that
we
reached
out
to
them
and
spoke
to
them
and
got
their
opinion
on
it.
J
I'm
sure
many
of
the
students
would
agree
with
how
they
expressed

B
Good
evening
again,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
it
is
my
pleasure,
as
has
been
accustomed
to
go
over
happy
happenings.
Managill
obviously
did
a
terrific
job
in
as
a

mentioning
a
number
of
things
that
are
occurring
at
the
high
school
but
I'm
going
to
try
to
just
touch
on
a
few
across
the
district,
as
I
mentioned
in
a
message
that
went
out
this
evening,
tomorrow
is
superintendent's
conference
day.
B
Our
administrators
and
teaching
staff
will
be
working
diligently
behind
the
scenes,
collaborating
with
their
colleagues
to
plan
Dynamic
professional
learning,
experiences
on
topics
related
to
curriculum
instruction
assessments
and
mental
health,
all
of
our
teachers
and
support
staff.
Many
of
our
support
staff
will
be
involved
in
the
superintendent's
conference
day.
I
want
to
thank
all
of
the
presenters
in
advance
on
this
day,
which
usually
takes
place
in
March,
is
run
by
many
of
our
teachers
and
administrators
will
be
presenting
to
their
call
league.
B
There
are
also
several
other
schools
that
participate
in
that
wood
Nation

to

this
weekend
this
this
morning
we
had
an
incredible
send-off.
It
was
really
quite
an
uplifting
event.
Really
the
high
school,
which
many
of
the
administrators
here
did
a
wonderful
job,
organizing
that
today
they
are
already
up
there
at
Glen
Falls.
They
will
be
competing
tomorrow
at
2

If
many
people
in
this
room
that
are
making
the
trip
up.
Let's
wish
them
good
luck.
Also!
Let's
wish
everybody.
B
You
know
safe
travels
as
they
travel
up
to
Glen
Falls
tomorrow.
I
think
this
team
I
want
to
thank
coach
Jimenez
and
the
entire
coaching
staff,
I
I,
think
it's
probably
been
one
of
the
best
seasons
we've
ever
had
here
in
Brentwood
in
a
long
long
time,
just
a
terrific
coaching
job
and
our
students
are
just
incredible
basketball
players,
but
wonderful,
wonderful,
kids.
They
are
such
gentlemen
I'm,
so
proud
of
them
and
I
know
they're
going
to
go
up
there
and
whether
they
win
or
lose
it
really
doesn't
matter.
B
They're
going
to
represent
Brentwood
better
than
we
could
possibly
hope
for,
and
I
I
want
to
say
real
quickly
too,
that
what's
really
remarkable
about
this
team
they've
made
their
way
through
the
playoffs
and
three
out
of
the
four
teams.
They've
beaten
really
beat
us
during
the
season.
Pretty
handily
and
many
people
thought
that
we
would
not
even
make
it
after
make
it
in
the
first
game
of
the
playoffs
and
I.

B
Yes,
I
mean
and
Julie
Burgos,
besides
being
a
a
wonderful
educator
here
in
the
district
for
lots
of
years,
has
now
been
just
an
outstanding

graced
the

with
an
inspirational

about
strong
the
strong
women
in

For
her
own
inspiration,
several
members
of
the

were
honored
for
their
commitment
to
the
empowerment
of
women.

only
can

this
because
I
was

It
was
an

I
did
I
heard
it
was
just
a
terrific

It
was
also

yesterday
for

The

continues
to
be
grateful
to
miss

and
her
staff
for
their
commitment
to
the
children
in
our
community.
They
go
above
and
beyond
to
each
child
and
family
and
give
them
what
they
need.
Shepherd's

has
been
just
an
outstanding
Community

It
was
a
wonderful
event.
Our
board
trustees
were
there.
B
It
was
just
really
a
terrific
and
Miss
Torres
and
you
know,
as
I
said,
their
staff
has
done
amazing
work
for
our
kids
before
school
after
school

you
name
it.
She
has
really
impacted
thousands
and
thousands
of
kids
and
we're
very
grateful
for
that.

you
to

The

needs
your

We
have
the

and
time
is
running

Please

So
that's
a
huge

us

the

goes

So
if
lots
of
people
can

more
people
can
get
involved.

That
would
be
wonderful
and
the

is
also

on

at

and
I
want
to
thank
Miss
Felix.
She
actually
started
this.
A
number
of
years
ago,
along
with
the
board
trustees,
it's
really
been
a
fabulous
event.
We've
stopped
it,
unfortunately,
because
of
covid,
but
we
started
it
up
again.
This
year
and
there'd
be
many
there'll
be
organizations
there.
K
F
A
And
I
wanted
to
make
mention
of
March's
women's
history
month
and
wanted
to
take
this
opportunity,
on
behalf
of
the
Board
of
Education,
to
acknowledge
all
of
the
women
in
our
community
and
districts
who
make
history
in
their
own
way,
whether
it's
in
their
families
in
their
careers.
We
acknowledge
you,
we
see
you
and
we
are
men.
A
A
L
My
suggestion
is
Brentwood
Jaguars.
L
Good
evening
board
good
evening,
superintendent
I'm
here
this
evening
to
inquire
as
to
the
status
of
the
return
of
the
driver's
education
program
to
the
Brentwood
High
School,
a
program
that
includes
not
only
classroom
learning
but
drivers
program.
Also,
the
school
district,
if
it
wants
to
continue
to
improve,
must
permit
the
students
to
take
this
program
to
save
themselves,
money
and
finances
by
not
having
to
pay
exorbitant
rates
or
sums
to
private
teachers.
I
just
wanted
to
ask
if
there's
any
word.
L
B
Actually,
we're
there's
a
few
phases,
we're
starting
phase
one,
hopefully
late
summer,
next
fall
and
that
will
actually
take
the
girls
soccer
field
that
will
be
converted
to
a
side
that
will
be
a
turf
soccer
field
with
a
stadium,
so
we're
actually
starting
there
miss
Fritz
and
then
we're.
The
second
phase
will
be
the
actual
football
field.
L
Okay,
well,
why
do
I
ask
I'm
here
to
ask
at
the
Brentwood,
School
Board
and
the
superintendent
consider
having
the
football
field
named
for
five
years
to
a
contributor
to
the
Brentwood
scholarship
program?
Let's
assume
that
the
school
spends
hundreds
of
thousands
of
dollars
to
fund
this
Construction.
L
Well,
just
like
the
Long
Island
Ducks
have
a
sponsor
for
their
Stadium.
Now
it's
the
the!
What
do
you
call
the
the
individuals
on
a
lot
of
Apartments
Fairfield
Apartments?
Well,
just
such
as
the
ducks
have
Fairfield
Apartments
Brunswick
could
easily
sell
the
rights
to
a
donor
for
approximately
twenty
five
thousand
dollars
per
year
for
five
years
to
a
donor.
It
was,
would
raise
money
for
scholarships
or
for
whatever
reason,
which
would
be
useful
to
the
Brentwood
schools.
Then,
five
years
later,
another
donor
could
do
the
same
for
the
next
five
years.
L
The
money
could
here
again
be
used
for
whatever
program
we
see
fit,
I'm
sure
that
Suffolk
bus
would
be
happy
to
donate
to
the
cause
it
receives
over
25
million
dollars
a
year
to
transport.
Our
students
I'm
also
sure
that
Bravo,
Foods
or
Compare
Foods
would
consider
be
more
than
happy
to
pay
for
the
name
on
the
mantle
at
the
stadium.
It's
certainly
worthwhile
it.
It's
a
rather
novel
approach
to
raising
money
and
I
think
that
Brentwood
should
be
the
Forefront.
L
B
Thank
you,
Mr
Fritz,
okay,
so
yeah
we've
done
quite
a
bit
of
research
into
the
driver's
ed
program
and
you
we
are.
You
know,
speaking
to
the
board,
we've
made
a
few
presentations
to
the
board
about
that.
Miss
O'connor
has
called
several
districts.
I've
called
several
several
districts
that
have
driver's
ed.
It
seems
to
be
and
I
think
actually
last
month
at
a
public
hearing,
I,
don't
know
if
you
were
here:
Mr,
Fritz,
I,
actually
yeah
I
actually
spoke
about.
B
You
know
where
we
were
in
terms
of
driver's
ed,
so
I'll
just
give
a
quick.
You
know
a
little
recap,
but
basically
what
other
schools
are
doing
is
they
are
they
had
the
ones
that
have
it
not
many
have
it,
but
but
some
that
still
do
what
they
have
is
they
have
a
classroom
teacher
who
is
a
Brentwood
employee?
B
Who
would
do
the
classroom,
hours
and
I
believe
you
need
28
classroom
hours,
okay,
so
a
teacher
paid
by
the
school
district
would
do
that
during
the
in
the
morning
and
then
you'd
have
an
afternoon
session
and
you'd
probably
do
it
in
the
fall,
and
then
you
do
it
again
in
the
spring,
so
it'll
be
two
sessions,
then
what
you?
You
have
no
schools
that
we
could
find
Miss,
O'connor
and
myself
no
schools
that
we
could
find
actually
own
the
cars
I.
Think
in
many
many
years
ago
the
school
districts
used
to
own
the
cars.
B
Now,
what
they're
doing
is
they
sub
it
out
to
a
a
driving
school?
So
the
driving
portion
is
then
done
by
a
driving
school,
and
so
what
we
have
to
do
as
a
district,
we
have
to
determine
the
board
will
have
to
approve
whether
we
move
forward
with
finding
a
certified
teacher.
Currently
none
of
our
teachers,
almost
you
know,
1400
to
1500
teachers.
No
one
is
actually
certified
in
driver's
ed.
That
actually
is
a
separate
certification.
Much
like
science
and
and
math.
So
we'd
have
to
get
a
certified
teacher
to
do
that.
B
We'd
have
to
get
approval
by
the
Board
of
Education.
I
will
tell
you
this
Mr
Fritz,
every
other
school
district,
actually
charges
money
to
the
parents
for
because,
as
I
said,
you
know
for
drivers
ed
and
that
varies
that
varied
anywhere
from
400
to
650
and
the
reason
being
is
because
you're
now
paying
an
outside
company
for
their
services
to
use
the
car.
So
it's
still
I
think
it's
you
know,
we've
had
lots
of
conversations
about
it.
I
think
it's
a
valuable
I
think
it's
a
valuable
offering
by
the
district.
B
If
they
approve
it,
then
we'll
move
forward
with
it,
but
it
will
still
cost
the
you
know
the
parents
some
money
to
offset
the
cost
of
an
outside
Driving
School.
Okay.
So
that's
where
we
are
with
that.
I
will
speak
to
the
board.
I
know
you
know
I
have
to.
We
have
to
speak
to
the
attorney
in
terms
about
the
the
donors.
I
know.
Miss
Gomez
was
shaking
her
head.
B
There
are,
there,
are,
you
know,
limits
as
to
how
we
can
raise
money,
but
what
you
brought
up
is
something
that
I
should
talk
to
Miss
Gomez
about
unless
you're
you're
ready
to
speak
publicly,
we
should
talk
yeah
yeah.
We
should
talk
about
that.
That
idea
has
come
up,
but
it
does
have
its
limits
in
terms
of
selling
like
advertising
space
on,
let's
say,
a
a
clock.
You
know
a
game
clock
or
something
along
that
lines.
That
does
have
its
limitations,
but
we'll
look
into
it.
B
Mr
Fritz
and
we
can
report
back
the
next
month,
okay
and
then
the
finally,
what
we
have
improved
the
in
graduation
rates,
I'm
I,
was
thinking
about
you
as
the
results
came
out,
Mr
Fritz,
but
you
know
one
of
the
things
that
we
were
going
to
mention
the
Board
of
Education
we
might
as
well
mention
it
now
is
that
we
are
moving
towards
a
nine
period
day
because
of
the
influx
of
money.
We
are
moving
towards
a
nine
period
day
in
the
middle
schools.
B
The
board
has
approved
that
we
actually
spoke
about
that
again
this
evening.
They
have
approved
that,
and
one
of
our
goals,
quite
honestly,
is
that
a
vast
majority
of
our
kids,
miss
Ortiz,
has
been
working
around
the
clock
on
this.
We
really
do
hope
anywhere
up
to
90
percent
of
our
students
will
leave
middle
school
with
two
to
three
to
four
high
school
credits,
which
many
school
districts
that
have
the
nine
period
day
do
have
that
benefit.
So
now,
when
they
get
to
the
Freshman
Center,
they
may
have
those
two
three
or
four
credits.
B
Now
they
leave
the
they
leave
the
Freshman
Center,
which
is
a
nine
period
day
with
another
six
seven
or
eight
credits.
Let's
say,
and
now
you
have
students
leaving
ninth
grade
with
anywhere
from
eight
to
twelve
credits,
with
the
reason
I'm
bringing
up
that
number
is
B,
plus
22
is
what
you
need
to
graduate
and
that
will
set
our
kids
up
very
nicely
and
we
should
see
an
increase
over
the
next
few
years.
We
shouldn't
see
an
increase
of
the
graduation
rate,
significantly
I
think
in
in
three
to
four
years.
L
A
That
yeah,
that
into
consideration
and
we'll
speak
about
it
with
Mr
ocean
as
a
board
and
with
our
school
attorney,
and
if
that's
something
that's
you
know
permissible,
we'll
certainly
give
it
some
thought.
Thank
you
for
bringing
that
to
the
table
for
us.
Thank
you.
We
appreciate
it
so
Mr
lotion,
I'm
speaking
about
the
Freshman
Center,
there's
been
some
question
regarding
converting
our
freshman
center
into
a
Sixth,
Grade,
Center
and
I
know
many
community
members
have
brought
it
to
the
table.
So
if
you
wouldn't
mind.
B
Okay,
thank
you,
Miss
Phillips,
I
I
will,
you
know,
be
able
to
speak
about
it.
Obviously,
Miss
Felix,
just
asked
me
to
to
you
know,
speak
about
it.
You
know
extemporaneously
I,
don't
have
anything
prepared,
but
we
have
put
a
great
deal
of
time
into
this.
You
know
it.
It
has
come
up
with
the
last
couple
of
years.
It
is
something
that
the
Board
of
Education
directed
me
to
look
into,
and
I
reported
back
to
them
a
few
weeks
back
about
the
status,
and
here
it
is
currently
right.
B
So
one
of
the
things
that
we
you
know
came
up
with
is
that
that's
actually
hopefully
will
begin
this
year.
You
know
we've.
It
takes
quite
a
bit
of
maneuvering
to
get
it
through
the
state
and
the
approval
process,
it's
taking
us
a
number
of
years,
but
that
hopefully
will
begin
sometime
in
the
near
future,
but
will
not
be
complete
by
September.
B
So
from
a
very
practical
standpoint,
we
don't
think
that
it
is
advisable
to
send,
to
you
know,
bring
the
kids
up
to
the
Sixth
Grade
Center
and
have
these
Portables
utilized
by
the
sixth
grade.
Then
there's
another
very
practical
consideration
and
Miss
Ortiz
has
done
a
considerable
amount
of
research
into
this.
If
you
take
out
current
sixth
grade
population
and
move
that
to
the
Freshman
Center
The
Freshman
Center,
as
it
is
right
now,
we
actually
don't
have
the
physical
capacity
that
we
could
not
transition.
B
Yeah,
all
of
the
specials
and
obviously
our
bilingual
class
or
special
education
classes.
They
obviously
require
space
as
well
so
currently
and
believe
me
we're
looking
at
all
of
the
different
configurations,
because
we
do
think
it
has
Merit,
but
right
now,
certainly
not
for
next
year,
because
I
wouldn't
make
the
recommendation
with
the
Portables,
but
we're
not
even
certain
that
it
can
be
done
even
after
the
Portables
are
converted
to
regular
classrooms
because
of
our
the
size
of
our
Sixth
Grade
Center.
B
That's
a
great
point
also
we,
you
know,
as
you
know,
transportation
is
a
huge.
You
know,
part
of
our
budget
and
right
now
we
have
obviously
the
high
school
gets
picked
up.
First,
the
high
school
and
the
Freshman
Center
that
has
all
of
our
buses
out
picking
up
our
students
and
dropping
them
off.
Then
they
go
to
the
middle
schools.
Then
they
go
to
the
Freshman
Center.
B
So
if
we
bring
and
if
we
bring
the
Sixth
Grade
Center
in
we'd,
have
to
have
all
of
those
buses
bring
those
kids
because
remember
Sixth,
Grade
Center
we'd
have
to
have
all
of
the
kids
from
all
over
the
district.
All
four
corners
brought
to
that
one
location
which
means
we'd
have
to
have
all
of
buses
running
now,
not
to
continue
to
shorten
this.
This
lousy
explanation
up
what
that
means
is
we'd
have
to
either
run
the
Sixth
Grade
Center.
B
At
the
same
time,
the
high
school
begins
which
the
high
school
begins
before
7
30
right
now,
7
27,
so
we'd
have
to
run
the
Sixth
Grade
Center.
The
sixth
graders
would
have
to
arrive
at
7
27
at
the
same
time,
and
actually
that's
not
even
a
correct
assessment,
because
we'd
have
to
have
we'd
have
to
have
if
we
did
that
we'd
have
to
hire.
We'd
have
to
get
a
lot
more
buses
because
we'd
have
to
have
those
kids
going
to.
You
know
the
Sixth
Grade
Center
from
all
four
corners.
B
That's
not
you
know
advisable.
We
can't
really
bring
them
in
at
the
same
time
as
the
middle
school
or
we
could
but
we'd
have
to
add
additional
buses.
Let
me
just
leave
it
at
that,
rather
than
this
lousy
explanation.
We
we'd
have
to
bring
in
lots
more
buses
in
order
to
accomplish
this
task,
which
would
be
to
have
the
students.
The
sixth
grade.
Students
arrived
the
same
time
as
the
elementary
students,
so
in
other
words,
all
of
the
elementary
all
of
the
buses
are
being
used
to
bust.
B
A
A
C
B
So
we
can
I
just
say,
though
real
quickly,
though
we
are
speaking
about
renaming
the
district,
and
this
again
is
you
know:
Miss
Ortiz,
Miss
Young,
you
know
have
thought
about
this
quite
a
bit,
and
that
is
as
well
as
the
Freshman
Center.
We
are
considering
renaming
The
Freshman
Center
and
we
have
a
number
of
names
out
there.
So,
even
if
it's
temporary-
let's
say
it's
only
a
year
or
two
or
it's
you
know
in
perpetuity,
we
would
like
to
consider
renaming
The
Freshman
Center
as
well,
so
we're
working
on
that
also.
A
In
Minnesota,
sorry
about
that,
I
just
want
to
make
sure
that
the
Community
member
at
home
I
would
like
a
follow-up
on
a
request.
I
made
in
previous
board
meeting
right
before
the
safety
Workshop
was
implemented
in
regards
to
discipline
procedure,
it
has
been
found
that
there
are
false
documentation
and
harsh
punishment
within
the
discipline
system
across
schools
in
both
the
middle
school
and
the
high
school
I
requested
that,
in
the
safety
plan,
a
double
signature
be
required
before
entering
discipline
records
for
students,
as
this
can
impact
their
future
and
mental
health.
B
Okay,
that's
this
actually
is
the
first
time
I'm,
seeing
this
request.
I
wasn't
at
the
safety
plan
meeting,
so
I
haven't
heard
this
request
before
I'm
hearing
what
they're
saying
in
terms
of
it
sounds
like
they're
looking
for
a
second
signature
when
someone
I
guess
is
suspended
out
of
school,
I
will
tell
you
right
now,
just
so.
You
know
that
it's
actually
a
legal
requirement
for
the
principal
of
the
building
to
sign
an
out
of
school
suspension.
Actually,
no
one
else
signs
the
out
of
school
suspension.
B
It's
always
the
the
school
principal,
even
if
they
are
not
necessarily
involved
in
the
discipline
of
that
student
in
terms
of
a
coast,
co-signature
I'm
not
exactly
sure
what
they
mean
by
that
I.
Guess
they
mean
another
signature
by
another
administrator,
so
they
can
be
some
type
of
yeah.
Is
that
they're.
B
Okay,
well,
that
would
be
something
again
I'd
have
to
discuss.
You
know
like
I
said
this
is
the
first
I'm
hearing
that
I
do
want
to
know
that
most
you
know
if
there
is
an
out
of
school
suspension,
I
I,
I'm,
fairly,
confident
to
say
that
there
has
been
a
a
thorough
investigation.
There
should
be
just
so
I
I
am
clear
here.
There
should
also
be
a
meeting
with
the
parents.
Parents
should
be
involved
and
should
know
what
the
outcome.
B
If
there
is
some
type
of
adjudication,
if
there's
some
type
of
disciplinary
action
being
taken
on
their
son
or
daughter,
they
should
know
in
a
very
timely
fashion.
There
should
be
a
meeting,
but
it
sounds
like
you
know.
This
particular
parent
is
obviously
unhappy
with
some
of
the
the
the
hot
she's.
The
words
are
harsh
discipline.
I
I
am
sorry
about
that.
I
would
certainly
look
into
that
and
I'll
also
look
into
the
the
co-signatures
I'm,
not
exactly
sure.
If
that
is
something
we
can
do.
F
B
F
Mr
loafner
you're
correct,
so
the
out
of
school
suspension
can
only
be
done
by
a
building
principal
the
Board
of
Education
or
the
superintendent.
Of
course,
99
of
the
time
a
suspension
of
five
school
days
or
less
is
done
by
the
building
principal.
That
is
the
only
person
authorized
to
sign.
So
there
would
not
be
a
double
signature
on
that
letter,
but
there's
also
typically
an
incident
report
that
comes
before
that.
F
B
Yeah
well,
we'll
have
to
review
that
only
a
principal
can
suspend
out
of
school,
the
assistant
principal.
Obviously
they
are,
you
know
very
often
they're
involved
in
the
the
discipline
of
students,
the
the
management
of
the
school.
So
there
should
be
involved
in
the
investigation
quite
possibly
making
the
recommendation
to
the
building
principle.
K
I,
just
I
do
remember
when
this
parent
came
and
bought
this
before
the
board
and
I.
Think
her
reasons
for
asking
is
because
she
felt
that
the
discipline
that
was
issue
to
her
son
was
harsher
than
what
she
thought
was
required
and
I
don't
know.
I
know
she
did
say
signature,
but
I
think
what
she
really
wants
is
to
have
additional
input
and
so
that
there's
some
backup
information
to
back
up
the
fact
that
it
it
meets
the
requirement
for
an
out
of
school
suspension.
B
No
I
I
agree,
and
you
know
the
the
punishment
is
it's
something
that
we
speak
about
quite
a
bit
as
a
cabinet
and
administrators.
You
know
we
are
not
as
a
group
for
Harsh
discipline.
We
try
to
avoid
that
as
much
as
possible.
Really
we
try
to
avoid
out
of
school
suspensions
as
much
as
possible.
Unfortunately,
it
does
happen,
particularly
in
a
school
district
of
this
size.
The
number
is
larger
than
obviously
a
smaller
District.
We
do.
We
have
instituted
restorative
justice
in
our
schools.
I
think
it
is
beginning
to
pay
off.
B
As
a
matter
of
fact,
I
was
in
the
high
school
yesterday
and
walked
into
several
classrooms
where
the
restorative
circles
were
going
on.
They
actually
set
aside
a
time.
You
know
once
every
few
weeks
to
do
the
restorative
circles,
I
think
that's
beginning
to
pay
off
so
I'm,
hoping
that
there'll
be
less.
You
know,
you
know
out
of
school
suspensions
and
in
school
suspensions
as
we
move
forward.
A
B
D
D
K
A
K
B
K
A
Floors
yeah,
it
would
be
impossible
for
us
to
rip
everything
up
in
a
month
two
months
time.
It's
just
it
becomes
prohibitive.
First
of
all,
and
no
one
would
be
able
to
enter
the
buildings
in
that
process,
because
you
know
we
have
everything
as
you
walk
in,
we
have
it
on
the
terrazzo
floors.
You'd
have
to
remove
that
up.
A
B
The
selling
of
and
and
holding
weight
I
probably
recommend,
not
you
know,
moving
forward,
probably
not
selling
those
items
but
I
I.
You
know,
I,
don't
think
that
that
items
that
are
already
have
the
Indian
on
it
would
preclude
us
from
wearing
it
that
that
is
a
teacher
like
myself
I,
you
know,
I,
probably
you
know,
as
the
superintendent
I
probably
will
wear
the
the
Brentwood
Indian
at
official
functions,
but
that's
not
to
say
when
I'm
you
know
out
and
about
around
town
I
wouldn't
have
that
right.
A
F
Sure
I
just
wanted
to
add.
So,
of
course,
this
is
the
results
of
the
State
education
department,
saying
that
by
the
end
of
this
current
school
year,
22-23
school
districts
should
be
replacing
their
Native
American
team
names,
logos
and
imagery.
So,
of
course
the
feathers
would
probably
constitute
part
of.
D
D
Yeah
and
as
far
as
the
parade,
the
SBA
was
never
actually
participate.
So
I
don't
know,
but
someone
else
was,
but
it
wasn't
me.
D
B
They
made
that
I
know,
237
is
walking
and
I
just
assumed
everybody,
but
even
if
you're
not
walking
in
a
CSEA
capacity,
I
know
different
schools
are
going
to
be
walking
and
probably
you
know,
they'll
have

we'll
let
the
Brentwood
know.
