This meeting is compliant with the Governors Executive Order N-08-21 issued on June 21, 2021 allowing for deviation of teleconference rules required by the Brown Act. so
I'm
going

before
we
jump
into

I
did
want
to
quickly
introduce
nicole
houghton
she's,
our
new
recreation
supervisor
for
the
park
and
rec
department,
and
she
comes
to
us
with
a
significant
amount
of
experience
working
previously
for
the
city
of
burlingame
and
in
mill,
valley
and
she's,
worked
in
aquatics
and
seniors
and
child
care
and
teens,
and
we
are
very
excited
to
have
her
on
the
team.
She
was
out
of
the
park
working
on
sunday
at
the
concert.

program
is
doing,
given

the
city
contributes
annually

program,

she
graciously
agreed

attend

evening

us

share
kind
of
highlights
of
the
program
from
the
past
year
and
what
they're
looking
to
do
in
the
coming
school
year.
So
with
that,
I
will
go
ahead
and
turn

I
I'm
starting
at
the
end,
let
me
start
at
the
beginning.
Club
littmann
school
year
is
how
we
always
think
of
it.
So
2122
and
just
a
little
bit
about
us.
As
you
mentioned,
the
city
graciously,
you
know,
with
a
large
grant
funds
much
of
our
after
school
program.
It's
beginning
its
seventh
year
this
coming
school
year,
our
club
whitman
clubs
have
been
led
by
our
after-school
staff.
I
It's
myself
and
apparently
mr
fletcher
is
the
other
person
who
regularly
works,
and
sometimes
we
bring
in
miss
rydeen
to
help
with
like
overflow
during
homework
club.
Our
busiest
time
we've
had
community
members
lead
with
us
teachers
outside
agencies,
our
own
brisbane
aquatic
staff,
of
which
I
have
my
youngest
child,
has
worked
for
us
to
do
junior
lifeguarding
and
sometimes
even
former
students.
I
am
not
going
to
read
this
list,
but
there
are
46
classes
to
date
of
a
variety
of
46,
different
clubs
that
we've
had
over
the
years.
I
So
we
feel,
like
we've,
tried
a
lot
of
different
things.
Some
things
really
stick,
and
you
know
the
kids
are
waiting
for
them
and
we
just
feel
really
like
blessed
and
fortunate
to
be
able
to
have
such
a
diverse,
offering
and
so
much
participation
from
our
kids,
so
the
support
of
our
students,
the
skills,
they're
learning.
You
know
their
interests
that
they're
picking
and
the
relationships
that
they
form
are
really
valuable,
valued
and
appreciated.
I
I
just
want
to
make
sure
and
share
that
with
you
the
objective,
basically
of
our
middle
school
club.
You
know
something
like
going
into
it.
We
really
thought
a
lot
about
you
know.
Basically,
was
we
wanted
to
have
a
teen
program
that
creates
a
supportive
place
for
teens
to
have
healthy
activities
after
the
school
day?
It
provides
increased
supervision.
You
know
during
a
time
where
they
might
not
always
be
so
supervised.
I
We
were
really
proud
that
the
very
first
year
that
we've
all
been
back
on
campus
amidst
half
of
our
school
being
unavailable
to
us
when
we
first
started
due
to
construction
that
we
had
80
of
our
kids
this
year,
participating
in
after
school
activities
when
we
started
off,
we
had
about
48
percent
of
our
kids
and
our
highest
year
of
enrollment
after
school
was
95
of
our
students.
So
that
means
almost
all
of
our
student
body,
or
at
least
currently
80
have
been
taking
advantage
of
it.
And
we're
really
happy
about
that.
I
I
It
gives
our
youth
a
challenge
that
they
can
rise
to.
So
you
know
they
might
be
doing
activities
they've,
never
thought
about
before
and
end
up
really
enjoying
them.
There's
an
enriching
creative
activity
that
they
can
participate.
So
things
like
yearbook,
board,
games
and
crochet
and
knitting-
and
you
know,
there's
just
lots
of
opportunities
for
them
to
try
something
else.
That's
kind
of
creative
and
enriching.
It
gives
youth
opportunities
to
develop
leadership
and
decision
making
skills.
I
So
we've
had
things
like
chess
and
leadership
and
junior
lifeguarding
that
you
know
kind
of
hone
those
types
of
skills
and
then
focus
on
the
development
of
needs.
Excuse
me
the
developmental
needs
of
young
people
by
nurturing
their
autonomy
and,
at
the
same
time,
the
programs
lend
them
guidance.
So
the
kids
have
choice
in
the
activities
that
they
sign
up
for,
or
you
know,
along
with
their
families,
make
a
choice
about
what
they
sign
up
for
and
when
they
take
it,
providing
all
of
these
opportunities
over
the
long
term.
I
So
many
of
our
clubs
we've
offered
throughout
the
school
year,
and
they
might,
you
know,
dive
into
something
and
get
to
continue
to
work
at
it
and
some
of
the
clubs,
even
you
know,
continue
from
one
year
to
the
next.
You
know
so
that
they
can
have
time
to
form
an
interest,
and
this
is
just
from
a
report
about
what
do
adolescents
need
for
healthy
development
implications
for
youth
policy,
and
then
I
just
kind
of
wanted
to
include
just
for
some
background
information.
I
I
We
use
our
life
skills
that
we
use
at
school.
You
know
in
our
after
school
program
as
well,
they're
expected
to
follow
school
rules
after
school.
You
know
if
there
are
problems
with
behavior,
then
we
call
home
when
they're
in
homework
club
they
kind
of
have
to
stick
to
doing
academic
things.
So
even
if
they
were
finished
their
homework,
we
want
them
to
read
and
work
on
other
kind
of
skill
building
programs.
I
It's
expected
that
once
a
student's
enrolled
in
a
program
that
they'll
attend
regularly,
because
sometimes
our
programs
are
impacted
and
not
everyone
can
get
in
so
that's
only
kind
of
fair
and
then
repeated
absences
might
result
in
students
being
dropped
from
a
program
as
other
students
who
might
be
waiting.
So
those
are
just
kind
of
some
of
the
guidelines
of
our
program
and
then
lastly,
I
just
wanted
to
share
some
feedback
from
the
littmann
community.
You
know
our
community.
They
appreciate
that.
I
There's
assistance
available
from
adults
that
are
present
and
on
occasion
we
have.
You,
know,
teachers
that
will
come
in
and
join
us
to
talk
about
things
and
then
also.
I
think
it's
really
valuable
that
the
kids
have
this
opportunity
to
work
with
other
students
and
then
what
we
hear
from
them
are
that
the
clubs
are
fun
and
another
really
nice
compliment
I
wanted
to
share
was
just
thanking
us
for
creating
a
space
for
my
student
to
feel
safe
and
welcome.

that

love
that

seen,

have
guessed
that
that
might

we

a
survey
on
what
you

People
are
looking
for
in
the
community
and
I
think
team
needs
are
really
on
my
mind

just
reading
the
news
today,
like
there's
just
so
much
hardship.

I'm
definitely
speaking
from
my
mind,
not
necessarily
in
a
club
form.
We.
We
have
a
lot
of
services
available
to
our
students
period
and
I
do
feel
like
they're
utilized,
and
I
do
feel
like
it's
been
a
trying
time
and
I
see
it
in
I
mean
I
feel
it
and
our
community
feels
it
and
our
teachers
feel
it
and
our
our
our
kids
feel
it.
But
I
think
the
overwhelming
feeling
is
just
this
gratefulness
for
being
back
together
and
all
of
us.
I
You
know
we
had
a
year
when
half
of
us
were
here
and
half
of
us
were
at
home
and
that
was
challenging
too.
It's
just
really
been
great
to
be
back
together
and
to
be
able
to
like
have
community
events,
and
occasionally
we
get
a
parent
back
on
campus,
which
is
really
lovely,
or
you
know
just
people
in
our
community
that
we
just
haven't
seen
enough
of
so
I
think,
just
being
back
together
has
been
a
big
thing.
I
do
think.
I
There's,
probably
you
know
the
mental
health
I
you
know,
I
do
see
it
a
little
bit
more
in
my
opinion
anyway,
but
I
feel
like
we
serve
that
in
different
ways
at
school,
not
necessarily
so
much
after
school.
But
that's
an
interesting
thought.
If
we
could,
you
know,
put
those
things
together,
but
I
think
just
being
there
and
available,
I
think
is,
is
the
biggest
thing
that
we're
doing
and
we
even
actually
did
hold
club
littmann
virtually
when
we
were
at
home.
I

You
know
have
it
and
as
soon
as
we
started
back
on
campus,
we
went
ahead
and
started
up
after
school
and
we
were
just
a
little
bit
more
thoughtful
about
like
for
programs
like
homework
club,
we
would
keep
eighth
graders
in
one
room
and
seventh
graders
and
just
to
kind
of
mitigate.
You
know
exposure,
but
it
really
worked
out
really
well.
We
also
took
advantage
of
our
outdoor
spaces,
which
are
lovely
in
brisbane.
I
I
live
in
daly
city,
it's
a
little
more
foggy
and
you
know
we
took
advantage
of
our
outdoor
spaces
and
as
soon
as
jeff
was
willing
to
open
the
pool
to
us,
we
were
right
there.
You
know,
and
the
mountain
and
our
blacktop
and
things
like
that.
So
it's
worked
really
well.
So
I'd
love
to
hear
whatever
you
hear
from
from
kids
at
the
yacht,
though
too,
that's.

and
I
will
be
sharing
that
and
then
the
other
thing,
and
and
this
is
more
for
noreen
and
staff,
but
you
know
just
looking
at
the
wait
list
and
I
know
to
a
certain
extent
like
that's
just
going
to
happen,
and
you
don't
want
to
overstuff
it.

would
just
say
I
think
the
most
important
priority
for
us
is
making
sure
that
every
kid
who
needs
this
after-school
programming
has
access.

can't
get

this

choose
that
one
so
kids
are
not
missing
out.
They
just
might
not
get
the
highest
leadership
if
you'll
believe
it
was
very
popular
and
so
which
is
great.

you
didn't
get
to
sign
up
for
leadership
the
first
time
and
then
you
learned.
Oh,
I
need
to
turn
in
my
paperwork
quickly
and
I
get
in
the
second
time
so
nobody's
turned
away
like
we
always
have
room.

being
comfortable
with
something
new,
I
also
really
yeah.
That's
what
I
appreciated.

lot
was
just
being
brave
enough
to
try
something
new
and
I

also
just
feel
like
the
relationships
between
the
staff.

there,

our
teachers
like
this
year.
Even
we
had
other
teachers
that
did
like
crochet
and
knitting
and
a
teacher
that
did
board
games.

being
that
we're
in
a
school
setting,
and
it
just

mean
the
most
important
thing
is
for
everyone
to
feel
comfortable
and
safe,
trying
something
that
maybe
they're,
not
too
sure
of
and
with
different
kids

in
their
class
every
day.
So
it
just
really
makes
it
run
much
more
smoothly
and
comfortably
and
and
people
feel
secure.

we
have
the
same
rules
and
it
would
be
silly
like
how
would
we
drop
the
rules?

see
so
leadership
was
so
much
more
popular
than
I
ever
would
have
expected.
Board
games
was
very
popular
this
past
year
and
that
was
led
by
our
eighth
grade
teacher
another
one
junior
lifeguarding
tends
to
be.

almost
always
feel
that
on
any
of
our
swimming
programs
over
the
years,
we've
had
a
chef
come
in
and
do
cooking,
but
we're
just
not
quite
there.
I
You
know
right
now
and
also
our
kitchen
wasn't
you
know
ready
for
half
the
year
so,
but
cooking
always
would
fill
and
many
of
them
like
we've.
You
know,
we've
had
pretty
good
times
with
chess,
sometimes
with
guitar.
Oh,
I
know
this
year
the
coding
and
the
3d
modeling
filled
up
like
yeah.
So
so
we
always
have
things
that
fill
up,
but
then
we
just
always
have
extra
spots
in
our
first
hour
after
school.
I
We
we
really
try
and
like
pack
in
homework
club,
because
you
know
that's
really
something
we
like
for
the
kids
to
get
out
of
the
program
and
then
it's
also
available
in
the
second
hour.
So
if
you
were
to
take
a
club,
that's
right
after
you
still
can
do
homework
club.
If
you'd
like
to
and
then
in
that
second
hour,
we
tend
to
weave
in
a
lot
of
little
extra
things
so
that,
like
we
were
talking
about,
if
somebody
can't
get
into
one
thing,
there's
still
always
a
spot
for
you.

nationwide
campaign
that
we
participate
in
every
year
and
then
I'm
also
going
to
share
a
video
that
our
the
city's
communications
and
marketing
team
is
putting
together
to
kind
of
serve
as
overviews
of
what
each
of
the
city's
departments

and
they
released
ours
in
conjunction
with
national
park
and
rec
month.
So
I
don't
know
if
you've
all
had
an
opportunity
to
view
it
on
the
city's
social
media
sites,
but
I'm
going
to
go
ahead
and
play
it
here
through
my
share

so

with

a

rise
up,

for
inclusion,
resilience,
physical
health,
mental
well-being,
access
to
play
and
we
rise
up
for
our
community.

think
it
was
seen
during
the
pandemic
that
recreation
really
stepped
up
and
and
was
a
pivotal
part
of
the
community.
So
it's
continuing
on
in
this
month
and
and
I'd
like
to
continue
to
show
you
some
of
the
things
that
we've
been
working
on.

climbing
wall

was
mentioned,
it

really
beautiful
day

was

great
to
have
partnered
with

health

wellness
fair
and
just
a
beautiful
day
to
be
out
and
enjoying
the
community
park
on
the
next

was
one
of
our
first
events
that
we
put
on.

just
set
up
a
pop-up
tent
and
had
some
some
swag
that
we
gave
out
to
the
community
and
promoted
our
upcoming
events,
and
it
was,
it
was
just
a
really
great
start

kickoff
to
the
months
and
actually
right.

cup
so
cute
moving
right
along
and
we
had
our
popsicle
giveaway
this
last
monday,
I
was
able
to
pass
out
some
popsicles
on
a
nice
refreshing
day.

here
is
one
our
ever
popular
water
aerobics
program,
it's
offered
more
than
just
on
mondays,
but
we
wanted
to
highlight
it
for
july
18th
from
10
to
10
45,
and
that
one
does
have
an
interest
entrance
fee
required
and
it
is
pretty
popular.
So
it's
a
first
come
first
serve
but
highlighting
our
wonderful
water
aerobics
program.

we
have
our
kickball
at
lippmann
field.
This
is
one
wednesday,
the
20th
at
6
p.m.
This
is
geared
towards
our
21
and
up
crowd
and
that's
more
to
have
a
diverse
option
of
programs
to
the
community
and
then
alongside
that
is
on
july
22nd.
We
are
hosting
a
glow-in-the-dark
swim
over
at
the
community
pool
and
by
glow-in-the-dark
swim
we
mean
that
there's
going
to
be
glow-in-the-dark,
led
beach,
balls
and
led
lights
that
are
going
to
be
out
there
and
we're
excited
to
host
the
teen
community.

then
these
are
some
of
our
final
ones
for
the
month,
we're
offering
some
s'mores
to
the
community
pre-packaged
s'mores
on
july
25th
and
then
some
lawn
games
in
conjunction
with
the
farmers
market.
That
will
be
out
there
at
the
same
time
on
thursday,
the
28th
and
then,
as
we
wrap
up
july,
and
we
look
ahead.

are
promoting
our
brisbane
community
night
august,
12th
it'll
be
against
the
pittsburgh
pirates
and
it's
one
that
we
offered
prior
to
the
pandemic
and
are
excited
to
bring
it
back
and
it'll
be
my
first
time
so.

are
already
pre-purchased
and
can
be
purchased
through
jovi
and
they're.

the

a

date
august
26th,
our
ever
popular
cornhole
tournament,
is
getting
a
specific
theme,
so
we're
going
to
have
an
80s
themed,
cornhole
tournament
costumes

much

it'll
be
just
another
opportunity
to
get
outside
and
have
have
a
little
fun
on
a
nice
summer
day.

I
believe
that
wraps
it
up,
but
a
lot
of
great
things
going
on
and
I'm
excited
to
be
a
part
of
it.

always

still
a
very
large

the
money

scholarships

promote

women's
side
to
have
a
little
more
money,
maybe
for
the
for
the
boys.

it's
it's
both
ways
and
it's
just
a
great
event.

and

we

more
people
needed
to

films

real
life

trying
times

we

been
through

last
few
years.

it's

five
years

the
survey
open
for
public

input

weeks
we
had
originally
established

goal

survey

population

brisbane
households
and
with
all
of
the
outreach
methods
we
had
about
187
respondents
or
94
to
the
goal
on
the
next
slide.
We
have
a
list
of
all
of
our
various
outreach
methods,
both
direct
and
online.

survey
and
create
awareness
wherever
we
possibly
could
through
events
that
we've
had
over
the
well

last
couple

months
through

community
partnerships

all
of
our
kind

web-based
social

to
inundate
people
with
the
information
and
I
think
the
saying
is
that
people
have
to
see
something
seven
times
to
act.

sunrise,
room

like
the
dog
park
and
the
basketball
court
skate
park
and
volleyball
courts,
which
tend
to
be
those
are
kind
of
the
newer
facilities
or
the
facilities
that
have
been
given
attention
in
recent
years.
So
it's
not
surprising
to
see
this
ranked
in
such
a
way.

care,

just
a
couple
that
indicated:

or
somewhat
poor,
and
then,
if
the
city
were
to
co-sponsor
additional
community
fitness
classes,
which
would
you
most
likely
attend,

lot
of
really
great
feedback
in
the
responses
to
this
question.

we
kind
of
built
in
some
overarching
options
here
with
you
know,
strength,
training,
yoga,
meditation,
pilates,
but
people
also
gave
a
lot
of
great
suggestions
in
the
comments
there
as
well.
So
it
seems
like
an
area
that
we
may
want
to
focus
on
in
the
coming
years
and
then
kind
of
the
non-categorized
questions,
the
first
being
the
concept
or
idea
about
renting
or
offering
sports
equipment
to
the
public
and
whether
they
would
be
interested
in
utilizing
those
types
of
things.

commission
to
kind

talk

we've
received
and

try

identify

next

commission
meeting

kind

dissect

a
more
granular

be

a
couple

priorities

conversation

subcommittees

the

liaison

being
able
to
speak
with
the
council
liaisons

that

project
going
and
our
first
project

is

space

kind
of
where

plug
preserve
is
in
the
main
park
and
try

get
something
started
there,
because
we
have
discussed
many
other
options
and
it
seems
like
that.

good
one

tackle
and

do
believe
we
set
a
budget,
but
then
we
have
discussed.
We
don't
know
if
that
budget
is
going
to
be
more
or
less
because
we're
just
kind
of
shooting
in
the
dark.
As
far
as
how
much
money
we're
going
to
need
to
spend
to
make
something
happen,
but
I
remember
us
really
wanting
to
get
something
started.

include

goal

to
try
to
include

public
more

that
we
don't

anything

own

get
everyone
yells

just

many
projects

put

art
projects,
which
is
really
interesting.

important

everyone

know

there's

sites
that

funny

more
sports
was
something
in
sports
teams
with
something
that
they
brought
up,
and
I
guess
there
were
a
couple
of
themes
that
really
stood
out
to
me

earlier
conversation
about
the
litman
after
school
program
when
you're
a
high
schooler
in
brisbane-
and
I
think
this
is
stating
the
obvious.
But
to
me
just
hearing
them
say
it
was
very
powerful.

community

lot
of
activities
to
do
in
brisbane
because
you're
going
to
high
school
elm
square
and
that
can
be
really
hard.

in

summer,
especially
to
kind
of
find
your
group
it's

hard

that
was
one
piece
of
feedback
they
gave
like
you
know
when
they
do
after
school
stuff
or
activities,
it's
usually
with
their
school
and
so
they're
out
of
brisbane.

just
having
that

probably
incentivize
a
lot
more
students
to
attend.
They
said
you

we
could
provide
pizza
dinner
and
get
beans
there.
We
also
talked
about
like
what
kind
of
activities
would
they

general
for
teens
and
that's
where
sports
came
up.

know
tech
support.
They
were
interested
in
providing
tech
support
to
seniors
cooking
and
again,
if
there's
a
way
to
do
this,
so
it's
fulfilling
their
community
service
obligations,
they
said,
would
be
really
helpful.

talked
about
you
know,
contests
scavenger,
hunts,
those
types
of
things
and
that
maybe
we
could
also
work
with
the
schools
to
get
survey
data
directly
on
what
students
are
interested
in
in
terms
of
activities,
which
I
think
someone
said
on
our
survey,
which
I
think
is
is
absolutely
a
good
idea.
But
thinking
about
all
of
this,
like
my
perception,
was
what
we
have
a
great
community.

very
well
taken
care
of
in
the
community
in
brisbane
through
junior
high,
and
can
we
create
something
that
builds
that
sense
of
community
into
high
school
when
they
are
going
to
different
places,
was
was
just
kind
of
something
that
came
to
mind

do
that

and
frank
anything.

putting
together
programs

teams

volunteer

restoration
events

events

facilitate.
So
those
opportunities
are
there.

there's
certainly
room

growth

the
word
out
to
the
team
so
that
they
have
an
awareness
of
those
opportunities
that
are
available
to
them
would
definitely
be
helpful.

summer
camp

great.

preschool
summer
camp
is
going
wonderfully
as
well
that

shortly.

we
have
quite

training

our
summer
camp
program.
So
that's
nice
to
kind
of
help
build
the
pipeline
to
employment
for
our
rec
leader
staff.

berlin
game

nine
to
one,
and
it
will
be
an
opportunity
to
kind
of
meet
with
your
colleagues
in
other
neighboring
agencies
and
talk
through
kind
of
the
challenges

commissioners

we
have
a
few
very
knowledgeable
speakers
lined
up
so
natalie
can
attest
to.

think
she
attended
our
last
one,
which
was
oh
gosh.
I
don't
know,
maybe
five
or
six
years
ago
it's
been
a
while.
So
we
felt,
like
the
timing,
was
right
to
do
it
again.

organizations
have
experienced
an
influx
of
newer
commissioners,
and
so
it
seemed
to
be
pretty
valuable
last
time
and
so
we're
bringing
it
back
