Description
The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia
4th Session
42nd Parliament
A
A
This
organization
has
been
a
Beacon
of
Hope
for
countless
women,
helping
them,
transform
their
lives
and
emerge
from
the
darkness
of
addiction,
homelessness
and
mental
health
struggles.
The
story
of
the
Cara
support
Society
began
in
2006
when
a
group
of
friends
recognized
the
gaps
in
the
services
and
resources
for
women
struggling
with
addiction
and
homelessness,
moved
by
compassion
and
a
deep
sense
of
responsibility.
These
friends
came
together
with
the
shared
vision
of
creating
an
organization
that
could
provide
life-changing
assistance
to
those
in
need
over
the
years.
A
Their
dedication,
hard
work
and
unrelenting
commitment
have
laid
the
foundation
for
the
incredible
organization
that
the
care
support.
Society
is
today,
starting
in
group
homes.
The
society
now
runs
a
37
bed,
Leed
certified,
building
where
women
and
their
children
can
come
and
heal.
The
society's
dedication
to
providing
safe
and
stable
housing
is
the
Cornerstone
of
its
success
by
offering
a
secure
environment
the
care
support,
Society,
helps
to
restore
dignity
and
self-worth
to
those
that
have
been
marginalized
and
forgotten.
A
This
Foundation
of
stability
is
vital
in
allowing
individuals
to
focus
on
personal
growth,
mental
health
and
recovery,
but
the
society's
efforts
don't
end
with
housing.
They
recognize
the
importance
of
comprehensive
support,
which
is
why
they
provide
access
to
essential
services
like
counseling
life,
skills,
training
and
employment
assistance.
These
programs
Foster
a
sense
of
community
belonging
and
empowerment,
enabling
individuals
to
rebuild
their
lives
with
renewed
purpose
and
self-confidence,
as
I
spoke
with
the
co-executive
directors,
Deborah
Clawson
and
Jerry
Paul's
about
the
work
of
Charis
My
Hope
grew.
