Cartwright Governing Board Meeting 2/9/23
A
Good
evening,
everyone
thank
you
for
your
patience
good
evening,
everyone
and
welcome
to
the
Cartwright
Elementary
School
District
governing
board
regular
meeting
of
Thursday
February
9
2023.
Let
the
record
reflect
it
is
5,
12
p.m,
and
the
meeting
is
in
session
all
right.
Let
the
record
reflect
that
we
do
have
governing
board
member
Miss
Lydia
Hernandez
present
in
our
meeting.
She
is
sorry
not
present.
She
is
telephonically
participating
until
she
can
arrive
to
be
present
in
the
meeting.
A
We
also
have
vice
president
Denise
Garcia
in
the
boardroom
and
myself
Marissa
Hernandez,
so
we
do
have
a
quorum
for
this
evening's
meeting.
Thank
you.
Our
next
item
is
one
of
our
favorite
items.
It
is
our
Pledge
of
Allegiance,
and
this
evening
we
will
be
led
by
our
Scholars
from
C.W
Harris
and
if
everyone

please
rise
and
join
us
in
the
Pledge
of
Allegiance.

and
their
ancestral
ties
to
the

item
four
is
our
adoption
of
agenda
and
I
would
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
tonight's
agenda,
as
presented
at
the
cartridge
Elementary
School
District
regular
governing
board
meeting
of

You

I
just
want
to
say
that
I'm
very
honored
to
work
for
car

this
trig.
We
work
with
people
who
are
very
passionate
and
determined
to
to
make
a
difference
in
in
our
community.
This
evening
we
held
a
reception
to
celebrate
our
new
national
board.
Certified

the
national

board

was
designed
to
develop,

A
A
You
vice
president
Garcia,
so
we
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Marissa
Hernandez
and
a
second
by
vice
president
Denise
Garcia.
We
will
do
a
roll
call
vote.
Vice
president
Garcia,
how
do
you
vote
I.
C
A
A
In
attending
the
nileo
40th
annual
conference,
please
let
Christine
or
Linda
know
no
later
than
next
Friday
February
17th.
Is
that
correct,
ladies?
In
order
for
the
hotel
to
be
secured
and
to
be
registered?
So
if
you
are
planning
to
attend
the
Neo
40th

executive

and
those
watching
on
YouTube
as
board
presidents,
just
shared
the
naleo
conference,
happens
to
be.
During
the
same
time,
we
had
scheduled
our
July
governing
board
meeting.
They
moved
it,
and
so,
in
order
to
allow
for
our
governing
board
and
members
of
the
team
to
attend,
we
would
like
to
move
the
July
13
2023
governing
board
meeting
to
June
22nd
for
the
next
school
Year's
first
business
meeting.
A
Thank
you,
Dr
Aguilar,
governing
board
members.
Is
there
any
discussion
on
this
item.
A
Awesome
seeing
none,
we
will
make
a
motion
so
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
to
reschedule
the
July
13
2023
governing
board
meeting
to
be
held
on
June
22nd
2023.

we'll
go

and
do
our

vice

I

Miss
Garcia
governing

Lydia
Hernandez.
How
do
you
vote
aye?
Thank

Ms

Thank

I
A
All
right,
thank
you.
We
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself
and
a
second
by
governing
board
member
Miss
Lydia
Hernandez,
with
that
we
will
go
ahead
and
do
a
roll
call
vote.
Vice

Garcia,
how
do
you

How
do
you
vote
hi?
Thank
you.
Miss
Hernandez,
aye
Bode
as
well,
and
the
motion
carries.
Thank
you.
H
Thank
you,
Governor
board,
president
members
of
the
governing
board
leadership
team
principals,
those
in
the
audience
and
all
that
are
watching
on
YouTube
I,
have
three
presentations
tonight
and
I'd
like
to
start
with
our
first
one
by
calling
over
Ryan
Anderson
one
of
our
directors
in
Educational,
Services
and
Scott
and
I
principal
of
Palm
Lane,
who
are
going
to
do
a
presentation
on
the
four
day
work
week.
F
As
you
can
see,
we
have
a
great
number
of
individuals
who
participated
in
this
team,
almost
30
in
total
administrators
teachers
from
across
the
district
and
a
variety
of
schools
esps,
including
site
and
district
office
staff
and
maintenance
staff.
We
also
had
a
variety
of
Department
supervisors
and,
as
I
mentioned
earlier,
a
variety
of
teachers,
including
k-6
teachers,
K
teachers,
Middle
School
teachers.
We
even
had
on
our
team.
The
current
vice
president
for
cea
Jesse
Lee,
was
on
our
team
as
well.
F
So
it
was
really
important
for
us
to
have
a
variety
of
perspectives
represented
as
we
know
that
when
you
try
and
do
something
like
this,
that
is
going
to
affect
a
lot
of
people
in
a
lot
of
positions
very
differently.
And
so
it
was
important
that
we
allowed
all
of
them
to
be
brought
to
the
table
and
have
their
opportunity
to
kind
of
poke
holes
in
the
plan
and
and
guide
us.
As
we
made
our
recommendations.
F
So
one
of
the
first
things
that
we
want
to
address
is
why
move
to
a
four
day
work
week,
so
there's
actually
a
number
of
reasons
to
do
it.
First
of
all,
we,
our
Scholars,
are
already
on
a
four
day
scholar
week
and
we've
heard
a
lot
of
positive
feedback
from
our
families,
a
lot
of
positive
feedback
from
our
schools
on
how
this
has
affected
them,
having
the
longer
weekends.
F
In
addition
to
that,
we
know
that
it's
really
important
to
us
to
recruit
and
retain
highly
qualified
staff,
and
we've
already
heard
from
those
who
are
now
suddenly
interested
in
working
for
the
Cartwright
School
District,
because
they
know
that
we're
looking
to
implement
a
four-day
work
week
next
year.
We
also
want
to
provide
rejuvenating
weekends
that
allow
our
staff
to
fully
recover
and
relax
two
days.
F
Just
isn't
enough
to
get
everything
done
that
you
want
to,
and
so
having
that
third
day
really
makes
a
big
difference
and
what
we're
hoping
to
accomplish
from
that
is
to
actually
increase
productivity
during
the
work
week
because
of
the
more
relaxing
longer
weekends
and
then
we're
also
hoping
to
decrease
staff
absences
during
the
week.
We
know
that
it's
really
difficult
to
make
doctor's
appointments
and
schedule
visits
to
your
child's
school
and
things
like
that
during
the
week
and
so
a
lot
of
times.
F
F
So,
just
briefly
a
little
bit
about
our
process
and
our
next
steps,
so
our
district
leadership
provided
the
vision
for
the
four
day
week
and
and
what
they
were
looking
for
to
accomplishing
and
from
that
we
sent
out
information
to
the
entire
District
asking
those
who
are
interested
in
being
on
our
implementation
team.
F
To
let
us
know
we
had
over
a
hundred
responses
from
across
the
district,
and
so
we
combed
through
that
again
to
try
and
create
a
team
that
was
as
diverse
as
our
district
and
contain
all
those
different
job
roles
and
departments,
and
we
were
hopeful
that
we
were
able
to
accomplish
that
from
there.
We
also
consulted
other
districts
that
have
recently
moved
to
a
four-day
work
week
to
learn
about
their
implementation,
some
of
the
hurdles
that
that
they
had
to
go
through
and
address.
F
F
F
So,
starting
with
the
work
week,
the
recommendation
was
that
Cartwright
staff
will
work
a
four-day
work
week,
Monday
through
Thursday
in
alignment
with
our
current
scholar
week.
We
wanted
to
stay
away
from
making
any
drastic
changes
to
our
scholar
week.
We
know
what
our
from
the
feedback
we
receive
from
our
families.
F
They
enjoy
them
Monday
through
Thursday
with
Friday
off,
and
so
we
wanted
to
align
a
staff
four
day
week
with
that
Department
supervisors
and
site
administrators
will
have
the
ability
to
flex
time
of
Select
Staff
to
allow
completion
of
special
product
projects
on
Fridays
as
needed.
But
we
want
this
to
be
an
exception
and
not
a
standard
operating
practice.
We
know,
especially
for
our
buildings
and
operations,
staff,
RIT
staff.
F
F
Now,
looking
at
staff
hours,
starting
with
teacher
hours,
this
was
a
bit
of
a
change
for
us.
The
recommendation
is
to
move
our
teaching
staff
towards
a
professional
day.
However,
we
did
want
to
set
up
business
hours
of
7
A.M
to
4
P.M,
so
that
is
when
site
administrators
Department
supervisors
can
schedule.
Meetings
to
meet
with
their
staff,
provide
professional
development
and
training
items
which
we'll
be
discussing
a
little
bit
more
later,
but
outside
of
that
teachers
will
have
the
flexibility
to
come
and
go
based
on
what
their
requirements
are
on
their
job
responsibilities.
F
F
So
we
know
when
teachers
are
present
in
case
the
family
member,
a
parent
is
asking
to
speak
with
them
or
someone
else
on
the
campus
wants
to
know
if
they're
available
and
as
I've
already
mentioned,
all
staff
will
of
course
be
required
to
be
present
during
scholar
hours
and
for
any
of
those
assigned
meetings
for
our
hourly
employees.
Our
instructional
esps
office
staff
maintenance
staff.
If
they
are
full-time,
the
plan
would
be
that
they
would
transition
to
four
10-hour
days,
which
is
similar
to
what
they
already
work
during
our
summers.
F
When
we
are
closed
on
Fridays,
however,
there
is
a
bit
of
a
caveat
here
that,
if,
if
it's
allowable
by
their
supervisor,
they
could
actually
reduce
their
hours
down
to
potentially
36
hours
per
week
or
nine
hour
days,
if
that's
more
convenient
for
them
and
and
that
works
for
everybody
involved,
that's
certainly
going
to
be
an
option
for
our
part-time
employees,
their
current
hours.
They
won't
lose
any
hours.
F
And
then
for
our
psychologists,
nurses,
other
related
service
providers.
Since
most
of
these
are
salaried
exempt
employees,
they
will
operate
very
similar
to
our
teaching
staff,
where
they
will
have
business
hours
of
7
A.M
to
4
pm,
but
they
will
still
also
have
a
professional
day
which
will
allow
them
some
flexibility
for
when
they
need
to
be
on
campus
again
using
that
same
sign
in
and
sign
out
process.
F
But
of
course,
all
staff
will
be
required
to
be
on
campus
during
scholar,
hours
I'm.
Just
a
quick
note
here
about
the
differences
in
some
of
our
nurses
for
our
registered
nurses
and
LPNs.
They
operate
on
that
above
schedule.
However,
our
medical
assistants,
which
are
hourly
employees,
they
will
work
on
the
four
10-hour
days
and
now
I'm,
going
to
turn
it
over
to
Mr
Nye,
who
will
present
the
rest
of
the
items.
F
J
All
right,
so
we
want
to
ensure
that
professional
development
remains
a
key
Focus,
because,
as
we
continue
enhancing
our
practice,
that's
only
going
to
give
us
more
Tools
in
our
toolbox
to
give
back
to
our
Scholars.
So
we
are
recommending
that
there
will
be
two
site-based
professional
development
or
staff
meetings,
whether
it
be
before
school
or
after
school,
depending
on
when
your
start
time
and
end
time
is,
and
then
one
day
per
week,
that
Administration
instructional
support
Specialists
can
meet
with
grade
level
teams
or
departments
during
one
of
their
preps.
J
For
our
district
regionals,
we
want
to
also
ensure
that
we
are
meeting
all
of
the
the
district
and
board
goals
of
ensuring
exceptional
customer
service
and
academic
Excellence.
So
we
will
have
one
full
day:
professional
development
per
quarter.
This
will
be
on
a
Friday
and
the
beginning.
Part
of
the
day
in
the
morning
will
be
for
all
district
professional
development
with
our
regionals,
such
as
our
writing
implementation,
Boys,
Town,
PBIS
and
then
the
afternoon
time
will
actually
be
given
back
to
our
teachers
to
use
this
quarterly
planning
time
on
those
Fridays.
J
Specialists
our
move
on
when
reading
Specialists
or
Administration
Assistant
principals,
principals,
Educational
Services
district
office
administrator.
We
will
work
within
those
departments
under
our
supervisors
to
work
through
meetings
as
needed
during
the
scholar
week,
all
IEP
and
parent
meetings
as
part
of
our
professional
obligation.
They
are
typically
going
to
be
held
during
the
business
hours
of
7
A.M
to
4
pm.
J
That's
that's,
ultimately
what
we
want
to
ensure
comes
first
and
then
also
special
services
will
continue
to
provide
that
one
stack
day
per
month
where
parents
also
have
an
option
if
they
work
nights
or
early
mornings,
that
they
would
potentially
have
an
option
on
that
one
day
per
week
or
I'm.
Sorry,
one
stack
day
per
month
to
come
in
during
this
the
school
day
to
meet
for
those
meetings,
parent-teacher
conferences
and
report
cards-
we're
getting
ready
to
approach
that
now.
J
So
we
will
continue
with
our
conferences
being
held
Monday
through
Thursday,
with
Thursday
continuing
to
be
that
late
night.
We
will
not
have
professional
development
that
week
before
after
school.
So
then,
that
way,
our
teachers
have
that
extra
time
to
meet
with
parents
and
have
additional
time
to
hold
those
parent-teacher
conferences
again
as
part
of
those
staff
responsibilities.
J
There
will
also
not
be
any
scheduled
meetings
leading
up
to
the
week
that
report
cards
are
due
because
we
do
want
our
teachers
to
have
additional
time
to
prepare
those
report
cards
make
sure
that
their
comments
are
individualized
for
their
scholar.
Grades
are
up
to
date,
and
so
we
will
not
have
any
professional
development
leading
up
to
the
date
that
report
cards
are
due.
J
However,
we
are
changing
that
practice
where
we
will
still
have
professional
development
on
the
weeks
that
lead
up
to
a
progress
report,
and
that
is
because,
as
one
of
of
our
big
initiatives
is
rolling
out
parent
view,
grades
are
expected
to
be
kept
up
as
they
are
administered
and
assessed.
So
this
way
progress
reports
there
should
be
minimal
work
that
needs
to
be
done
as
long
as
those
grades
are
being
kept
up.
J
Child
Care
Solutions.
This
was
a
big
topic
within
our
implementation
team,
and
we
were
very
thankful
that
this
was
one
of
actually
the
easier
ones
to
come
to
a
solution
on.
There
will
be
no
changes
to
our
before
or
after
school
program,
we'll
still
begin
at
7,
A.M
and
all
of
our
sites
have
different
after
school
programs
that
they
offer
and
those
will
continue
to
move
on,
as
as
they
typically
are.
Our
preschool
already
continues
is
already
following
our
current
scholar
calendar.
So
there
will
be
no
changes
to
our
preschool.
J
We
do
have
Head
Start
within
our
district,
so
I
know.
Educational
Services
is
working
with
Head
Start
to
ensure
because
they
they
are
our
future
Scholars
and
Cartwright
that
they
begin
to
experience.
What
the
four-day
calendar
work
week
school
week
looks
like
for
them,
so
Head
Start
will
operate
under
a
four
day
as
well,
and
then
our
employee
daycare.
J
They
will
extend
their
hours
to
open
at
5
30
each
morning,
Monday
through
Thursday,
and
they
will
also
stay
open
until
5
PM,
and
so
this
is
to
ensure
that
esps
teachers,
anyone
who
utilizes
the
child
daycare,
has
opportunities
to
still
be
able
to
use
that
and
fulfill
their
professional
duties.
They
will
also
be
able
to
which
does
currently
reflect
their
summer
hours,
and
they
are
also
going
to
flex
the
staff's
hours
on
those
quarterly
Friday
professional
development
days.
J
So
with
our
staff
having
to
come
in
for
the
full
day,
the
daycare
will
work
with
their
staff
to
have
that
open
for
the
full
Friday
as
well
and
flex
the
time
for
their
staff
extracurricular
activities,
because
the
k-8s
in
the
middle
schools
have
a
big
chunk
of
our
extracurricular
activities.
There
really
will
not
be
any
changes
needed
to
be
made
for
after
school
clubs
or
sports
or
tutoring
for
them,
because
their
professional
development
will
be
in
the
morning
beginning
at
7
A.M.
So
after
school
extra
curriculars
can
continue
as
normal
for
sixth
grade.
J
We
will
need
to
make
some
adjustments
because
our
professional
development
will
be
after
school,
so
we'll
need
to
ensure
that
any
extracurriculars
at
the
k-6
level
will
need
to
be
moved
down
to
two
weeks,
because
we
need
to
ensure
that
we're
prioritizing
that
staff,
professional
development
and
for
Food
Services,
because
Head
Start
will
be
under
operating
under
our
new
scholar
week.
There
will
be
no
changes
to
Food,
Services
and
Sack.
I
No,
it
just
sounds
like
it's
like
a
lot
of
worry,
thank
you
for
sharing
that
just
overwhelming
for
me
just
personally,
but
but
I'm
glad
to
have
sort
of
been
here
to
hear
it.
Thank
you.
A
Thank
you,
Miss
Hernandez
I
do
have
a
couple
questions
fellow
governing
board
members,
Dr
Aguilar,
Lawler,
executive
team
cabinet,
everyone
in
attendance
and
all
of
those
viewing
on
YouTube
I
might
have
been
told
this,
but
I'm
curious.
Now,
because
I
can't
remember
what
districts
are
already
doing.
The
four
day
work
week
that
you
were
able
to
talk
with
so.
F
A
couple
of
the
districts
that
we
were
able
to
reach
out
to
Madam
president
is
Saddle.
Mountain
is
one
that
implemented
I'd,
say
I
think
five
years
ago,
or
so
they
implemented
their
four-day
work
week
and
then
Casa
Grande
just
implemented
their
40
work
week
this
school
year.
So
we
were
able
to
talk
to
both
and
gain
some
insights,
and
then
we
also
know
there
are
a
couple
other
school
districts
like
Liberty
that
is
getting
ready
to
implement
in
this
upcoming
year.
Much
like
us.
A
A
Oh
Boys
and
Girls
Club
takes
care
of
it.
Okay,
that
was
it.
It
does
sound
like
a
major
undertaking,
but
we
have
our
tag
team
on
it
yay.
So
we
have
faith
that
you
will
be
able
to
make
all
of
this
happen
and
I'm
excited
I
mean
who
doesn't
want
a
three-day
work.
You
know
three
day
weekend
and
exciting
because
our
staff
will
be
able
to
have.
A
You
know
that
extra
data
kind
of
relax
and
not
be
stressed
about
taking
time
off
to
go
to
the
doctor
or
an
appointment
and
I
know
our
Scholars
love
it.
Mine
does
it's
her
one
day
where
she
just
sleeps
all
day
and
then
I
come
home
and
she
wakes
up
so
I
know
I
mean
if
teachers,
if
you
want
to
sleep
on
your
Friday,
go
right
ahead,
because
it
is
something
that
I
would
love
to
do
and
that
I
know
one
of
our
prior
employees.
A
Miss
michella
Stevens,
absolutely
loves
to
take
a
nap.
So
please
use
your
Fridays
to
do
that
or
whatever
it
is
that
you
choose
to
do,
but
please
take
some
relaxation
we're
all
excited
about
it.
Don't
have
any
other
questions.
You
did
a
great
job
on
the
presentation
and
appreciate
all
of
the
work
that's
gone
into
this
and
what's
to
come
after.
So.
Thank
you,
gentlemen.
Thank
you.
H
All
right,
thank
you
board,
president
members
of
the
governing
board
executive
leadership,
team
principals,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching
on
YouTube.
The
next
presentation.
I
have
a
huge
saw,
I'm,
so
excited
that
the
next
presentation
was
what
if
the
AEL
wasn't
passed
and
as
you
all
know,
it
was
passed,
so
we're
very
excited
about
it.
So,
yes,
yes,.
H
So
I
do
want
to
say
that
our
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez
told
me
over
and
over
again
that
not
to
worry
so
I
I
was
trusting
her,
but
we
still
prepared
and
Victoria
is
going
to
present
what,
if
the
aggregate
expenditure
limit.
Thank
you.
E
E
Can
you
can
you
put
on?
Thank
you.
So
if
the
Senate
hadn't
acted
yesterday,
this
is
what
we
would
be
facing.
Had
they
not
done
their
due
diligence
by
March
1st,
so
obviously
hiring
freeze.
We
had
a
hiring
freeze
for
all
new
positions
that
were
vacated
or
vacant
this
school
year
we
weren't
going
to
fill
those
that
would
have
been
about
a
five
million
dollar
savings.
E
Furlough
Fridays.
You
know
we're
already
looking
into
going
into
a
four-day
work
week,
but
this
would
have
been
painful
because
that
would
have
been
a
reduction
in
pay
because
we're
all
on
a
five-day
work
calendar
still,
so
that
would
have
been
about
5.8
million
dollars
and
then
using
budget
reserves,
which
is
pretty
much
a
lot
of
classroom
site
fund,
which
we
don't
want
to
use,
because
that's
teacher
pay
to
make
up
the
rest.
So
at
least
I
have
a
plan
for
next
year
when
we're
in
this
situation
again.
But
you
know
we're.
E
K
E
So
yay
this
is
I'm.
Thank
you
very
much
legislature
for
for
doing
this.
For
us,
it's
very
well
appreciated
and,
and
we're
all
very
grateful.
H
Thank
you,
Victoria
and
I.
I
do
really
appreciate
your
work.
She's
been
very
stressed.
This
is
very
difficult
to
do,
but
you
did
a
great
job
all
right.
The
next
presentation
board
president
members
of
the
governing
board
executive
leadership,
team
principals,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching
on
YouTube.
H
The
next
presentation
is
about
the
digital
divide
and
ensuring
that
our
Scholars
have
access
to
the
internet
after
school
hours
at
home,
and
so
I
really
wanted
to
provide
an
update
today,
brief
update
with
our
governing
board
and
then
potentially,
depending
on
what
Victoria
I
think
she
has
some
hot
breaking
news.
Today
we
were
thinking
about
having
a
study
session
with
the
governing
board.
We
may
not
have
to
do
that.
We
may
still
need
it,
but
I'm
going
to
pass
it
over
to
Victoria
and
our
director
Perry
foreign.
E
Thank
you
board,
president
members
of
the
governing
board,
Dr
Aguila
I,
forgot
to
say
this.
The
last
time
I
talked
members
of
the
executive
team
and
everyone
in
attendance
and
person
and
online
I
received
a
lot
of
these
updates
on
what
is
the
digital
Education
Connection
canopy,
which
is
the
ECC
and
it's
kind
of
gone
through
a
different
name
and
I.
E
Don't
even
remember
the
name
now,
but
Phoenix
College
was
the
lead
agency
before
so
they're,
going
through
a
transition
process
right
now
where
Phoenix
Union
is
taking
over
from
Phoenix
College
and
because
of
the
transition
all
planned
work
has
stopped
because
we
were
already
going
into
phase
two
now
phase
one,
if
you
recall,
were
the
four
was
a
four
square
mile
testing
area,
and
that
was
all
in
our
district
and
those
devices.
Those
towers
are
up.
Those
devices
were
deployed
as
of
right.
E
Now
we
have
147
of
those
modems
assigned
to
homes
and
on
average
about
60
users
that
use
them
on
a
regular
basis.
So
this
is
still
a
a
that
doesn't
seem
like
high
usage,
but
I
was
speaking
with
Michelle
Gales
at
Phoenix
Union,
as
well
as
councilman
Pastor,
our
councilman
Pastor.
She
called
me
this
afternoon
about
an
hour
before
the
board
meeting,
so
just
to
kind
of
share
that
there
really
are
still
on
track
to
expand
this
project
and
prove
it.
It
can
be
successful
for
free
internet
service
for
our
for
our
families.
E
His
name
Robert,
he's
he's
now
you
know
transitioning
and
taking
over
from
Phoenix
Union
I
will
also
say
that
Phoenix
U
says
it's
going
to
be
a
phoenix
union-led
project
with
financial
support
from
the
city
of
Phoenix.
The
City
of
Phoenix
is
still
going
to
provide
the
funding.
It's
10
million
dollars
to
expand
both
of
the
high
schools
in
our
Geographic.
District
have
Towers
so
both
Brown
Trevor,
Brown
and
Maryvale
High
School
have
these
towers
and
they've
issued
devices
to
their
families.
E
So
the
request
is
that
we
meet
as
a
executive
team
like
Dr,
Lawler,
myself
and
members
from
Alhambra
from
Phoenix
Union
to
kind
of
go
over
the
next
steps,
because
it's
a
bit
of
a
shift
from
what
we
were
doing
before
you
know
basically
coordinating
directly
with
the
city
of
Phoenix
and
to
for
one
and
then
also
to
make
sure
that
our
building
principles
are
involved
in
the
process,
because
when
we
receive
notice
back
in
December
from
this,
the
Phoenix
College
individual
Mr
Paul
Ross
the
the
principles
weren't
involved
in
that
plan-
and
that's
not
very
that's
not
very
feasible
when
the
principals
are
responsible
for
their
campuses
and
what's
going
in
and
out
and
who's
going
in
and
out
and
all
because
we
have
Scholars
there.
E
So
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
keep
the
principles
involved.
I
had
I
I
did
state
that
we
were
still
looking
to
have
a
study
session
on
March,
2nd
that
might
I'm
so
hoping
we
can
do
that
myself
and
councilwoman's
pastor
and
Miss
Michelle
Gales
well
they're
going
to
have
to
coordinate
with
the
other,
like
Alhambra
off
the
top
of
my
head
to
to
get
this
first
meeting
done
to
have
a
study
session,
but
that
is
kind
of
the
update
right
now.
E
The
next
part
of
the
update
is
that
now
that
the
City
of
Phoenix
is
taking
over,
we
always
the
original
IGA
did
state
that
we
would
have
to
pay
a
maintenance
cost,
so
that
wasn't
unknown,
but
this
would
actually
codify
the
cost,
which
we
did
not
know
up
front.
So
you
know
we'll
we'll
actually
have
concrete
numbers
and
part
of
the
concern
that
Dr
Aguilar
Lawler
had
is
you
know
we
have
a
lot
of
the
private
companies
still
offering
discounted
internet
service,
so
why
would
this
necessarily
be
necessary?
E
You
know,
but
you
know,
for-profit
companies
are
for-profit
companies
at
the
end
of
the
day,
so
we
can
always
have
those
those
discussions
later,
but
this
would
be
an
ongoing
free
service
for
anyone,
K-12
and
potentially
the
college
if
they
decide
to
continue
to
be
on
board.
E
And
one
of
the
other
concerns
was,
you
know
the
Aesthetics,
and
we
didn't
speak
to
that
today.
But
then
that
would
be
part
of
the
process
of
working
with
building
principles
to
you
know
determine
exactly
what
those
Towers
look
like
how
tall
they
would
be,
how
they'd
be
designed
as
far
as
there's
a
lot
more
research
to
be
done
as
far
as
does
that
bring
out
property
values
in
the
in
the
neighboring
areas
because
of
the
the
towers.
H
Yeah,
thank
you
Victorian
and
board
president
members
of
the
board
audience
my
team
principles,
those
walking
watching
on
YouTube
and
in
here
in
the
boardroom,
for
the
building
principles.
H
A
E
A
board
president
members
of
the
governing
board,
Dr
Aguilar
Lawler
members
of
the
executive
team
and
everyone
in
attendance
of
person
and
online.
We
do
have
some
of
the
towers
already
at
our
site,
so
we
know
exactly
what
they
do
look
like
and
how
tall
they
are.
We've
actually
got
one
right,
where's
food
service
by
the
docks
right
over
here
that
that's
been
up
for
a
while.
So
we
know
what
they
look
like
it's
just
a
matter
of
where
they're
placed
and
and
making
sure
that
all
the
stakeholders
are
involved.
Moving
forward.
H
All
right
and
to
continue
Madam
president
members
of
the
governing
board
audience
my
team,
those
watching
on
YouTube
and
principals.
We
have
a
lot
of
celebrations.
First
of
all,
I
just
want
to
say
congratulations
again
to
our
national
board.
Certified
teachers,
but
I
didn't
know
if
you
knew
this,
but
Cartwright
Elementary,
School
District
ranked
the
second
highest
in
the
state
this
year
for
the
number
of
new
National
laborers.
Yes,
you
can
clap.
H
I
want
to
thank
our
principals
for
really
honoring
your
staff
and
and
really
promoting
them,
and
also
the
governing
board
for
every
year,
approving
the
national
board
program.
We
really
do
appreciate
it.
I
also
want
to
give
a
shout
out
to
Wendy
mariscal
and
add
Services,
who
put
a
lot
of
work
as
well
into
the
program
Educational
Services.
This
is
a
huge
huge
task.
Educational
Services
hosted
the
regional
9
spelling
bee
at
our
district
Training
Center.
Last
week
there
were
29
spellers,
representing
17,
different
local
school
districts.
H
Congratulations
to
those
District
Scholars
who
placed
first
through
third
congratulations
to
our
own
Scholars
for
your
accomplishments
and
hard
work,
making
it
to
the
regional
spelling
bee.
Those
are
Renee,
Vasquez,
Diego,
Sanchez,
Cortez
and
Alexander
donuts,
and
again
thank
you,
Educational
Services
and
Katie
wood
and
all
the
principals
who
attended
an
assistant
principals
for
this
amazing
event.
So
thank
you.
H
H
This
has
been
a
really
exciting
week.
As
you
know,
we
are
hosting
the
our
cities
hosting
the
Super
Bowl
this
week.
Desert
Sands
had
an
exciting
event,
sponsored
by
the
NFL
everfi,
the
character,
Playbook
speaker
series,
the
event
which
was
so
exciting
and
I
was
able
to
attend
a
great
portion
of
it
was
the
the
focus
was
Mental
Health
and
it
began
with
an
interactive
panel
of
panelists
from
the
NFL
former
linebackers
and
two
of
our
Desert
Sands
Scholars,
who
were
the
hosts
of
the
panelists.
H
Several
Scholars
were
there
from
their
newspaper.
They
covered
the
event
as
journalists.
If
you
hadn't
had
a
chance
to
see
the
desert
Sam's
Communications
newsletter.
It's
amazing
that
the
scholar
newsletter
there
were
many
fields.
Events
you
saw
all
the
NFL
events
that
were
happening.
Athletic
stations
really
just
to
teach
Scholars
how
physical
activity
can't
have
a
positive
positive
impact
on
their
mental
health
just
being
physical
again,
the
the
event
was
made
possible
by
the
work
of
Stacy,
Shellhammer,
Desert,
Sands,
counselor
staff,
Scholars,
Mr
Clark
and
the
whole
everfi
character.
H
H
And
then
at
the
last
minute,
because
of
the
work
that
the
counselor
did
to
bring
this
event
and
also
it
was
National,
it
is
National
Council
week,
yay
counselors,
we
love
our
counselors.
They
actually
surprised
the
counselor
with
two
Super
Bowl
tickets
for
the
game
wow,
and
so
that
was
really
exciting
and
I
think
she
was.
She
was
a
little
taken
back,
she's,
probably
cheering
right
now,
but
I
think
she
was
in
shock,
and
so
that
was
really
exciting.
H
H
I
also
want
to
thank
our
governing
board
Victoria
Farrar
and
our
business
services
team.
We
are
just
informed
this
week
that
the
s
p
has
affirmed
that,
because
of
our
outstanding
financial
planning,
we
will
continue
to
be
in
a
rating
status.
That's
awesome.
H
H
H
Please
congratulate
all
your
team.
That's
amazing
and
I
just
want
to
say.
The
last
thing
is
thank
you
to
jonath
long
for
these
beautiful,
beautiful
spirit
sweatshirts.
They
will
be
worn
with
prize
they're,
so
great
I
wish
I
had
it
earlier
today,
I
was
telling
principal
the
teeth
did
before
I
even
knew
I
had
these
that
I
was
cold
all
day
today.
This
would
have
come
in
handy.
So
thank
you.
L
A
Thank
you,
Dr
aguiler

with
that
we
will
move
on
to
item

which
is
our
other

discussion
items
item.
One
is
our

one
of
my
absolute
favorite
things
to
be
a
part
of
our

This
presentation
of
art
is
actually
outside
of
the
boardroom,
so
as
you're
walking
in
and
the
glass
cases.
That
is
where
this
is
located.
A
The
grade

fifth-
and
this
is
from
Starlight

kindergarten
and
first
graders
at
Starlight,

learned
about
clay
and
jewelry
making
to
make
their
shoe

clay
necklaces.
They
learned
about
clay
safety
when
handling
clay
and
watercolor
techniques.
Scholars
chose
to
make
either
a
necklace
or
bracelet
by
putting
their
Clay

pipe
cleaners
and
adding
beads
of
their
choice.
A
The
fourth

Fourth
and
fifth
graders
at
Starlight
Park
learned
about
dessert
pop
artist,
Wayne
Tebow
as
their
inspiration
for
their
ice
cream
cones.
They
looked
at
his
painting
of
ice
cream
cones
for
a
reference
point.
They
applied
sculpting
and
paper
mache
skills
to
create
their
own
ice
cream,
cone
bases
and,
lastly,
they
painted
them
in
either
their
favorite
flavor
of
ice
cream
or
a
weird
wacky
flavor.
A
Please
don't
try
to
take
a
bite
out
of
the
ice
cream
cones.
They
are
beautiful
and
very
delicious,
looking
so
great
job
to
all
of
our
Scholars
at
Starlight,
Park,
Starlight,

for
providing
us
such
a
beautiful

by
learning
about
New

Scholars
focused
on
symbols
that
are
used
around
the
world
to
celebrate
the
beginning
of
the

learned
about
the
Chinese

and
they
created

again
another
incredible
display.
If
you
have
an
opportunity,
please
feel
free
to
stop
by
take
a
look
at
it
and
enjoy
the
depth
in
the
different

that
were
applied
to

a
huge
thank
you
to
our

Thank
you
and
you
all
must
be
so
proud.
They
are
great
artists.
A
If
you
want
to
talk
about
it,
you
please
come
on
up.
I
will
give
a
basic
description.
It's
not
often
that
we
have
the
teacher
here.
Okay,.
A
And
I'm
just
going
to
read
the
description
and
then
you
can
share
some
more
with
us.
The
title
of
the
project
is
Super
Mario
Brothers
levels,
I
mean
who
didn't
love,
Super,
Mario,
Brothers
and
still
does,
except
when
you
encounter
King
Koopa
grade
level.
7Th
and
8th
grade
participated
here,
and
it
is
Cartwright

School
with
our
principal

with
like

and
the
description
is.
H
A
Let
the
record
reflect
the
governing
board.
Member
Miss
Lydia
Hernandez
has
arrived
in
the
boardroom
and
it
is
608
pm.
Thank
you.
7Th
and
8th
graders
studied
the
work
of
video
game
designer
Shigeru
Miyamoto.
They
studied
how
individual
levels
were
designed
constructed
and
programmed
in
1985's
whoa
Super
Mario
Brothers
Scholars
learned
about
tapping
into
a
phenomenon
known
as
transference,
wherein
a
game
developer
designs
their
levels,
construction
to
teach
the
player
how
to
perform
an
action
in
their
game.
A
Once
the
levels
were
built,
Scholars
passed
their
levels
onto
the
programmer
who
constructed
their
levels
into
a
playable
format,
which
you
can
see
and
can
play
right
here
in
the
governing
boardroom,
I'm
Mr
Simon.
If
there's
anything
else,
you'd
like
to
add
push
the
little
button
that
has
like
a
mouth
yeah.
M
Well,
first
off,
thank
you
so
much
for
for
inviting
me
up
here.
I
have
to
be
honest,
I
don't
have
any
prepared
comments.
Just
a
little
bit
of
background.
M
M
Originally,
the
project
was
designed
to
be
to
be
used
with
7th
and
8th
grade.
However,
we
also
had
the
opportunity
to
have
some
some
of
our
younger
students
as
young
as
third
grade.
So,
if
you
actually
look
over
in
or
if
you
go
to
play,
you
can
see
levels
from
not
only
this
year,
but
also
last
year,
as
well
as
20
20,
21
2021,
as
dating
as
far
back
to
as
excuse
me
tripping
over
my
tongue.
M
so
you're
able
to
play
levels
that
were
created
by
students
that
don't
even
go
to
our
school
district
anymore,
and
it's
just
it's
just
I-
think
it's
so
wonderful
that
they
were
able
to
to
create
something
that
not
only
can
be
seen
and
viewed
but
can
also
be
experienced,
because
what
it
boils
down
to
is
is
the
Arts
isn't
just
about
being
able
to
look
at
something
it's
also
being
able
to
experience
and
feel
something,
and
that
that
is
what
I
wanted
our
students
to
be
able
to
tap
into
not
only
being
able
to
create
something
you
can
look
at,
but
also
experience
and
feel
foreign.
A
Thank
you.
It's
not
every
day
that
we
have
principles,
yes,
but
we
don't
typically
have
get
to
experience
our
teachers
who
are
involved
in
the
process.
So
thank
you
for
being
here
and
you
guys
are
going
to
have
to
get
in
line
because
it's
only
one
player
and
the
left
side
works
and
it
really
works.
So
it's
really
cool
I'm
sure
it
will
be.
One
of
the
most
visited
art
displays
that
we've
had
in
our
district
office,
so
we'll
put
we'll
put
out
a
sign
up
sheet
for
everybody
just
as
an
FYI.
A
H
Thank
you
board,
president
members
of
the
governing
board
executive
leadership,
team
principals,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching
on
YouTube,
actually
I'm
gonna
tag
team
with
Victor
Hugo
Rodriguez,
who
attended
with
me.
It
was
a
phenomenal
conference.
H
We
had
several
presentations,
I'm,
not
gonna,
give
you
all
of
them,
but
I
just
felt
really
good
going
to
this
conference,
because
it
felt
like
we're
not
alone
in
Cartwright
when
we're
talking
about
our
funding
and
nationally
the
loss
of
enrollments,
not
just
a
Cartwright
problem.
This
is
a
national
problem
that
is
touching
everyone
across
the
United
States
and
basically,
and
in
very
simple
terms,
people
aren't
having
kids
anymore,
and
so
that's
a
big,
that's
a
big
issue
and
they
shared
with
us.
H
This
new
world
word
that
the
federal
government
is
going
to
continue
to
start
using.
So
if
you
hear
it,
it's
it's
some
acronym
called
Cutco
and
what
that
means
is
what
is
going
to
get
cut,
and
so
that
is
something
for
those
principles
that
are
in
the
room.
You
know
I'm
always
talking
about
this-
is
that
we
want
to
keep
our
programs
stellar
and
exemplary,
but
we
also
need
to
know
we
can't
afford
everything
that
we
want.
So
what
are
our
priorities
and
how
are
we
going
to
move
forward?
H
H
They
also
talked
about
the
Esser
funding,
and
this
is
our
last
year
coming
up
and
they
really
want
school
districts
Across
the
Nation,
to
really
focus
on
the
last
year
on
tutoring
and
summer
school.
H
However,
they
said
you
know,
the
districts
are
most
concerned
about
nationally
is
that
they
have
a
lot
of
salaries
and
people
still
in
Esser
right
now
and
I'm,
so
thankful
that
we've
done
the
work
and
we
are
trans.
We
have
transitioned.
We've
had
to
make
some
hard
decisions
transitioning,
but
that
is
something
that
they're
extremely
worried
about
nationally
is
that
school
districts
are
still
using
that
money
and
also
haven't
spent
all
that
money.
H
It
wasn't
supposed
to
be
saved
and
it's
not
going
to
be
extended,
and
so
I'll
just
tell
you
we're
not
we're
not
going
to
have
any
money
left
over,
so
we're
spending
it,
and
then
they
also
want
us
to
keep
an
eye
on
the
new
federal
funding.
That's
coming
out
with
all
of
those
bills
that
come
out
of
Congress
and
all
those
monies
that
are
coming
to
really
keep
an
eye
on
technology
initiatives
and
money.
H
That's
there
for
technology
and
the
digital
divide
that
we
talked
about,
and
also
transportation
and
infrastructure
as
school
districts.
What
is
in
the?
What
can
we
get
from
all
of
those?
You
know
we're
really
big
on
electric
buses,
and
so
what
can
we
do
to
ensure
that
we
are
writing
the
right
grants
in
order
to
to
receive
those
and
then
I'm
going
to?
Let
Victor
talk
more
about
the
communication
that
is
really
crucial
for
retention
of
our
staff
and
how
making
sure
our
message
is
clear
and
everything
we
do.
H
We
refer
to
our
three
District
goals,
which
you
know
we
updated
this
year:
maximizing
academic
achievement
and
Global
Readiness
for
all
Scholars,
promoting
family
engagement
and
showcasing
excellence,
and
promoting
social,
emotional
learning
and
Equity
to
ensure
scholar,
success
and-
and
most
importantly,
just
always
remembering
to
thank
everyone.
We
work
with
thank
our
staff
for
everything
they
do
but
I'm
going
to
pass
it
on
to
to
Victor
again
we
learned
so
much
a
lot
on
special
ed
and
we'll
talk
about
that
more
as
the
school
year
goes
on
and
next
year.
D
This
is
actually
my
first
thank
you
Dr
Lawler.
This
is
actually
my
first
time
attending
one
of
these
conferences
and
I
just
want
to
say
that
you
know
some
of
the
challenges
that
they
brought
up
during
this
conference
was
the
teacher
shortage.
Teachers
are
leaving
they're
retiring
they're,
leaving
the
profession
and
we're
not
recruiting,
at
the
same
rate
that
they're
leaving,
and
this
is
becoming
a
national
problem.
Another
challenge
that
you
know
the
war
facing
are
the
bills
that
are
getting
approved
of
the
state
level,
putting
restrictions
on
certain
subjects.
D
You
know
that
we
teach
in
public
education
in
Florida,
they
cannot
teach
AP
African-American
studies
anymore,
and
there
are
about
19
states
in
the
nation
that
have
laws
that
regulate
her
racism
or
issues
on
race
or
handle
in
the
classroom.
So
pretty
much.
You
know
this
is
the
the
the
moment
to
build
Bridges
with
families,
students,
community
members,
teachers
and
local
leaders,
Across
the
Nation,
and
the
other
concern
is
the
staff
shortage.
D
You
know
more
than
half
of
the
principals
said
that
their
schools
were
understaffed
at
the
start
of
the
current
school
year.
According
to
the
fall
2022
survey
by
the
U.S
Department
of
Education,
65
percent
of
the
schools
didn't
have
spatial
education
teachers,
so
this
is
also
becoming
another
issue,
because
they're
expecting
for
Congress
to
provide
funding.
You
know
they
supposed
to
be
we're
supposed
to
get
about.
40
percent
for
special
services,
and
apparently
that
is
that
is
not
happening.
D
So
the
bottom
line
is
to
promote
collaboration
in
trusting
relationships
between
parents,
schools
and
also
local
leaders,
but
overall
it
was
a
great
conference.
Despite
of
how
cold
and
windy
and
rainy
it
was
over
there,
we
were,
you
know
we
were
able
to
really
participate
in
a
lot
of
those
meetings,
but
it
was
for
me
it
was
an
eye-opener
just
to
see
that
a
lot
of
the
challenges
that
we're
facing
are
car
ride.
It's
something
that
is
happening.
D
You
know
Nationwide
one
of
the
superintendents
who
attended
the
meeting
she
had
to
even
after
the
pandemic.
They
lost
a
lot
of
students,
so
she
really
had
to
kind
of
accommodate
her
the
schedule.
So
that
way,
students
who
were
probably
working
and
couldn't
go
to
school,
so
they
had
to
change
the
schedule.
D
So
she
was
starting
at
noon
so
that
way
to
allow
students
to
be
able
to
kind
of
work
and
then
attend
classes,
but
it
was
really
something
that
is
being
happening,
Nationwide
where
losing
students
were
losing
teachers
and-
and
we
just
need
to
continue-
you
know,
advocating
the
local
and
National
level.
A
K
Good
evening
president
Hernandez
superintendent,
Aguilar
Lawler,
executive
team,
audience
members
and
those
watching
on
YouTube
I'm
happy
to
present
to
you
tonight
and
just
bring
you
an
update
on
our
textbook
adoptions
right
now.
We
have
two
going
on
simultaneously
for
both
music
and
Science,
and
we
have
two
processes
that
go
on
when
we
do
a
textbook
adoption.
One
is
an
RFP
process
and
one
is
the
textbook
adoption
process
both
of
those
have
statutory
pieces.
So
I'm
just
here
to
give
you
an
update
on
both
of
those.
K
We
have
currently
opened
the
RFP,
and
so
we
are
down
to
two
resources
for
music
and
three
for
science
and
those
displays
will
be
going
up,
and
this
is
probably
the
familiar
part
of
textbook
adoptions
right.
The
displays
will
be
going
up
for
all
of
those
resources
that
all
of
our
school
sites,
as
well
as
district
office,
we're
just
waiting
on
those
resources
to
all
be
delivered,
and
the
new
part
of
our
textbook
adoption
that
we've
added
is
that
we're
also
going
to
have
a
robust
website
from
that.
K
K
So
we're
trying
to
encourage
as
much
engagement
as
humanly
possible
with
these
resources
to
get
lots
of
feedback
from
our
and
our
parents
and
our
community,
and
thank
you
to
Ryan
Anderson
he's
been
great
working
with
our
science
team,
with
Jane
Ardell
and
Carrie
Munsell
to
get
all
of
that
set
up
and
then
working,
of
course,
with
Brock
Higley,
who
does
all
of
our
website
stuff
to
get
that
up
and
running.
K
So
that's
that's
coming,
and
then,
let's
see
next
on
the
next
piece
of
this
is
that
we
have
to
meet
with
our
textbook
adoption
committee.
So,
along
with
that,
comes
a
public
meeting,
so
that's
required
by
Statute.
So
you
will
see
in
your
board
docs
a
public
meeting
notice.
That
is
not
a
governing
board,
meaning
that's
a
textbook
adoption
committee
meeting.
So
certainly
anybody
is
welcome
to
attend
that.
K
Just
like
our
governing
board
meetings,
it
will
be
a
posted
meeting,
just
like
a
governing
board
meeting
and
it
will
take
place
on
February
24th
in
our
training
center
I.
Don't
recall
the
exact
time
off
the
top
of
my
head,
but
it
will
be
posted
just
like
our
governing
board
meetings.
Anybody
is
welcome
to
attend
and
we'll
be
meeting
with
our
textbook
adoption
committees
and
going
over
the
processes
Etc
with
them
and
their
role
in
this.
This
textbook
adoption.
K
So
we're
very
excited
about
that,
and
then
we
hope
to
bring
the
final
and
best
resource
to
you
for
approval
to
one
of
our
April
meetings.
C
A
G
Yeah
good
evening,
Madam
president
members
of
the
board,
Dr
Aguilar
Lawler,
executive
team
members
and
all
those
in
attendance
and
also
on
YouTube,
just
wanted
to
give
an
update
on
the
progress
of
the
revitalization
of
our
community
garden
space
with
the
weather,
starting
to
warm
up
just
a
little
bit,
and
we
anticipate
in
the
coming
weeks.
It'll
start
accelerating
a
little
bit
more.
G
Our
buildings
and
operations,
team
and
Food
Services
team
have
been
collaborating
to
start
to
do
a
lot
of
the
prep
work
to
get
our
community
garden,
ready
to
start
hosting
a
lot
of
community
engagement
events
as
we
go
into
the
spring.
So
some
of
the
work
that
has
been
taking
place
in
preparation
is
at
the
North
End
of
the
community
garden
space
just
across
from
the
public
library
and
the
Maryvale.
The
community
center
is.
G
My
new
irrigation
system
has
been
installed
our
sprinkler
system
so
that
we're
prepared
once
the
weather
starts
to
consistently
hit
mid,
70s
low
80s,
we'll
be
able
to
seed
that
area
to
the
just
to
the
north
of
the
solar
panels.
To
restore
some
nice
green
Bermuda
grass
there
that
we
can
have
and
start
to
also
install
some
new
gazebos
that
were
purchased
and
some
benches
from
some
Grant
funds
that
we
received
through
our
Gila
River
Indian
Community
Grant
through
the
city
of
Phoenix
last
year.
G
So
we
have
those
items
ready
to
be
put
out
there
to
create
some
natural
and
instructional
spaces
to
be
able
to
host
different
educational
opportunities
for
our
Scholars
and
for
our
community
to
the
south
of
the
solar
panels.
We've
begun
to
many
of
the
garden
beds
that
had
been
installed.
A
lot
of
the
wood
had
started
to
rot,
and
many
of
the
many
of
the
decorative
decorative
metal
ornaments
that
had
been
installed
had
started
to
rust
out
so
for
safety
reasons.
A
lot
of
those
couldn't
be
salvaged.
G
G
G
That
has
been
partnering
with
us
in
this
to
be
able
to
start
purchasing
some
new
garden
beds
or
right
now
we're
trying
to
Source
some
local
builders
that
can
build
us
some
new
garden
beds
and
lay
it
out
in
a
design
that
will
allow
us
that
are
that
will
allow
us
to
maintain
the
space
a
little
bit
easier
with
our
building
and
operations
team
and
our
b
o
team
in
that
area
will
also
start
doing
some
pre-emergence
to
make
sure
that
we
eliminate
the
amount
of
weeds
that
grow
in
and
we're
able
to
put
some
nice
topsoil
in
that
new
in
that
new
space
to
allow
for
Ada
access
and
that's
aesthetically
pleasing.
G
G
Just
so
that
we
have
some
walking
spaces
for
families
for
and
for
families
to
be
able
to
go
in
and
just
kind
of
Take
a
Walk
do
some
exercises
and
we're
getting
a
lot
of
good
collaboration
and
ideas
from
our
partners
that
are
that
are
working
with
us
in
terms
of
ideas
for
a
kickoff
event.
Once
all
of
this
is
in
place,
and
we
have
it
in
good
working
order
to
be
able
to
introduce
to
to
our
community.
A
A
You
know
the
governing
board
plaque
that
we
had,
that
was
in
the
community
garden.
Yes,.
J
G
A
I
didn't
think
so.
Okay,
thank
you.
Thomas
I
appreciate
that
not
a
biggie
I
was
just
curious
and
the
track
that's
going
to
be
on
the
outer,
but
on
the
inside
of
the
fence.
Yes,.
A
It'll
hug
the
fence
line:
okay,
yes
I,
suppose
that
will
be
all
my
questions
for
now
and
I'll
ask
more
at
a
later
date.
Well,
except
for
this
one,
the
community
garden
we've
worked
on
for
so
many
years.
The
the
the
current
chain
link
fence.
A
G
So
as
we
address
our
fencing,
our
fencing
improvements
across
the
district,
one
of
the
proposals
that
we
had
around
Tarver
did
include
surrounding
surrounding
the
community
garden,
as
we
went
along
the
north
side
and
down
the
back
side
of
Tarver
and
then
connecting
into
Atkinson.
So
as
we
continue
to
work
on
our
fencing
improvements,
that
is
an
area
that
we
had
in
mind
for
upgrading.
A
And
this
might
actually
be
Thomas
the
things
that
were
there
from
the
prior
from
prior
Community
Garden
events
that
were
there
from
the
fire
department
and
the
police
department
when
they
came
out
and
built
like
benches
and
some
of
the
garden
beds
did
those
were
those
things
able
to
be
probably
not
the
garden
beds.
But
the
bench
I
know
the
bench
that
you're,
specifically
speaking
about
that,
was
able
to
be
saved.
A
A
That
had
happened
to
have
some
like
not
even
a
working
bus.
We
can
talk
about
it
another
time,
but
not
even
it
didn't
even
have
to
be
wouldn't
even
have
to
be
a
working
bus.
It
would
just
be
cool.
You
know
if
we
had
one
bus
that
we
had
out
of
commission
and
we
just
brought
him
back
we'll
talk
about
it,
another
time,
Dr
Medrano.
A
Thank
you.
You're.
G
A
Item
number
five:
is
our
update
on
governing
board
requests
regarding
feminine
hygiene
products
and
supplies.
Dr
Medrano.
G
Yes,
Madam
president
members
of
the
board,
Dr
Aguilar,
Lawler
and
executive
team
at
our
last
governing
board
meeting
board
member
abathia
had
brought
up
an
organization
that
provides
feminine
hygiene
products
that
can
be
very
use
very
helpful
for
our
families
that
that
have,
you
know
economically
need
some
addition.
G
Some
support
to
be
able
to
have
easier
access
to
to
those
items
and,
along
with
those,
what
that
question
was
what
do
we
do
within
our
schools
to
provide
that
and
I
was
able
to
reach
out
to
our
lead
nurse
Judy
Evans,
just
to
kind
of
ask
what
our
process
looked
like
and
what
she
had
shared
with
me
is
that
we
do
have
some
established
vendors
that
we
regularly
order
from
so
that
we're
keeping
our
nurse's
office
consistently
stocked
with
feminine
hygiene
products.
G
Nurse
Evans
has
been
on
their
website
and
kind
of
looking
at
what
the
procedure
is
for
being
able
to
access
the
the
free
packs
of
feminine
hygiene
products,
and
there
is
a
a
link
on
there
to
be
able
to
go
in
and
submit
orders
for
them
to
receive
these
free
packs
for
our
for
our
students.
There's
a
very
high
demand
for
them
right
now.
G
So
when
she
went
in
it's
not
it's
not
available
right
now
to
be
able
to
make
requests,
because
they're
kind
of
in
a
backlog
and
trying
to
get
caught
up
with
their
current
requests.
But
she
is
checking
in
regularly
to
see
one
that
becomes
available
so
that
we
can
order
from
that
and
have
have
more
Supply
available
to
us
at
our
schools.
A
A
E
Thank
you,
president
Hernandez
members
of
the
governing
board,
Dr
Aguilar
Lawler,
members
of
the
executive
team
and
everyone
in
attendance
in
the
audience
and
online.
This
is
a
proposed
first
reading
of
policy
dkc,
which
is
expense
reimbursement
after
Dr
Etheridge
did
a
really
thorough
review
of
the
policy,
the
travel
policy
and
expense
reimbursement
policy.
After
the
auditor
I'm
sorry,
the
department
of
administration
updated
their
reimbursement
rules
and
rates
in
January.
E
E
I
pulled
some
information
from
other
districts
to
see
how
their
items
were
worded
and
added.
Some
additional
Clarity
on
any
expenses
made
with
a
district
issued
credit
card
to
keep
everyone
compliant
and
safe.
A
Thank
you,
Miss
Ferrara,
any
questions
perfect.
Moving
on
to
item
six,
which
is
our
we
will
have
a
video.
It
is
the
field
service
Grant
awarded
to
the
Cartwright
School
District
by
the
Arizona
Cardinals,
the
NFL
Foundation
Grassroots
program
and
the
local
initiative
support
Corporation
lisc.
This
is
presented
by
Mr
Victor
Hugo
Rodriguez.
D
Good
evening
again,
Madam
president
Dr
Aguilar
Lawler
covered
in
board
members
executive
team
and
those
in
the
audience
and
on
YouTube
I
want
to
take
you
back
to
this
wonderful
event
that
happened
on
Tuesday
at
the
Easter
Sands
Middle
School,
Academy,
Academy
of
mass
communications
and
journalism,
the
NFL
ever
five
Alonso
United
Way.
They
helped
a
program
to
teach
our
students
all
about
mental
health,
and
this
is
the
video
please
enjoy
it.
N
So
when
we
do
events
like
these,
we
like
to
come
together
with
the
community
and
make
sure
that
schools,
Educators
students,
families,
everybody
know
that
we're
in
this
together.
This
event
today
is
highlighting
one
key
component
of
that,
and
that
is
mental
Wellness
thinking
about
through
the
mental
health
component
of
physical
health
component
and
how
they
can
meld
together,
so
that
students
know
that
they
have
the
power
to
tackle
whatever
comes
towards
them
and
also
the
community
cares
for
them.
H
B
Important
because
mental
health
can
probably
well
pa
can
affect
someone's
actions
how
they
act
towards
other
people,
how
they
feel
about
themselves.
They
just
don't
realize
how
important
they
are
to
other
people.
They
don't
realize
their
importance
to
like
this
whole
world
and
many
kids
like
are
bullied
or
like
they
get
down
on
themselves.
Even
though,
like
we
are
the
future
like
we
we're
the
Next
Generation
and
we're
like
hope
thing
that,
like
we
could
do
something
better
for,
like
the
whole
world,.
P
With
this
event,
and
allowing
us
to
have
the
money
that
we
receive
to
put
money
more
more
money
into
the
field
is
really
important,
because
the
students
are
going
to
have
an
opportunity
to
utilize
the
field
for
years
to
come,
and
it's
going
to
be
a
place
for
them
to
play
soccer.
It's
going
to
be
a
place
for
them
to
do
track
and
field.
It's
going
to
give
them
a
lot
of
different
opportunities
and
and
they'll
be
a
part
of
a
team.
P
P
Around
with
it
at
the
beginning,
because
I
was
like
it's
my
birthday
and
maybe
I
should
get
something
cool
at
the
beginning
of
that,
back
I
did
think
it
was
really
gonna
happen.
You
mean
all
this
stuff.
We
asked
you
to
do
at
FDL
in
the
morning.
You
guys
really
did
a
really
good
job
of
working
on
that
and
getting
70
or
higher,
and
that's
why
you
guys
are
here
thanks
guys,
foreign.
D
During
this
event,
that's
when
Desert
Sands,
Middle
School
was
awarded
a
100
000
I'm,
going
to
ask
Dr
Lawler
and
then
the
governing
board.
If
you
can,
please
join
me
as
long
as
you
know:
Dr
Mr
Clark,
if
you
could
please
join
us,
we're
gonna
we're
gonna
capture
this
moment
see
what
happens.
B
A
I
know
I'm,
like
good
luck,
cashing
that
big
check
at
the
bank,
but
very
well
deserved,
and
just
what
desert
sands
needed
during
the
Rejuvenation
period
over
there
so
very
exciting,
and
congratulations
tell
your
counselor.
Congratulations
as
well
on
her
tickets
to
the
Super,
Bowl
and
hopefully
they'll.
Let
her
keep
those
giant
ones,
because
those
are
cool
too
all
right.
A
C
Thank
you,
madam
president.
Dr
agler
Lawler
fellow
board
members,
all
those
in
attendance
and
Kevin
it
if
it
be
the
will
of
the
board.
I
would
like
to
know
if
we
could
have
an
update
with
the
sros
and
the
process
in
which
they
are
utilizing
in
tracking
the
absenteeism
as
well
as
the
stop
the
bleed,
and
that
would
be
it
for
me.
A
And
now,
for
the
moment
that
we
have
all
been
waiting
for
item
I,
which
is
our
announcement
of
sorry,
I
stepped
ahead
too
far.
The
item
before
the
item
that
we've
all
been
waiting
for
item
I
is
our
announcement
of
future
meeting
data
and
other
routine
information
concerning
the
governing
board.
The
regular
sorry,
the
next
regular
governing
board
meeting
will
be
held
on
Thursday
March,
2nd
at
five
o'clock
P.M
at
the
Cartwright
School
District
boardroom,
and
now
the
moment
item
J
is
adjourning.
A
I
At
least
we're
able
to
share
and
even
text
our
whether
there
are
members
of
the
same
party
or
not
to
provide
some
input
so
do
know,
although
I'm
not
assigned
to
it
when
I'm
watching
it
just
happens
to
have
that
that
block
of
time,
when
I'm
in
the
office
and
I'm
watching
to
the
you
know
those
be
being
attentive
to
those
and
responding
to
some
of
those
I'm
engaging
verbally
with
the
TV,
but
but
do
know
that
that
I
believe
and
I'm,
as
I
mentioned
before,
when
we
saw
when
we
see
certain
sponsors.
I
You
know
we
I'm
very
optimistic
that
that
we
have
good,
grounded
folks
in
both
parties.
That
I
think
it's
going
to
take
a
while
right.
It
always
does
they
try
to
pull
their
their
stunts
in
getting
it
and
getting
something
passed
immediately.
But
we
were
able
to
to
to
engage
at
that
level
and
put
a
stop
to
it,
because,
because
it
is
so
close
in
in
membership
with
both
parties
that
they're
gonna,
we
need
each
other.
I
So
I
just
wanted
to
show
that
and
share
that
and
I
remain
very
optimistic.
Still
I
got
my
bills
assigned
to
committees
so
great
celebration,
because
I
I
thought
well
I
just
want
some
to
you
know
at
least
they
get
me
to
participate
and
engage
in
they
got
assigned
so
looking
forward
to
it.
I'll
keep
you
posted.
A
