C
C
Good
evening
and
Welcome
to
our
September
22nd
regular
meeting
of
the
Chandler
city
council
I
can
apologize.
We
had
a
work
session
that
was
engaging
and
just
kept
us
there
longer
than
to
get
here
to
start
this
in
time.
So
with
this
I'd
like
to
call
our
meeting
to
order
and
clerk,
please
take
the
role
mayor.
C
D
C
E
E
We
pray
for
our
men
and
women
in
uniform
our
firefighters
and
our
police
officers
who,
on
a
daily
basis,
put
their
life
on
the
line
to
protect
and
defend
us,
we're
so
thankful
for
that
service
God.
Most
of
all,
we
thank
you
for
who
you
are,
and
we
look
to
you
for
the
wisdom
that
we
need
your
grace
and
your
favor
may
it
be
upon
our
nation
and
our
community,
and
we
pray
this
in
the
name
of
your
son,
who
loved
us
and
gave
himself
for
us,
amen,
amen.
F
C
C
G
I
wouldn't
comment
and
then
move
for
approval,
but
I
just
want
to
congratulate
those
that
are
being
appointed
towards
commissions.
Did
you
try
to
recognize
them
every
time
they
come
up
because
I
think
in
in
our
community?
We
need,
as
many
people
involved,
to
get
the
inputs
and
insights
from
all
around
our
community
so
to
Cecil
and
Zoe.
Thank
you
for
stepping
up
and
willing
to
serve
our
community.
So
with
that
I
move
for
the
approval
of
the
channel
city
council,
regular
meeting
agenda,
our
consent
items
for
Thursday
September
22nd
items,
one.
G
C
All
right,
Council,
any
recusals
or
or
further
discussion
council.
H
Member
Orlando,
thank
you
mayor
on
item
five
I
don't
deal
with
this
softball
organization,
but
I
may
in
the
future.
So
I
will
go
ahead
and
have
a
conflict
of
interest
on
this
one
and
then
I
can't
find
the
Utopia
one.
I
have
a
conflict
convention
on
oh
right
number,
25
I
knew
it
was
it
was
there
I
have
my.
As
you
know,
I
have
a
relative
that
lives
in
that
area
and
I've
been
consistently
trying
to
avoid
that
issue
all
along.
So
I
love
that
group,
but
I
want
to
be
maintained.
H
I
consistently,
conflict,
okay,.
D
C
All
right,
sorry,
bad
Star,
Trek,
birthstone
or
whatever
Wars
all
right,
we've
got
some
next
on
our
agenda
is
announcements
I'll
be
starting?
We
are
looking
for
volunteers
for
for
our
city
day,
which
will
be
coming
up.
October
22nd,
which
we
discovered
this
morning.
C
That's
when
everything
else
is
also
happening
in
the
community
of
Chandler,
but
it's
a
great
opportunity
to
serve
our
community
together
and
with
this
we'll
be
taking
on
a
new
part
of
our
community
Pepperwood
neighborhood,
which
is
West
Chandler
working
on
about
50
plus
houses
out
there
and
volunteers
come
and
join
us
enjoying
my
paint
crew,
if
you
so
choose,
but
we're
looking
for
volunteers,
we'll
be
painting
homes,
waiting
yards
and
cleaning
the
Pepperwood
neighborhoods.
C
C
Secondly,
I'd
like
to
give
congratulations
to
a
Chandler
educator,
rocked
enough.
Many
of
us
know
her
as
as
an
extremely
Innovative
and
High
performing
teacher,
but
the
secret
has
gotten
out.
She
is
now
being
recognized
across
the
state
and
she's
received
national
awards,
she's
going
to
be
honored
next
week
as
the
educator
a
year
at
the
AZ
bio
Awards
is
a
teacher
at
Arizona
College
Prep.
She
teaches
Chandler
students
how
to
be
innovators
and
under
her
programs,
students
have
have
two
patents
pending
and
six
provisional
patents.
So
congratulations
to
rocknell.
C
Thirdly,
speaking
of
National
recognition,
my
brand
new
favorite
restaurant,
which
I'll
never
be
able
to
go
to
again
because
it's
going
to
be
too
crowded,
is
called
taylies.
I
hope
I
pronounced
that
right,
t-h-a-I-l-y-s
they're
at
404,
East,
Chandler
Boulevard,
just
the
other
side
of
the
railroad
tracks.
C
This
week
this
restaurant
made
the
New
York
Times
top
50
restaurants
in
the
United
States
yeah
I
recommend
the
chickened
spicy
curry.
It
is
amazing,
but
the
whole
everything
is
good.
It's
a
wonderful
Fusion
of
Asian
and
Middle
East
Eastern
dishes.
So
we
want
to
say
congratulations
to
to
the
cambars.
C
Thirdly,
I
think
several
others
are
going
to
be
chiming
in
on
this
as
well:
Contigo
Festival,
so
next
Friday
not
tomorrow,
but
next
Friday
we'll
be
having
our
second
amazing
event
related
to
this
at
Galveston
Elementary
School.
It's
going
to
feature
live
performances,
resources,
activities
for
kids
and
food
trucks,
Leah
Powell.
Are
you
going
to
be
Manning
a
juice
truck
again,
all
right
admission
is
free.
Everyone
is
welcome
and
this
will
be
happening
from
five
to
nine
on
Friday
September
30th.
It's
an
outstanding
event
and
I
hope
you
consider
joining
us
there.
F
Mayor
I
heard
there
was
going
to
be
a
dunk
tank
and
I
heard
that
you
supposed
to
be
participating
in
that
I.
Don't
know
rumors.
F
I'm
looking
forward
to
it
they're
doing
a
great
job
with
diverse
Equity
inclusion.
As
you
all
know,
breast
cancer
awareness
month
is
coming
up.
October
is
Breast
Cancer
Awareness
Month
an
annual
campaign
to
increase
awareness
of
the
disease.
The
goal
is
to
set
as
many
people
as
possible
involved
in
raising
awareness
and
funds
to
help
support
life-saving
research
and
life-changing
support.
Breast
cancer
is
the
most
common
cancer
among
American
women,
except
for
skin
cancer.
It
is
estimated
that
in
2022,
approximately
30
percent
of
all
new
women
cancer
diagnosis
will
be
breast
cancer.
F
There
are
over
3.8
million
breast
cancer
survivors
in
the
United
States.
My
mother
was
a
breast
cancer,
cancer
survivor
and
I
know.
You
know
this
is
a
very
important
and
the
awareness
and
education
to
get
out
there
is
super
critically
important
and
also
we
I
will
be
talking
to
stage
four
cancer
I
don't
want
to
call
them
survivors,
but
people
who
are
still
in
the
stages
of
fourth
level
cancer.
F
On
on
the
show
on
my
power
conversation
I
have
a
talk
show
with
the
city,
that's
called
Power
conversations
and
there's
two
women
that
I
interview
who's.
Currently,
in
stage
four
cancer-
and
they
talk
about
where
they
are,
what
they're
doing
to
help
others
that
are
in
the
same
Lane,
pretty
impactful
organization
that
should
air
like
the
first
Friday
of
October
and
also
you
can
catch
it
on
the
YouTube
on
the
city
YouTube
channel.
But
it's
it's
pretty
powerful,
it's
pretty
emotional,
so
embrace
yourself.
F
It's
it's
a
good
conversation,
but
also
it
it
does
raise
the
level
of
education
and
awareness.
And,
lastly,
as
too
many
things
is
happening
on
October
22nd,
along
with
for
our
city
Ready
set,
go
we'll
be
having
a
mental
health
walk
which
is
being
sponsored
by
Spike
Lawrence
Bill
Ryan.
We
semicolon
Society,
not
my
kid.
We
have
like
15
other
not-for-profit
organizations
that
will
be
participating,
which
will
be
October
22nd.
You
can
register
for
free
to
be
a
part
of
the
Walk.
F
Many
of
the
organizations
that's
going
to
be
gathering
is
going
to
start
approximately
nine
o'clock.
The
walk
will
happen
at
nine
and
it'll
go
to
about
9,
30
and
then
they'll
come
back
and
then
there'll
be
some
conversations
around
Mental
Health
on
breast
cancer
awareness,
as
well
as
suicide
awareness.
As
well,
and
so
that
should
go
to
about
11
o'clock,
but
it's
going
to
be,
we
have
over
150
people
that
have
already
registered
for
an
October
22nd
mental
health
walk.
F
So
please
come
if
you
can
also
do
for
our
city
as
well,
because
I'm
going
to
do
for
our
city
as
well
that's
important
to
give
back
to
our
community.
It
starts
early,
6
30
in
the
morning.
It
goes
to
1
30.
This
should
only
be
about
an
hour
and
a
half
of
your
time.
F
G
Thank
you.
So,
as
the
mayor
mentioned,
with
the
continual
kickoff
that
happened
last
weekend,
we
are
now
in
National
Hispanic
Heritage
Month,
which
is
does
go
from
September
15th
to
October
15th.
Now
it
was
started
under
President
Lyndon
Johnson
back
in
1968
and
was
suspended
to
a
30-day
period
a
one
month,
long
Celebration
by
President
Reagan
in
1988..
G
So
again,
last
weekend
we
had
our
kickoff,
the
kotigo
kicked
off
and
we
had
this
month-long
celebration
with
bilingual
story
time
in
the
park
there:
animated
Kitty,
kids
movies
and
funds
and
arts
activities
with
the
crafty
chica.
So
if
you'd
like
to
learn
more
as
the
activities
are
going
throughout
this
month,
you
can
go
to
Chandler
az.gov
forward.
Slash
diversity.
G
A
G
So
we
have
one
here:
John
anyone
else
involved
in
water
in
the
staff,
so
preemptively.
Thank
you
for
those
water
staff
that
may
be
listening
in
again.
Thank
you
for
all
the
sacrifices
you've
had
to
make
in
order
to
make
sure
that
we
have
safe,
clear,
clean
drinking
water.
Not
everybody
has
it
again
not
just
again
globally
in
third
world
countries,
but
even
in
the
United
States
as
we're
discovering
water
is
very
critical
to
everybody
and
we've
done
a
great
job.
G
So
thank
you,
John
and
all
of
his
staff
and
Simone
that's
been
helping
me
on
amwa
for
the
last
six
years
again,
we've
got
a
great
great
staff
and
and
good
clean
drinking
water.
So
thank
you
to
the
staff.
Thank
you.
D
That's
very
thank
you.
Mayor
I
was
out
there
at
Contigo
with
you,
and
we
got
up
got
a
chance
to
address
some
of
the
people
that
were
there
and
we
did
fail
to
recognize
a
staff
member
Victor
Hardy
and
he
was
out
there
in
the
in
the
audience,
and
so
my
apologies
we'll
we'll
catch
up
with
you
next
time
and
but
Anna
giant.
Thank
you,
the
staff
and
and
team
Chandler.
This
is
a
great
City.
You
make
us
look
good
every
day
and
I.
Thank
you!
That's
it.
I
Cut
some
umbrellas.
Thank
you
mayor
again.
It's
everybody's
talking
about
Contigo,
but
what
really
impressed
me
on
that
night
is
of
course,
I
was
on
the
stage.
Also
not
only
that
I
spoke
about
my
Heritage
as
being
a
Latina,
but
what
impresses
me
the
most
was
the
fact
that
we
had
the
schools
there
and
every
one
of
those
clubs
participate.
I
We
had
the
Hamilton
High
School
there
with
the
maker
club
members
Joanna
Castillo,
and
she
also
was
one
of
the
sponsors
we
had
Castile
a
high
school
there
with
Castile
Spanish
club
Jackson
egbangers
sponsor
was
also
there
in
attendance.
We
had
the
latinx
club,
Evelyn,
Anderson
and
sponsor
was
also
attending.
We
had
the
Perry
High
School
there.
The
club
was
so
Sierra
honoria
Hispanic
was
there,
so
they
were
all
in
attendance.
One
two
of
the
sponsors
were,
there
was
Noma
Rios
and
Maria
wrong.
Bashas
was
also
there
with
their
clubs.
I
I
She
is
doing
an
amazing
job
regarding
the
DI
office
concerning
these
groups
and
these
clubs,
each
one
of
those
club
members
they're
being
awarded
two
hundred
dollars
to
do
something
in
their
club
for
participating
into
this
thing
that
we
did
on
Saturday.
So
it
was
amazing
to
have
them
there.
Lastly,
Happy
Mexican
Independence
Day
I
had
an
opportunity
to
be
invited
by
the
General
Consul
General
Jorge
he's
a
friend
he
invited
me.
So
the
big
event
was
at
Phoenix
City
Hall.
It
was
an
amazing
event,
but
people
from
all
over
Arizona
there.
I
It
was
an
amazing
thing,
fun
fact:
independence
day
is
September
16th,
not
May,
5th
Cinco
de
Mayo.
For
those
of
you
who
don't
know
I'm
making
sure
that
you
understand
that
Mexico
Independence
is
the
second
a
two-day
celebration.
September
15
is
a
reenactment
of
el
grito,
the
Los
Dolores,
which
is
the
cry.
The
Dolores
September
16,
is
then
a
grand
celebration
for
Dia
de
la
independencia,
similar
to
the
4th
of
July
in
the
United
States,
so
really
kind
of
change.
Your
mindset
about
this
then
Cinco
de
Mayo
is
not
Independence
Day
for
Mexico.
H
But
I'm
going
to
talk
about
chickens
because
you
started
talking
about
chickens
right,
so
a
Monday
night
session.
We
had
a
really
good
discussion
about
backyard
chickens
and
the
process
right
going
forward
will
be
planning.
H
November
come
back
to
the
council
for
a
final
vote
or
you
know
for
option
under
this
ordinance.
Anyone
that
lives
in
a
single
family
home
will
be
able
to
own
chickens.
No
rooster
will
be
allowed
and,
of
course,
HOA
still
maintain
the
Restriction
to
allow
or
not
allow
chickens.
But
you
know
one
of
the
things.
We
really
really
want
your
input
on
your
feedback
on,
and
so
we
set
up
a
hotline
about
a
few
months
ago.
H
We've
gotten
a
few
people
respond,
so
I
thought
it'd
be
important
that
we
we
get
this
hotline
out
to
you.
It's
chandleraz.gov,
backslash
backyard
chickens
and
give
us
your
feedback
I.
Just
it's
important
for
us
to
know
what
your
thoughts
are
about,
having
chickens
in
Chandler
and
that's
as
much
I'm
gonna
say
about
chickens
mayor.
