From YouTube: CHAOSS DEI Working Group 5-5-21
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
People
will
join
as
they
join
so
hi.
Everybody
welcome
to
the
may
5th
2021
dei
work
group
chaos
working
group
call
minutes
should
be
in
the
chat.
A
A
So
I
would
like
to
say
thanks
to
ruth
and
thanks
to
matt
snell
matt
cantu,
who
submitted
the
ato.
I
think
it's
on.
I
think
it's
on
dei
badging
like
fundamentally
about
that.
So
that's
awesome
and
I
think
they're
also
going
to
be
submitting
to
oss
seattle.
So
that's
that's
great.
So
just
thanks
to
them
and
hopefully
it
gets
accepted.
A
B
A
A
Elizabeth,
yes,
that's
awesome
and
I
think
there's
one
going
through
the
process
right
now
with
respect
to
badging
that's
kind
of
working
its
way
through,
and
I
think
it's
actually
close
to
being
done.
So
that's
that's
nice
as
well.
Yesterday
we
had
the
chaos
board
meeting
and
we
were
able
to
highlight
the
success
of
the
dei
badging
initiative,
so
that
was
pretty
awesome.
It's
pretty
nice
to
show
it
to
folks
who
maybe
haven't
seen
it
before
and
so
great
success.
There
awesome
any
questions
or
comments.
Elizabeth
or
anita.
C
Well,
none
at
the
moment
yesterday
we
had
we
had
to
go
for
a
conference
that
was
yeah
the
magic
in
making
creating
open
source
marketing
resource
workshop
and
yeah.
It
was
an
amazing
one,
as
we
talked
about
the
budget
initiative
and
how
we
could
companies
could
market
using
the
budget
initiative
as
well.
C
Oh
okay,
it
was
creating
open
source
marketing
resource
workshop.
I
think
yeah.
That
was
the
first
one.
D
Yeah,
so
it
was
the
ieee
esa,
open
marketing
advisory
group.
We
hosted
a
mini
workshop
and
yeah.
We
we
had
matt
actually
led
one
of
the
badging
breakout
rooms,
and
so
they
got
a
lot
of
stuff
done
and
we'll
have
the
videos
and
notes
and
stuff
ready
by
the
end
of
the
week.
So
if
there's
anything
in
there
that
you
guys
want
to
review
you're
more
than
welcome
to
it
and
I'll
post
the
link
as
well.
A
I
would
like
to
just
with
respect
to
issues
and
pr's.
This
is
something
we
do
somewhat
regularly
in
the
ksdei
working
group
and
I'd
just
like
to
kind
of
head
over
there
right
now.
So,
if
you
take
a
look
at
the
issues
that
we
have,
it's
mostly
metric
ideas,
which
is
okay,
so.
A
Sense
yeah,
I
haven't
done
the
the
exercise
to
see
if
these
metric
ideas
are
mapped
to
the
spreadsheet.
You
know
how
we
kind
of
like
to
get.
A
Yeah,
so
I
I
mean,
if
there's
you
know,
I
just
I
think,
if
there's
anything,
if
you
could
take
a
look
at
the
list,
if
there's
anything
that
kind
of
you
know
is
interesting
to
you.
That
would
be
great
and
also
I
would
just
like
to
point
out
too
for
folks,
like
if
you're
running
a
workshop
or
you're
presenting
like
an
ato,
you
know
as
you're
kind
of
talking
about
or
participating
in
the
badging,
as
is
you
have
new
ideas
for
metrics
feel
free
to
put
them
in
here.
A
So,
for
example,
the
top
one,
a
few
great
ideas
for
event
metrics.
This
was
actually
that
came
from
the
podcast
that
we
did
with
the
lf
events
team,
like
a
few
things
that
they
thought
they
could
look
for
with
respect
to
events.
So,
as
you
see
them,
please
feel
free
to
capture
them
here,
I'm
showing
together
a
comment.
E
I
was
looking
at
some
like
what
I
usually
do
and
when
I've
got
so
many
stacked
up,
as
I
start
with
the
oldest
ones-
and
I
see
if
I
see
if
they
still
have
merit
but
there's
20
of
them.
So
I'm
just
going
through
and
making
comments
on
some
of
the
older
ones.
B
A
Great,
what
hey
all
right?
Well,
that's
a
10
reduction
in
issues
which
is
cool
great
there's.
Also
a
couple
pull
requests.
I
had
an
action
item
for
updating,
inclusive
leadership.
Remember
this
is
the
metric
that
had
kind
of
a
long
set
of
implementation
components
to
it.
Does
anybody
remember
this
from
last
time.
A
There
were
some
smaller
request
changes
here,
but
this
one
also
had
it
was
a
fairly
long
implementation
section
and
there
was
there
was
basically
an
action
item
for
me
to
go
and
kind
of
continue
to
reduce
the
implementation
section,
and
I
have
not
done
that
yet
I
was
doing
something
else,
so
still
an
action
item.
For
me
with
respect
to
standardizing
the
repo
structure,
I
think
we're
pretty
good
here.
A
G
G
G
A
About
that
right
now,
okay,
and
then,
if
I
come
back
so
honestly,
does
anybody
have
questions
on
issues
and
pull
requests?
It
doesn't
seem
like
there's
anything
of
crazy
urgency
at
this
point.
B
So
you
were
sorry,
you
were
okay
with
us.
If
we
see
an
idea,
we
like
can
just
kind
of
take
that
and
run
with
it
at
least
get
a
template
started.
If
there
is
one.
B
A
A
Okay,
cool.
Thank
you
all
right,
okay,
so
I
would
like
to
give
an
update.
We
have
a
couple
people
on
the
call
who
are
part
of
the
dei
reflection.
So
again,
this
is
a
kind
of
a
not
an
initiative.
A
That's
we're
taught
in
this
working
group,
but
kind
of
something
that's
extra
time
where
we're
taking
a
look
at
the
chaos
project
in
particular,
and
how
we
can
center
dei
more
deliberately
within
the
project
itself,
and
so
one
of
the
there
are
a
couple
areas
that
I
that
we're
starting
to
take
a
look
at,
and
one
is
just
with
respect
to
running
a
survey
for
the
community
and
we've
been
drafting
a
community
survey
that
you
can
see
here.
A
I
A
J
A
So
don
what
we're
taking
a
look
at
here
is
this
is
so
with
respect
to
the
dei
reflection
that
we're
doing
you
know
on
the
chaos
project.
One
of
the
things
that
we're
looking
to
do
is
a
survey
with
to
send
out
to
community
members
just
to
kind
of
see
the
pulse
of
community
members
with
respect
to
dei,
so
we're
just
kind
of
looking
at
an
early
draft
of
that
survey
right
here.
So
if
you
have
thoughts
or
questions
just
feel
free
to
speak
up.
K
Answers
too,
for
that
one,
it
was
that
we
were
trying
to
think
about
what
do
we
classify
contributions
as
and
the
drupal
community
had
done
some
really
great
work
of
how
they
break
up
contributions
in
their
community,
so
we
use
theirs
and
improvised
a
little
bit
as
a
model.
H
A
So
we
think
this
question
the
I
feel
welcome
in
the
chaos
community
and
I
feel
like
I'm,
making
a
contribution
and
the
next
one
to
what
no,
maybe
not
the
next
one,
but
these
ones
just.
H
A
A
B
And
and
when
we
do
the
data
analysis,
will
we
do
we'll
assign
numbers
to
them?
So
we
can.
A
A
D
I
think
where
it
says,
do
you
think
that
current
set
of
working
groups
cover
all
the
main
areas
of
interest
of
the
chaos
community?
I
think
there
should
be
a
follow-up
question
to
that.
So,
if
no
you
know,
what
can
we
do
to?
You
know
cover
yeah,
because
the
next
one
says
you
know
what
what
does
the
community
lack
that
you
wish
it
didn't,
but
it
doesn't
really
address
what
they
think
we're
not
addressing
in
the
yeah
people.
A
H
Add
option
red
other
if
you
hit
add
other
hang
on
a
second,
if
you
hit
add
other,
would
that
give
you
a
text
block
or
no.
A
A
Okay,
emily
point
taken
and
we'll
either
add
it
to
this
question
or
just
a
follow-on
question.
You
know
if
no
to
the
above
and
maybe
does,
does
google
survey
allow
you
to
manage
navigation
dude,
I'm
talking
about
like
in
qualtrics
like
sometimes,
if
you
answer
no,
then
it'll
skip
the
next
set
of
questions.
D
I
just
put:
if
no,
you
know
what,
basically,
what
can
you
do
differently,
or
what
can
we
address?
What
can
the
working
groups
address
that
they're
lacking
something
to
that.
A
All
right,
so
one
of
the
the
next
thing
on
the
agenda
here
is
with
event.
Demographics,
if
you
recall,
we
have
attendee
demographics
and
speaker.
Demographics
currently
is
two
metrics
and
when
we
put
these
two
metrics
into
practice
in
the
dei
event
badging
initiative,
they
ended
up
really
just
kind
of
doing
the
exact
same
thing
just
with
a
filter
on
attendees
and
a
filter
on
speakers.
So
we
we
didn't
feel
like
having
those
two
metrics
really
made
a
ton
of
sense.
So
the
proposal
was
to
create
two
metrics.
A
F
A
And
also
the
demographics
question
was
asking
issues
about
issues
of
inclusion
which
were
a
little
bit
different
than
what
we
were
able
to
ask.
In
the
event
the
badging
program.
A
E
B
A
H
A
H
H
A
A
A
K
K
Actually,
a
point
where
I
guess,
I'm
not
very
clear,
historically
on
the
metric
proposal
piece
but
trying
to
understand
what
the
question
is,
is
a
tool
to
frame
the
metric.
I'm
wondering
if
part
part
of
the
goal
here
is
to
provide
like
insight
or
or
a
strike
guides
or
guidelines
to
actually,
how
do
you
measure
these
things
that
are
actually
really
sensitive
like
or
can
be
delicate
to
collect
beyond?
K
A
A
I
don't
think
we've
ever
talked
about
that
with
respect
to
the
attendee
or
the
demographic
metric.
So,
and
I
don't
think
we
ask
that
question
in
the
badging
process.
Do
we
elizabeth
does
that?
A
I
mean
I'm
wondering
if
it's
something
down
in
objectives
justin,
so
you
know
a
statement
this,
maybe
not
the
best
sentence
just
heard,
but
a
statement
of
privacy
management
of.
A
H
A
B
A
What
I'm
thinking
is
matt
matt
cantu
snell,
as
he's
rolling
out
kind
of
these
updates.
This
might
be
a
really
nice
question
to
ask
and
really
from
an
event,
organizer
perspective.
It's
just
a
statement,
or
maybe
it's
amy's
point
like
a
point
to
a
linux,
a
higher
organizational
statement
about
how
that
information
is
managed.
A
K
I
think
there's
a
really
interesting
opportunity
being
on
the
being
on
the
side
of
things
where
we're
trying
to
define
how
do
we
measure
and
and
talk
about
the
relationship
of
these
things?
That's
one
thing
I
think
would
be
really
cool.
If
we
could,
I
don't
have
an
answer.
It's
just
a
an
idea,
but
I
feel
like
there's
an
opportunity
here
when
you
have
that
kind
of
demographic
data
to
mash
it
up
against
each
other,
because
you
can
get
a
lot
more
deeper
insights
into
who's
participating
and
who's,
not
participating.
K
J
Yeah-
and
I
think
that
intersectionality
point
is-
is
really
important-
I
mean
because
you
know
you
know
my
experience
as
a
white
woman
attack
may
be
completely
different
than
a
black
woman
in
tech,
for
example-
and
you
know
I
don't
know,
there's
just
there's
just
we're
not
we're
not
one
thing
right,
we're
lots
of
things
and
we
have
lots
of
different
lots
of
different
backgrounds
and
things
that
make
us
different.
So
I
think
it's.
I
think
that
the
intersection
of
some
of
those
is
really
important.
B
Also,
I
feel,
like
that's
kind
of
where
this
kind
of
movement
is
going
is
to
you
know
like
once.
We
figure
out
how
to
collect
this.
This,
like
kind
of
surface
level,
data
like
what
what's
next,
and
I
think
that
intersectionality
is
what's
kind
of
going
to
be
the
next
thing
that
we
start
to
focus
on.
We
meaning
like
the
broader.
We
not
we
chaos,
but
the
broader
right.
A
K
K
A
So
I
mean
an
objective
of
doing
this
would
to
me
to
elizabeth's
point
and
dawn's
point
in
your
point.
Justin
was
to
to
look
a
little
bit
more
deeply
at
this
data
right,
so
you
have
the
data
that's
collected,
but
there's
there
are
richer
stories
to
tell
against
this
data,
and
so
an
objective
is
to
to
me
ensure
the
proper
collection
of
the
data,
so
that
you
can
ask
these
richer
stories
or
tell
these
richer
narratives.
K
A
B
K
I
guess
that
one's
just
a
quick
one,
but
I've
seen
I
don't
know
if
you've
ever
been
to
an
event
on
hop-in,
but
they
have
polls
there.
I
just
have
seen
some
really
creative
polls
of
these
virtual
events
that
you
can
ask
questions
to
understand
who's
at
your
event
and
it's
really
quick,
easy
and
convenient,
but
that
was
just
from
one
platform
over
did
you.
A
Ever
see
it
within,
like
a
session,
a
appalling
being.
K
Done
yeah
I've
I've
been
to
a
few
events
on
hop
and
that's
where
I
I
saw
it
from
and
we
use
it
a
lot
in
fedora
and
the
polls.
People
are
really.
People
have
a
lot
of
fun
with
the
polls
too.
People
who
are
asking
us
to
run
them
then
really
goofy
ones
that
are
really
meaningless,
but
then
we
have
ones
that
can
be
really
strategic
or
insightful
about
like
what
are
you
connecting
from
what
device?
What
kind
of
connectivity
do
you
have?
Are
you
lagging?
Are
you
having
these
kinds
of
things.
E
Has
anybody
been
to
a
live
event
where
they
did
polling
in
real
time?
I
I
have
it's
the
cscw
community's
done
it
for
a
number
of
years.
They
also
use
it.
They
use
it
for
polls,
but
they
also
use
it
to
cue
your
questions
so
that
a
moderator
can
sort
of
choose
the
most
interesting
questions,
but
also,
I
think,
questions
from
a
more
diverse
audience.
E
Does
it
work
well
in
that,
so
in
that
community
it
does
because
everyone
is
affluent
and
has
a
mobile
device
with
good
connectivity.
E
A
Okay,
all
right!
Well!
Thank
you,
everybody.
These
are
great
suggestions.
I'll
probably
get
this
start
moving
this
into
the
github
space
and
out
of
here
I
do
appreciate
the
comments
all
right.
We
had
a
few
other
things,
oh
chairs,
for
this
working
group
elizabeth.
I
think
you
put
that
on
there.
A
So
for
yeah
I
can
do
it
so
for
each
of
the
working
groups,
we're
gonna
have
two
chairs.
These
aren't
necessarily
the
maintainers
for
the
repository,
but
two
people
who
are
the
primary
points
of
contact
for
the
working
group,
and
so
we
have
to
choose
chairs,
and
so
does
anybody
want
to
be
a
chair
for
the
dei?
I.
J
H
H
A
H
H
I
mean,
I
think,
it's
a
great
opportunity
to
let
people
take
a
leadership
role
who
haven't
had
one,
because
we're
not
hard
to
oversee
or
anything
so
this.
I
think
it
would
be
a
great
opportunity
for
matt
and
ruth
if
they're
interested,
to
be
honest
with
you.
E
All
right,
