Good
afternoon,
on
behalf
of
the
class
of
2022,
we
welcome
you
to
the
68th
commencement
ceremony
for
baptist
hill
middle
high
school
since
its
inception
in
1948
baptist
hill
high
school
has
been
a
pillar
of
the
hollywood
edisto
island,
megan
and
ravenel
communities.
Today
we
continue
that
legacy
by
celebrating
the
monumentous
occasion.

Each
year,
charleston,
county
school
district
recognizes
those
graduates
who
have
made
the
commitment
to
serve
in
the
united
states
military.
These
students
are
recognized
with
a
special
red
white
blue
cord,
a
signed
certificate
from
the
superintendent
and
a
challenge
coin.
The
challenge
coin
is
the
time-honored
tradition
in
the
military
services
and
is
typically
presented
by
a
unit
commander
to
a
service
member
for
a
job
well
done
and
to
provide
safe
passage
on
future
missions.
It
is
an
honor
for
me
to
present
each
of
these
seniors
a
ccsd
coin.

Tenecia
is
the
daughter
of
laurie,
nelson
and
tyrone
nelson
senior.
She
will
attend
clemson
university
and
major
in
chemistry
before
miss
nelson
delivers
her
salutatorian's
address.
I
would
like
to
invite
mr
donald
kennedy,
our
interim
superintendent
of
schools,
to
present
tanisha
nelson
with
the
salutatorians
award.
Please
everyone
welcome
tanisha
leshay
nelson,
the
salutatorian,
the
class
of
2020.
J
Good
afternoon
parents,
faculty
distinguished
guests
and
fellow
graduates,
I
am
tanisha
lashay
nelson
and
it
is
truly
an
honor
to
speak
before
you
today
as
salutatorian
on
behalf
of
the
graduating
class
of
2022,
first
giving
honor
to
god
for
the
blessings
that
have
brought
me
to
where
I
am
right
now
and
the
success
that
will
follow
as
I
continue
to
progress
in
this
life
to
my
family,
friends,
teachers
and
community.
Thank
you
for
your
support
and
words
of
encouragement
during
my
tenure
at
baptist.
J
Oh
high,
I'd
like
to
give
a
special
thank
you
to
both
my
beautiful
mother
and
colonel
mcleod
to
my
mother.
Thank
you
for
believing
in
me
and
being
by
my
side
every
step
of
the
way
and
to
colonel
mcleod.
Thank
you
for
your
continuous
support.
As
you
have
made
a
positive
impact
on
my
life,
you
both
are
greatly
appreciated.
J
As
I
reflect
on
these
last
four
years.
I
can
also
say
there
were
some
good
days
and
then
there
were
those
eventful
days,
but
despite
those
challenges
I
faced
and
even
when
odds
were
against
me,
I
conquered
and
I
overcame
during
my
years
in
high
school.
I
learned
that
my
education
was
not
free,
I
paid
for
it
by
sacrificing
my
sleep
to
me,
deadlines
and
arriving
to
my
classes
on
time,
even
when
I
did
not
feel
like
it.
I
was
also
balancing
my
high
school
work
with
my
college
work,
along
with
other
responsibilities.
J
J
J
Even
though
south
carolina
ranks
43
out
of
50
states
in
public
education,
rural
schools
rank
even
lower.
Where
do
we
place
to
blame?
Rural
schools
receive
less
resources
than
our
counterparts.
Some
rural
schools
have
been
deemed
as
failing
schools.
I
believe
they
would
deem
failing
schools
only
because
of
where
they
are
located.
J
We
must
advocate
for
better
resources.
Such
as
more
updated
textbooks
and
more
qualified
teachers,
and
not
just
teachers,
staff
faculty
administration,
all
of
the
above
and
when
I
say
qualified,
I'm
not
talking
about
degrees,
I
mean
people
who
actually
care
about
the
students
and
not
only
when
it's
beneficial
for
them.
J
J
J
No
title
should
define
who
we
are
without
these
titles
we
are
still
someone
destined
for
greater
things,
whether
you
attend
college
or
enter
the
workforce,
remember
to
be
the
best
you
and
leave
a
legacy
for
others
to
follow
and
to
the
rising
singers
and
underclassmen.
My
advice
to
you
is
to
keep
going
and
finish
strong,
do
not
allow
anyone
to
discourage
you
and
get
in
your
way,
especially
when
you
have
come
so
far
to
be
held
back.
J
K
With
the
highest
grade
point
average
aiden
elijah
bailey
has
the
distinct
honor
of
serving
as
baptist
hill
middle
high
school's
class
of
2022
valedictorian
aiden
is
the
son
of
beau
and
shannon
bailey
aiden
will
attend
milligan
university
in
the
fall
on
a
bowling
scholarship
and
major
in
graphic
design.
Before
mr
bailey
delivers
his
valedictorian's
address.
I
would
like
to
invite
mr
donald
kennedy
interim
superintendent
of
schools
to
present
aiden
bailey
with
the
valedictorian
award.
Please
welcome
aiden
bailey,
the
valedictorian
of
class
of
2022.
H
L
We
are
gathered
here
today
to
celebrate
this
momentous
occasion
where
the
senior
class
of
2022
graduates,
not
just
from
high
school,
but
their
proverbial
adolescence,
we've
gone
through
the
last
18
years
of
our
lives
under
the
wings
of
people
who
have
comforted
us.
I
stand
before
you
today
to
show
my
gratitude
to
those
special
contributors
on
behalf
of
my
peers,
I
like
to
first
and
foremost
thank
my
parents
and
guardians
the
people
who
have
fed
us
not
only
with
food
but
with
the
hunger
to
reach
our
full
potential.
L
Their
impact
has
shaped
who
we
are
as
children,
students
and,
most
importantly,
people.
I
also
want
to
show
my
gratitude
on
behalf
of
the
senior
class
to
the
faculty
and
staff
of
babbasil,
the
administration's
commitment
to
the
school
and
its
students
has
become
apparent
in
mine
and
my
classmates
educational
lives.
We
are
also
forever
in
the
dead
of
those
teachers
who
are
able
to
reach
the
hearts
and
the
brownie-filled
stomachs
of
the
students.
I'm
talking
to
you,
ms
hadley.
L
We
have
also
learned
how
to
accessibly
be
anxious
during
an
interview
or
presentation,
courtesy
of
mr
fields,
and
you
all
know
good
and
well.
We
are
definitely
prepared
to
answer
in
spanish
when
someone
says
hola
thanks
to
miss
burgess,
we
collectively
thank
you,
teachers
for
your
time
and
dedication
to
educating
the
next
generation
of
this
world,
even
though
the
financial
compensation
is
never
enough
for
the
priceless
influence
you
have
on
your
students.
L
This
school
is
a
family
filled
with
legitimate
cousins,
uncles,
aunts,
siblings,
but
that
of
also
previous
outsiders,
such
as
myself.
We
may
disagree
sometimes,
as
all
families
do,
but
the
home-like
atmosphere
of
babies
hill
has
and
never
will
fade
from
boss,
man
dent
to
even
marquis
and
the
entire
scholastic
family
in
between.
We
must
become
the
best
possible
people
we
can
be
in
the
words
of
harriet
tubman
herself.
Every
great
dream
begins
with
a
dreamer
always
remember.
L
You
have
within
you
the
strength,
the
patience
and
the
passion
to
reach
for
the
stars
to
change
the
world.
As
we
leave
the
nest
of
our
parents
and
guardians,
we
must
recognize
our
unique
talents
and
utilize
them
to
the
best
of
our
ability.
We
must
take
control
of
our
future
and
stop
being
fed
by
our
mama,
even
though
I'm
definitely
coming
back
for
the
holidays,
but
instead
we
must
pave
away
for
ourselves
and
do
the
thing
that
we
are
putting
on
this
earth
to
do
so.
L
K
K
K
K
K
K
Your
true
successes
will
be
defined
by
how
you
handle
both
of
those
times
as
you
graduate
and
take
on
new
challenges,
whether
it's
college
or
career
opportunities
chances
are
that
you
may
have
some
struggles
in
your
8
a.m:
classes
in
college
and
or
won't
be
making
the
salary
you
hope
for
at
your
first
job,
but
guess
what
that's?
Okay,
the
important
thing
is.
You
have
already
taken
the
initial
steps
needed
to
build
a
more
promising
future.
Every
class
you've
taken
every
lab,
every
essay
written
and
every
career
certification,
you've
earned.
K
The
deadlines
for
ms
burgess's
spanish
class,
ms
trapp
and
her
essays,
mr
fields
and
his
senior
projects,
which
were
tough
for
some
of
you
on
the
counter.
You
were
treated
with
delicious
brownies
for
birthdays
in
miss
hadley's,
math
class
or
coach,
brown's
famous
friday
athletic
meal
from
pigley
wiggly
and
words
of
encouragement.
K
But,
as
you
know,
it's
a
tough
world
out
there
and
nothing
will
be
handed
to
you.
You
have
to
earn
it
and
it
will
mean
more
to
you
because
you
will
earn
it.
You
have
taken
a
key
step
towards
your
successful
future
and
also
the
betterment
of
your
family
and
your
baptist
hill
middle
high
school
community.
K
K
You
are
now
armed
with
one
of
the
most
important
tools
needed
to
forge
your
path
ahead.
It
is
not
the
diploma
itself
that
counts.
It's
about
what
you've
learned
along
the
way
and
what
you
will
do
with
the
education
you've
gotten
in
your
journey
to
graduation.
Today,
your
future
is
in
your
hands
and
again
no
one
owes
you
anything
in
life.
K
K
This
afternoon
we
celebrate
the
accomplishments
of
this
class
with
family
and
friends
from
near
and
far
since
1948
baptist
hill
middle
high
school
has
been
an
important
place
to
learn
and
grow
for
the
young
people
of
charleston
county.
After
receiving
a
diploma,
each
graduate
will
receive
a
white
rose
with
a
maroon
ribbon.
K
This
is
a
symbolic
of
a
new
beginning
and
our
desire
for
much
success
in
your
future.
That
rose
is
for
you
to
hand
it
to
the
one
person
in
your
life
that
has
helped
you
get
to
this
point
so
think
about
it.
You'll
have
time
we
respectfully
request
that,
as
we
begin
the
presentation
of
diplomas
that
everyone
assists
us
in
maintaining
proper
decorum,
so
that
every
student
name
is
heard
and
be
recognized
as
he
or
she
walks
across
the
stage
for
their
families
to
recognize
them.
