awards

recently
won.

thought

a
great
opportunity

talk
a
little
bit
about
sort
of
what
Communications
and
media
does
as
part
of
the
new
constituent
and
Media
Services
Department
we'll
get
to
the
awards
in
in
just
a
few
minutes,
but
over
the
course
of
this
episode,
you're
going
to
hear
from
several
different
voices,
different
different
parts
of
our
organization
here
on
different
parts
of
our
division,
parts
of
our
family.

work
we
all
do

what
they
all
mean

us

to

are
our
director
and

director

how
we

newly
formed
department
and
for
a
lot

folks
out

This
might
be
their
first
opportunity
to
even
know

constitute

Services
exists

a
department.

the
recent
merger
between
consider
Media
Services.
Excuse
me
consistent
services
and
Communications
and
media
talk
to
me
about
sort
of
what
was
behind
that
murder
and
the
mission
that
you
see
for
communications
immediate
within.

This
has
all
happened
relatively
quickly.
You

we
are
a
relatively
new
department,
but
we've
been
able
to
pull
a
lot
of
existing
resources.
So
you
guys
know
my
background.
Almost
19
years
with
the
communications
and
media
Department
before
I
took
another
position.

we
we
spent
some
time
kind
of
doing
the
same
thing,
pooling
resources
to
create
for
the
first
time
ever
for
Chesterfield
the
office
of
constituent
services,
and
that
office
exists
to
provide
support
to
our
elected
leaders
and
other
County
leaders
to
be
that
liaison
between
constituents
and
our
leaders
in
the
county
and
and
help
craft
and
carry
the
County's
Story
the
message
on
their
behalf
and
provide
lots
of
other
types
of
support.

the
way
from

imagine
come

very
busy
people
doing
very
busy
jobs
due
to
a
change
in
leadership.
You
know
an
opera
opportunity
presented
itself
to
kind
of
take
a
look
at
well.

we
go
forward

decision

in
with
the

of

the
office

constituent
Services
was
only
about
a
year
old
when
that
decision
was
made
right.
So
we're
like
heck

been

our
mission.

out

we're
also

tremendous

function

Chesterfield,
which

why

it's
important

rare
occasions
like
this
to
use
an
excuse
like
the
Hermes
Awards.

somebody
who's,
you

like

for
a
long
time.

driving
forces
behind
us
being
involved
in
this
process
of
of
applying.

throwing

hat

rings
tell
folks
about
the
Hermes
Awards
and
why
they
mean
so
much,

just
in
terms
of
the
broader
sort
of
communications,

also
in
terms
of
our
department,
because
I
think
for
around
here,
her
men,
not
this
is
no
disrespective,
vaca,
Naco

any
other
awards
that
we
might
win,
but
her
man
these
they
really
carry
a
lot
of
weight.

I

say
that
if
somebody
you

involved
on
the
you
know
the
day-to-day
grind
of
it
all
this
opportunity,
you
know
to

win
something
like
that.
What
it
does
is
it
really?
It
makes
you
kind

step
back
and
go
okay.
You
know
what
I'm
I'm,
not
only
am
I
doing
the
right
thing
for
the
right
reasons.
You
know
with
this
organization
for
the
people
of
this
County,
but
also
too
you're
doing
you're
doing
it.

All
of
us
kind
of
blush
a
little
bit-
it's
it's
pretty
great
and
and
in
terms
of
the
the
amount
of
success
we've
had
not
just
this
year,
but
last
year,
I
can
imagine
as
both
of
you
as
you
know,
the
heads
of
the
the
the
the
snake
so
to
speak
that
it
is
it.
It
must
be
really
comforting
to
know
that
there's
you
know
that
much
not
just
production
happening,
but
such
quality
coming
along
the.

Way
exactly

think

Think
that's
that's
really
the
the

we
are
producing
great
stuff
and
you

Yes,
we
are
a
local
government,
but
we
are
looking
at
this
as
we
want

and
it's
the
quality

work

clearly
based
on
how
we
were
judged
in
these
Awards.

Theresa

this
has
been
quite
a
bit
of
fun
for
me
over
the
last
few
months,
because
you
and
I
worked
together
for
a
while.
Previously
tell

this
work
has
meant
to

You
know
you're
kind

stretching

being
a
leader
in
this
department,
you're
doing
a
fantastic

we

bit

about
collaboration
that
exists,

look
at
something
like
a
Hermes
award
or
multiple
Hermes
Awards,
not
just
the
individual
names

tied

Awards,

it's
really
representative
of
the
work
that
it
that
takes
place
collectively
throughout
this
shop.
Absolutely
you
know,
that's
been
kind
of
fun.
For
me
to
watch
unfold
is,
is
everybody
has
a
piece
in
just
about
everything
that
leaves
here.

it's
funny
that
you
say
that
because
I
tell
that
to
people-
and
you
know
yes,
even
though
these
Awards
really
you
know
I-
know
you're
going
to
hear
from
several
individuals
within
the
department
on
on
the
respective
awards
that
they
won.

you

they
were
definitely
the
lead
on
those
projects.

products
so
even
though
yeah
you're
going
to
hear
from
some
folks
but
there's
a
lot
of
folks
you
aren't
hearing
from
and
they
play
just
as
important
role
as
as
the
folks
that
were
that
that
lead-
and
you
know,
I
always
kind
of
joke.
As
we've
been
going
through
some
interview
processes
and
things
of
you
know,
there's
probably
not
a
product
or
a
project
that
we
work
on,
that
everybody
in
the
department
does
not
touch
right.

When
you
think
about
it
sounds
a
little
inefficient,
but
at
the
end
of
the
day
it's
everybody
has
their
role,
Everybody
Plays
their
role
and
everybody
has
they
bring
it.
They
bring
a
side
or
expertise
to
that
project,
which
I
think
is
why
we
produce
such
quality
projects
and
why
we,
we
won
these
Awards.

Hermes
also
to
me
from
the
way
I
see
this,
it
provides
a
level
level
of
relevancy
to
what
we
do
and
importance
and
and
reason
for
the
average
citizen
in
Chester
field.
You
know
to
connect
with
us
and
look
for
ways
to
to
take
in
all
of
the
information
that
we
put
out
so
tell
us
a
little
bit
about
how
that's
evolving.
That's
another
thing:
that's
amazing,
about
this
team.
This
is
not
a
field
that
stays
the
same
for
very
long.

recently

department

evolved,

the
last
year,
is
how
we're
able

tell
more
of
our
own
stories
we're
telling
them
through
blogs,
we're
telling
them
through
podcasts.
So
you
may
not
be
hearing
those
good
news
stories
on
the
news,
but
if
you
want
to
find
those
good
news
stories.

covering
these
stories,
but
at
the
same
time
we've
also
got
people
who
are
very
dedicated
to
maintaining
those
relationships
with
the
news
media.
At
the
same
time,
you
know,
unfortunately,
you
know
Chesterfield's
without
its
local
news
source
now
and
in
two
local
newspapers
no
longer
with
us,
and
but
that
also
presents
an
opportunity
for
a
department
like
this
to
to
be
that
deliver
of.

Yeah
absolutely
what
I
love
about
it
is
that
the
day
of
we
had
like
a
rough
idea,
we
did
how
we
would
capture
it,
but
I
think
in
the
moment
we
sort
of
like
were
sort
of
figuring
it
out
as
we
sort
of
went
along,
which
I
think
has
kind
of
been
the
fun
part
about
the
podcast
as
a
whole.
Is
that
you
know,
even
though
I
had
podcasts
and
experience
even
though
Martin
had
obviously
directing
experience,
he
and
I
really
quickly
got
a
nice
Rapport.

you
know
it
seems
to
me,
you
know
someone
like
Carrie
Brockwell,
she's
kind
of
used
to
being
in
the
spotlight,
but
but
when
you're
have
a
mic
in
your
face
and
all
that
good
stuff
nerves

run
kind

high.
So
a
bit
big
part
of
your
jobs
is
to
kind
of
help.
People
find
their
voice
and
be
at
ease
and
just
have
a
conversation.

opportunity

creative

thing,

I'm,
not
sure
about

process

fits

what
are
the
kind
of
things?
Are
you
designing,
because
obviously,
Billboards
are
are
somewhat
new
on
your
plate
in
the
last
couple
years.

Flyers,
posters
and
all
that
kind
of
stuff

was
able
to
contribute
in
that
way.
God
is

He
moved
me
along
and
now
in
recent
in
the
last
four
years.
What
I
do
in
terms
of
Graphics
have
been
provide
them
for
the
video
people
and
for
social
media,
some
right
and
and
also
interestingly,
for
the
digital
Billboards.

we
may
have
the

same

We
both
write
a
bunch
of
stuff
press
releases.
Things
of
that
nature,
but
our
focuses
our
bigger
Focus
are
different.
Mine
is
obviously

behind

the
chessfield
on
point
blog
now,
like
I
did
with
Matt
and
Debbie
I
kind
of
want
to
give
you
a
chance
to
sort
of
give
folks
an
idea
of
what
you
do
and
how
you
and
how
that
helps.

Well,
it
should
come
to
know,
there's
no
surprise
to
anybody
that
local
journalism
is
suffering
and
has
been
for
years
now
and
right.
In
response
to
that,
you
know
the
county
decided
it
was
best
to
be
proactive
and
take
its
message
and
tell
the
story
of
everything.
That's
going
on
here,
right,
giant,
County
to
you
know
directly
to
the
residents
right.

And
so
then,
in
in
in
your
case,
you
feel
like,
without
the
the
sort
of
especially
now
with
the
Observer,
having
gone
away,
limited
local
media
limited
focus
on
the
local
stories
from
other
traditional
media
sources.
You
get
to
be
sort
of
the
the
the
folks
who
the
the
kind
of
person
who
brings
that
information
to
people.
What
are
some
of
the
things
you've
written
about
recently,
as
we
record
this
it's
you
know,

the

kindness,
campaign,
submissions,
same
kind
of
idea,
for
you
right
is
that,
like
when
you
hear
about
local
things,
happening
good
stories,
that
kind
of
stuff
it
seems
like
you,

best

collect

those
as
possible,
so
that,
like
you,
said
it's
not
just
strictest.
You
know
essentially
like
news
items.
It's
also
like
features
and
Community
interest
sort
of
pieces,
as
somebody
who's
been
a
part
of
this
community
for
so
long.

for
at
least
a
decade.

was
honestly
pretty
surprised,
but
it's
gonna,

cheesy
and

I've
lived

for

years

to

stories
about
my
neighbors
yeah
people,
I've
known
for
years
and
years
and
years
who
are
doing
great
things
