Description
On this episode of CityTalk, John interviews Tyler Long and Jessica Rohe Cook from 311 in the Department of Innovation & Performance.
A
Welcome
to
this
edition
of
City
talk,
perhaps
you've
had
an
emergency
recently
and
you
were
forced
to
call
9-1-1,
but
there
is
another
number
to
call
in
the
city
for
non
emergencies,
and
that
is
3-1-1
and
Tyler.
Long
is
a
3-1-1
specialist
and
he
joins
us
on
city
talk
Tyler
welcome
to
program.
Thank
you
very
much.
I
like.
B
A
B
That
sometimes
you
get
the
ones
that
are
there
to
read
on
the
edge
of
that
or
some
people
don't
want
to.
You
know,
bother
the
police
but
past
that
we
get
everything
and
anything
you
could
possibly
imagine
going
on
in
the
city.
Everything
from
you
know
stray
cats,
the
hiccups
to
you
know
it's
the
winter,
so
we
got
a
lot
of
potholes
right
now.
I.
A
C
B
A
B
B
Absolutely
I
mean
you
definitely
have
to
have
a
fair
amount
of
empathy
to
do
it,
because
you
have
to
understand
that
these
are
the
issues
that
you
know.
People
are
dealing
with
during
the
day,
and
one
of
the
things
that's
really
struck
me
early
on
was
how
much
pride
people
take
in
in
living
here
and
being
from
Pittsburgh.
So
any
little
thing
like
that
is
you
know
more
or
less
a
direct
kind
of
personal
hit
on
their
situation.
I.
A
B
B
B
Absolutely
well,
that's
that's
what
I
was
saying
you
know.
People
will
take
a
lot
of
pride
in
being
from
Pittsburgh,
so
when
you
have
a
neighbor
who
maybe
isn't
holding
up
there
under
the
bargain,
as
far
as
you
can
tell
how
people
like
the
the
call
in
and
make
their
voice
heard
about
those
situations
so
where
you
from
originally
I
am
from
Huntington,
not
North
Huntington,
it's
in
the
middle
part
of
the
state
about
a
half-hour
south
to
State
College.
You
have
to
point
out
landmarks
because
otherwise
you'd
never
find
it
all.
B
B
B
A
B
Yeah
I
mean
the
accident
you
can,
you
can
nail
any
old
day,
but
just
really
getting
to
take
more
appreciation.
For
you
know
the
I
guess
things
you
appreciate
more
as
an
adult
the
culture.
You
know
the
this,
the
different
neighborhoods,
this
the
different
ways
you
can
get
involved
in
making
this
city
better.
Do.
B
B
Madness,
no,
it
I
mean
obviously
any
city
I
think
it's
probably
controlled
chaos,
but
I
think
what
people
need
to
realize
is
the
people
in
here
care
as
much
about
these
types
of
things
as
as
the
the
folks
at
home
do,
and
maybe
all
these
types
of
issues
don't
get
solved
as
quickly
as
they
hope.
But
again,
it's
it's
the
same
way
in
these
walls.
We
all
want
better
to.
B
B
A
B
It
does
depend
on
the
volume,
but
luckily
the
way
that
the
supervisors
have
the
program
set
up
is
is
we
don't
really
have
to
assure
anyone
off
the
phone
I
mean
obviously
you'd,
like
the
the
calls
would
be
taken
care
of
pretty
quickly,
but
if
someone's
gonna
ramble
we're
gonna,
let
them
ramble
because
that's
you
know,
that's
their
prerogative,
and
this
is
their
line.
Do.
A
B
Had
no
idea,
honestly,
because
I'd
had
call
center
and
customer
service
experience,
but
this
is
a
different
animal
working.
You
know
for
the
people
in
the
city,
you're
not
selling
a
product
and
you're,
not
trying
to
you
know,
maybe
get
involved
in
a
situation.
That's
a
little
bit
different,
it's
a
very
personal
thing
to
them.
Somebody.
A
B
A
B
A
B
A
B
B
Well,
absolutely
I
think
I've
already
had
always
had
an
appreciation
for
the
the
positions
that
people
are
in
so
I'm,
not
really
so
much
surprised,
like
I,
said
finding
out
how
much
pride
people
haven't
being
from
Pittsburgh
really
just
kind
of
translates
into
here.
You
have
a
lot
of
people
doing
the
best
they
can
every
day
does.
A
C
Hi
I'm
Lisa
Chaffee
city
forester,
with
the
Department
of
Public
Works.
Here
at
the
Forestry
Division,
we
are
dedicated
to
maintaining
a
healthy
urban
force
because
in
Pittsburgh
our
trees
matter.
If
you
would
like
to
become
a
member
of
our
hard-working
team,
please
go
to
PGH
jobs
net.
We
are
the
city
of
Pittsburgh.
A
A
D
D
D
D
D
D
D
Nut
yeah
I
doubt
there's
ever
a
shortage
of
potholes
and
that's
actually
one
thing
that
gets
taken
care
of
pretty
I
would
say
the
most.
Thank
you
calls
when
we
get
a
lot
of
thank-you,
calls
to
you.
We
do
we
get
a
lot
of
thankee
calls
for
how
quickly
the
Department
of
Public
Works
fills
in
puddles
and.
D
D
D
D
D
A
D
A
D
Actually
that
if
I,
if
I,
could
give
any
helpful
advice
to
anybody,
you're
calling
three
one
one
I
would
always
start
with
the
address,
because
a
lot
of
the
times,
what
will
happen
is
we'll
get
a
long
line
of
you
know.
People
people
want
us
to
know
all
these
pertinent
details,
but
it's
hard
for
us
to
send
anybody
to
help
or
to
really
figure
anything
out
and.
A
D
We've
all
taken
our
fair
share
of
of
just
pretty
strange
calls
now
that
now
that
I
have
the
opportunity
to
to
go
on
about
them.
I
feel
like
no
snow.
Specific
call
is
really
coming
to
mind,
but
okay
I
would
say
it's
probably
a
daily
occurrence,
where
one
of
us
hangs
up
the
phone
and
it's
kind
of
like.
Oh,
that.
A
D
We
there
there
are
many.
There
are
many
calls
to
the
to
the
301
call
center
that
we
really
can't
hold
people
with
that.
That's
definitely
one
of
them
Jessica,
where
you
from
I'm
originally
from
O'hare,
Township,
okay,.
