The Aiken Department of Public Safety wants everyone to drive safely. One of the leading causes of collisions in Aiken is when a driver is following too closely behind someone else, also known as tailgating. If you are stopped for this violation or involved in a collision where the cause is tailgating, you could be fined a minimum of $155. This video explains the importance of keeping your distance behind another vehicle.

Aiken, SC – The City of Aiken and the Department of Parks and Recreation joined together with the Toole Hill community and residents today to participate in the “Topping Off” ceremony at the construction site of the Eustis Park Senior-Youth Center this Friday, June 29, 2018. Residents began putting their signatures on a beam at 9:00 a.m. to memorialize the occasion followed by the ceremony which started at 9:30 a.m.
The beam was raised holding a Carolina palm plant as a symbol to “top” off the ceremony. Mayor Osborn stated that this is a great project for the City. The Eustis Center is designed to be a 12,000-square-foot facility that will house a banquet hall with 296 seats, sub-dividable into 3 separate rooms; a patio; a 50-person meeting room; a 100-person meeting room; a catering kitchen; a reception and extended lobby area; and office space for staff. The property is 5.53 acres and is an extension of the adjacent Eustis Park, adding additional green space for outdoor recreation.
The Center will be a community focal point where older adults and young people come together for programs and activities that encourage their involvement in and with the center and the community. The facility will also provide a large meeting and event area for residents and/or visitors through rental of its banquet hall.
