variance

granted

house
was
burglarized
and
that's
one

reasons

security

cameras,

apps,

perpetrator
still
came
in
my
yard
and
stole
out
of
my
yard.
So
that's
why
I

want
the
fence
neath

to
kind

deter

you

they
robbed
my
house.

electronics,

daughter's
bicycle
and
a
lot
of
things,
but
the
most
important
thing
I
took
was
my
peace
of
mind.

that's

house,

I

so
that
you
know
that
it's
still,
even
though
it
was
over
a
year
ago,
I'm
still
not
quite
as
safe.
As
you
know,
I
have
been
in
my
42
years
and
I
say
that
because
this
was
my
great
grandmother's
house
and
I
grew
up
in
this
house,
so
I
haven't
felt
this
unsafe
in
a
long
time.

just
based
on
looking
at
the
property
that
people
could
still
technically
hop
over
the
lower
half
if
they
were
determined

visually.

that

their

officer
they

street
that
they

chesterfield

that's

a
pretty
busy
street.

see
officers
almost
daily
on
that
street,

officer
told
me

actually
are
on
that
street
a
lot,
but
you
know
there's
still
people
walking
back
and
forth
constantly
and
it's
hard
to
join
the
police
and
even
me
and
my
family
is
hard
to
kind
of
keep
up
with
with
that,
because
I
have
actually
have
a
picture.

I
thought
I
submitted
it
of
someone
coming
onto
my
property
with
my
camera.
I
took
my
camera,
so
I
took
a
picture
from
my
my
system,
somebody
walking
up
to
my
my
porch
and
so
even
with
the
police.
It's
hard
to
you
know
they
wouldn't
know
if
it's
a
family,
member
or
someone,
so
I
can.
I
can
reach
out
to
him
again,
but
it's
you
know
just
that
fence
is
a
big
deterrent.

for

this.

variance

not
granted,

that
would
just
mean
you'd
have
to
cut

fence
down
to
four
feet

certain
number
of
feet
on
the

go

the
rest
of
the
property

the
eight
foot
fence.

Personally,
one
of
my
concerns
about
a
tall
fence
is
because
I
lived
in
a
house
where
I
had
to
walk
from
my
garage
to
the
house
and
I'll
be
honest.
I
would
get
scared
and
I
my
concern
with
having
this
tall
fence
out
front
is
that
someone
could
get
inside
and
be
hiding
behind
the
fence.
And
you
know
maybe
they
can't
get
into
the
house.
But
they
could.

have
incredibly
high
walls

high
fences

of
these
estates

properties

obviously
different
parts
of
our
community,
they're
accepted
and
they're
allowed,
and
they
do
provide
a
sense
of
security

them

attractive

some
of
them
are
a
little
demised.
If
you
will,
they
tend
to
vary,
but
there's
an
inconsistency
as
a
whole.
In
my
view,
those
walls
just
for
lack
of
a
better
example
along
south
boundary
or
whiskey
road,

nobody
really
thinks
much
of
them
again.

think
some
considerations
should
be
made
that
in
certain
areas
we
shouldn't
have
a
different
standard.
When
someone
is
looking
for
a
sense
of
security
and
well-being
in
their
own
home,
I
think
there
perhaps
could
be

requirement

aesthetic,

that
sense
continuity
with
paint
or
materials.
But
it
concerns
me
that
aesthetic
is
taking
precedence
over
safety.

love

the
safety

security

this,
but
then
also
I
don't
want
people
to

to
grow
up
in
a
neighborhood
like

them

house

feelings

I've

to
be
more
vigilant.

Zoning
ordinance
states
that
no
sign
identifying
or
advertising

business

building
or
use,
except
as
permitted
by
section
four
for
excuse
me:
nine.
I
that
entails
temporary
portable
signs
in
the
downtown
business
district,
so
would
not
apply
in
this
case.

approximately
0.55
acres
in
area
and
zone
general
business,
both
the
subject
property
and
the
property
which
the
applicant
currently
leases
are
located
in
the
kamia,
plaza
shopping
plaza,
excuse

and
we're
acquired
by

same
owner

So
basically
the
entire
shopping
plaza
is
safer.
I
believe
one
property
would
recently
transferred
ownership
within
the
last
two
months:
the
property
owner,
the
sherlock
holmes
plaza
llc
has
granted
the
applicant
permission
to
install
the
additional
off-site
directional
sign,
so
the
owner
owns
both
parcels
and
has
granted
that
permission.

property
of

north

cedar
lane
is
currently
zoned
general
business
and
developed
as
commercial
retail.
As
you
can
kind
of
see
in
this
picture,
the
adjoining
property
to
the
east,
1704
richland
avenue
west

currently
zoned

this
commercial
as
well.

to
basically
provide

front
hallway,
the
accessibility

the
store
is
cumbersome
for
elderly,
it's
cumbersome

parents

children,

strollers,
because
there's
five
or
six
steps
you

go
down.
We
did
install
a
lift
for
anybody,
that's
disabled
in
a
wheelchair,
so
they
can
get
up
and
down.
But
the
back
side
is
a
level
entrance.

desk
was
put
in
just
the
way
we
build
the
store
because
currently
95
percent
of
our
customers
come
through
that
front
entrance.
The
pickup
area
is
around
the
back,
and
anybody
that
would
need
assistance
to
get
into
the
building
obviously
would
want

come
around
the
back.
But
it's
not
evident
at
this
point
that
there's
even
an
entrance
back
there,
because
it's
just
set
up
very.

word

cumbersome

an
entrance
standpoint

customers

going

come
back
that
way

kind

signing

customers

being

he
wants
to
have

successful
business

his

know

ownership

planning

old
magistrate's
office,

I
only
know
that,

the
sign
is
still
on
the
door
and
then
I
don't
know
if
there
was
anything

right

in
that
hall
they're.
Currently,
a
mess-
and
it's
a
really
you
know
it's
going
to
take
a
lot
of
build
out
before
he's
able
to
lease
anything
in
there,
because
it's
got

four
foot
drop
off

know
how
it

worked

he

entrances

that

us

up
a
gate

something
at
the
end

people

there

surprised,
