Day

Earth
Day

continue
need
for
environmentally
sound
policies

the
individual,

State,
Federal
and
Global

the
50
years
of
Earth
Day
and

Carmen

hard

dedication

making
sure
that
Earth
Day
Aiken
is
so
successful.

terms

Earth

city
of
our
community
has
been
awarded
a
special
award,
an
emergency
response
kit
that
will
include
solar
panel
charging
stations,
water
ionization
station,
a
pontoon
boat
drones
that
the
city
will
have
as
a
rapid
response
for
ourselves.

we're
excited.
We
hope
that
we'll
will
be
able
to
unveil
that
on
Earth,
Day
and
share
that
with
the
city,
but
thank

to

sister,

friend,
who
brought
the
Earth
they
existence,
commit

committee

to

speak
about
this
before
I
saw
the
agenda
tonight
and
so
I
don't
mean
to
be
insulting
or
anything

this
but
Earth
day,
since
that
that
topic
has
come
up.
I
think
it's
important.
Today,
I
had
seen
last
week
some
tape,
some
ribbons
on
trees
over
at
Smith,
Hazel
and
I,
didn't
know.

that
meant
they
were,
you
know,
be
being
prepared
to
be
removed
or
what
and
so
I
did
call
Aaron
Campbell
with
Parks
and
Recreation
to
ask
about
that
and
he
said
it's
sort
of
ambiguous.
It's
not
there's
not
fully
decided
yet,
but
he
said
that
at
some
future
date
it
would
be
on
the
agenda
with
city
council
before
anything
was
done
as
far
as
removing
trees,
and
so
we
would
have
an
opportunity
as
the
public
to
talk
about
this
to
have
some
input
on
this.

I
went
by
Smith,
Hazel
and
I
went
down.
Sumter
Street
and
I
saw
oh,
my
goodness,
there's
12
Trees
in
a
row
almost
over
there.
When
you
add
them
all
up,
there's
about
two
dozen
trees
and
I,
don't
know
which
ones
may
be
flagged
for
removal
or
for
saving
or
trimming
or
what
but
I
just
want
to
be
sure,
because
we
all
know
how
important
the
tree
canopy
is
and
and
I
just
want
to
be
sure.

there?

it

will
there
be
an
opportunity
for
the
public
to
know
what's
going
to
happen

to
have
some
input
because
I
did
go
to
the
Smith
Hazel
meetings
when

discussions

going

improvements
that
are
going
to
be
done,
there

I
had
specifically
asked
about
the
tree
and
the
trees,
and
there
wasn't
a
clear
answer
on
that.

may
have
to
be
removed.

that's
the
thing
I'm
wondering

incredibly
gorgeous
trees.

there

other
part

lot

young
trees

replace

older
trees

in
the
city
of
Aiken's
news
release
on

30th
of
March,
it's
said
that
there
was
no
conflict,
because
there's
no
property
being
turned
over
to
a
incorporation.

north
side

Aiken
up
to
become
a
a
ghost
town
when
we
say
Aiken
I
want
the
whole
entire
aching
to
look
good,
not
just
one
side
of
town.

when
you
drive
through
Aiken

that's
a
beautiful
city
me
and
my
husband
went
to
Greenville.
You
can
eat
off
the
ground,
really
literally
go
downtown
Greenville
check
it
out,
but
the
north
side
I
aching.
It's
time
to
be
cleaned
up.

potholes
on
Union
Street
are
so
bad
if
anyone
runs
their
car
into
them,
it's
going
to
do
serious
damage
to
their
car.
These

mean
these
potholes
are
about
the
size
of

not
bigger

street

only
maybe

Why,
and
most
of
it
is
potholes
most
of

pay
taxes
just
like
everybody
else,

little
kids

come
close
enough

parents
wouldn't
let
them

people

porches

partner

we

community

receives

community

specifically
on
Ridge
Avenue
next

American
Legion
Post.

years
now,
we've

owners
of
those
two
properties
and
we
never
get
anywhere
with
them,
and
it
has
turned
into
a
regular
dumping
site.

got
not
squatters
there.
Living
drug
users
stay
in
those
two
houses
off
and
on.

hotel
would
be

then

1.02
acres
for
storm
water.

facility,
the

on
branding

to

will

remitted
to

city

local

investment

council
has
agreed

allocate

portion

funds
for
downtown

the

Corporation
may
have
undertaken
the
project

subsequent
additions
to
it

the
funding
required
and
firm
lines
of
responsibility
for
the
project
were
in
place.

not
going
to
have
time
to
read
it
all
so
I'll
skip
to
the
next

deceiving
ourselves
if

pretend

putting
something

Citizens
Park

north
side.

it
absolutely
is
not

would
not
allow
a
young
child

mine
to
go
walking
to
Citizens
Park.

enhance

Smith
Hazel
Center
by
enclosing

pool
there,
making
it

year-round
facility.

could
enhance

lessee
price
Center
for
Youth
and
citizens,
because
now
there's
nothing
there.

youth.

no
basketball
courts,
there's
nothing
indoors.
It
closes
at
five
o'clock
in
the
afternoon,
so
it's
really
not
there
as
a
facility
for
children
and
that's
what
we
need
to
have.

why
are
we
talking
about
Generations
Park.

limited

programs

usage

rentals
to
league
sports
leagues,

groups
that
use
our
facilities.
They
are
used
from
sun
up
to
sundown
from

opens

drawer
closes,
so
we
certainly
invite
the
smithiesel
the
the
seniors,
the
adults,
the
youth
we
are
open
to
all
and
we
try
to
program
and
accommodate
all.

So
why
isn't
that
series
been
being
considered
for
a
track?
Trail,
bicycle
path
from
town
out
to
Generations
Park,
and
then
you
could
stay
off
the
highway
I
just
never
understood
why
a
sewer
easement
good
for
a
Greenway
north
of
generations
Park,
but
it's
not
being
considered
Salter
Generations
Park
that
whole
Greenway
there's
no
access
to
Generations
Park
from
town
right
now.
Somebody
have
to
drive
out
there
and
start
from
there.

At
the
New
Horizons
Workshop
work
session,
there
were
three
items
that
came
out
of
that
as
priorities
and
Council
voted
on
those
one
of
them
was
surface
parking
lot
at
the
100
block
of
Northwest
Newberry
Street.
Another
was
a
structured
parking
solution
that,
at
the
time,
was
described
as
a
seven
million
dollar
project,
and
that
was
going
to
be
in
conjunction
with
the
lab
building
and
Mr
beaten
bought
that
meeting.
According
to
the
minute
said,
we
could
fund
a
portion
of
the
cost
for
a
parking
garage
from
the
plutonium
funds.

So
one
thing
you
really
ought
to
be
considering
is
if
you're
going
to
sell
any
of
these
pascalis
properties.
There
needs
to
be
a
place
where
that
money
goes
and
it's
been
brought
up
a
few
times.
What
are
you
going
to
do
when
you
sell
the
hotel
unless
the
city
is
going
to
be
a
socialized
downtown
and
have
the
city
owning
real
estate
in
perpetuity
like
it?
Does
the
Newberry
Street
Building
for
99
years?

are
you

to
do
with
that
money?
Why
not
pass
a
resolution
saying
that
this
money
from
the
hotel,
Aiken
sale
from

when

sell
it?

ever
sell
Newbury
Hall
we're

put
these
funds
back
into

same
pot
that

money
came
out

pay
off
the

holding
up
that
idea,

anything

well
seniors

You

play

that'll
be

good
investment
to
put
computer
labs
in
there
for
the
seniors,
as
well
as

children.
