the
applicants
proposed
bringing
forward
the
recessed
entry

create

flat
storefront.
Since
that
discussion,
the
applicants
have
submitted
new
plans
and
elevations
depicting
a
design
for
the
proposed
new
storefront.
The
submitted
plan
indicates
that
the
existing
recessed
entry
is
13
feet,
7
inches
deep
and
27
feet,
6
inches
wide.

will
have
a
four
foot
deep
and
14
foot
10
inch
wide
recessed
entry.
This
will
result
in
the
circle
design
currently
in
the
center
of
the
existing
recessed
entry
being
located
on

interior

originally

a
storefront
consisting
of
clear
glass
framed
in
black
metal.
However,
the
new
proposals
include
a
dark
bronze,
storefront

The
applicant
previously
proposed
replacing
the
existing
green
awning

black
awning.
However,
the
applicant
is
now
proposing
to
replace
the
existing
green
awning
with

black
cantilever
awning.

what
was
acceptable

guidelines

acceptable

made
it
clear.

people
might

not
have
that
the
extruded
aluminum
painted
storefront
felt,
like
a
you,
know,
a
convenience
store,
instead
of
a
historical,
significant,
relevant
character
that
we
were
hoping
to
maintain.

attention

racist
and
we
don't
want

start
off

new
business

that
on

building

that's
why
we
went
to

Arts
commission

came
up
with

plan

bring
before

make
that

cultural
center

Aiken

people

the
alley.

conversations

owner

Builder

think
they've

really
receptive

hearing

guidelines

understanding
what
they
are
and
meeting
them,
and
we
do
feel
at
this
point.
They
are
meeting
the
guidelines.

But
we,
you
don't
even
know
exactly
what
that
looked
like
and
we're
really
fortunate.
There
is
a
secretary
of
interior
bulletin
on
this.
That
says,
look
storefronts
change
a
lot
and
unless
you
have
photo
documentation
of
what
it
looked
like,
don't
try
and
you
know
recreate
something
that
you're
imagining.
We
don't
want
Disneyland
here.

what
they're
doing
is
picking
up
a
lot
of
those
traditional
elements
but
adding
a
modern
interpretation
which
is
exactly
what
the
bulletin
talks
about.
Put
this
modern
interpretation
combine
it
but
be
compatible
so
in
terms
of
kind
of
The
Styling
the
features
that
they're
having
they
are
being
compatible
and
that's
just
what
your
guidelines
want
as
well.
So
what
they're
doing
is
good
as
far
as
that
window
on
the
side,
that
was
one
that,
as
I
recall
from
the
last
meeting,
everybody
scratched
their
head
and
said.

guidelines,

exactly
talk
about
put
a
brand
new
window
in
you.
Remember
that,

there's
a
bulletin
about
that,

it
was
written
by
the
National
Park
Service
because
of
all
these
big
Warehouse
buildings

people

repurpose
big
warehouses
that
had
these
big
brick
facades.

big
blank

like
this
building
and
they've
got
some
great
examples.

thinking

mural

talked

that

the
work
session
a
bit,
but
as
far
as
meeting

guidelines,
this
design
does.

thing

want

point
out
on
that
bulkhead
they've

possibly
spandrel
glass,
brick,
whatever
is
going
to
be.
There
is
going
to
be
new
because
we
don't
have
the
original
bulkhead,
so
I
would
caution
that
they
shouldn't
try
and
make
it
look
old.

about

variety

on

the
guidance
and

guidance

quite
have

of
those
same
examples
and
it
doesn't
in
in
the
modern
interpretation
issue
there.

reject

delay
applications,

boxes
weren't
checked

educational
