A
Once
again
welcome
everyone,
Saban's
health
or
account
of
Thursday
night,
it
must
be
time
for
the
Ames
municipal
band
to
borrow
a
line
from
Jed
Clampett
of
the
Beverly
Hillbillies
doggies.
So
I
went
out
here
this
evening.
Isn't
it
we
need
to
find
Jethro
Bodine
and
go
hang
out
in
the
cement?
Pod
I,
don't
know
about
y'all,
but
that
sounds
pretty
good
to
me.
I'm
John,
Vernon
Larkins.
We
are
very
glad
to
have
you
here
with
us
this
evening.
Despite
the
heat.
Hey,
that's
just
all
part
of
the
fun
in
bandshell
park
or
the
ames.
A
A
We
already
have
some
great
music
up
here
on
the
stage
of
the
blue
moon
players
led
by
Reggie
Greenlaw
got
us
underway
free
concert,
entertainment.
Let's
give
those
folks,
another
round
of
applause,
I'm
told
they're
called
the
blue
moon
players.
Maybe
they
told
you
this
because
they
were
Hearst
once
in
a
blue
moon
is
where
that
name
came
from.
Maybe
I
spilled
a
secret
I,
don't
know.
We
also
have
a
favorite
guest,
vocal
soloist
here
tonight.
A
Chris
Johnson
he's
returning
for
another
in
a
long
line
of
performances
here
on
this
stage,
and
we
have
a
special
guest
conductor
who
will
be
picking
up
the
baton
on
one
number
here
this
evening
coming
up
later
on,
he
will
be
leading
this
group
right
here.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
let's
meet
the
people
who
are
the
heart
and
soul
of
our
music.
Here
every
week
the
members
of
your
Ames
municipal
band.
A
He
snuck
by
me
look
at
ya,
hey
back
right
now
we
ask
you
to
please
rise.
Please
face
the
flag,
remove
your
hats
veterans,
current
service
members,
of
course,
as
always,
you
may
perform
a
service
salute
at
your
discretion.
Join
Chris,
Johnson
and
Ames
municipal
band
for
I
am
told
a
slightly
different
rendition
this
evening
of
our
national
anthem,.
C
A
A
You
here
tonight
in
this
concert,
is
muy:
bueno
have
just
a
young
first,
we'll
get
around
a
little
more
of
that
later
on.
Why
you
might
ask
well
because
if
you
didn't
know
the
the
Running
of
the
Bulls
in
Pamplona
Spain,
with
the
Sun
forming
festival,
yes
underway
tomorrow,
I
see
most
of
you
missed
the
memo.
I,
don't
see
anybody
wearing
all
white
with
the
red
scarf
tied
around
your
neck
and
I.
A
Think
somebody
messed
up,
and
we
don't
have
the
Bulls
here
tonight
like
we
thought
we
were
going
to,
but
anyway,
we'll
have
some
Spanish
tinged
music
for
you,
that
was
El
Rey
locario
by
Jose
Padilla,
full
name
Jose
Padilla
Sanchez.
He
was
known
as
maestro
dia,
one
of
the
best-loved
paso
doble
x'
in
the
world,
ill
relic,
REO
well
way
back
in
the
early
1990s
and
bag.
I,
don't
know
about
you,
but
it
doesn't
seem
that
long
ago,
Disney
put
out
a
blockbuster
animated
film.
That
was
popular
then
still
remains
popular
with
audiences.
A
Today,
Beauty
and
the
Beast
interestingly
Disney
first
attempted
to
adapt
the
French
story
of
Beauty
and
the
Beast
into
a
film
in
the
1930s
and
then
again
in
the
1950s,
unsuccessfully,
both
times
it
was
not
until
the
success
of
the
Little
Mermaid
as
part
of
a
big
Disney
Renaissance
that
they
decide
to
try
it
again
and,
of
course
it
worked
beautifully
winning
numerous
awards
like
any
great
animated
film.
It
has
great
and
memorable
music
as
well.
A
C
C
A
Thanks
as
always
to
our
media
partners,
Newstalk
14:30
ka
SI
radio.
You
can
tune
in
Sunday
morning
at
9
o'clock
and
hear
a
rebroadcast
of
this
concert
and,
of
course,
Ames
channel
12.
They
are
here
always
on
half
getting
it
all
down
on
video.
You
can
watch
it
on
Ames
channel
12.
You
can
also
watch
these
concerts,
probably
some
from
last
year,
some
older
ones,
probably
still
there
as
well
anytime.
You
want
on
the
Ames
channel
12
city
of
Ames
YouTube
channel.
A
It's
a
great
thing
check
that
out
also
make
sure
you
check
out
and
like
the
Facebook
page
for
the
Ames
municipal
band,
lots
of
good
photos
and
information
about
the
band
is
posted
there.
It
is
time
now
for
the
return
of
our
guest,
vocal
soloists
for
his
solo
numbers
here
tonight,
they'll
be
bringing
you
two
classics
from
George
and
Ira
Gershwin.
Please
welcome
back
once
again
Chris
Johnson.
A
Chris
has
been
on
this
stage
many
many
times
he's
an
Ames
resident
he's
been
living
here
in
the
area
for
many
years.
He
is
the
middle
school
choir
director
at
Roland
storey,
middle
school
and
now
also
holds
that
same
position
at
the
Gilbert
middle
school.
So
his
responsibilities
have
just
doubled,
but
good
reason
for
that
he's
very
good
at
what
he
does.
He
also
wants
you
to
know.
He
just
got
done:
building
a
deck
at
home
and
he's
immensely
proud
of
that.
So
let's
say:
look:
let's
give
that
a
big
round
of
applause.
A
B
Embrace
me,
my
sweet
embraceable,
you
embrace
me,
you
irreplaceable
you
just
one
look
at
you.
My
heart
grew
tipsy
in
me.
You
and
you
alone
bring
out
the
chips
in
me.
I
love
all
the
many
charms
about
you
above
all,
I
want
my
arms
about.
You,
don't
be
a
naughty
baby.
Come
to
Papa
come
to
Papa.
Do
my
sweet
embrace
w.

C
B
C
A
We
always
thank
Chris
for
being
here
with
us,
always
great
to
have
them
on
hand
and
speaking
of
great,
we
didn't
quite
make
it
a
perfect
score
card
with
Leroy
Anderson
selections
every
week
this
summer,
but
we
came
very
close
and
it's
time
right
now
to
get
back
on
the
Anderson
train
right
now.
One
of
his
biggest
compositions
blue
tango
is
up
next.
He
released
this
one
as
an
instrumental
in
1952
and
on
the
record.
The
flip
side
was
belle
of
the
ball.
A
Another
Anderson
tuned
to
this
band
has
played
Belle,
maybe
once
or
twice
in
the
past,
Blu
tango
reached
number
one
on
the
Billboard
pop
music
chart
in
1952.
That
year
was
released
a
little
bit
of
trivia
in
1977,
a
French
singer
named
Amanda
Leigh
R
wrote
lyrics
for
the
piece
and
released
it
as
part
of
an
album,
but
it
was
not
a
commercial
success.
You
just
it
just
can't
tinker
with
Leroy
Anderson
gets
had
to
step
out
on
the
dance
floor
so
to
speak
now.
A
Lettera
vine,
everybody
once
again,
if
you'd
like
to
spend
a
fun
day
on
Saturday,
to
end
that
festival
of
municipal
dads
in
boo
and
urban
park
on
the
south
side
of
boone
the
pavilion
and,
of
course
the
Ames
municipal
band
will
be
performing
in
that
matter
of
fact,
the
Ames
municipal
band,
except
for
of
course,
the
host
band,
the
boone
municipal
band,
a
municipal
band
as
the
longest
record
of
performances.
In
that
fantastic
festival
aims.
You
know,
small
band
will
perform
at
3:00
p.m.
A
but
we
urge
you
to
spend
the
day
there
and
your
music
from
lots
of
great
municipal
bands
and
other
musicians
who
were
in
the
park.
We
are
now
set
to
bring
you
a
very
special
duet,
featuring
the
tiniest
instrument
in
any
band
that
being
the
piccolo.
The
piccolo
first
appeared
in
the
18th
century,
but
it
wasn't
until
the
19th
century
it
became
widely
used
in
orchestras.
A
It
evolved
from
the
fight
quickly
became
apparent
that
it
commanded
a
particular
technique
that
is
different
from
the
flute
now
to
the
pioneers
of
the
world
of
flute
music
in
the
early
20th
century,
where
the
genitive
brothers,
Jean
and
Pierre
of
Belgium,
and
they
played
as
part
of
the
Bournemouth
municipal
Orchestra
in
England,
and
recorded
piccolo
and
flute
duets
composed
by
Jean.
One
of
those
is
entitled
fluttering
birds,
which
is
what
we
will
bring
you
here
tonight.
A
And
by
the
way,
this
arrangement
they
will
be
performing
arranged
by
Heather
of
a
municipal
man.
Now
Sonya
is
an
associate
professor
of
flutes
that
Iowa
State
Director
of
all
food
activities
there
and
also
equity
advisor
for
the
Sigma
Alpha
Iota,
professional,
music,
fraternity
and
other
organizations
exclusively
a
Miyazawa
artist
and
Heather
tells
me
that
the
two
debuted
this
number
of
you
you're
thinking
we
might
have
heard
this
before.
C
A
We're
getting
em
Sonya
real,
quick
break
backstage
here,
she's
going
to
switch
instruments
we'll
bring
her
back
out
in
just
a
moment.
She'll
be
switching
to
the
flutes
and
bringing
you
a
classic
contemporary
song,
written
by
Henry
Mancini,
with
lyrics
by
Johnny
Mercer.
That
first
appeared
in
nineteen
is
62.
You
recorded
by
Andy
Williams
Moon
River.
It
was
inspired
by
Mercer's
childhood.
He
grew
up
in
Savannah
Georgia,
complete
with
waterways
they're
coming
up
with
the
name
Moon
River.
It
quickly
became
Andy
Williams
signature
song.
A
C
A
Yesterday,
lizard
once
again
for
Sonia
Giles,
our
thanks
to
her
for
joining
us
here
tonight,
fantastic
well,
Franz
Vaughn's,
to
pay
the
Austrian
composer,
also
known
as
Francesco
su
veda
Mele
and
that's
the
short
version.
His
actual
name
is
about
eight
different
names,
we're
not
going
to
go
through
all
that
tonight.
He
became
famous
for
his
light
operas
of
the
Romantic
period.
In
fact,
he
is
known
for
four
dozen
operettas
his
morning
noon
and
night
in
Vienna
is
one
of
the
most
played
and
most
loved
works.
A
The
overtures
of
the
day
never
usually
related
to
the
storyline
of
the
operetta
and
were
indeed
an
intention
getter
for
the
audience
that
a
big
fan
of
the
old
day
is
a
big
fan
of
the
old
Looney
Tunes
cartoons.
I
have
to
point
out
that
morning
noon
and
night
in
Vienna
is
the
central
piece
in
the
1959
Bugs
Bunny
cartoon
baton
Bunny.
How
many?
How
many
know
that
one?
A
A
He's
obviously
hit
it
off
with
the
bed
right
away.
Mark
is
the
director
of
bands
and
professor
of
music
at
the
University
of
Minnesota
Duluth,
where
he
is
responsible
for
the
Wind
Ensemble
teaching
instrumental
conducting,
and
he
is
the
director
of
Graduate
Studies
as
well,
but
he's
got
cardinal
and
gold
in
his
background,
he's
an
Iowa
State
University
graduate
with
a
BA
in
music
education.
Yes,
I
must
tell
you
he
later
went
on
to
get
his
master's
of
EHD
at
another
school
and
Eastern
Iowa,
but
anyway
he
still
turned
out
well
anyway,
I
think
joking.
A
C
A
A
Does
the
direction
of
dr.
mark
whitlock
morning
new
tonight
in
Vienna
special
guest
conductor
here
tonight
and
mark
I
understand
you
have
family
in
the
audience
family
members?
Did
you
stand
up?
Let's
hear
it
for
the
family
members
dear
tonight,
a
wave
there
we
go
yeah
there.
They
are
lots
of
family
here
this
evening,
all
right!
Thank
you
very
much,
dr.
marcoh.
It
lack
for
joining
us
on
stage
here
tonight.
A
Our
him
is
next
up
now
this
evening
it
was
composed
by
Andrew,
read
an
English
Congregational
minister,
whose
philanthropic
work
far
outweighed
his
reputation
as
a
composer.
He
founded
the
London
Orphan
Asylum,
the
asylum
for
fatherless
children
and
the
Royal
Hospital
for
incurables,
just
to
name
a
few
there.
There
were
others
and
many
of
those
facilities,
the
reconstructed
and
oversaw
still
stand
and
functioned
today
in
in
London,
though
sometimes
under
different
names,
such
as
the
Royal
Hospital
for
neuro
disability
and
the
reading
orphanage.
C
A
Next
week
here
in
Van,
shell
FARC
redeems
municipal
band,
we
will
feature
the
fifth
up:
breaths
quintet
as
pre-concert
entertainment,
Catherine
Hensley
will
be
our
guest,
vocal
soloist
and
we
will
have
Sonya
Giles
husband,
Mike
Giles
here
as
a
saxophone.
So
it's
Mike,
it's
Mike
in
the
crowd
tonight,
or
is
that
just
a
fan
club
over
there?
Okay
well
he'll,
be
there
there?
He
is.
It
will
be
our
soloist
on
saxophone
next
week.
We'll
just
keep
keep
the
family
theme
going
here.
A
We
will
be
rounding
out
tonight's
program
with
a
return
to
that
Spanish
flair,
that
we
got
things
underway
with
in
honor
of
the
start
of
the
Running
of
the
Bulls
in
Pamplona
Spain
tomorrow,
when
John
Philip
Sousa
was
director
of
the
US
Marine
Band,
he
wrote
this
March.
It
depicts
the
drama
of
the
bullfight
with
the
matador
on
horseback,
called
the
Picador.
