A
Hello
and
thank
you
for
tuning
in
to
this
episode
of
animals
and
aims.
My
name
is
Ron
Edwards
I'm,
the
animal
control
supervisor
here
for
the
Ames
animal
shelter
and
animal
control
program.
This
is
Vegas
talking
to
you.
Today,
such
a
beautiful
Iowa
day.
We
decided
to
move
outside
and
give
them
dogs
some
time
to
enjoy
the
beautiful
outdoors
here
today.
So
our
first
guest
with
us
today
is
Vegas.
Vegas
came
into
us
as
a
stray
she's,
a
lab
mix
we're
estimating
she's
about
2
to
3
years
old.
A
She
hasn't
been
spayed
yet
so
we
want
to
make
sure
that
she
gets
paid
before
she's
adopted
she's
got
some
commands
under
her
belt.
She
does
know
how
to
sit.
Let's
see
if
we
can
get
it
sit,
can
you
sit
sit
down,
sit,
Vegas
well,
of
course,
Vegas
is
not
her
real
name.
We
didn't
have
identification
on
her
when
we
picked
her
up,
so
we've
just
named
her
Vegas
temporarily.
A
Of
course
that
can
be
changed
when
the
new
adopters
come
in
to
adopt
her
again
she's
about
three
years
old,
two
to
three
we're
calling
her
kind
of
a
lab
mix.
She
solid
black,
she
will
be
spayed
before
she
goes
home.
She
does
know
some
command.
She
knows
how
to
sit
on
command.
She
will
stay
and
shona
shall
shake
her
paw
with
you,
too
she's
enjoying
the
scenery
out
here.
A
And
our
next
shelter
guest
today
is
Skylar.
Skylar
also
came
in
to
us
as
a
stray,
unfortunately
didn't
have
any
identification,
no
microchip
no
rabies
tag.
So
we've
named
him.
Skylar
he's
a
little
scared
here
with
the
cameras
and
the
all
the
noise
and
everything
going
on
he's
a
very
sweet
dog.
He
was
just
neutered
yesterday,
so
he
is
ready
to
be
adopted.
We're
calling
him
kind
of
a
Jack
Russell,
terrier
mix
type.
A
He
definitely
needs
to
put
on
some
weight
when
he
came
in
to
us.
He
was
very
thin.
He
has
gained
a
little
bit
since
he's
been
here,
but
we
want
to
make
sure
that
he
continues
to
gain
weight
and
gets
to
the
appropriate
weight.
So
we
don't
know
much
about
his
history
again.
He
came
into
us
as
a
stray,
but
we're
hoping
that
someone's
going
to
feel
sorry
for
this
little
guy
and
want
to
take
him
into
their
home.
A
A
A
Barney
actually
needs
to
be
potty
trained,
so
he's
had
a
few
accidents
in
the
house,
so
whoever
is
interested
in
adopting
Barney
and
he
is
a
very
sweet
dog.
He's
very
shy
takes
him
a
while
to
kind
of
get
used
to
people,
but
he
is
very
shy
once
he
gets
used
to
people.
He
really
warms
up.
Well
he's
a
little
shy
here
with
the
cameras.
Let's
show
this
side
good
boy,
good
boy,
but
so
someone
has
to
be
willing
to
spend
the
time
and
get
him
house
trained.
A
So
he
doesn't
have
accidents
in
the
house
he's
only
about
a
year
and
a
half
old,
so
he's.
Definitely
you
he
can
learn.
New
tricks
and
using
crate
training
would
probably
be
a
really
good
idea
for
him
again.
A
very
nice
dog
does
have
a
hard
time
meeting
strangers.
So
you
want
to
make
sure
you're
introducing
strangers
to
him
easily.
A
You
don't
just
want
to
have
people
run
up
to
him
because
he
has
a
little
vocal,
as
you
can
hear
now,
he's
looking
at
somebody
in
the
background
and
trying
to
say
hi
so
but
barney
is
we're,
calling
him
some
kind
of
a
tibetan
spaniel
mix.
He
is
a
mixed
breed
dog
I'm,
not
really
sure
exactly
what
his
mix
is
of,
but
he
is
neutered
and
again
we're
estimating
about
a
year
and
a
half
old.
If
you're
interested
in
meeting
Barney
come
on
down
to
the
shelter
we
love
to
introduce
you
to
him.
A
And
our
final
shelter
guest
today
is
gizmo.
Gizmo
came
in
to
us
kind
of
a
unique
situation.
We've
taken
him
in
as
a
stray,
but
he
was
actually
turned
into
us
by
the
caretaker
of
the
owner.
Unfortunately,
they
have
some
challenges
that
they're
dealing
with
in
their
own
health
issues.
So
we
didn't
get
a
lot
of
information
about
gizmo.
We
know
that
he's
a
terrier
mix.
He
wasn't
neutered
when
we
received
him,
so
we
had
him.
A
Neutered
he's
ready
to
be
adopted,
but
he's
definitely
a
little
bit
more
on
the
shy
side
he's
trying
to
get
used
to
this
whole
shelter,
environment,
we're
all
strangers
to
him.
So,
where
he's
learning
to
trust
us
and
he's
coming
around,
but
he's
going
to
need
a
quiet
environment,
I'd
probably
say
no
small
children
just
because
of
some
of
the
behaviors
that
we've
witnessed
in
the
time
that
he's
been
here
with
us,
but
I
think
he's
going
to
come
around
and
be
a
very
loving
dog.
A
Maybe
would
make
a
senior
citizen
a
really
happy
dog,
he
probably
loved
to
sit
and
watch
TV
and
be
a
bit
of
a
couch
potato,
but
he
still
needs
some
exercise
too.
He's
a
younger
dog
I
think
we're
estimating
he's
a
few
years
old,
but
again
he's
been
neutered.
He
as
a
terrier
mix
kind
of
has
a
wiry
coat
here,
needs
to
be
cleaned
up
a
bit,
but
I
think
we'll
come
around
and
be
a
really
nice
dog
to
have
in
your
family.
A
So
if
you're
looking
for
a
dog,
that's
going
to
need
a
quiet
home,
you
have
a
situation
where
you
can
add
someone
to
your
to
your
family.
That's
going
to
be
a
better
environment
for
him,
rather
than
a
shelter
environment,
which
is
scary
for
him.
Come
on
down
we'd
love
to
introduce
you
to
gizmo
and
see
if
he
might
be
a
good
match
for
you.
A
Thank
you
for
watching
this
episode
of
animals
and
aims.
We
have
lots
of
great
animals
here
for
adoption.
We
just
showed
the
dogs
today
because
we
wanted
to
go
outside
in
this
beautiful
day
here
in
Iowa,
but
we
have
a
lot
of
cats
right
now.
We
have
over
forty
five
cats
right
now
here
at
the
shelter
so
from
smaller
ones.
Two
adults,
two
senior
cats.
