From YouTube: At Your Library
Description
What do you like about the new Library? What do you want to see added? Mary talks about how you can shape the future of the Ames Public Library
A
As
I
told
you
today,
I
want
to
extend
a
invitation
to
all
of
you
to
take
a
moment
in
November
to
participate
in
a
couple
of
different
ways
of
letting
us
here
at
Ames.
Public
Library
know
what
you
think
about
this
fabulous
new
facility
and
the
collections
and
services
that
we're
providing
inside
of
the
building
after
being
here
for
over
a
year
and
planning
to
be
here
for
many
more
years
than
that.
A
We
are
now
at
the
point
where
we
realize
that
it's
a
good
idea
to
step
back
and
test
some
of
the
assumptions
that
we
made
in
planning
how
to
deliver
services
here
at
the
library
in
the
renovated
and
renewed
space.
It's
an
exciting
time
for
us
for
this
library
staff,
because
we
are
really
very
very
busy,
which
is
a
wonderful
state
to
be
in
in
a
public
library.
We've
got
lots
of
people
coming
and
checking
out
materials
and
attending
our
programs
and
asking
for
our
services
all
the
time,
and
this
makes
us
really
really
happy.
A
We
are
interested
in
knowing,
though,
how
well
we're
actually
serving
you
in
addition
to
that.
What
we
really
want
to
start
to
get
more
understanding
of
is
where
the
community
would
like
to
see
us
go
in
the
future,
so
we're
entering
into
a
strategic
planning
phase
here
at
the
library
and,
as
is
typical,
we
do
have
a
survey
which
is
just
one
tool
that
we're
going
to
use
to
try
to
get
your
input.
So
I
invite
you.
A
If
you
have
received
the
survey
in
an
email
which
you
should
have,
if
you
have
an
active
Ames,
Public
Library
account
to
take
a
couple
of
minutes,
five
minutes
to
complete
the
survey
and
send
it
back
in
to
us.
If
you
did
not
receive
it
in
an
email,
you
can
go
to
the
library's
Facebook
page
we'd
like
you
to
go
to
the
Facebook
page
anyway,
because
we
have
all
kinds
of
information
they
are
daily.
A
So
it's
a
great
place
to
visit,
but
we
do
have
a
link
to
the
survey
on
our
facebook
page
and
ask
us
here
at
the
library.
If
you
either
of
those
methods,
don't
work
for
you,
we
can
get
a
a
survey
into
your
hands
in
the
survey
will
be
asking
a
little
bit
about
who
you
are
in
terms
of
your
age
and
your
frequency
of
library
use.
A
How
often
you
come
to
library
programs
we'd,
like
your
input,
on
whether
we
should
continue
to
spend
more
of
our
library
budget
on
one
particular
collection
or
another
we'd,
also
like
to
know
if
you've
got
some
ideas
for
programs
or
technology
that
currently
aren't
occurring
here
or
available
here
at
the
library.
So
we
have
quite
a
number
of
open-ended
questions
as
well
as
just
yes
or
no
questions
or
demographic
kinds
of
questions.
A
So
please
take
a
moment
to
fill
out
the
survey
once
you've
completed
the
survey
you
will
see
we
do
let
you
know
that,
of
course,
your
survey
responses
are
anonymous.
But
if
you
are
interested
in
following
up
and
participating
in
a
focus
group,
we
are
taking
names
of
individuals
who
would
like
to
participate
in
a
focus
group
sometime
following
this
survey
intake
period.
A
So
we
invite
you,
then,
to
send
an
email
to
us
with
your
contact
information
so
that
as
we
go
forward
and
convene
focus
groups
of
different
individuals
and
representatives
of
different
constituencies
here
in
the
community,
we
will
include
you
and
then
we'll
be
able
to
have
a
longer
conversation
in
person
with
you
about
some
of
your
aspirations
for
the
aims.
Public
library
as
a
vital
institution
within
this
great
community.
A
So
do
take
some
time
to
do
that
and
if
you
have
any
questions,
always
stop
by
the
library
and
ask
shoot
us
an
email
by
clicking
on
ask
a
librarian
I
mean
anyone
here
at
the
library
would
be
happy
to
give
you
some
more
information
again.
The
deadline,
we're
hoping
to
get
a
lot
of
input
by
November
15th,
but
we
will
be
accepting
surveys
through
November
30th.
So
please
make
that
a
priority
in
November.
A
We
not
only
have
new
books
on
the
shelves
here
at
the
library
and,
as
you
can
see,
we've
got
tens
of
thousands
of
them
and
we
hope
that
you
come
in
and
spend
a
lot
of
time
here
in
the
building,
browsing
and
checking
out
books
and
reading
in
our
fabulous
reading
areas.
But
in
addition
to
that,
we
do
have
a
really
healthy
ebook
collection
and
I
know.
A
lot
of
you
are
already
aware
of
that,
because
we
see
that
the
checking
out
of
ebooks
is
increasing
at
a
really
really
rapid
rate.
A
Just
want
to
remind
folks
that
if
you
are
interested
in
reading
a
book
on
your
tablet
or
your
phone
or
your
kindle
on
your
ipad
on
your
computer
or
if
you
want
to
listen
to
an
e-book,
either
to
read
or
listen
to
ebooks,
the
library
has
a
really
wonderful
free
collection
that
you
can
download
and
check
out
now
this
year.
The
collection
is
actually
being
offered
to
you
still
through
a
consortium
of
libraries
in
iowa.
A
We've
pooled
our
resources,
together
with
other
libraries
in
the
state
and
the
name
of
the
consortium,
is
bridges
so
that
just
might
confuse
you
a
little
bit
if
you
are
a
regular
user
and
now
you've
come
to
our
webpage
and
you
see
some
different
terminology,
but
basically
come
to
the
library's,
catalog
or
home
page
on
the
website
and
click
on
the
link
that
says
downloadable
ebooks.
That
will
lead
you
further
into
the
collection
of
ebooks
that
are
available
on
bridges.
A
There
is
a
free
app
that
is
really
easy
to
download
onto
your
smart
device
or
your
tablet
once
you've
done,
that
you
can
browse
check
out,
download
and
read
e-books
and
at
your
convenience
on
whatever
device
you
choose
and
also
here's
just
a
little
teaser.
We
know
that
each
year,
following
the
holiday
season,
many
people
do
get.
There
do
receive
gifts
of
tablets
or
e-reader
'he's
and
are
introduced
to
the
whole
concept
of
ebooks.
A
For
the
first
time,
and
so
in
january
we
will
be
having
some
programs
again
where
a
library
staff
will
assist
you
in
using
your
tablets
in
order
to
read
ebooks
through
the
Ames
public
library.
So
again
ask
questions
if
you've
got
any
give
us
a
call
at
the
library
adult
services
desk
drop
in
shoot
us
an
email,
we're
always
happy
to
talk
about
our
ebook
collection,
as
well
as
everything
else
that
we
have
for
you
here
at
Ames,
Public
Library,
thanks
so
much
for
being
with
me
today.
This
is
Mary
Logsdon
at
your
library.
