Description
Mayor's Press Conference - August 2, 2023
A
B
B
Sunday
Saturday,
we
got
probably
quality.
Skies
have
88
bow:
64.
Sunday,
scatter,
storms,
high
of
89,
well,
69.,
Monday,
scary,
storms,
High,
82,
low
63,
next
Tuesday
Parkway
quality,
Hive,
82
low
60
in
the
next
one.
So
we
got
afternoon,
storms,
hype,
81,
row,
60.
and
the
county
fair
starts
next
week
actually
starts
this
weekend.
This
weekend,
yeah
the
starting
the
fourth
in
sports
Elias
always
fall.
Sports
starts
less
than
a
week
less
than
a
week,
yeah
yeah
soccer
stores.
In
less
than
a
week.
Football
starts
in
about
three
weeks.
B
A
100
days
to
basketball
there
you
have
it
everybody
couple
things
going
on
around
the
city:
first
off
the
Stimson
Avenue
water
line
extension
project.
This
was
something
that
we
had
anticipated
with
the
new
Fire
Station
headquarters
and
just
being
smart
about
our
city
growth.
So
this
is
going
to
be
on
Stimson
Avenue
it'll
start
August
14th,
which
is
a
Monday.
There
will
be
flaggers
out
there
when
necessary.
A
The
project
is
anticipated
being
completed
in
September
of
this
year,
so
not
a
long
project,
but
a
much
needed
project
to
extend
our
water
system
Street
and
Brew
us,
so
the
2023
Street
Improvement
schedule.
This
is
for
repaving
and
in
some
cases,
crack
seal,
which
is
when
they
get
out
there
with
their
their
wand
and
put
down
tar
on
areas
where
there's
cracks
in
the
pavement.
The
milling
and
Paving
will
be
on
Community
Center
Drive.
A
A
There's
also
going
to
be
work
going
on
on
Robert's
Street
and
North
Congress
and
that'll
be
completed,
hopefully
by
August
8th,
where
they're
going
to
be
doing
some
work
and
then,
like
I,
said
they'll,
be
doing
some
crack
seal
work
elsewhere
throughout
the
city
and
if
they
need
to
they'll
flag
people
around
that
process,
but
they're,
usually
pretty
quick
at
getting
the
crack
seal
down.
A
Unlike
the
milling
and
Paving
fire,
hydrant
flushing's
still
going
on
today
was
Lancaster
Carpenter,
Franklin,
North,
Curt,
Congress
and
High
Street
and
looking
forward
in
time,
there's
going
to
be
hydrant
flushing
down
on
Carol
Carolyn,
Roxbury,
Carol
and
Applegate
Carol
and
Banbury
Carol
and
Dove.
So
this
is
all
up
in
Oakmont
the
Oakmont
area,
Stewart
Mill
Iron
Koss
Putnam,
North
McKinley.
A
This
is
a
race
and
Rufus
slash,
Community
Drive.
These
are
all
around
campus,
largely
in
the
high
density
student
areas.
So
just
know
that
that's
going
on
this
is
normal.
They
do
it
every
year,
every
summer,
where
they'll
do
the
fire
hydrant
testing,
you
may
experience
some
color
change
in
your
water
and
that's
largely
due
to
the
stirring
up
of
any
sediment.
That
might
be
in
the
water
pipes
just
beasts
wise
in
that
you
probably
shouldn't
be
washing
any
white
clothes.
A
When
you
see
something
like
that,
but
again
it
is
your
water
quality
is
fine
and
it
is
something
that
we
certainly
experience
on
occasion
during
the
fire
hydrant
flushing.
Another
thing
that's
coming
at
us.
This
fall
I
was
asked
to
push
this
out
by
integrated
Athens,
the
Athens
County
Board
of
developmental
disabilities,
and
that
being
that
we
are
going
to
see
unified
recreational
basketball
league,
so
asking
people
to
be
a
part
of
this
cool
fun.
A
The
league
will
be
playing
on
those
evenings
from
5
30
to
6
30
p.m.
One
hour
per
night-
and
this
is
for
this-
is
going
to
be
co-ed
16
year
olds
and
up
again,
the
uniform,
unified
basketball
joins
people
with
and
without
disabilities.
On
the
same
team
registration
for
this
is
going
to
start
in
September.
Actually
it'll
start
in
August.
It
started
yesterday
and
it'll
run
through
September
15th.
A
It's
twenty
dollars
per
person
and
you
can
register
down
at
the
community
center
down
at
701,
East
State
Street
so
come
check
that
out
something
else.
That's
going
to
be
happening
this
weekend,
so
just
giving
you
a
heads
up,
because
Court
Street
will
have
a
closure
and
that
is
bounty
on
the
bricks
is
going
to
be
occurring
on
Court
Street.
A
This
is
the
large
dinner
table
that
is
deployed
on
in
the
Uptown
area.
I
have
been
asked
to
make
some
opening
remarks
at
this
year's
bounty
on
the
bricks.
So
keep
that
in
mind.
It
is
a
ticketed
event
on
Court
Street,
but
and
the
money
goes
to
a
really
good
cause
food
insecurity
here
throughout
Athens,
County
I
know
that
Ryan
has
this
at
his
fingertips,
but
it's
always
good
to
remind
people
about
the
Athens
Ohio
City,
Source
app
and
nixel.
A
There's
the
City
Source
app.
You
know
we
strongly
encourage
people
to
download
this
and
use
it.
If
you
see
things
such
as
a
traffic
signal
that
is
malfunctioning
or
a
street
light,
that's
not
working
or
a
pothole
or
water
bubbling
up
out
of
the
ground
in
a
place
that
it
shouldn't
be
doing
so
or
if
you're,
seeing
litter,
that's
been
dumped
across
the
roadway
or
wherever
you
know,
use
this.
It's
really
effective
in
terms
of
getting
to
the
proper
departments,
issues
that
you're
seeing
throughout
the
city.
A
You
know
City
Source,
app
is
or
Athens
Ohio
City
Source
app
is
a
good
way
in
which
you
can
report
those
things,
so
you
can
go
to
Google
Play
or
the
Apple
App
Store
and
all
you
have
to
do
is
punch
in
Athens,
Ohio,
City,
Source,
app
and
it'll
pop
come
pop
right
up,
Mixels
the
other
source
of
information.
A
For
you
simple
to
do
just
text,
four,
five,
seven
zero
one,
two
eight
eight,
eight,
seven
seven
and
you
can
also
customize
this
as
an
alert
system
to
just
get
the
alerts
that
you're
interested
in
receiving.
But
it
covers
things
like
you
know:
it's
emergency
broadcasts.
It
is
severe
weather,
it
is
Amber
Alerts
it
is
you
name
it
it'll.
Do
it
missing
persons?
A
A
I
know
that
city
council
will
be
meeting
their
first
time
back
after
their
July
recess
on
Monday
the
7th
of
August
7
30
here
in
council
chambers,
and
then
the
board
of
zoning
appeals
is
going
to
be
meeting
Tuesday,
August,
8th
7
pm
here
in
council
chambers
as
well
and
I.
Imagine
they
have
several
cases
that
they
will
be
addressing
as
I
know
that
the
Planning
Commission
will
be
taking
up
several
cases
Communications
and
cases
tomorrow
here
in
council
chambers
Kyle
as
usual.
Thank
you
for
joining
me.
I'm.
A
Looking
at
your
hat,
Sandia
Peak,
Tramway
I
know
that
you're
a
huge
fan
and
did
you
go
there
on
your
most
recent
trip?
Well
I
forgot
today,
I
took
that
train.
Okay.
There
you
go.
It
took
the
tram
all
the
way
to
the
top
ten
thousand
feet.
Nice
thanks
for
joining
us.
Please
join
us
again
next
week
for
the
weekly
update.
