Description
Mayor's Weekly Update - June 9, 2021
A
Good
afternoon
and
welcome
once
again
to
the
weekly
update
with
the
mayor
and
kyle
johansen,
I'm
going
to
kick
it
to
you.
Kyle.
B
monday,
mostly
sunny.
I
have
85
monday
night,
mostly
clear,
well,
58,
tuesday,
probably
quality
high
of
76
tuesday
night,
mostly
clear,
low,
51
and
next
wednesday,
mostly
sunny
high
of
75
and
above
40,
and
partly
cloudy
skies
chronovirus
cases.
Today
in
ohio,
there
have
been
now
291
new
positive
chronovirus
cases
in
the
state
of
ohio
in
the
last
24
hours
brings
a
total
of
1.1
million
cases,
20
000
deaths
nationwide
for
3.2
million
cases,
192
000
deaths
globally
cases.
There
are
now
200.1
million
cases,
3.1
million
deaths
in
a
nationwide
united
states.
A
We
got
this
flyer
not
too
long
ago
that
if
you
have
received
your
first
dose
of
pfizer
vaccine
back
on
may
13th
and
15th
and
18th
second
dose
is
scheduled
for
monday,
the
vaccination
clinic
will
be,
as
you
can
see,
1
30
to
6
30
p.m,
and
this
is
at
heritage
hall
on
west
union
and,
most
importantly,
at
the
very
bottom.
Please
make
note
of
that:
they're
also
accepting
walk-ins.
A
So
if
you
haven't
gotten
your
first
first
dose
yet
you
know
go
down
there
and-
and
you
can
get
that-
and
I
encourage
you
to
do
so-
kyle
any
sports
updates
in
the
city.
B
A
A
See
you
next
week,
I
don't
have
a
whole
lot
to
cover
today
in
terms
of
updates,
starting
with
engineering
and
public
works,
the
revised
stimpson
avenue
east
8th
street
intersection
plan.
This
is
june
10th
and
11th
work
being
done
by
by
trucco
construction.
A
A
So
just
know
that
that's
going
to
be
happening,
the
everything
will
be
reopened
again
on
or
that
same
day
at
5,
30
p.m.
So
keep
that
in
mind
and
again
any
questions
you've
got
about
the
stimson
avenue
project.
Please
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
the
acting
director
of
engineering.
Public
works,
jessica,
dine
at.
A
593-7636
some
general
city
news
we're
going
to
be
having
the
ohio
river
sweep
on
the
hawking.
This
happens
every
year,
so
we
end
up
finding
that
they
are
pulling
out.
You
know
thousands
of
pounds
of
trash.
You
know,
there's
an
it's
estimated
that
over
85
percent
of
our
public
waterways
are
polluted,
so
this
river
sweep
is
always
a
great
event.
A
A
Www.Athensswcd.Org
again,
that
would
be
athens
s,
w
c
d,
dot
door,
dot,
org
and
get
more
information
on
the
river
sweep.
So
you
can
we
encourage
you
to
do
that.
You
can
also
reach
out
to
teresa
caldwell.
You
can
contact
her
at.
A
I
think
all
the
features
are
operational
minus
the
splash
pad,
but
it
will
be
closed
until
further
notice,
in
that
we
have
to
make
sure
that
we
have
grit
on
the
newly
painted
surface
of
the
splash
pad,
but
all
other
features
are
open
and
I
have
gone
down
there
with
my
wife
and
kids
and
it
is
wonderful,
so
encourage
people
to
take
advantage
likely
not
on
a
day
like
today,
where
it's
a
little
bit
soggy
outside,
but
anyway
make
sure
that
you
enjoy
our
city
pool
what
a
great
asset
that
is
upcoming
meetings.
A
Shade
tree
commission
is
meeting
tomorrow
june
10th,
that
is
a
7
to
8
pm
meeting
the
preservation
board's
regular
meeting
is
monday
june
14th
from
5
30
to
6,
30
pm
and
finally,
athens
city
council.
As
usual,
while
they're
trying
to
clear
their
docket
before
they
go
on
recess
for
the
month
of
july,
they
will
be
having
a
meeting
june
14th
at
7
pm.
So.
A
Make
sure
if
you're
interested
to
check
check
check
that
out?
The
last
thing
I
want
to
share
with
everybody
is
that
we
were
recognized
as
a
b
city
usa.
This
is
pretty
cool.
This
really
kind
of
was
spearheaded
by
council
member
sam
crowl,
and
I
am
was
100
percent
in
support
of
this
happening.
So
we
again
are
being
recognized
as
having
met
the
standards
to
become
an
affiliate
of
b
city
usa.
A
You
know
to
where
we
do
a
better
job
of
expanding
pollinators,
pollinator
gardens,
doing
everything
we
can
to
make
sure
that
we
have
a
healthy,
thriving
bee
hive
community
here
in
the
city
of
athens
and
hopefully
out
in
bathurst
county.
That's
all
I
have
for
today.
Thank
you
for
tuning
in
and
please
join
me
again
next
week
for
the
next
weekly.
