look
forward
to

That's
happening
at

this
month.
A
The
city
also
issued
a
joint
Proclamation
with
the
Ben
park
and
rec
district
to
honor
Juneteenth,
which
is

in

and
thank
you
to
the
father's

for
organizing
it.
When
Council
met
on
June
7th,
we
held
a
public
hearing
and
approved
the
32-acre
timber
yards
master
plan,
a
currently
undeveloped
area
in
the
southwest
part
of
town
near
crex
Brewery.
A
The
timber
yards
plan
includes
1600
homes
and
is
a
great
opportunity
to
transform
an
industrial
area
into
a
vibrant,
Urban.
Mixed-Use
neighborhood
Council
continues
to
do
our
part
to
provide
more
affordable
housing.
In
Bend
this
month,
we
adopted
a
process
for
selling
city-owned
property
for
the
development
of
affordable
housing.
Three
properties
were
approved
for
this
purpose:
two
in
Northeast
Bend
and
one
in
Southwest
Bend.
A
At
council's
work
session
on
June
21st,
we
heard
a
presentation
about
managing
vehicle
access
to
Brooks
Promenade
in
the
interest
of
making
that
area
safer
for
all
users,
while
maintaining
safe
delivery.
Access
for
local
businesses,
staff
will
be
moving
forward
with
a
plan
to
install
an
exit,
only
gate
at
the
North
End
of
Brooks
and
create
improved
visible
indicators
that
Brooks
is
not
a
normal
through
Street
and
is
a
pedestrian
focused
area.
We
also
heard
an
update
on
the
crosstown
bikeways
project
in
effort
to
make
Bend
easier
and
safer
to
navigate
by
bike.
A
Council
was
excited
to
approve
a
plan
to
build
out
two
routes
across
Bend,
one
north-south
and
one
East
West.
That
will
be
safer,
more
connected
ways
for
people
to
get
around
town
by
bike
and
on
foot
last
night
council
also
approved
our
two-year
operating
budget,
which
totals
1.3
billion
dollars.
The
budget
reflects
the
goals
of
city
council
and
accounts
for
funding
funding
increases
that
are
needed
to
keep
operations
at
current
service
levels.
A
The
city's
camping
code
went
into
effect
on
March
1st
and
has
been
applied
city-wide,
with
the
only
exception
being
huntel
Road,
where
the
time
regulations
were
not
applied
in
hopes
of
coordinating
with
the
county
on
a
citing
of
a
managed
camp
or
increasing
the
capacity
of
our
emergency
shelter
system.
Recently
we
have
opened
the
Franklin
shelter
with
a
capacity
of
up
to
60
beds
and
the
central
Oregon
Village's
outdoor
shelter
is
also
up
and
running.
A
A
Council
will
not
meet
the
first
week
of
July
and
instead

July.
Please
enjoy
the
official
Pilot

and
remember
that
no
other

are
allowed
within

and
do
our
