From YouTube: Fire hydrant testing, June 2019
Description
Fire Chief Joe Boney explains the Biloxi Fire Department's program of maintaining and testing the 3,500 fire hydrants across the city.
A
I'm
Biloxi
fire
chief
Giovanni,
we
are
in
the
process
of
doing
our
annual
fire.
Hydrant
float
test,
they'll,
be
going
on
until
the
end
of
this
month.
The
beginning
of
July
you'll,
see
firefighters
out
every
day,
usually
testing
hydrants,
periodically
and
I
mean
in
different
areas.
These
tests
will
be
consist
of
what
they
do.
Is
they
check
the
hydrant
for
operability
as
long
as
it's
working
properly,
they
open
them
fully
until
the
water
is
clear
and
they
slowly
shut
them
off.
They
grease
them
and
they
normally
will
paint
them.
A
The
this
allows
us
to
make
sure
that
every
hydrant
in
the
city
is
operating
properly.
If
there
is
a
problem
with
the
hydrant,
it
is
reported
to
the
city,
Public
Works
Department,
and
they
usually
get
the
problem
fixed
course.
These
these
hydrants
we
have
around
3500
fire
hydrants
in
the
city
of
Biloxi.
They
are
tested
every
year
annually
and
it
it
also
allows
our
guys
to
get
familiar
with
the
locations
of
fire
hydrant
locations.
You
know
we
don't
want
them
to
find
them
when
they
need
them.
