First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
weeks
of
June
28th
through
July
11th
Bloomington.
Voters
will
have
the
chance
to
decide
what
the
future
of
Bloomington
looks
like
in
the
November
election.
The
city
of
Bloomington
is
a
popular
destination
to
live,
work
shop
play
and
raise
a
family
as
the
city
grows
and
evolves.
Bloomington
needs
to
continue
making
investments
in
community
amenities
that
bring
residents
together
and
enhance
the
quality
of
life.
A
After
two
years
of
gathering
input
from
residents,
the
city
developed
a
long-term
investment
Plan
called
Bloomington
forward.
It
would
support
three
major
Community
projects
for
Better
Health,
Wellness,
Athletics
and
Recreation.
On
Tuesday
November,
7th
Bloomington
voters
will
consider
a
half
percent
local
option
sales
tax
to
finance
155
million
dollars
in
bonds
as
part
of
a
Citywide
referendum.
You
can
learn

how
exactly
that
money
will
be
invested
and
the
projects
that
will
happen.

The
city
of
Bloomington
is
recognized
for
its
sustainability
work
on
June
21st,
the
city
received
the
2023
sustainable
city
award
from
the
league
of
Minnesota
cities.
At
its
annual
conference
held
in
Duluth,
the
award
was
given
for
the
city's
bulky
item
Management
program.
The
program
is
a
way
for
residents
to
sustainably
dispose
of
bulky
unwanted
items.
It
includes
the
annual
recycling
drop-off
event,
a
garden
tool
swap
a
more
sustainable
curbside
cleanup
program
which
is
offered
on
even
numbered
years,
and
the
monthly
collection
of
reusable
and
recyclable
items
with
partner,
better
Futures
Minnesota
in
2022.

The
modified
curbside
cleanup
resulted
in
584
fewer
tons
of
waste,
landfilled
and
61
tons
of
material
that
was
recycled
or
reused.
The
city
was
also
recognized
for
reach
teaching
step
5
of
the
green
step
cities
program
the
highest
level
that
can
be
reached
to
learn
more
about
the
city
offerings

voices
of
local
artists
blossom
in
Bloomington
for
creative
signs
have
been
installed
at
Bloomington
Parks,
featuring
Hometown
poetry,
artists,
Hometown,
poetry,
celebrates
arts
and
literature
and
integrates
it
into
the
community
highlighting
the
talent
of
Bloomington
writers.

Park,

park
and
apple
play
lot
in
the
coming
months.
The
poems
of
14
other
artists
will
be
stamped
into
sidewalks
throughout
the
city
if
you'd
like
to
track
the
locations
or
read
all
of
the
poems
visit.

stretch
of
the
relay
at

of
America
officers

the

place

final
leg.

a
multi-day
relay
run
event
that
law
enforcement
from
across
the
state
participate
in
to
raise
money
and
awareness
for
Special
Olympics.
