Description
The decision on who will host Expo 2027 has been reached, provide your input as the City works on the 2024 Budget and some ideas for summer fun offered by Bloomington Parks and Recreation.
A
Thank
you
welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
week
of
June
21st
through
the
27th
on
June
21st,
the
city
of
Bloomington
learned.
It
was
not
selected
to
host
Expo
2027.
Serbia
was
selected
by
the
Bureau
of
International
expositions
to
host
the
World's
Fair
in
2027..
This
is
a
message
from
mayor
timbassy
about
the
news.
B
B
First,
to
use
a
baseball
metaphor,
you
can't
hit
a
home
run
without
taking
a
healthy
swing.
My
friends
over
the
years
Bloomington
has
hit
many
home
runs
and
we
will
in
the
future
as
well,
but
to
do
so,
we
have
to
keep
swinging
for
decades.
Bloomington
has
been
a
leader
in
supporting
and
completing
large
successful
projects
and
events
we
have
had,
and
currently
have
forward-thinking
leaders
and
partners
who
continue
to
be
innovators
and
who
think
big
and
bold.
Much
of
our
current
development
is
a
product
of
that
way
of
thinking,
including
Mall
of
America.
B
That
is
not
only
a
success
in
itself,
but
led
to
Light
Rail
and
other
significant
spin-off
development
and
major
Transit
investments
in
our
city.
We
bet
on
Bloomington
with
the
Expo
bid
and
though
we
didn't
win
it,
we've
been
successful.
Here's
how
first
the
world
now
knows
about
Bloomington
Minnesota.
B
We
also
raised
awareness
of
Bloomington
in
the
development
Community,
which
will
help
us
take
advantage
of
the
many
exciting
opportunities
for
redevelopment,
not
only
for
some
of
the
property
and
the
self-loop,
but
Redevelopment
city-wide
Bloomington
is
a
critical
contributor
to
the
economic
success
of
the
region,
and
the
most
significant
economic
activity
in
recent
years
has
been
the
continual
work
of
building
the
South
Loop
District.
The
fact
that
we
have
large
available
and
developable
sites
in
South
Loop
means
Bloomington
is
attractive
to
developers
and
well
positioned
for
the
future.
B
A
The
city
wants
your
input
as
it
works
on
the
2024
budget.
Over
the
past
four
years,
the
city
has
taken
action
to
make
the
annual
budget
process
more
transparent
and
accessible.
There
is
a
dedicated
budget
webpage
where
the
public
can
easily
access
the
videos
of
budget
discussions
and
presentations
at
Council
meetings,
as
well
as
the
presentation,
slides
and
documents.
The
city
has
also
been
using
new
ways
to
engage
the
public
working
to
gather
their
ideas,
concerns
and
priorities
on
how
property
tax
dollars
are
spent.
In.
C
C
So
it's
more
accessible
for
more
people
and
also
I'm
going
to
be
joined
by
city,
council
members
and
City
department
heads
other
staff.
We
really
want
to
hear
from
residents
we'd
like
you
to
come
and
talk
to
us.
Let
us
know
what
your
priorities
are
for
City
spending
and
we're
looking
forward
to
talking
to
you.
If.
A
You
aren't
able
to
participate
in
an
in-person
budget
engagement
opportunity.
There
is
also
an
option
to
participate
in
the
online
budget
survey.
On
the
let's
talk,
Bloomington
page
you're,
invited
to
rank
budget
priorities,
ask
questions
and
leave
comments.
