From YouTube: Bloomington Today: The BUZZ June 14
Description
The City wants to hear your ideas and priorities on how tax dollars should be spent as it plans the 2024 budget, plus Bloomington Pride partners with Twin Cities Pride for the next celebration on September 10.
A
Thank
you.
Welcome
to
Bloomington
today,
I'm
Emily
taplin
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
Buzz
for
the
week
of
June
14th
through
the
20th.
The
city
wants
your
input
as
it
works
on
the
2024
budget.
Over
the
past
four
years,
the
city
has
taken
action
to
make
the
annual
budget
process
more
transparent
and
accessible.
There
is
a
dedicated
budget
webpage
where
the
public
can
easily
access
the
videos
of
budget
discussions
and
presentations
at
Council
meetings,
as
well
as
the
presentation,
slides
and
documents.
A
B
So
it's
more
accessible
for
more
people
and
also
I'm
going
to
be
joined
by
city,
council
members
and
City
department
heads
other
staff.
We
really
want
to
hear
from
residents
we'd
like
you
to
come
and
talk
to
us.
Let
us
know
what
your
priorities
are
for
City
spending
and
we're
looking
forward
to
talking
to
you.
If.
A
You
aren't
able
to
participate
in
an
in-person
budget
engagement
opportunity,
there's
also
an
option
to
participate
in
the
online
budget
survey.
That's
on
the
let's
talk,
Bloomington
page
you're
invited
to
rank
budget
priorities,
ask
questions
and
leave
comments.
The
next
Bloomington
Pride
event
is
on
the
books
for
sept
December
10th
for
support
in
planning
the
next
celebration.
Bloomington
Pride,
a
group
of
Bloomington
volunteers,
is
partnering
with
Twin
Cities
Pride.
The
event
had
previously
been
planned
by
the
city
of
Bloomington
to
ensure
it
continues
to
grow
in
years
to
come.
C
Really
just
here,
as
kind
of
that
mentorship
to
to
teach
and
learn
about
what
it
takes
to
put
on
an
event.
I
really
do
like
to
see
it
I
think
it's
important.
It
shows
the
citizens
of
that
Community
the
support
behind
it.
So,
even
if
it's
an
event
with
a
couple
hundred
people
up
to
you
know
ours,
which
is
six
hundred
thousand
right,
it's
important.
It
shows
those
citizens
that
this
is
the
place
that
they
belong
and
they're
accepted
and
wanted
here.
City.
A
Manager
Jamie
verbrugi,
says
this:
new
partnership
allows
residents
to
continue
to
be
the
leading
voices
in
local
Pride
event
planning.
He
says
it
speaks
directly
to
the
city's
strategic
plan.
Bloomington
borrow
together,
which
supports
efforts
to
strengthen
a
well-connected,
diverse
and
welcoming
community,
be
sure
to
save
the
date
for
the
Bloomington
Pride
Celebration
on
Sunday
September
10th
at
Bloomington
Civic
Plaza.
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
June
14th
through
the
20th.
