From YouTube: Verbrugge View – State of the City 2017
Description
City Manager Jamie Verbrugge interviewed key people who made this year’s State of the City address a success.
C
Hi
I'm
Jamie
for
Bujji
city
manager
for
the
city
of
Bloomington.
With
another
issue
of
the
verbrugge
eve
you
were
at
the
JW
marriott
at
Mall
of
America
for
the
2017
state
of
the
city,
dress,
co-sponsored
by
the
Bloomington
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
the
Bloomington
noon
rotary.
We
just
had
a
fantastic
address
here
and
I
want
to
welcome
in
Bloomington
Mayor
Sawyer
Holland
Sawyer
actually
won.
C
B
C
B
C
D
Right
forward,
2040
sounds
like
a
long
way
off,
but
it
really
is
not
it's
less
than
25
years
and
if
you
were
to
look
forward,
I
could
envision
things
like
mayor.
Sawyer
Holland
will
be
in
his
second
term
as
mayor
in
the
city
of
Bloomington,
and
then
he
will
be
working
on
great
projects
like
trying
to
finally
get
494
and
35w
upgraded
to
relieve
all
the
congestion
on
494
from
all
the
driverless
cars
that
are
stuck
in
traffic.
D
C
D
I
think
it's
important
just
to
really
report
in
to
everyone
in
the
city
of
Bloomington,
the
accomplishments
that
have
been
made
over
the
past
year,
but
really
to
start
talking
about
what
the
future
brings
and
really
starts
to
give
them
information
about
what
their
City
Council
is
thinking
and
the
direction
we're
trying
to
leave
the
city.
But.
C
D
One
Bloomington
means
that
we
have
so
much
in
common
with
everyone
in
the
city
of
Bloomington
that
our
differences
shouldn't
even
surface,
and
it's
just
there
whether
it
be
the
business
community,
how
we
react
with
our
public
safety
departments,
how
we
react
with
all
the
city,
employees,
it's
just
one,
it's
we're
in
it
together
and
I
want
it
to
be
that
way.
What.
D
I,
think
probably
is
when
you
start
bringing
the
youth
in
when
the
kids
of
Bloomington
come
to
the
surface.
It
really
does
not
just
we're
not
talking
about
one
Bloomington,
we're
demonstrating
that
we're
12,
Wilmington
and
I.
Think
that
is
probably
the
most
impactful
thing
and
it
just
really
gets
the
message
across
we
can
demonstrate
it.
We
don't
have
to
talk
about
it.
E
C
A
This
event,
jamie,
is
really
a
premier
signature
event
to
the
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
for
the
Bloomington
business
community
and
with
I
throughout
the
south
metro
area.
Being
a
partner
with
the
city
has
been
so
beneficial
for
the
Bloomington
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
really
we
hit
it
out
of
the
park
because
well
truly,
we
need
to
be
one
Bloomington
and,
as
I
mentioned,
we
are
unifying
and
we
are
coming
together.
The
businesses
in
the
community
as
one
you.
C
Know
one
of
the
things
that
we've
emphasizes
the
importance
of
partnership
between
the
city
and
the
chamber
and
our
school
district
and
our
nonprofits,
and
so
we
feature
the
schools
here
today
and
we
had
fantastic
representation
from
our
business
community.
Tell
me
a
little
bit
about
the
the
attendance,
the
folks
who
are
here
well.
A
Today
we
had
just
a
wonderful
group
of
our
business
community,
represented
at
the
state
of
the
city.
We
had
a
record
year
of
attendance,
we
had
over
280
attendees,
so
the
best
attendance
ever,
and
that
makes
a
very
clear
statement,
all
of
us
that
they
believe
in
the
Bloomington
chamber
and
the
city
of
Bloomington
in.
C
A
Business
survey
so
important
to
the
chamber.
We
really
put
a
lot
of
time
and
effort
lobbying
to
out
batten
survey
done,
and
you
know
good
things
come
to
those
who
wait.
But
what
that
survey
is
now
telling
us.
Is
it's
allowing
us
to
set
benchmarks
for
the
community
and
for
the
city
to
really
work
and
look
into
the
future
as
to
what's
going
to
make
this
a
very
viable,
strong,
thriving
business
community,
as
well
as
a
successful
community
overall.
C
In
the
same
way
that
we
ended,
the
state
of
the
city
address
we're
going
to
end
this
verbrugge
Eve
you
and
that's
by
recognizing
and
celebrating
our
students
from
normandale
Hills
School
and
their
teacher
Jeff
supper,
who
came
up
with
the
song
and
the
lyrics
for
sing
it
out
Bloomington,
which
is
a
tremendous
way
to
celebrate
one
Bloomington
Jeff.
Thank
you
very
much
for
doing
this
and
kids.
What
would
you
like
to
say
to
everybody.
