A
Well,
there's
top
stories
this

City

equestrians
got
a
second
chance
in
front
of
City
Council
on
May
seventeenth,
when
Council
reconsidered
its
position
on
horses
going
off
trail
in
the
west
trail
study
area
previously,
council
prohibited
all
off
trail
use
by
horses
because
of
concerns
about
the
ecological
impacts.
But
after
hearing
significant
feedback,
they
decided
to
re-examine
the
options.
A
Council
accepted
staffs
recommendation
for
off
trail
travel
for
horses,
east
of
the
mesa
trail
and
added
an
area
between
homestead
trail
and
old
mesa
trail,
as

The
city
of
Boulder
has
long
envisioned
the
concept
of
a
civic
pad
or
urban
renewal
opportunity
near
the
same
Julian
hotel
in
the
area
of
9th
and
canyon,
and
this
week
council
learned
more
about
the
type
of
development
needed.
A
The
Civic
use
task
force
for
spent
18
months.
Examining
ideas
before
presenting
its
findings
to
Council
on
May
seventeenth,
the
group
determined
that
it
is
unrealistic
to
think
a
single
user
could
support
the
development
instead
task
force.
Members
are
recommending
a
layer,
cake
approach
which
would
divide
the
development
into
three
levels
of
potentially
different
uses.
This
could
allow
for
more
partnerships
between
for-profit,
nonprofit
and
civic
organizations,

about
the
recommendations
and
the
next
steps

this
process

A
Over
the
past
five
years,
Boulder
has
become
a
hotbed
of
activity
for
start-up
companies.
While
this
has
been
fantastic,
it
has
left
many
startups
in
need
of
developers,
designers
and
other
talented
staff.
That's
one
of
the
primary
reasons
behind
startup
week,
which
runs
from
may
18th
222nd
to
welcome
new
entrepreneurs
to
town
the
five
days
are
filled
with
close
to
40
events
for
talented
developers
and
up
enthusiasm,
engl
get
to
know
each
other
and
experience
all
that
Boulder
has
to
offer.
A
City
Council
is
moving
closer
to
making
decisions
about
boulders
energy
future,
specifically
how
and
where
city
residents
and
businesses
get
their
power.
Now
is
the
time
for
community
members
to
learn
more
about
the
options
on
Thursday
June.
Second,
the
city
will
host
an
informational
session
called
know
your
power
from
six
to
830
p.m.
at
the
east
boulder
community
center.
A
number
of
speakers
are
lined
up
and
city
staff
will
be
available
to
answer
questions.

boulder
runners
are
conserving
energy
of
their
own.
In
these
last
days,
leading
up
to
the
bolder
boulder
this
year,
participants
are
not
only
preparing
for
the
10k
race,
but
are
also
gearing
up
for
some
big
course
changes.
In
fact,
the
changes
are
the
most
significant
since
the
finish
line
was
moved
to
folsom
field
in
1981,
this
Memorial
Day,
the
race
will
start
about
a
mile
south
of
a
traditional
start
on
30th
street.
A
The
change
is
being
made
to
ease
traffic
and
parking
concerns
because
it
will
put
the
starting
line
much
closer
to
the
finish
at
folsom
field.
Race,
director,
cliff
Bosley,
says
that
years
of
discussion
and
analysis
were
put
into
this
decision.
He
believes
the
benefits
of
the
new
start
line
will
outweigh
people's
attachment
to
the
old
one
instead
of
starting
the
race
with
a
long
downhill
that
tricks
runners
into
starting
out
too
fast.
The
new
course
we'll
have
them
going
uphill
about
a
half
a
mile
on
30th
street.
A
After
a
left
turn
at
valmont,
the
race
will
turn
south
to
28th
street
and
onto
pine.
It
then
we'll
pick
up
the
old
course
on
Folsom
boulders
other
favorite
Memorial
Day
event.
The
boulder
creek
fest
is
taking
place
from
a
28
through
the
30th.
The
24th
annual
event
includes
three
days
of
festivities,
featuring
a
variety
of
events,
activities,
food
and
entertainment,
unique
to
the
boulder
community.
The
fest
also
showcases
local
arts,
music,
dance
and
boulder
creek
festival,
signature
event,
the
great
rubber
duck
race.
A
The
festival
is
free
to
the
public
and
features
something
for
everyone

all
