Description
This week on Inside Boulder News: Bag fee goes into effect; Journey of Hope visits Boulder as part of its effort to raise awareness and funds for sports for people with disabilities; and downtown enthusiastically prepares for the Pearl Street Mile.

Don't
know
that
the
fee
will
make
a
lot
of
difference
to
most
people.
Ten
cents
in
the
city
of
Boulder
isn't
much
money,
but
maybe
it
will
encourage
people
to
think
about
it.
I've
been
bringing
my
own
bags
for
years,
partly
because
what
do
you
do
with
thousands
of
plastic
bags
at
your
house?
I
love.
D
E
A
From
the
bag
fee
will
be
used
to
offset
the
impact
of
disposable
bags
in
the
boulder
area.
The
city
has
distributed
around
40,000
reusable
bags
to
the
community.

America
for
a

but
not
without
breaking.
In
Boulder.
The
national
fraternity
is
out
to
raise
funds
and
awareness
for
people
with
disabilities,
including
boulders,
expand
program.
It's
a
long
ride,
but
these
fraternity
brothers
are
on
a
mission.
We're.
A

A
H
Met
Denver
Harlequins,
their
rugby
team.
Originally,
when
I
was
at
Craig
hospital,
doing
rehab
for
a
spinal
cord
injury,
I
broke
my
neck
mountain
biking
and
so
I
went
to
Craig
hospital,
which
is
one
of
the
top
rehab
facilities
in
the
world,
which
happens
to
be
right
here
in
Denver,
so
I
went
there
and
the
harlequin
rugby
team
used
to
practice
there
and
so
I
started,
seeing
them
on
a
weekly
basis
practicing
and
they
kind
of
pulled
me
aside
and
said:
hey,
you
were
an
athlete
before
your
entry.
A
F
H
Way,
they're
doing
it
by
cycling
across
country
means
something
to
me,
because
I
was
a
cyclist.
You
know
that
was
my
life,
my
passion
I
still
ride,
I'm
lucky
to
live
in
a
place
like
Boulder,
where
there's
bike
paths
there's
the
boulder
expand
program,
there's
so
much
opportunity
for
people
with
disabilities
to
still
get
out
that
you
know
I
feel
like
yes,
I
have
you
know
certain
things
that
aren't
working
the
way
they
should
or
the
way
they
used
to.
H
But
it
didn't
stop
me
by
any
stretch
of
the
imagination,
from
still
doing
wonderful,
to
see
that
they're
helping
promote
the
awareness
and
help
people
understand
that
life
isn't
over
after
disability
and
there's
still
grants
out
there
to
get
these
expensive
pieces
of
equipment
to
get
you
out
doing
stuff.
There's
still
programs
that
have
scholarships
and
grants
and
everything
that
you
know.
If
you
have
the
drive
to
get
off
the
couch
and
do
something
chances
are
you
can?
And
it's
thanks
to
stuff
like
this
I
go.
A
I
Street
mile
is
a
great
local
running
event.
It's
obviously
a
mile
long.
We
also
have
a
kid's
half
mile
race,
it's
just
a
great
opportunity
for
runners
from
from
all
over,
to
come
down
and
experience
downtown
in
a
nice
low-key,
running
environment
and
have
a
good
time.
I
think
is
unique
experience
we
close
down
the
streets
downtown
so
to
allow
runners
to
come
and
actually
run
through
downtown
Boulder
I
think
provides
a
great
unique
experience
and
a
different
way
to
have
fun,
downtown
I.
Think
the
course
it
might
take.
I
People
passed
some
shops
and
restaurants
that
they
don't
normally
see
because
it
kind
of
goes
off
the
beaten
path
and
on
adjacent
streets
along
the
mall
and
we've
also
added
a
downtown
business
wave
this
year.
So
it's
going
to
really
allow
the
downtown
businesses
to
form
teams
and
put
some
good
competition
against
each
other.
